[attr="class","body"] The greater the beast, the greater the cage. It took a lot to truly put down a monster such as Dracula. It took ingenuity, it took study. Beasts like Dracula were devilish creatures that needed a lifetime of research captivated within the brevity of a mortal's life. The greater the stakes, the motivation -- the spite, even -- the more efficient the search. Answers were needed NOW. The question? How to remove the obstacle stopping whatever force was driven to want to cleave the inheritor Paragon from the world. After the psychotic cyborg was faulted in his efforts, arrested and shattered, it was back to the drawing board. Masao was given too much freedom by her family it seemed, but no one could account for love. Two strays in a world of social people that made high-octane, artificial connections with the berth of the internet and the inherent necessity of public relations in hero work. The dark manipulator could not have the foresight that the first attempt would be thwarted by this monster of a mortal. Now, that issue was rectified. There was a facility, well-hidden in Tokyo Bay under the guise of a shipping warehouse. The warehouse wasn't seemingly too large on the outside, but it was a skeleton that was operated by this manipulator. On the inside, it was a complex that descended into Yomi it seemed. At the heart of it, a mechanical well. The laboratory contained within the heart of the complex already extended two sub-levels down, but within the lab was Enma's prison. Originally, it was built to contain erratic chimera built by this mysterious malefactor. Now, it plunged Enma down 60 meters in a watery prison. Pressure squeezed all around him, a mask providing air and shrouding his senses. All he could feel was a cold cage around him. In this belly of water, his arms were outstretched and clasped past the elbow with large, metal cylinders split into segments used to adjust to the limbs captured. A girdle was cast around him, attached to a spine with needles digging into his spine all throughout and finally connecting to the mask. This kept him preserved, ripe for experimentation once Masao was dealt with. As for her, she was left to wait for hours before finally being contacted. It came in the form of mysterious dead drops that hoped to inflate her paranoia and make her steep in fear. She was to come alone to the facility. Of course, that wasn't going to happen. The implied consequence would be the risks to Enma's life, but there was a promise in the dead drops that he would be released if she complied. Unaware of how they caged him and what to anticipate, who would she call on?

Masao was pacing back and forth, having found a relatively remote side street in Tokyo where she could calm herself down and think about what to do. First up she needed to resist the urge to panic and just run in without a plan. Whoever had Enma were also strong or capable enough to capture him. That meant going about this alone was most likely impossible, but she couldn't call the whole Heroes Association either and risk any harm being done to him. The dead drops did nothing to calm her down and only wore at her mind. Was he safe? What harm were they doing to him? Who were they even in the first place? ... Why couldn't they have taken her and left Enma out of it? If she had been kidnapped, Enma would have known what to do. He would probably have handled all this by now. Taking out her phone she pulled up her list of contacts. Misaki and Ylva were both out of town or busy, so she couldn't reasonably ask them to do something so dangerous with her. Scrolling down a little further she got to Jun, her finger hovering over the call button as she began to sweat. Jun and her were both sticklers for the rules, and Masao shouldn't be thinking about rescuing Enma all on her own, she still didn't have a license and she knew it. However, the part of her that was prideful about being seen as a good and righteous hero was being drowned out by the part that was screaming to hell with the rules, I need to save Enma. Before she knew it she had pressed call. ''Kanjo-san?...'' She paused immediately, unsure of what to even say in the event that she picked up. ''I know this sounds insane, but... Could I ask a favor of you?'' She did her best to sound composed and act like nothing was wrong, but she couldn't hide her emotions in the tone of her voice. She often bore a stoic facade, but Masao had always been bad at hiding her true feelings. ''I need you to come meet me in Tokyo. I will send you the coordinates, it's not too far away. However, it is imperative that you come alone. And... Come equipped.'' Before Jun could really question her about what was going on she hung up, letting out a nervous sigh as she kept pacing and looking around her to make sure no one snuck up on her. She rested her hand on Raiju's hilt, holding onto it firmly as she waited. It was the one part of Enma they hadn't taken from her yet, and she was going to return it to him once he was safe from whatever this hell was. enma, junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The universe expanded behind Jun, rainbow streams of light in her wake as she soared through the cosmos. She had the power of the Guardians at her fingertips, she could do anything, be anyone! All she had to do now was- She started as some noise near her head went off, the feeling of a sudden stop deep in her chest as she looked up. Several books were open in front of her, preparing of a test. It took her a moment before her vision cleared and the realization she was getting a call. Was it Yaoyao? Maybe she was reminding her to get some sleep, which would be ironic. "Hello? Oh, hi Masao." She wiped at her eyes, trying to get an idea of what was going on. "Yeah, sure. You alright?" As Jun listened there was...something. An edge. That was an edge, right? The more she talked the more Jun heard it, listening to it more than the request. "Are...you in some kind of trou- wait!" Before she could finish Masao had hung up, leaving Jun alone in the dark. Come equipped? This sounds...sketchy. She didn't have to worry about falling back asleep, a burst of adrenaline had woken her up. Whatever this was, she couldn't come equipped; her hero suit had the harness, and the winches didn't work without that. If she went dressed in that, she could get into trouble. And she'd temporarily risk her old Nightlite persona, but there was no equipment in that outside of a mask and a hoodie, and that stuff was in Osaka. So...she'd have to figure something out and hope that things weren't bad. She debated sending a text to Iphi, and had started to type a message, but decided against that. She had gotten into trouble with her once already, and she didn't want to risk that again. At least...not yet. Getting put together, including with a throwaway ball cap, she headed out towards the rendezvous. Once she had the coordinates she'd calmly approach Masao, keeping an eye on her surroundings. "You cut off too quick. What's going on?" enma, Masao Ando,

[attr="class","pwficon"] [attr="class","pwficonbg"] [attr="class","pwfbody"] A tip was all it took for Olivia to mobilize. After her time with Bakuretsu and The Mummy she found herself restless at the idea of more experimentation going on around Tokyo. She didn't trust people and she sure as hell didn't trust a bunch of shady scientists taking whatever they pleased from whoever they wanted. [break][break]
If that wasn't enough, they had taken something from her that was very, very personal. She wasn't exactly a fan of doing things this way, as in attacking head-on, but she didn't have a choice. No one she could call on for support was available, so armed to the teeth, she made her way across the rooftops towards the area of the bay.[break][break]
Getting closer, she spotted two people suspiciously huddled up near her destination, and her eyes narrowed as she weighed her options. Were they just civilians? or were they part of a patrol? Ultimately, she didn't care if they were part of this 'secret project' if they were they wouldn't want to bring attention to this place so she was free to go all out. Dropping down behind them, she would point the blade of her weapon at them from a distance. "Wanna tell me the name of your boss who took my stuff before I kill you?" She would alternate, pointing the blade's tip at the two girls. "Either way, I'm going inside to kill your boss, so last chance."

A soft glow came from a gemstone, and as Jun got accustomed to the darkness the gears in her head started to turn. "Wait, does this have to do with-" she stopped, realizing any incriminating statements could turn around to bite them in the butt. So she did what she normally did in situations like this: she improvised. Poorly. "Uh...Saber," she starts, addressing Masao and putting emphasis on the alias in the hopes the other redhead would catch on. "Is...this an ex of yours...? I'm not judging, but uh. She seems kinda verbose. No offense, Miss." She looked over at Olivia, tilting her head. "We're not here to kill anyone. Please put the sword away? When Jun finally caught up to Masao she was sitting on the side of the street, hands trembling with worry as she stared down at the ground idly. When Jun approached her she stood up suddenly, a feeling of relief washing over her that she still had someone she could rely on, someone who hadn't been taken by whoever was after her and her friends. ''It's Enma, he's-...'' She tensed up when she noticed a stranger approach. Was this the people that had taken Enma, finally showing up to give her an update, or harm her too? ''E-Ex?'' She was mortified at the thought, but quickly got between them before Jun could fire off any crazy quirk attacks. ''No, wait, wait, I think there has been some kind of misunderstanding here.'' She looked over at Olivia. ''My boss? I do not work for anyone, we're here because these people kidnapped one of our allies.'' She was trying to use unspecific language, while also cluing Jun in at the same time. Hopefully she had seen Enma's sword Raiju before, and would recognize that she was carrying it on her person. ''I believe there is no reason for us to fight, what is your name? I'm... Saber.'' Okay, she definitely wasn't a natural born liar. Heck, she was straight A's student, she wasn't the type to get into situations like this! She had never even skipped class before. ''This is my friend...'' She indicated to Jun with one hand and looked over at her. ''80k Warrior.''junsuina, Olivia Liang, enma

[attr="class","body"] The night was young. As two friends and an unlikely ally would gather together, they would be ignorant to the trials ahead. The mysterious scientist behind the first assault on Masao and Enma had a plethora of terrible creations. Amalgamations of technology and biochemistry. The truest form of biomancer was someone willing to push boundaries, crossing them even. What lied ahead didn't possess the malleable nature of Nomu, but with the historically young presence of quirks came a wave of inevitable evils in science. Within the warehouse were what the media would call the Cyberpsychoes, but this scientist would refer to them as Chimera. Versatility engineered, artificial and with their humanity shattered by modification. The mistake made here was that the palates needed their humanity removed, whereas one could only imagine that Nomu might never have possessed it in the first place. At the very least, the monsters awaiting these three were more immature, though still deadly. The gate ahead would be ajar, allowing them free entrance. Nobody would stop them from intruding, from defying the orders that Masao was precisely given. The complex was a base floor and second floor, the second floor being all office space and the base being all processing. Whatever criminal activity passed through here played a role in the operations and terrible experimentation. The second floor was likely a skeleton meant to be filled with meat when optics needed to be maintained. The desolate base floor would have not been touched for weeks in preparation of this night. Once they entered, the very back would have their next destination. An elevator with nothing obstructing them seemingly as only the safety marks and empty warehouse shelves remained. They weren't even blocking the path, all of them sorted into the left and right and enough space for large vehicles to fill the center. With hundreds of feet between the entrance before the party and the elevator that would most likely be centered in their view, it was...too easy. Half-way through, it could be clearly seen by the safety lights a wide smear of blood extending all the way to the elevator. No sign, no sounds, but the message was clear. Step over this horizon, you will abandon your safety.

[attr="class","pwficon"] [attr="class","pwficonbg"] [attr="class","pwfbody"] Olivia raised an eyebrow at how cavalier these two were being. Either they were dumb, arrogant or maybe a bit of both. Even at Jun's request she wouldn't put her sword away that was exactly what would get her killed. She was outnumbered sadly without Arsenal around and wasn't going to turn her back to them. "Uh-huh. Saber and 80k Warrior." She didn't buy it for a second but that didn't matter. [break][break]
"My name doesn't matter. Even if you are with those guys, it doesn't matter. They took something of mine, and I'm going to get it back." She would push past Masao and Jun. "If you don't wanna be killed with your boss or you ARE innocents, I suggest you go back the way you came." She would take out a small glass cutter and ready it as she approached the building, scaling the outside with her shoes and scouting out the area. Assuming the place was clear, she would carve a hole big enough for her to fight in and drop inside. These people were about to take a 'Journey' all right, straight to the grave.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun frowned, her displeasure at this interloper evident but not enough to cause trouble. She slowly let her arm down, looking over at Masao. That...name could use a little work. A lot of work, if she was being honest. But...maybe this would be a good time to dust off her old vigilante persona. "I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume she's only involved for other reasons," she says, dropping her voice so only Masao could hear. "I can read between the lines, and this is very dumb and very reckless, especially for you. If we get caught..." She closed her eyes, remembering being grilled by both the police and Recall. It was not pleasant. It was this time she wished she had other gemstones on her aside from quartz; her piercings could be used, but that was for emergencies only. "Figure out a way to use your quirk that can't be traced to you. Trust me, it helps...and don't dig into that. It seems we're going in blind, so lets be careful." She brought her hat down a little lower, wishing she had some means of hiding her face. It was too late for that, though. She looked up at the mysterious stranger as she climbed up, taking in a small breath. "Whether you like it or not, we're coming with you! It seems our goals are similar, so try not to get into any trouble once you're in!" She indicated for Masao to follow, jogging partway down a way to find an easier way up. "I hope you're good with verticality, we have to be quick. I don't trust that woman, and if she's serious about killing people we have to at least blunt those efforts of her. If things do circle back to us, we could be implicated in murder." Of that Jun was certain. As she helped Masao up to the next story, she decided to set something straight. "Also, that alias you gave me...it's kind of a mouthful. Just call me 'Nitelight'." Once they were up Jun would make an effort to catch up with Olivia, dropping down behind her and letting herself adjust to the darkness. "Let me take point," she says, doing her best to keep her voice low, "and we'll figure out where to go from here." enma, Masao Ando, junsuina, Olivia Liang,

She only realized how bad their fake names was after the fact and just gave a nod and unsure, ''...That's right.'' before looking over at Jun, sending her a silent apology. She looked at Olivia as she walked past them and she wanted to follow after her, but not before having a quick exchange with Jun. ''IF we get caught?'' She lowered her voice too, trying to match Jun's tone. ''To hell with the rules, Kanjo-san! They took Enma, I'll worry about something as superficial as my career after I know he is safe.'' It was reckless for someone like her who didn't usually act like this, but between a future as a hero and the man she loved she knew what she was going to choose. For a moment she even thought Jun might not be coming with them, but her advice quickly reassured her. The fact that Jun was so conscious about all of this didn't strike her as suspicious in the moment. All she could think about was Enma and whether he was okay. ''Nitelight, okay.'' She replied, her hands trembling as they entered the premises. Jun was worried about any murder the stranger committed being put on them, but honestly, Masao wasn't even sure she could hold herself back from killing to save her boyfriend. ''She's right, we're coming with. I'm not leaving until I have saved him.'' She deliberately didn't say Enma's name, just in case. ''I was told to come alone.'' She did her best to keep an eye out for any ambushes while sticking close to the others. ''If they see you now they might realize something is up. That is, if they were even intending to honor their words in the first place.'' These were presumably villains after all. As they walked through the base floor she couldn't help but feel extremely creeped out. Whatever activity had been going on here it definitely wasn't legal or ethical. She quietly steeled herself when she saw the blood smear extending to the elevator. ''Let's go, they're clearly expecting us, Nitelight, No-Name.''junsuina, Olivia Liang, enma

[attr="class","body"] As the students and the roguish Lang would enter the facility, the eerie nature of its emptiness would be uncanny and empty. Cold. The space felt wider than it normally would as the sensation of nothingness replaced the air. The thick smear of blood leading up the elevator was an omen to say the least, but maybe it was simply a macabre invitation to the depths below. Unbeknownst to them, a chameleon of shadow would observe the unlikely alliance and see as they closed in on the elevator. In the abyss of this nightmarish facility, a coated figure would continue experiments in preparation for something. A blood sample being analyzed, a shadowy figure distantly behind them. "Hm, a resilient body made entirely from hard work. Taking her paramour was more beneficial than I thought. How much to keep him?" The shadowy figure, carrying a mechanized katana would pace back and forth. The laboratory was full of contraptions and partially-completed humanoid and beastly machines. This person was designing monsters of mechanized ingenuity, an illustrator of a dark mind and artificer of artificial beings. The shadowy figure would look to the center, looking to the tip of the device that plunged Enma deep into his watery prison. A cylinder full of water to stabilize the pressure upon his body. "I think it's appropriate that I allow you to keep those samples, but I'll take him once you deal with the Ando girl. As per our agreement. For now," A rainbow glint on the shadowy figure's ear would briefly illuminate a set of crimson eyes and blackened hair. "They've arrived, my pet is allowing them to approach the elevator. That is my cue, I'll return if all goes well." The coated figure smiled sinisterly, snickering as his experiments continued. On the door of the elevator, bloody writing would give the group their final omen. Arrogant girl, I knew you'd doom the lives of others. Once someone reached closely to the elevator, their nightmarish trial would begin as the chameleon would unravel its shroud and reveal a complex, robotic panther that attempted to make the drop on the closest person to the elevator and threaten to tear out their throat. Vile tanks protruding from its spine, red-hot claws extending from its paws. A thick, metal tail whipping through the air. The rescue would be more complicated than anticipated. Reference

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Did love do this to a person? Make them irrational beyond belief? If so, it made Jun's dilemma even more irksome. She couldn't focus on that at all, though. She had to get in, take point, and proceed with caution. As quiet as it was, as much as nothing was happening, her trope senses had her on full alert. Things were never this simple, and if it were true that Masao was supposed to come alone (and that was a trope in of itself) then they'd also have to move fast and hard. The message on the elevator didn't help things at all. she wanted to make a wisecrack, but it'd be uncalled for and unprofessional. She also couldn't help but feel like something...was... "Watch-!" Jun spun, bringing an arm up as she felt the weight of what she perceived to be a car land on top of her. A ring flashed, chains forming around her arm just in time as its teeth attempted to clamp down on her throat, adrenaline pouring into her veins as her heart pumped like no tomorrow. She was in trouble. She had just locked herself into one emotion for the rest of the evening, and gotten herself in a dire situation. The chains cracked under the pressure; she had to put enough faith in Masao to get the thing off of her. enma, Masao Ando, junsuina, Olivia Liang,

Masao pushed all the bad thoughts away and held her feelings back when faced with the reality of what they were getting into. Everything from the smell to the blood, to the ominous elevator, it would make her imagination run wild with horror. Thoughts such as, 'what was Enma enduring?' she chose to push to the back of her mind. For the sake of the both of them, of everyone here, she couldn't afford to freak out now. She had to stay focused and be brave until she knew he was okay. ''Nitelight-san!'' Terror struck as a mechanical beast came out of nowhere and pounced on Jun. Before she could wrestle with it for too long, Masao donned her armor in a bright flash. She didn't care if Olivia now knew who she was, or if she couldn't use her quirk in a way that wouldn't incriminate her. Jun's life was in danger, and she would never forgive herself if she didn't give it her all. Her durability and strength now greatly enhanced, Masao would attempt to shoulder tackle the panther off of Jun so that she could contend with it herself. ''I recognize this design! It bears a striking resemblance to that cybernetic assailant from back then..''So it really was the same people after all? No, this didn't really confirm anything. Although she had to wonder, if they had targeted her the first time, then why hadn't they kidnapped her instead of Enma? junsuina, enma, Olivia Liang

[nospaces] [attr="class","pwfcontain"] [attr="class","pwfheader"] [attr="class","pwfhdnotes"] notes go here! they look best at two lines but you can go wild if you want since they start to scroll~
[attr="class","pwficon"] [attr="class","pwficonbg"] [attr="class","pwfbody"] While she wasn't a huge fan of being followed like this, especially with people she had never seen before if they could keep up that made it marginally better. Especially considering that Olivia would leave them for dead if things got too heated, the more skilled they were, the longer it would give her time to leave, assuming they were stupid enough to fight a losing battle. [break][break]
As long as they didn't try anything funny, she could use this to her advantage, and the second they stepped out of line, she'd be prepared to take them down as best she could, but first, she needed to observe. Jun offering to take point just made this easier as Olivia would gesture for the two to walk in front of her. She would deliberately slow down her pace, taking in her surroundings but otherwise unbothered by the carnage. Spend enough time walking around in the underworld, and you will grow numb.[break][break]
As the creature dropped on Jun, Olivia drew her weapon, reeling her arm back as her whip sword, 'Armor-Piercer,' extended and then snapped back as she brought her arm down, using the momentum to aid her in the strike. It might not have been as strong as Masao, but it was definitely sharper. Only time would tell if it held up against the creature.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Between Masao and Olivia she didn't see this creature standing much of a chance. Really, Jun shouldn't have been in front, but then again if she wasn't then she wouldn't have been able to react to the threat in time. Whoever built this really wanted a robot predator... She gave a little slack in the chains as the robot was pulled off of her, the best taking some of the chain in its mouth as she got her arm free. With the whipblade coming down on the monster's face Jun formed an anchor in her other hand and jabbed it into its "throat". While it wasn't alive, Jun figured its information center was stupidly in the head, which meant any wires severed here would cripple it. Panting hard she'd take a step back, letting her constructs dissipate. "Okay, that's new," she mutters, looking over at Masao as, despite being annoyed and wanting to ask a bunch of questions, she knew this was not the time. She instead turned to the elevator, pressing the down button, and weirdly finding it worked. "...Well that's a trap if I ever seen one." enma, Masao Ando, junsuina, Olivia Liang,
