In what would be considered an unusual move Ylva had joined the International Cuisine Club. It was mostly due to the recommendation by the counselor, but she didn't have to choose this specific club. Truthfully she picked it because she liked to cook and after the sports festival, she was missing home. The easiest way to get that feeling back was to make some dishes from her homeland, with Frikadeller and Råkost being the first ones that came to mind.[break][break]

So she took a detour to the Green Club's greenhouse to get some fresh veggies. She didn't exactly have any friends there but she had a mutual deal with the treasurer, Janine. Ylva would bring Janine leftovers of anything she made and Janine would allow Ylva access to some of the vegetables. Of course Ylva only went when things were quiet, she didn't want to have to make small talk with anyone if she could help it. Not too many people understood the value of peace and quiet, all her fellow students wanted to stop and chat. [break][break]


So in the corner of the greenhouse where she had permission to, she dug up a few potatoes and carrots silently adding them to her bag. Thank god she went during dinner time, as she made the mistake of showing up here once while classes were still going on. That was not a mistake she would EVER make again.[break][break]

It was a no-brainer for the counselors to recommend Kikurage, the girl who could grow mushrooms, to join the Green club.  Despite the initial protests from the girl who would rather be the mushroom and cultivate herself in the darkest, dankest corner of her room; the counselors that were more concerned with her social life made an argument she really couldn't argue against.  Being in the Green Club allowed her to have access to the Greenhouse, which would be a perfect environment to expunge upon her quirk without any extra costs.  Making a tangible argument with the deciding factors of both location and money, Kikurage swallowed her own tendencies and agreed to join the club.

Which lead to her fitting her own personal schedule of going into the darkest, dankest corner of the Greenhouse after collecting and trimming some of the more decayed plant life to use as nutritious fertilizer for her little babies.  Creating a special little corner out of a handful of dirt and mud patches, the young red head draped in a white turtleneck, blue jeans, and a gardening apron would start growing two different sets of mushrooms.  The first was her usual, almost daily practice of growing Portabello mushrooms.  She definitely acquired the taste to them, though it was hard to say as to whether these notions were born from a convenience of her quirk being able to produce such mushrooms OR her quirk giving her a predilection towards the mushrooms.
[break][break]Regardless, she was a fan of mushrooms as a snack or as an ingredient in food.
[break][break]Once she spewed the spores from her fingers to create a small patch of Portobellos, her attention turned to the other patch as she closed her hand and created a small gap in her fist large enough to blow into.  Swathes of spores were created in her palm, subsequently blown into the patch to attempt growing a patch of Giant Puffball Mushrooms.  However she underestimated the spores necessary, as the Puffballs grew way too quickly and then...

[break][break]The mushrooms popped like a loud balloon with enough force to blow Kikurage over a row of vegetables and shrubbery into the other dark corner of the Greenhouse.  Landing back first into a row of potatoes and carrots, with the back of her head planted firmly in a pit of dirt as she looked up at a rather cold looking individual who was in the midst of digging up Potatoes and Carrots.  
[break][break]And on Kiku's face was one that shouldn't have matched someone who just made an accident like this.  As her eyes met Ylva's, Kiku's eyes narrowed and face shrank back with her mouth widening slightly as if disturbed or disgusted by the fact that she was having to deal with another person...

It was pretty difficult to catch Ylva off-guard due to her quirk, and Kiku was no exception. From the moment Ylva entered the greenhouse, she could sense the presence of another individual in the opposite corner. There was no escaping her extrasensory perception, especially not as close as she was to this other individual. Either it was a person or a cactus that had somehow gained sentience and the ability to move.[break][break]

As Kiku came flying, Ylva would sigh and take a step back just in time for Kiku to land on the patch she was working with. Silence hung in the air as Ylva rose to her full height and stared down at Kiku. Without blinking she continued to stare silently as Kiku looked up with disgust. Internally, Ylva thought that if she wasn't irritated, her facial expression would probably match Kiku's. Instead, it was stoic, unemotional look that was typical for her. [break][break]

Having landed square in the dirt patch that Ylva was working in, the surprised Kikurage would have her eyes meet with the other girl. While Kiku had a rather distasteful look on her face, there didn't seem to be any sort of change upon Ylva's visage. Frozen in the dirt, the redhead would process this and just take it at face value for Ylva either being aware of this happening or being 'nice.' Taking a deep breath, Kiku's face would return to a state of stoic normalcy as she pushed herself up out of the dirt. Brown stains clung to the back of all her clothing, which caused the girl to utter a grumbling of, "Eughhhhh."

Despite the grumbling, Kiku would dust as much dirt off of her hands and apron, realizing odd flecks of orange smears. Her sudden explosive flight had taken out a good chunk of veggies that were being grown. An exasperated sigh later and Kiku would aim her fingers in an empty clump of dirt as black spores would spritz from her index with the force of a kid's water toy gun. The spores would touch the dirt and immediately grow into handful of well-grown Portobellos.

"Portobello Mushrooms," Kiku said flatly, using her other hand to pluck them and offer to Ylva as if just that one word was all that was needed to say. Even shaking her hand as if to insist that the cold gal would take them.

As Kiku stood up Ylva's eyes silently followed, she was slightly taller than Ylva which was to be expected as she herself was pretty sure and was pretty plain. Her eyes narrowed as she noted that Kiku was another redhead which in Ylva's experience with Jun and Masao usually meant someone who wouldn't stop talking and was overly preachy. In simpler terms, extremely annoying. [break][break]

Much to her surprise Kiku didn't say anything even after Ylva waited for her to open her mouth and say something stupid or grove in apology about something that, while not great, was clearly an accident. It's not like this was Ylva's plot anyway, so it didn't bother her too much that someone ruined some of the produce, plus most of her basket of what she collected was unharmed. If anything, she'd just take something else from another plot and let Janine know so she could pay the person back...or better yet, she could just take it from the rich girl who had that yacht party. Before the Sports Festival and the fallout of her "loss" Ylva would have just walked away or told the girl to leave but instead she let her curiosity get the best of her and watched as the girl created mushrooms out of thin air. With the raise of an eyebrow she watched her pluck one and attempt to hand it to her with Ylva, curious to see if these were real, taking it and eyeballing it. It was indeed the real thing but that begged the question, what kind of quirk made someone grow mushrooms? Probably a Support Course or Business Course since she couldn't think of any real use for mushrooms on the front lines. Hell, even Masao had a more suitable quirk for the Hero Course than just mushrooms. [break][break]

"I can see that." Ylva said flatly. Ylva was wearing black overalls, a T-shirt, and gardening gloves so when she took a hand out of one of the gloves she put it in the front pocket while taking out a clean towel she had put away earlier. Ylva would flash freeze it and then let the ice melt into water before wringing it out and handing it to Kiku like she did to her. If she didn't accept it Ylva would simply put it back in her pocket and assuming Kiku didn't say anything more she would bend back down and work on harvesting the potatoes and carrots that were still in one piece, pushing the broken ones to the side to throw in the compost later.

Offering Ylva the Portobellos, Kikurage would feel the edge of her lip twitch upward for a moment or two upon seeing the frosty woman consider the mushroom.  Even taking it from the redhead's ungloved hands, which was fully normal for her.  A shrug was given as Ylva flatly admitted that she did indeed see that it was indeed a Portobello Mushroom...  Which Ylva succinctly flash froze it.  The suddenness of such a thing gave pause to the Mycomancer, in shock of such a sudden display.  Intrigue also set in as the ice immediately melted away as Ylva wrung it out and tried to hand it to her.

Kiku had pulled her hand away, refusing quite calmly, "No, it's not for freezing.  It's for eating, like mashed carrots and potatoes."  Sharing that dry joke in probably poor taste due to her own devastation, she would help Ylva collect the remains of the destroyed produce and put them in the compost.  At the compost bin she would easily wave her hand over the top and used her quirk once more.  Black spores dribbled out from her palm to cover the wasted produce, where more fungi grew to accelerate the decomposition of the veggies.  "The dead bodies of the produce will send nutrition back into the dirt...  The next batch will cannibalize that nutrition and make it more delicious,"  Giving a thumbs up at the end of that explanation with a smile at such a morbid description of basic agricultural facts.

At this point Kiku would realize that with Ylva offering the portobello back that she probably didn't understand mushroom-related cuisine and didn't understand that it was a peace offering.  Though she already did offer an apology with the mushroom gift, it wasn't her fault that it wasn't accepted.  It was probably best to move on from that point to not let the mood become too tepid.

Shrugging in response to Kiku not accepting the rag, she'd put it away. If Kiku wanted to stain her clothes, then that would be fine with her. She wasn't the one sitting around in filth but at least she was agreeable to clean up the mess she caused. If she had declined Ylva wouldn't have minded either but as long as she wasn't chatty she didn't have a reason to leave and come back when the place was truly empty. [break][break]

"That's not what these are for." She wasn't exactly forthcoming with her ties to the Internation Cuisine Club as offering Janine food was already one person too many. Lifting up a bag of compost she would pause as she watched Kiku use her quirk again. This time, she picked up on the spores rather than focusing on the mushroom produced, which made more sense. That in itself was at least a bit more useful than just creating mushrooms by themselves. "Yes, that usually how compost works." Ylva wasn't exactly unfeeling, but morbid descriptions of things never bothered her. [break][break]

Kikurage was trying to make up for being a nuisance and to hopefully push this off track, and figured a little bit of small talk could help make things feel less awkward.  And UA University small talk could be their classes?  Hence why she inquired about Ylva's courses. Ylva spared no time in clarifying that she was not only in the hero course, but was also was a third year.  After Kikurage dusted off the remaining spores that clung to her hands, she was given a similar question.  Shit, the consequence of making small talk, having to make more small talk. Clearly, she was at least a little different than the others she'd met so far, so Ylva would respond in kind, "Likewise." Most people viewed Ylva as 'difficult' to deal with but truthfully, she wasn't hostile. She just kept to herself and told people when they were bothering her which so far Kiku was not. "I'm not a part of this club either." She would dump a few more things in the compost pin. She would listen to Kiku's explanation of why she was here and the circumstances surrounding it. It wasn't too far off from her own circumstances for being at UAU as the counselors kept up with her progress, and she was "encouraged" to pursue more social things with the carrot on the stick being extra credit towards her grades. "You can go wherever you'd like. I don't mind." Taking a break, she would sit on the ground. "Like I said, I'm not a part of this club. I use their vegetables in exchange for cooking food for them. I'm in the International Cuisine Club." She would then make eye contact with Kiku. "If your mushrooms are edible and you join this club, I'd stop by the cuisine club. The two in charge would probably be interested in some sort of trade." With a sufficient enough break she'd get back to work. "Of course, that is entirely up to you. I'm not a fan of most people, so it's not something I'd be looking to do myself."[break][break]

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]Change of Plans [attr="class","rhythm"] After the shared niceties, it was soon revealed that they were both not a part of this club.  That begged the question as to the why Ylva was allowed in here, but it's not something Kikurage personally would pursue unless there was bad blood boiling between the two of them.  So far it was pretty amiable, so let bygones be bygones.  But a bit fearful of feeling like she was imposing on Ylva, she offered to leave which her new associate didn't really take a stance on being for or against.  What Ylva did offer was an actual plan to follow, mentioning the International Cuisine Club and potentially 'stop by' the cuisine club to cook mushrooms.  Ears perked very up at the mention, as while she enjoyed horticulture she also very much enjoyed cooking many mushroom based dishes. "International...  Cuisine club," Kiku murmured as she soon paused and held her chin in her hand.  Thinking over the plans as she wasn't made aware of a cooking club being an option since the general staff that suggested the Green Club was closer to a more basic choice that Kiku already did so it just felt like she wasn't growing.  While Kiku did kind of cook her mushroom meals, there was so much variety in the kitchen that she could potentially learn and grow from. "I think I'm going to toss my application and see about joining the International Cuisine Club.  I think I'll enjoy that more than using my quirk to easy-grow mushrooms," Kiku spoke with what looked like a faint, but rather genuine smile as that actually sounded like so much fun. Ylva slowly started to form an opinion on Kiku. Out of anyone she'd met excluding Misaki she felt that Kiku was the most tolerable. She wasn't too chatty, she wasn't set on trying to 'figure Ylva out' and she wasn't preachy. With how many people she ran into that were preachy, it was a breath of fresh air. Having someone around like this wasn't too bad[break][break]

"You don't need an application." Ylva finished dumping the last of the compost she had "The two guys who run it are usually too busy fighting but they'll take anyone who wants to cook." She would stand up and grab her basket of carrots and potatoes "Follow me, I'll take you there." Perhaps there was some hope at UAU after all when it came to the people here. Kikurage would assist the other woman with that last bit of compost, listening to how the two guys running the club are fighting, which sounds like a hassle, but learning new dishes to make and introduce mushrooms into sounded just phenomenal.  Plus if Ylva could put up with them, then Kiku could do.  "Mhm," Kiku stated with a nod, taking off the apron and hanging it on the community used apron rack before following Ylva out of the greenery. Squinting for a good couple of seconds, Kiku's eyes would readjust to the outside as she moved through the outdoor section with Ylva and towards one of the main facility buildings.  "Thank you Ylva," Kiku offered this gratitude simply, finding a bit more ease in her words as she followed at an even pace.
