He shouldn't be as elated as he was when Hati soared thanks to the makeshift trampoline, even when it was the least of what he deserved. Vengeance was an ugly feeling after all. Unbecoming of a hero. What would his coworkers think if they knew his opinion on what fate the man should receive?

Granted, Hati wasn't the reason he picked up his blade. They'll have to remain in the dark for a while longer.

Ryota bent his legs, preparing himself to avoid what he thought was a collision with the hulking vigilante, but he didn't expect the punch. The resulting shockwave knocked him away instead and he landed on the ground hard, rolling in the dirt before he pushed himself to his feet and skidded the rest of the way.

A laugh, breathless as it was, escaped him at Hati's first words. "You seem aware of what I can do! Trust me, the number of tricks I have are infinite!" Underneath the bravado, Ryota was deep in thought. The man's strength was immense; he couldn't take more hits like that. He needed to stop him here and now. There had to be a good word for it, he just needed to figure out what it would be.

The halt in the man's advance made Ryota pause, blade remaining in its sheath as he listened. The confusion, the resistance- he was being controlled surely? He let go of his blade, hand reaching out fruitlessly as Hati fell to his knees.

If the hero was capable of swearing he would've cursed himself. He was so focused on taking the man down that he didn't consider the blank stare in the beginning. How out-of-character he seemed compared to the vigilante who brought criminals right to the authorities' doorstep. He should've known something was wrong.

But it also meant he wasn't to blame for his aunt's disappearance. Whoever was responsible- he'd have to search for them too.

For now he needed to focus, head raised when the scream came and the tendrils were launched his way. To think his sparring against his brother's girlfriend would be useful for this moment. Ryota crouched. "Stay where you are Hati, I'm coming for you!" With that declaration he ran forward, ducking and weaving from side to side to avoid the lashes.

When he was close enough he'd try to reach out and touch the man. "[EXHAUSTED]!" In his mind, the shadows couldn't be controlled when one didn't have the energy to even summon them. If his hunch was wrong, then at worst it would at least weaken him.

OOC: Ryota gets knocked off the tree and rolls on the ground before he stabilized himself. Shifting his focus on saving Hati instead of killing him, he tries to avoid the following shadow lashes and apply 'exhausted' on Hati in an attempt to stop the shadow control.

''Ack!-'' Megumi let out a noise as she was kicked back, narrowly saving her from being bisected by the shadow cleaver. ''Sorry! I'm sorry!!'' The hacker girl blubbered, backing away from the fight as she wondered how a pro hero could treat a civilian so rudely. Shadow Hati's cleaves were wide and telegraphed if you were trained in combat, leaving the villain pair largely unscathed. ''I just wanted to help, I want to go home.'' Megumi sniffled as she took cover behind some debris, peeking over the side to see how her saviors were doing. Olivia's wild swings would get blocked at first, but more and more connected until she tore into Shadow Hati so much that he roared, dropping his weapon and turning into a puddle on the ground before dissipating.

Then the inner world began to shake violently.

Hati groaned as he felt Ryota's quirk affect him, growing even more exhausted which, much like Ryota had predicted, stopped the shadow tendrils in their path. ''If... If you really do have infinite tricks in that quirk of yours, could you save them?'' The control on Hati had been broken completely by this point, but he was tired, vulnerable. ''My part of the plan was to... To take hostages to use against the government.'' He sighed, clutching his side as a sting of pain shot through him. ''It's shameful, what became of me, of all of us.'' His eyes widened as he let out an agonized howl, shadows bursting out of his body as all the people he had absorbed got spat back out of him, littering the ground around them. Among them were Olivia, Tsukiko and Megumi. Most of the civilians were unconscious, but Megumi quickly let out a startled scream upon seeing Hati, running into the wall of the elastic house without looking and getting bounced back onto the ground with a thud.

''Vox... You must save these people.'' He felt himself losing consciousness. ''My allies are wreaking havoc just like me... Stop them, please.''

Rubbing her cheek Megumi held back her tears. ''I want to go home... Are you heroes?''

Hati was beaten, but was the fight really over?

[attr="class","pinscroll"]Olivia didn't relent even when Megumi started to speak up. If Tsukiko wanted to deal with her, that was entirely up to her. She came here for a purpose, and that was to get treasure. Megumi was an adult and if she lived or died Olivia genuinely didn't care. As the assault finally broke through, his body turned into a pile of mush, and the world around them began to rumble. "Easy enough." She would brace herself as they were ejected from the shadows and landing in the real world.[break][break]

Gripping the blade of her sword, she would listen to Hati prattle on about saving people or whatever nonsense he was getting at. Once it became clear that he wouldn't share anymore, Olivia would raise her sword, extending it high into the sky, and then assuming no one stopped her, she would attempt to swing it down and behead Hati in one strike. The extra length was necessary to cleave through his muscles, and Olivia alone didn't pack the strength to do so. [break][break]

Living isn't an option for him. He already chose death by getting in her way.[break][break]

Lucky for her, the gamble paid off. Megumi remained with a head, and Tsukiko unscathed as Yingshe's frantic slashes ripped the Shadow Hati apart until eventually, it collapsed into a puddle. Climbing to her legs, she'd say a single phrase, and then the world began to shake violently. "Now that that's over... how do we ge-oh-oh shit!" She'd reach down to the ground to stabilize herself until suddenly, everyone was vomited out of the shadows, back to the real world.

"Ugh... what the fu-" she held her tongue as her eyes latched onto Ryota standing over the exhausted and defeated Hati. So, it was over. They won. With a sigh of relief, Tsukiko started to relax until she saw Yingshe raise her blade, attempting to strike Hati.

No, not now! Jumping to her feet she closed the gap quickly, placing the palm of her hand on the bottom hilt of the sword, preventing any chance at swinging down. With a glare, and then a very visible eye glance towards the hero among them, Tsukiko tried to allude to her comrade to let her get rid of the hero first.

After all, why fight the hero now? That would be an unnecessary risk in her eyes.

"So... Vox." She spoke up, releasing her grip on the sword slowly but still standing between Hati and Yingshe. "Any idea where his 'allies' might be wreaking their havoc? Perhaps... other populated areas?" With a glance to Megumi, then back to Ryota she showed disinterest in the girl but still answered her question with a follow-up proposal to her nephew.

"We might be civilians, but Hati is down for the count. Let us call the police and wait for them to arrive." She'd give a smile to him, trying to make her words sound that much more honeyed. "It sounded like people are really in need of a hero like you elsewhere." Please, please take the hint Ryota... Tsukiko did her best to hide her worry. Either way, she would still need to get her partner in crime out of here, but she wouldn't risk getting discovered by family.

Note, she only stopped the initial swing attempt. She is between Hati and Yingshe, but she is ready to sidestep if need be.

It was over. Hati was drained and Ryota frowned, unable to help him further. He wasn't a healer. He couldn't reverse the damage he endured. He could force the man to ignore the pain maybe, but it wouldn't affect his injuries. It'd be a hinderance for the medics if anything. All he could do was listen to his plea as he released the people he trapped. "I will see to it that they be safe. You have my word."

So more of his group had been afflicted. Whoever was controlling Hati likely had a hold on his allies as well. It was information he could bring back to his agency.

For now though he had to make sure everyone was alright. Ryota didn't want to leave the man alone but his options were limited; his coworkers weren't with him. So with a sigh he stepped away for a moment, running towards the girl who ran into the house he transformed as a blade was nearly brought down on Hati without his knowledge. Had it completed its course he would've sprinted back in a heartbeat.

Willing his persona back into gear, he raises a hand in greeting. "Hello there! I am, yes! Are you alright? I apologize about the house, that was my doing!" He placed a hand on his scarf. "[FLOATING]!" The building would regain its sturdiness as the cloth billowed to a non-existent wind.

Before he could speak to her further, another more familiar voice rung in his ears. He turned to see his aunt was there, worse for wear but otherwise standing. Smiling under his mask, he gave her a hug. "Oba-san! It's so good to see you're okay!" It didn't change the fact her life was put at risk though. They were going to pay for that.

Ryota released her from his hold as she spoke to him about the allies- right, they must've appeared during that conversation. He eyed the lying man warily before returning his gaze to her. "Are you sure you'll be alright? It wouldn't be responsible of me to leave an unconscious criminal in the midst of civilians, regardless of how capable the civilians are." She couldn't see it but he was giving her a critical stare. He hadn't forgotten that talk.

But it wouldn't be responsible of him not to check on the other towns on the island either. Who knew what state they would be in? With another sigh he nodded. "Alright, but if any trouble arises call me okay? You have my number." He pointed at Megumi then. "And watch over her please! At least until she's on her way home." Then to the girl. "Unfortunately I have to scout the other villages here, but this nice woman will keep you safe until authorities arrive!"

With that he'd make his leave, none-the-wiser to the fate Hati was about to meet.
