Nikolai isn't a nice person, but he isn't a mean person either. He's somewhere in between! He isn't all that friendly with most, but doesn't mind having conversations even though he'd prefer to avoid the jumpy, bubbly, and talkative types. He just doesn't have the energy nor sense of humour to keep up with them. Despite his sometimes "cold" demeanour, Nikolai is a man of principles. At least, his principles. He is trustworthy with those he befriends and would lend a hand to someone struggling, though he would prefer if someone else did it for him.

One day when Nikolai was 16, Nikolai realized that his father had not come to the door at the top of the stairs for a week. Now, it wasn't unusual for his father not to say a word to him or bring him food for a day or two at a time, but a week felt strange. Being his only family member left, regardless of his father treated him, Nikolai was concerned and panicked and blew off the hinge of the steel doors using his quirk. What he discovered was worse than he could imagine. His father hanging from a makeshift nuse made of blankets in their living room.
Seeing his tough and cold father resort to suicide struck Nikolai with a piercing pain that he changed him forever. But at some point, that became too much for himself or his body to bare and he changed for the worst. With no where to go, Nikolai learned to survive on his own.

Nikolai was born into a poor family in a small village in Russia. As a youth, Nikolai was much more innocent at heart, caring, and loving, as they were traits he learned from his mother. Though the family did not have a lot of money, Nikolai's mother served as warmth for Nikolai and his younger sibling. Their father was a hard working man but cold and refrained from showing any affection or emotion, even to his own wife. Despite the lack of his presence, he instilled certain values into his children, though often through a cold and aggressive means.The siblings were not overly affected by their father's attitude though because they had their mother to rely on, who they spent most of their time with.
Things would change for the family when Nikolai's quirk manifested at age 9. Before his quirk manifested, Nikolai would always cry thinking that he would not be blessed with quirk like the rest of his friends, but his mother was there to comfort him all the time and cease the distress he was feeling. So when Nikolai ran up to her one day and showed her he could create massive explosions, she was very excited and happy for her son who dreamt of this day. Little did they know, Nikolai's quirk was far more powerful and dangerous than any regular explosion.
As Nikolai spent most of his time with his mother and younger sibling, they were the first to feel the affects of his quirk. It did not take long for his mother and younger sibling to be end up hospitalized and clearly suffering from sort of illness. Nikolai who remained healthy couldn't understand it, nor could his father. When the hospital ran tests on his mother and younger sibling, they found that their bodies were exposed to an extremely high level of radiation that resulted in the formation of cancer cells in their body.
His father, who was usually cold and reserved, showed concern for his family's health and tried to stay by their side throughout. He even asked the doctors to check himself and Nikolai for any cancer cells or radiation exposure. What he found out... changed everything. The doctors let the father know that Nikolai's body had signs of radiation exposure too, but something was different about the boy. After being subjected to test after test like a guinea pig, doctors and scientists discovered Nikolai was akin to a walking nuclear bomb that had no container and was oozing off radiation.
Nikolai was the one who unknowingly exposed his family to the radiation that was now killing them.
Devastated and angered to hear the news, his father became even colder with Nikolai. As some sort of mercy though, his father never revealed the news to Nikolai's bedridden mother and younger sibling. It only took three weeks in the hospital for Nikolai's mother to pass away, with her husband by her side and her son, Nikolai, at home locked in a basement.
After her death, Nikolai's father became depressed and hardly ever interacted with or acknowleged Nikolai. To avoid others and himself getting sick, his father thought it was best to lock Nikolai away... away from everyone and everything. Nikolai couldn't understand why at such a young age, but he came to understand as he got older when he came to terms with his power and his father explained them to him through a steel door at the top of their basement. He was responsible for the death of his mother.

Due to this mutation in Nikolai's body, his natural bodily productions (hair, spit, breath, blood, etc.) become akin to radioactive waste and therefore, nuclear energy can be expelled from his bodily productions in the forms previously mentioned as well.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS: The drawbacks of this quirk is that its user can only use it to a limiting degree due to the explosive and damaging nature of the quirk. Nikolai can use his quirk for a limited time before experiencing the adverse affects of his quirk, mainly the burning of his skin and a weakened health state. Due to the explosive nature of nuclear energy, controlling the output of the quirk is difficult, resulting in emission of the quirk coming out in quick and short bursts rather than sustained. Additionally, due to the nature of the nuclear energy, the nuclear energy cannot be contained and moulded into refined sustainable constructs (ie. couldn't make a item, platform, etc.), but can only emit large orb blasts, explosions and beams.
