Two decades of solitude can really mess with a person–and Yukine is a prime example of this. Anyone who interacts with him would describe him as quiet and dreamy. His speech is often disjointed, as if the thoughts got lost somewhere along the way towards his mouth. Sustained only by maladaptive daydreams, Yukine became a shell of the boy he once was.

He’s no fool, though. Glimmers of Yukine’s shrewd mind seeps through in his keen observations of people and situations. For as absentminded as he may seem, he has a good grasp of his surroundings. Yukine can be completely candid, without seeming rude. Perhaps it has something to do with his utter lack of meanness.

Deep down, Yukine is terrified of being alone. He’ll go to great lengths to curry favor with those he’s taken a liking too, tending towards clinginess that can be suffocating for some. It also makes him very easy to manipulate because he is so eager to please.

Yukine is his most lucid when it comes to his special interests, the most prevalent being aliens, space, and local cryptids. Although believing in cryptids is somewhat archaic given the prevalence of quirks, Yukine believes that these are the predecessors to modern quirked beings, and that they hail from– you guessed it– space.

As a being whose body is electric, Yukine’s appearance doesn’t fit conventional human parameters. In its natural state, it looks like a crackling human silhouette of black or white, with two holes where eyes would go (crackling the opposite color of his body). Their natural form tends to be temperamental (and runs the risk of shocking anyone nearby), so it appears very scarcely. Mostly, he remains in the walls/in the wiring of whatever building he inhabits, exercising his will over the electronics that are plugged into the outlets. When out, it crackles and fluctuates in size, fizzling at the edges.

What people see most often would be Yukine’s exo-suit– a robotic full-body prosthetic that he can pilot to interact with the world. Presently, he occupies a small, humanoid suit that stands at about two feet tall. It is dark gray at the joints with orange plating from head-to-toe. Its face is a small LCD screen which presents different chibi-ish faces as a means of emoting/emulating speech. A visor sits just over the screen, like the bill of a hat, with two white accent stripes running down the middle of the suit’s head. Two fins protrude on either side of the head, which raise and lower like rabbit ears. It is hoped that, with more time, the creator of the exo-suit can build a bigger/more humanoid shell, but for now this works just fine.

Yukine remembers very little from before his death. He thinks that his life was pretty normal. He knows that he had a mom, a dad, and an older sister, but he can’t remember their faces or names. He thinks they even had a dog. He had to have gone to school, because every child does… and he hopes that he was a good student… but he probably was not, because Yukine knows that in life, he was very sickly. He remembers being in The House before he was even part of The House, laying in bed, being tended-to by his mother and a host of medical professionals. His parents poured so much time, money, and resources into making their son better… to no avail.

Yukine died in The House. And that was the beginning of his problems. You see, when most people die, that’s The End. Whether they go to Heaven, or get reincarnated, or something else entirely– their present life ends.

This was not the case for Yukine.

As his body died, his organs shutting down one-by-one, the electrical pulses in his brain magnified, freeing themselves from the flesh that could no longer contain them. He remembers the nurse’s scream as she witnessed his Quirk manifest, the bio-electricity that  once powered his body forming the specter that now loomed before her. It expanded as it searched for a new vessel, any vessel that could contain it. It arced towards the nurse, but she fled. Then the wiring in the walls of the house grabbed hold of Yukine, entrapping him.

Initially, his parents remained in the house– for weeks, perhaps, or months– and Yukine tried to talk to them, making the lights flicker, switching appliances on-and-off. Electricians were called, first– but they found nothing. Then, spiritual counsel from all denominations were summoned– but their attempts at “cleansing” the house did nothing for the literal electric being that now rattled around in the walls.

Unable to find a solution, the living Yukine's family fled, believing their son’s vengeful spirit was now after them. For the year following Yukine’s death, they tried to sell the house at a discount, still fully furnished. But with each visitor, Yukine would cry for help, and any potential buyers would see the apparent poltergeist activity and flee. The power was shut-off, trapping Yukine in the home, and the house was left permanently abandoned.

As his mind faltered,  his grasp of time and self became less and less.  He watched as the dust built and the yard became overgrown, as the ceiling sagged, as people scurried past, and as he was forgotten. The old Kobayashi house became a hotspot for urban explorers, paranormal investigators, and transients alike. Sometimes in a burst of clarity and frustration, Yukine would come alive, frightening those that occupied his home. But, for the most part, Yukine has been alone, surrendering to the idea that he'll forever be imprisoned in his former home until he's too far gone to even remember who he was.

As beings enter into his range, Yukine can sense their presence as soon as they touch the ground. Likewise, he can zap people at-will, though this facet of his quirk still lacks precision. He can also manipulate electronics, to an extent– by turning them on or off, charging them, or frying the circuitry all together.
[b]QUIRK DRAWBACKS:[/b] Firstly, Yukine must be connected to a circuit in order to survive. If his exo-suit were to be destroyed and he wasn't close to, say, a battery or a building with electricity, he would simply dissipate and cease to exist. When he tries to shock someone (shooting electricity from beyond his exo-suit, or through an outlet, it arcs towards the nearest target. This increases the risk of friendly fire. In order to zap anything, he needs to either be touching it directly, or it needs to be touching the ground at the same time he is. If Yukine were to emerge from an outlet, touching him would just feel like static so long as he’s calm.
