Another late night and another episode of Kenko and Kinzo fighting over their cooking ideals. Unfortunately this meant that Ylva and, subsequently Kiku were also subjected to their bickering, but it was better than the alternative of being forced to interact with all the other members. Ylva tried to avoid Freja Helt as much as possible as their shared heritage and her inability to speak with conviction got on her nerves. She kept trying to make connections between the two of them, but she was too chatty. [break][break]

Kiku was different. At least when she said something it was interesting or there was a point. "I'm out. See you." She'd pack up her stuff and gesture Kiku to follow. She had mentioned wanting to grab a bite to eat earlier, and Ylva was hungry enough, so she'd head to the cafeteria with her. Ylva raised an eyebrow. Why would people think she would feed them drugs? What had happened in that class? "You have bad luck." She rounded a corner and pushed open the door connecting the building to the cafeteria. As much as she enjoyed cooking, she was there to improve her skills, not eat like some people did. It was all about being faster and expanding your knowledge; any idiot could find their preferred palette.[break][break]

She would pop out her earplugs to hear Kiku properly and put them in her pocket. Kenko and Kinzo were loud, and she found out pretty early on that with some earplugs, you could make the club bearable. She wore knee-high boots, a long skirt, and a tan sweater with her backpack on. Luckily, she had a spot to hang up her apron, so she didn't have to lug that around with her.[break][break]



Making her way into the virtually empty cafeteria, she would grab a tray and walk with Kiku over to place an order: "Mørbradgryde, Græskar Suppe, and a milkshake, please." Luckily, the UAU cafeteria had a varied staff that could make anything; otherwise, they'd be baffled at her order, which was ultimately just pork tenderloin and pumpkin soup. Ylva would wait for Kiku, pick a table, and sit across from her "Internship." She took a bite out of her meal. "You can get credits through internships, and depending on whether you have your provisional license or not, they can ask you or excuse you from certain classes. Bansho doesn't care about PR, and that's why I went there." She was actually headhunted since Bansho didn't really take on anyone who asked. "Can't get you in even if I wanted to, though." Which she genuinely wouldn't mind at all given the opportunity. [break][break]

Following Ylva with slumped shoulders, she would overhear the order that her friend made and wouldn't recognize any of those words either.  She soon noted to have her phone on standby next time Ylva ordered so she can do a quick google translating, but would find herself next up to order, "Mushroom Risotto and a Decaf Coffee.  Black." Upon getting hers, Kiku trotted over to meet up with Ylva at her table and had sat across from her associate.  She would share her secret about how her internship had given her credit, which caused Kiku a frown as that sounded like a first year issue.  Taking a sip from her coffee, it was revealed that Bansho was her internship office.  "Lucky, I probably don't have any offers from my performance in the Sports Festival.  I fought against a student who could transform into a dinosaur, my partner during our leg race basically carried and dragged me to the finish line, and I couldn't even do much in the water..." Kiku bemoaned as she feared for future classes with Fae King.  Her eyes would give an expectant look towards Ylva to see if she could pull any strings, but apparently her friend was on the same wavelength and already shot her down.  Letting a deep sigh out, Kiku would take a couple bites of her food.  "Hopefully a practical class happens sooner than later, as I don't plan on being a public daytime hero," Kiku hoped aloud. Ylva agreed with gambling. Only an idiot left things up to chance when you could just guarantee success. It was all about results or at least that's what Ylva was told growing up. "Have you checked?" Ylva wasn't surprised she received offers after the Sports Festival, but she was surprised that an agency like Bansho wanted her to join them. "I get that." Ylva hated the spotlight too; she did what she had to do to be number one, but if she had her way, she would avoid nearly everyone all the time. "Depends on what teacher you find. There was Stellar, who taught a Super Moves class, but from what I've heard, she's really chatty, so I wouldn't do that if I were you." She took another bite of her rye bread, which she dipped into the soup. "I don't know any other teachers who are like us." she would place her finished bowl of soup and move onto the next part of her meal "If I were you I'd focus on taking more credits. Kikurage herself was unsure why she was able to get along with Ylva, because she really didn't know much about Ylva besides the upperclassman had a demeanor similar to hers.  Granted, Kikurage didn't really have much in the way of actual friendships, so maybe this was her compensating for that?  It was really hard to tell, the redhead just liked her ice-cold friend.  But it was the response in kind that didn't seek to tear down who Kikurage was, but rather opted to give beneficial comments that would remark on Stellar having taught a Super Moves class.  But the teacher was apparently chatty, which caused the more inexperienced student to just shrivel a little bit.  "I don't mind chatty as long as they don't expect me to be chatty...  I think," Kiku would rationalize and justify, trying to gaslight herself into putting up with some of the more nonsensical nature of UA University. Ylva admitted that there probably aren't any other teachers who were as level headed as the two of them.  "Honestly figures, people like us would rather have our arms amputated before thinking about teaching dumb young adults, heh," Kikurage lamented with a sigh, having taken several bites of her Risotto almost downing it in its entirety.  The silence was a bit nice until Ylva offered some advice, talking about how her friend should take more credits. Kiku would slow her eating to a crawl, pausing for a moment as she would absolutely enjoy getting her credits done.  If that was all she was here to do at UAU, Kikurage would just do everything in her power to blow through as many credits as possible in one go.  "Not Until,..." Kiku almost mindlessly replied, before her eyes widened and mouth shut quite sharply upon realizing what she was about to admit.  Almost looking like she was about to choke on something, the mycomancer would grab hold of her coffee and chug half of that down to open up her nervous-tightening throat. That was...  Very odd, as Kiku would have made some hollow attempt at saying she would.  No no, she was going to do it this time, she was going to tell Ylva that she'll take that advice- "I have...  Something I need to do here. Before I can even think about graduating," Kikurage started to confide a bit, her face growing a layer of nervousness over it as her own mind was screaming in confusion.  Her plans all required her to keep her yap shut and her head down, as what the redhead wanted to do in her life could easily skew into heavily illegal territories.  And yet, something about Ylva was comfortable enough to think about potentially using her and getting to know her, someone who might not judge her for such dark ambitions. Ylva had tons of bad experiences where she had tried to get by just by her conduct in class and not contributing socially, but that always seemed to bring her more attention. Heck, before Kiku every time she tried to just be by herself someone would interrupt her peace and quiet with some nonsense. Was that different than what Kiku did by landing on her veggies? No, not at all, but she took the right steps to own up to it and did it in a way that wasn't annoying.[break][break]

While she could clearly tell something was up as Kiku was anything but subtle she continued to eat without saying anything. It wasn't her business to get into whatever Kiku had going on, she'd help if asked but Ylva wasn't exactly the most proactive person. Even letting out a small snicker as that was genuine amusement, whilst she took Ylva's dishes and returned them to the cafeteria staff.  Using the time to properly formulate how she wanted to share her current woe, which wasn't very well put together by the time she returned to the table.  But maybe this was an opportun- Kikurage's phone would buzz just as she reached the table, which upon pulling it out of her skirt pocket she would see the notification of Iphi's internship offer was legitimate.  "Oooh...?"  She hummed out in disbelief, "Recall offered an internship to me earlier during PR Class.  I thought it was an empty gesture, but looks like that Ouros offer was legitimate and now I'm interning with them sometime soon..." Thinking out loud, she was admittedly stalling on the actual subject matter.  Just finding the right words to say, and still reaching nothing.  It was then that she decided to flat out just say it, rip the bandage as it were.  Shaking her head and taking a breath, she let it slip finally. "My Dad was...  murdered by someone who was attending UAU here eight years ago.  At least, that's what I think as a couple documents my mother saved had UAU Letterhead.  I intend to figure out who it is, and...  yeah..." Her voice trailed off as she was unsure of what she would do.  On the one hand she wanted him to face justice, but at the same time she wanted to avenge her father. Kiku would give pause with a raised eyebrow, before watching her eyes gaze out over the cafeteria.  Ylva began finishing the rest of her milkshake as her friend offered to let Kiku stay over for the not, which the mushroom comment caused the redhead to pout a little with a gaze turned away and cheek a little puffed up.  "You haven't lived until you slept on a mushroom, it's like a cloud." A moment of stubborn defiance, she would give pause before looking back to Ylva and meeting her eyes.  "...  Er, don't take me wrong.  I still want to go to your dorm with you.  You can also visit my dorm anytime," Correcting herself as she looked forward to spending more time with Ylva.  Kiku just felt better about herself with Ylva around, it was hard to explain why she felt good enough to even consider potentially letting go of her grudge. Anyone else giving that reaction to Ylva opening up a bit about her family situation would have made her leave the conversation immediately. Truthfully, she was struggling a bit with the lack of contact from her parents since the Sports Festival; they weren't happy with her placement even though she did well.
