[Jouma Joukou]

Jouma was surprised that he was not given the option to sign up for the assembly event. Who did this school think he was, a wimp? Manly men like Jouma were more than capable of doing more than punching things! He could totally build something on par with what the support students could do, he didn't care if he didn't have an engineering degree! Didn't ask, didn't need it!

What he was surprised about, however, was the foreigner's interest in this event. He didn't really know her name, but with how she acted and with how her quirk worked, he just called her 'Ice Queen'. It was fitting. And seeing how she didn't seem to know what exactly she was doing, this was a perfect way to flex his skills! They were assigned to build a vehicle that would be pitted against other students, something to go fast and maybe even take a few hits. There was plenty of scrape around, so the best thing to do was to get to it!

"Alrighty, Ice Queen," he begins, turning to her with his big dumb arrogant smile. "I can get us set up and going. We'll need an engine, parts for a frame, and a working set of wheels! I'll set to work getting the frame put together, could you flag parts for us? I'm counting on your!" And then he was off, no doubt to start work on his Root Goldfish Machine.

Much to her own detriment she was signed up for ABCs clearly an event which was centered around support students. This became more apparent once she realized that she didn't recognize anyone else in the waiting area except for one guy....oh no.[break][break]



Fears became a reality, and she somehow ended up with Jouma again. It was times like this that she felt the school was too small, as for every new person she ended up with, she ended up with double the repeats. Still, she couldn't complain (aloud) since she knew only the basics of creation, especially not with vehicles. "No." She would quickly interject as he called her Ice Queen, that was not a nickname she was going to have. It was either Ylva, Riis, or "Hey You." She would however begin to fetch the parts if there was one thing she could do it was carry a pretty heavy load at once, much better than the rest of the support class. Especially 'Yapper Andy'. Jouma just laughed as she interjected, but he didn't mind too much. It also didn't change the fact he couldn't remember her name (did he even know it? it was doubtful at this point). As he picked up pieces and chunks, he began to lay everything out into the rough shape of a vehicle. Some things that looked plain, or that other people might find useful but he had no use for, he would deconstruct. More and more of a red energy floated around him, and as Ylva brought more and more parts for use he just clapped his hands. "Magnificent!" He handed her a tire iron, pointing at the wheels. "Ensure they're secured well on the axels, I will start getting the buggy together shortly!"

The sad truth of the matter, after the amount of time elapsed, the "buggy" looked less like a land vehicle and more like a loose collection of parts. It would be hard to see them getting anywhere in it. However, he seemed to be unconcerned. He looked over the engine, patted it down and sealing up a few loose items (clearly, this thing was a cobbled mess), and after a little tinkering got the thing to sputter. "Hmm...that's not right." Taking a wrench and beating it a few times as it sputtered the engine roared to life, complete with rattling and clicking an old engine like so would have. "Aha! Beautiful! Now witness, Ice Queen, the birth of our winning child!" Poor phrasing aside, the mass of energy that was coalescing around him would suddenly strike out. Loose parts laid out on the ground would suddenly be bound together, axels supported by strips of dark red energy, crude bolt-like constructs holding the engine and the two seats into the frame. If there was one thing he could get credit for, it was doing this quickly. However, despite the impressive display this buggy looked like it wanted to die, and probably would if he stopped focusing.

"It will take a great deal of energy to maintain the form and to keep its heart beating," he says, voice strained. "You take the front seat and steer us to victory. If it were to die, I've included pedals for us to generate the power to get us across the finish line.!"

Annoying but useful. That was about the only thing close to a compliment that she would ever give to Jouma.[break][break]

She was capable of many things, but creating a functional vehicle was not one of them. So she begrudgingly listened to what he had to say, her parents were watching after all, and this was her chance to show that all they..she? she worked for. She placed the tire iron on the wheel and spun it until she felt that any more resistance would make them a bit too tight. She knew the basics at least which helped.[break][break]



When it was finished, she stepped back, and her brow furled. This was a junker straight out of a post-apocalyptic novel. Her arms folded as she watched Jouma try to fix it by hitting the engine. This didn't bode well. She would scan the others and see many more put-together vehicles popping up left and right, which was to be expected of the support course students. Even Andy had her uses at times, ugh. The thought made her physically recoil which in turn made her get over her distrust of this "car" that Jouma made. [break][break]

She would climb into the driver's seat, thankful that she already had her driver's license, and would wait until the start signal went off. Once it did, she would push down on the gas, with the pedal not moving at first, but with a few more stomps, it finally moved. Great.[break][break]

Jouma had included in the back a few more pieces of scrap, but these were not for the car. This stack was for his quirk; in the event something happened, he'd have to patch things together. In this instance, he was the glue that held everything together. If something went wrong he had to do something to fix it. Sweat began to bead on his forehead, and he began to realize he was taxing himself more than usual. Even his stomach growled its dissent! But he had faith; Ice Queen was talented, he was certain they'd win this race no problem!

The engine sputtered again, and with a swift chop of his hand got it running smoothly. He glanced as the competition lined up, and he couldn't help but scoff. Everything looked even more hodge podge than his racing progeny! All he had to do was wait...and once the signal was given and they took off all was well!

Mostly.

The engine was big and bulky, but Jouma didn't have a good understanding of gears. At least three other competitors sprang ahead of them as they began to build up steam. "Look at them go!" He picks up a piece of junk, the item dissolving as his energy morphed it into a small stack of ninja stars, and with a mighty heave threw them at the closest car. Thankfully, the damage he did was superficial and no one was hurt. One of them did puncture a back tire, giving Ylva an opening she needed!

For as irritating as Jouma was to the senses, he had managed to do something that Ylva couldn't, which was about the only praise she could give him. Working this junker of a car was a completely different story as not only was the alignment bent out of shape, but turning wasn't much of an option unless they wanted to total the car...well, total it more.[break][break]

Luckily for her, this wasn't the only option. They didn't need to be the fastest; she just needed to make sure the others lost. Even while driving, she would employ her quirk on the field, making some slick ice patches ahead of them. One driver would easily fall for it, showing off their lack of skill in operating their creation, and they crashed knocking them out of the race. "Two down, three more to go." At least Jouma wasn't a goody two shoes like Andy or Jun. [break][break]

"Haha! Excellent work, Ice Queen! Make them bow before your majesty!" Jouma was really getting into the swing of things, and that could be taken as a good omen or a bad sign. Regardless, they weren't the only ones who were planning on sabotaging the competition.

Up ahead an awkward looking drone buzzed, a precarious looking device slung underneath. Once released a massive patchwork of glue would be spread out all over the ground. This was something that Jouma couldn't deal with, but it did look like they could get by the patchwork as it was not placed down to cover the entire ground. That said, if they hit it they'd no doubt tear their entire car apart. To make matters worse the RPM for the engine was slowly decreasing, and looking over the engine Jouma wasn't not sure why. He kicked it a few times, but this only seemed to make the matter worse. "You will have to glide through the side! I will try to breath life into the engine!" He looked it over, and as they slowed down one of their rivals flew past them...only they didn't see the glue, and their front wheels caught and flung their passengers far down the track. Unperturbed, Jouma ran his fingers over the engine...and found that one of the fuel lines came loose. Well, that'll do it. Once plugged back in they began to pick up speed once more.

Boy, was this guy irritating. He talked in such a stupid way that if it hadn't been for her overwhelming desire to win she would have honestly left. She was willing to stomach it for the time being with a sigh as she continued on, advancing past another racer in the process. One left, and it was another complete victory.[break][break]

As she punched the gas, she didn't feel the car accelerating; it was slowing down. She would turn to Jouma and watching him for a moment as he fiddled with the engine. She didn't want to have to risk them losing with a reckless maneuver yet she ultimately didn't have a choice. Even if they picked up speed at the rate they were accelerating previously, they wouldn't overtake the lead before the race was over. "Hold onto something...or don't." Even if Jouma was thrown from the vehicle she would still get the win the only that prompted her to warn Jouma was that he was able to get them this far.[break][break]



She would release her foot from the gas entirely, she would coat the path in front of them with a sheet of ice. Unlike those who failed before them she was prepared and used the lack of friction to their advantage continually increasing the length of the path while she kept the car steady. Soon, they caught up to the other car and were neck and neck just in time for Jouma to fix the engine. Ylva would drop the ice entirely and slam down on the gas. "Take out their tires. Now."[break][break]

A little further and another complete victory.

As Ylva entered her drift Jouma held onto the engine for dear life. He could feel the frame strain, cracks beginning to form in the basic constructs that held everything together. Taking a breath he kicked off two panels in order to lessen the mental strain of keeping the whole thing together; they didn't need those, right? Just the bare basics! Armor was for wussies anyways!

With the engine fixed and the car jolting forward even faster than ever, Jouma did almost loose his bearings and fall off the car. But being the badass that he was, he managed to take hold of the back panel, and once Ylva lined them up with the other car he knew what needed to be done. Setting his feet on the back, he tore off the panel and constructed a spear; as he fell towards the ground he took aim, and threw it at their tires. He would, of course, miss, but in doing so managed to thread the spear in between the spokes of their back wheel, causing it to seize up and even damage the axel. While the car didn't do a flip, it did end up skidding to a stop.

Jouma did a roll, coming to a stop and looking up as their baby ran on. "Go, Ice Queen! Our victory lies in your hands!" Of course, he did forget that he was the one keeping the car together. The further away it got, more and more of the vehicle evaporated away, pieces falling off and creating sparks. By the time Ylva crossed the finish line, all there was was her seat and the steering wheel in her possession. But hey, they won. Counts for something, right?
