His eyes slowly grew wide as he comprehended the workings behind Farrin's Quirk. To tell her the way he used it was innovative would be an understatement. "Crazy." What else was there to say really? The guy could speed up and slow down air. A thing that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Well technically it's wind which made more sense but still.

"But right, black, since the light wouldn't be travelling to anyone's eyes if it stayed still. That idea's not related to the super-heated energy you wanted to avoid doin' is it?"

Kei cracked a smile as she was getting his thought process. "Exactly! I get the wires though, still needed so it'll be easier for you to direct the energy. There's just no further additions to that part so no one else can make use of it. I also like the idea of usin' it to repeat forces and storage. Everyone expects one strong hit with a punch but not two. Work smarter, not harder."

He hummed at her suggestion. "Huh. I never thought to use the arms as four hoses." The support student moved to take his device again and squinted at it. "It's gonna be awkward connectin' my hands to the pack. I'd probably need to run a plastic tube filled with water down my arms and attach the ends to the palms of my hands." He squatted a bit so he was eye-level with his gear. "Or just go with the tanks and refill 'em periodically."

"Right?" Miroru nodded along, and again to confirm Kei's grasp of the situation. However, he led straight into calling her out. "I, ah... no comment..?" She laughed weakly, then rubbed the back of her head. "Ya got me. That's pretty much it exactly. If I was really backed into a corner, if I deliberately overused my quirk, I could generate heat on the spot. It'd have to burn its way out from my veins through my arms, but I could harvest it into a feedback loop to burn oxygen for more energy. It just wouldn't be at all useful until I was already significantly injured, you know..?"

She didn't have anything to add as he summed up her ideas and praised them, eyes bright, ears perky and spirits high! "Smarter, not harder, is basically my life motto!" He moved back to the pack, though, and she tilted her head.

"Would it really be that complicated? Could you do something like- run those lines, but just feed them into dense sponges at the base of your palm? That'd keep you in contact with the water, and could totally just be part of a sleeve cuff, really. Or-"

Miroru paused and slapped her forehead. "OR! Even easier, if you had deployable handles with dense sponge grips, you wouldn't hardly need to store any water at all! Just enough to fill the handles, and as soon as you gripped them to aim the sprays, you'd immediately be able to blast water through the handles into and out of the arms! Then all you'd really need was a channel the water could pass through under pressure!"

Kei couldn't help but let out a hiss of sympathy. "Cookin' your arms from the inside. Yeah, that's one way of goin' out with a bang." He laughed. That was such a terrible joke, why did he say that? "Sorry."

He smiled though, glad his advice helped. "Well if you need help gettin' those projectors to work let me know! I specialize in utility devices. Though I get it if you don't need it, those boots look great." Sometimes he forgot that people outside the support department could make their own tools too. He was so used to getting requests from the hero students especially to have something made for them.

His eyes widened at Miroru's suggestion with the sponges and he let out a gasp. He almost slapped his own forehead as well for not thinking of it sooner. "Right, deployable! I keep assumin' that I always have to stay in contact with the source. It's not like the water would just go away if I don't touch it." Kei clapped his hands together, eyeing his Quarms (huh, maybe he might keep the name) with new interest before grinning at the fox. "Thank you, really!"

With everything the pair had talked about, the time had absolutely flown by. Miroru noted, but rather than interrupt their conversation, she simply started packing up her things so she wouldn't overstay her scheduled welcome in the lab. "Oh, no, that's exactly the idea- enough energy condensed into a small enough point and released all at once would violently supercharge everything around it and create a pressure wave of hyperheated atmosphere and vaporized materials. It'd be a literal bang if released all at once, or a sustainable- if extremely painful- way to generate energy if released under control."

She nodded at the offer and threw him a thumbs up. "I'd really appreciate that, actually- in fact, if you don't mind walking and talking, I'd love to get some tips for putting together a practical prototype- maybe we could finetune it next time we run across each other?"

Being able to give Kei some clever ideas for the Quarms lit Miroru up like fireworks, clearly absolutely delighted to have contributed something to his own designs! "It's okay, that's what fresh eyes are good for! We take what we already think we know for granted so easily that overlooking simple solutions can get clogged with our own presumptions, you know?"

Kei nodded in understanding. "Yeah I figured that was the case, so I do hope that's not somethin' you'll need to pull often." The world was dangerous but who knows, maybe Miroru will become strong enough to never have to take such drastic measures.

Noticing the way she was collecting her things, he looked at his watch and his eyes widened. "Woah, that time already?" God, and he was trying not to spend all his hours in the lab today too. Another failed attempt. He sighed as he collected the Quarms to put it away, though he did turn his head to her and smiled at the offer. "Oh sure, I can walk with ya!" It was as good an opportunity as any to drag himself out of his work. Especially since he was getting hungry.

A sheepish laugh escaped him as he placed the device on the shelf. "Exactly. I was workin' on this for so long I ran out of ideas on how it could be improved." He really was thankful he could talk about it to someone who's never seen it before. Miroru did give it a new perspective. "I'm definitely done hackin' away for now though. Let's go."

With his creation safely tucked away and his bag on his back, Kei joined the girl in leaving the lab, carrying on their tech talk all the while.
