[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... This was not good. The infirmary was a place Jun didn't like going, but she was obligated to go this particular day. As she walked in the second thing anyone might notice about her would be just how pale and clammy she looked. The first thing was the bloody jacket she had taken off and pressed against her side. "Help," she croaks, her legs giving out and depositing her towards the floor...in the event no one caught her. The injury itself wouldn't pose any major threat, though it was safe to say she had lost enough blood to put her off her feet. The strange thing about the injury would be the mild cauterization...almost like she was hit with a bolt of energy. Yanai Hebiru

The Doctor is InAppendages burst out of the back of Hebiru's lab coat, lodging in between the tiles and sending her rocketing forward to catch Jun before she fell.
"What happened?" Hebiru asked while maneuvering her quirk-granted appendages to support their weight as she assisted Jun in walking towards a bed. All the while she'd make sure enough pressure was maintained on the wound.
"Don't let go yet. Keep up the pressure. I'll be right back. Do not close your eyes. Keep talking until I return. Do not stop talking."
Giving short, clear and concise commands Hebiru would grab her medical tools as quickly as she could before returning to Jun, ready to take care of whichever injuries she may have incurred.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... "Ex...periment..." Jun says, slowly and with meaning. Truthfully, she wanted to just pass out and be done with today. The last measure of her pride was shattered, and if there wasn't a hole in her she would just throw some covers over her head and go to sleep. But that was probably the blood loss talking. She moved to the bed, laying down on it and letting out a groan. "Quirk...doesn't...gems..." she muttered, half closing her eyes as the literal weight she was carrying was gone. "Soft..." The injury in question looked nasty, something that she'd need a few days rest to allow recuperation. On top of that, her hands did seem to have a few burns on them; whatever caused them had to be similar. There was one strange thing Hebiru would notice, though; the rings she normally wore, that carried material to allow Jun to use her quirk, were not present on her hands. Yanai Hebiru

The Doctor is InAn experiment? That did not bode well. Either she was caught up in someone else's experiment -a fact that was regrettably likely given recent events- or had messed up an experiment of her own. Given what she knew of Jun neither option was particularly reassuring.
"Stay seated. Do not close your eyes. Keep talking." Hebiru elaborated and repeated. Coherent answers could wait until Jun's health was stabilized but if she lost consciousness things could get troublesome. At the student's words Hebiru's eyes went to the gems in question or more importantly the lack thereof.
That wasn't good.
While she couldn't recall Junsuina's quirk in full she'd read her file after the boat incident and subsequent recovery so she had a rough idea. Her quirk utilized a crystal as a power source, consuming it in some manner until it shattered. If she'd attempted to use her quirk without the power source it was likely the energy was drained from whatever other source was at hand, namely the user's biological energy. Given that doing so on a crystal broke down solid mass it was possible and in Hebiru's professional opinion even likely Junsuina was suffering from internal damage far more severe than she'd first expected.
With her tools arranged atop a wheeled medical cabinet as meticulously as possible in the short time she had Hebiru prepared to pull away the jacket to see what laid beneath. Regardless of other injuries stopping the bleeding was crucial right now.
"Jun. Mood Ring. I am going to remove this now, it will sting for a bit. Please tell me what happened as calmly as you can."

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... "No talk...sleep..." her eyes closed a little bit more, lightheaded as she wanted to drift. And she would've, too, if something didn't catch her eye. A figure flitting through the doorway. That looked like someone she used to know... "Is Shokuhou in today?" That had to be them, right? Right? Jun let out a groan as the jacket was pulled away, squirming on the table as the wound was exposed. It was definitely a flesh wound, but there were burns present like on her hands, and some of the injury had been cauterized. "Ow...Experiment...super move...if...if no ring...can I quirk?" The crux of the situation, and Jun was playing with fire. There was no record of her attempting to use her quirk without material, and no speculation what would happen if that wasn't the case. However, what was known was this: whatever energy she used for her quirk was contained by the lattice structure of the gems. Without that lattice that energy would have nothing to contain it, and if Jun was attempting to find another way to contain it without gemstones... It was safe to say this was the result of that line of thinking. Yanai Hebiru

The Doctor is In"Shokuhou?" Hebiru asked with a raised eyebrow, her gaze flicking to the door for a moment before it returned to Jun. Her assistant had the day off so it was highly unlikely she'd be here but perhaps she could have spotted Jun on the way here and came over. Alas, no Shokuhou in sight. That added an entirely new symptom to the list. One that set off quite some alarm bells in Hebiru's mind.
"Brace yourself. On three. One, two-"
Before she got to three Hebiru applied the disinfectant spray. Pressing down on the nozzle Hebiru applied a quick coat over the entire injured area before placing it back down.
"Apologies. Tell me, when the experiment went wrong did you fall or stay on your feet?"
Either way was concerning. The former could hint at a head injury and the latter meant the potential hallucinations and confusion had a previously unknown quirk-related cause. Regardless of which possibility it was both that and the potential internal injuries took precedence over the external ones. Applying a temperature regulating gel to the burns and another spray to the open parts of wound, this time one that served to seal it and speed up regeneration, Hebiru took out bandages and began to wrap up the injury. Once this one was taken care of she could repeat the same process with Junsuina's hands. In her head Hebiru made checklist of things to bring up, check and treat. Cold logic determined her actions, each one made to maximize efficiency. With injuries such as these it was crucial that they were found and treated as soon as possible. There was no time to waste.

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The sudden sting and burn from the spray brought Jun to the realm of consciousness, at least for a moment or two. She cried out, bringing a leg up and squirmed. "Fricking...hah...ow!" Tears welled up in Jun's eyes, but one thing that seemed missing is any level of emotion in her voice. Normally, there would be a level of frustration or trepidation, but this time she was more subdued. As Hebiru began to treat the injuries and wrap her up Jun stared at the ceiling, regulating her breathing. She was in a lot of pain, and the best thing she could do was make sure her heart didn't burst through her chest. "I fell back," she replied, in monotone. "I took my rings off. I tried to use my quirk without them. I summoned as much of my emotions as possible, and achieved something. Before I could shape it, it exploded. I have to try again." Something that she was not going to be able to do anytime soon, regardless if she was capable of moving or not. Even without the injury, she had expended too much in order to achieve very little. The Doctor is InHebiru attentively listened to Jun's words while continuing the treatment. A concussion seemed more and more likely but she wasn't about to make a diagnosis simply because a few symptoms lined up. Especially when others didn't. The clarity with which Junsuina was presently speaking did not line up with the severity required to cause hallucinations. Her words were both a relief and added more questions to the mix. Momentarily Hebiru considered outside influence in regards to the hallucinations but her psychological profile on the most likely subject made it unlikely he would cause such a phenomenon during a situation like this and especially not in her vicinity.
"Are you feeling pain anywhere else? Dizziness or difficulty parsing my words?" Hebiru asked while briefly shining a light into each of Jun's eyes in turn. "Please lay straight on the bed," she calmly added while pressing a few buttons on the console attached to it. A soft hum resounded from below the mattress while the base of the side rail slid open. From within a rectangular steel bar roughly a handspan wide with a seam on the side and as long as the bed's width itself slid out. Once it had fully extended Hebiru unfolded it once more at a ninety degree angle revealing a strip of glass along the whole length of both bars. With another click she moved the whole contraption perpendicularly so the glass strip was hanging over the bed and the whole width of the matress was covered with straight line of light. A third rose from the other side of the bed, this one without a strip, and connected to the end of the horizontal bar for added stability.
Presently set at the base of the bed Hebiru made sure to offer Junsuina eye protection before activating the scanner so that it'd move across the entire length of the bed.
"Please put this on and try to stay as still as possible. It'll only take a minute."
While it couldn't provide the same accuracy as a full fledged CT scan any notable internal injuries would show up allowing Hebiru to stabilize any potential severe issues before they could get out of hand. Once the scan had finished and the machine learning algorithm in her computer was sorting through the data for a preliminary result Hebiru turned back to Jun.
"I believe I do not need to inform you how foolish it was to perform such experiments without supervision?"

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... It was hard, but Jun obliged Hebiru as she brought the scanner up. So focused on the pain in order to stay awake, but the desire to slip into unconsciousness was high. With the eyewear on, she let the nurse do her job, though the chastisement was met with some pushback. "There has to be more," she says, staring up at the ceiling. "I need to know if I can use my quirk without the framework. I should be able to. I partially succeeded. I have to try again." But what she didn't know was how dangerous it was, or how much energy it really took. If she could harness the power she'd be a force to be reckoned with, but in doing so she put more than just herself in danger. Yanai Hebiru

The Doctor is InThe preliminary results showed no life threatening internal injuries and while a more in depth review would be required to fully analyze the consequences of Junsuina's experience this gave them much more time. Had Hebiru possessed a normal set of lungs she would have visibly let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
"Perhaps there is," Hebiru allowed after a few seconds of silence. "And perhaps you can try again once you have healed. But." She made sure to emphasize that last word, uncharacteristically raising the volume of her speech for a single syllable. "Not alone. That is how you get yourself killed. You were lucky today but you of all people should know luck does not last and a single wrong move can mean death."
She paused for much longer then, both to let her words hang in the air and to give Junsuina some time to think. This most recent development was concerning in the extreme and it was becoming more and more clear to her that without harsher words the only result of Junsuina's efforts would be an early grave. Too harsh however and Hebiru doubted her words would be taken to heart. No, her PhD wasn't just a piece of paper. She'd make her way to her point slowly.
"Do you still have the prescription for that wrist band I recommended?" Hebiru asked gently, recalling their previous conversation on the subject.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun didn't answer for a long while. Apathy might have set in, but if there was one thing she didn't want to deal with it was with Hebiru's insistence on monitoring her health. It meant she'd be forced to have more breaks, and Jun didn't want that. "I will take the recommendation into consideration," she says, staying still so that Hebiru could work. "The bracelet's in my dorm. I haven't worn it in a long while." Despite her displeasure with the device, should couldn't bring herself to lie to Hebiru. That, and if she did she'd no doubt get raked over the coals if she did. It was better to be truthful now than even deeper trouble later. "It kept getting in my way."Yanai Hebiru

The Doctor is InOf all the things Junsuina could have learned corporate speak wasn't the one Hebiru had been hoping she'd employ here. That was a firm no if she'd ever heard one. Not the reply she'd been hoping for but it was certainly a clear one. They could work with that.
"I see. Would a different design be better? Perhaps something you are more used to?"
Perhaps not the right thing to say if Junsuina had a specific reason for attempting to remove her rings from the equation but once more one that could give another piece of the puzzle if that were truly the case. Furthermore if it wasn't then with some luck it would disperse anger in favor of thinking something over. A much more workable mindset.
Harping on and on about safety precautions would only cause Junsuina to be further reminded of her failure during training. Risking that once to figure out less obvious reasons for what happened was necessary but anything further would only lead to doubling down and create more risks in the long term. Giving Junsuina a moment to think Hebiru fetched paper, a clipboard and a pen before moving a chair over to the bedside.
"I understand that you are motivated to increase your capabilities as fast as possible. If you inform me what you are trying to accomplish I may be able to find a mentor, teacher or qualified aide to assist you in the process."
That was the carrot, of course. The stick would follow.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Apathy or not, Jun made a face. "The bracelet...was in the way." Which was a weird thing for her to say as she was no stranger to jewelry. Heck, she even had a series of piercings along the back of her shoulders. It wouldn't take much to figure that she just didn't want to be observed. But if she came out and said that then it'd just be more trouble. But then Hebiru dangled the carrot, and Jun couldn't help but pause. She didn't like asking for help, but if she was being offered... "Supermove," she says, looking up at the ceiling. "Trying to see if I can harness the energy without the gems. Last resort...in case I run out of options." Except, as she had yet to realize, it was an impossible task. Yanai Hebiru

The Doctor is InJunsuina had dug her heels in. That was problematic. Getting through to her now would be difficult without resorting to harsher means. What a shame. Hebiru truly did not enjoy using those. Handing over a glass of water and some painkillers she decided to do so anyway.
"I see. Quirk advancements and the exploration of their limits are indeed important. Rest assured that despite your injury this has taken you one step closer to your goals." It did not take a genius to feel that the other shoe was about to drop. "That said a path can be cut short abruptly with even a single wrong move. Danger must be faced but whenever possible it must be minimized." She did not want to bury a second student this year. One was already too much. "I would highly recommend practicing with a suitable mentor and adequate safety equipment. Failing that I ask that you at least inform people of where you will be and employ the bracelet so that we can be quick to respond should anything go wrong. That said, I do understand and respect the drive to be self-sufficient."
Looking Junsuina right in the eye she concluded her injuction.
"So, if you decide not to take me up on these warnings, what do you want me to tell your family?"

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun accepted the painkillers and the water, downing them as she began to tune Hebiru out. It was the same old same old, wear the bracelet and tell people where you're at and this sort of stuff can be dangerous, etcetera etcetera. Though as she took another sip of water she paused. Death was something she knew was a possibility in the field, whether it be fighting criminals or responding to a disaster. That particular sentence immediately caused her hands to start shaking, and through the apathetic state tears started to roll down her cheeks. "...Sensei, I'm not progressing anymore. I don't know what else to do." She reached over to spin one of the bands, but as they weren't there she just gripped the cup, partially crushing the paper. "My quirk is dangerous. I know it is. I don't...want to hurt anyone else with it. Especially if I loose control..." Yanai Hebiru
