A typhoon is due to hit Tokyo tomorrow.

A typhoon? It had to be some kind of a big deal since they were getting weather forecasts about it the day before, but why would a little bit of wind and rain keep people indoors? It wasn't like Danes let that stop them. The weather would have to be truly terrible for anything to shutdown in Denmark and so, Freja had never really experienced terrible weather.

Not until she woke up howling winds, roaring thunder and clouds so dark you would think the end times were coming. She stayed in bed for a while, watching the disaster from behind the safety of her window and her walls. Freja had plans to go out into Tokyo to explore today but... Yeah, didn't look like she was going anywhere. What time was it even? Groggy and rubbing one eye she reached for her phone.

5AM?!

Great. She should have gone to sleep earlier last night. Not like she needed any more things to bother her and keep her awake. She had enough nightmares as is. As she scrolled through her phone she wondered if Rin or Emi had left the dorms at all, or if they were staying inside like her. At this hour? Not even the super fit and enthusiastic Emi would have left the house surely. Either way, Freja swung her legs over the side of her bed and grabbed her hairbrush. It wasn't every day that she started her day this early, might as well take advantage of the fact that the screeching winds were keeping her from falling back asleep. After having tamed the worst of her bedhead she yawned, strolling out into their kitchenette area to boil some water for her morning coffee.

Rin was dead asleep, half-curled and half tilted diagonally across her bed and completely bundled up save for one hand and part of an arm. Her phone was in bed next to her, dropped when she passed out in the middle of using it the night before. She didn't hear anything about the weather and slept right through the sounds of wind and rain picking up right until that first big crack of thunder. Then she was wide awake suddenly flailing and sending her phone clear off the side of her bed as she tried to hastily get up - only to get tangled in her blankets and tip over the side of her bed with an undignified "Gwack!" sound as she followed her phone to the floor.

With a quiet whine and rolling over to lay on her side for a moment, Rin wasn't sure what was going on yet. Only that this wasn't the best way to start a day. Maybe she could just disappear under her bed if she rolled under it? Another loud crack of lightning startled her, and the brunette scrambled to her feet and scooped up her phone off the ground. Tucking her blankets around herself for comfort and safety, Rin cautiously ventured out of her room and glanced around to see if her roommates were also woken up by the storm.

She saw Freja, making coffee it seemed?

"D... Did the storm wake you up too, Freja-sa-" Another crack of thunder and Rin flinched, cutting herself off as she scrunched her shoulders down and hid just a little bit more in her blanket. Peeking one eye open, realizng she was making a fool of herself, Rin did her best to straighten up a bit and give a weak smile as she tried and failed to act more casual about the weather outside. "Its very... loud, isn't it?"

"A typhoon??" Emi had been on the phone with her mother the night prior as she went over the weather for the area. If there was one thing her mother loved almost as much as her own children it was watching the news for the weather. This had become a regular occurrence given that her family had lived in so many different countries with different climates. Now more than ever, since both of her children were living in different places, she was vigilant and once she got word of the typhoon warning she called even at 3 am her time to let her know. "Yes ma'am. Yes ma'am. Yes, I have it all charged up. No, we have plenty and the school is going to keep the cafeteria open. Okay, I'll let you know. Love you too bye!" she hung up exhaling deeply as she collapsed onto her reinforced bed. She was still a little uncomfortable with her new living arrangements having never lived outside of the house with her family and figured that both Freja and Rin would get the notification anyways. Checking the 'survival' kit her dad made her take with her to college she figured if there was ever a time to use it would likely be tomorrow. So setting her phone on the charger she decided to pack it in early, setting her alarm for 4am so she would be able to get an early meal and make some food in advance in case they lost power.

Having woken up a full hour before either of her roommates did she got to work early making bento that would last through the storm even if they lost power. At least keeping the fridge closed would slow down any bacteria and she had made plenty even the other two while still taking into consideration her extra appetite. Finishing up just a few minutes prior to the other two waking up she went back into the room with, half-eaten food in hand, to get a sweater and upon her return, she startled herself so bad she almost dropped her food. In the minutes she was gone both Freja and Rin had appeared which was not what she was expecting at this hour. "S-sorry!" she said bowing, hoping she hadn't startled either of the "girls" in rerinturn "I heard about the typhoon so I made a few meals to hopefully last if we lose power. Please help yourselves!" her face burned red as she awkwardly took a seat at the table, not daring to look up at the two girls standing so close as she continued to eat.

''Hey Rin..'' She covered her mouth with one hand as she yawned, not as scared of the thunder now that she was up and out of bed. She couldn't help but let out a little giggle at Rin's antics. If Freja ever thought she was skittish it was because she hadn't met Rin yet. ''Yeah, are you okay Rin? You don't handle storms that well, do you?'' She flashed her a warm smile. She didn't mean to sound judgmental or anything. ''You want something? Tea, coffee? I'm boiling water.'' She said as she turned back to the kettle.

Freja flinched when Emi walked out, if only because she seemed pretty rattled to see them. ''H-Huh? What?? N-No need to apologize!'' She looked at Rin, then Emi, back and forth between both girls. One was wrapped in her blanket jumping at the sound of thunder and the other was bowing and apologizing. What kind of a crazy morning did she sign up for? ''Wait, you did?'' Freja rushed over to check the fridge and sure enough! Enough bento for the three of them. ''Emi, that's nothing to apologize over, you're amazing!'' It wasn't until a few moments later that her brain finally caught up with her stomach. ''...We can lose power? There's no way it'll actually get that bad right? It's just a storm.'' She looked over at the kettle and internally prayed that the water would boil faster so that they could have hot drinks before the power yeeted on them. ''Are you okay, Emi?'' She wasn't looking at her at all, not her nor Rin. Was there a hint of a red face? It was hard to tell.

Freja looked over at Rin, as if she was looking for help on what to do next. ''Say the power does go out-''

"Ah, hello!" Rin hastily chimed in after Freja greeted her - with the storm she'd forgotten to actually do that and was mentally kicking herself now. At least she seemed amused instead of offended, and Rin gave her a wobbly sort of smile before nodding. "Not... Not really no... and uhm, coffee or tea would both be good! Whichever is easier?"

When Emi walked out Rin was just as surprised as she was, giving a little start and twisting around to look over at her before relaxing. "Y... yeah, no need to apologize!" She chimed in with Freja, before glancing over at the fridge when Emi mentioned making food. "Thank you! You didn't need to do that." She flashed Emi a more stable smile, genuinely appreciating the effort their roommate went through on everyones behalf there. If it was just Rin left to her own devices she definitely would have ended up stranded without food. Shuffling over towards the fridge, blanket still wrapped around her, she made sure not to crowd Freja but was unmistakably interested in snagging some food for herself.

And then the power went out with another loud noise, and all lights went off and Rin couldn't help but shriek in a way that sounded a lot like a bird squawk.

Clapping her hands over her mouth in the dark, she glanced around in a futile hope that they would somehow not know it was her that made that embarrassingly awkward sound. Slowly lowering her hands and tucking the blanket around herself even more, she called out in a hesitant panick: "Emilia-s...san? Freja-san?"

Praise was not something Emi took well especially from people she wasn't super familiar with. Came with the territory of never putting down roots, wasn't exactly a situation she ran into much. She continued to munch quietly on her food until Freja addressed her directly "I-I'm fine!" she shot up suddenly, face burning, and realizing this fact she fanned her face "It's just a little hot in here, anyone else hot?" she gave a nervous half laugh and went back to eating feeling like she made things way worse.

Perhaps Freja was just cursed but there could literally have not been a better time for the power to go out than mid-sentence. Rin responded with a small yelp and shrunk down even further if it wasn't for the fright it would have been a funnier comparison between Frejas massive height and Rin's short stature. Emilia, having been made to run drills with her dad just for situations like this, she stood up and pressed her hands together, the star shapes on her palm lighting up as the floor creaked below with her added weight. A light blue glow filled the room as she lit up metaphorically and physically "We'll be okay!" she steeled herself as she tried to sound as confident as possible. "I have some stuff in my room to help! be right back" the light followed as she quickly entered her room a large exhale once she was out of earshot of the other two. 'I don't know how dad did this' she thought to herself as she brought out her survival bag. It was overstuffed but for Emilia, this wasn't much weight at all to be carrying. Bringing it back to the kitchen she placed it on the floor and riffled through until she found 3 flashlights and a few candles with matches. "Benefits of having an army family" she gave a nervous laugh as she flicked on her flashlight turning off her quirk at the same time to prep lighting the candles.

''Coffee it is! Back home we don't drink much tea.'' If she could convince another person to start drinking coffee that was a win in her book. ''Hot?'' She blinked her eyes at Emi. ''Not really.'' She said, completely oblivious. Freja was startled when the lights went out, but not nearly as bad as Rin. If anything, Rin's squawk scared her more than the actual power outage. ''It's too late for me, Rin.'' She responded, holding her arms out to either side dramatically as she turned to look up at the ceiling. ''Thor has already struck me down. Mjölnir found its target at last. I'm-'' She opened her eyes to look over at Emi... Glowing???

''Eh?''

And just like that she was off, getting supplies for them. Maybe Freja just missed it, but was Emi raised by doomsday preppers or something. She would have given Rin a puzzled look if she could even read facial expressions in this darkness. When Emi came back with the supplies she let out a quick ''Nice!'' In English before grabbing one of the flashlights.

''Army family?'' She said as she lit her face up with the flashlight like one would telling a scary ghost story, except Freja wasn't making a creepy face. ''Like, they all served or something?'' Army family was kind of like doomsday preppers wasn't it? Or survivalists or something. ''Did you have to get up early every day and like, train at the crack of dawn?'' This entire time the flashlight was still pointed at her face. ''By the way, how are you glowing?'' She asked Emi, having thought about it the entire time while she was getting supplies.

Rin gave Freja a smile on deciding on coffee, relieved her roommate wasn't the type to insist she make a decision. She honestly would have been fine with either anyways, and she gave a polite little "Ahh" of understanding at the mention of where Freja was from. She started to chime in to agree with Emi that it was hot, mostly to try and help with the obviously uncomfortable situation, but then Freja said it wasn't hot and that... that meant agreeing with one of them would be disagreeing with the other one and she didn't want to offend Freja or Emi.

So Rin didn't say anything at all, at least until she was screeching awkwardly over the power outage.

"It... It'll be fine, Freja-san!" Rin stammered out a reassurance at Freja's dramatics, torn between being panicked and amused and wondering if Freja was joking or actually panicked herself. Emi being so quick to get on top of the situation was actually a huge relief though, and it helped put Rin's mind at ease before she could get properly worked up over the blackout. "O-oh, that's really handy, Emi-san. Thanks!"

She was just as curious about the glowing, glancing briefly at Freja in a moment of gratitude - her asking meant that Rin didn't have to, and didn't have to risk causing offense or anything.

More than anything Emi was just glad she was prepared for this type of thing. Not that she didn't think Freja and Rin weren't capable they likely didn't have their parents ringing them to get them to prepare. She wondered for a moment if that was because of how her mom was or if it was the "drills" they all had to do from time to time due to her dads career. She waved a hand dismissively "no no no my dad is a Master Sergeant in the U.S Army. He wasn't super strict or anything growing up and I only worked out when I wanted to" she made a flexing gesture awkwardly laughing after the fact "He did make us run some emergency drills growing up just in case hence the uh..." she pointed to the preparedness bag she placed on the table. She did pause for a moment when asked about her glowing and fidgeted uncomfortably. What was the best way to tell her ROOMMATES that it was basically radiation? She steeled herself wanting to be earnest even if it made her alienated by the others even slightly "It's my uhm quirk. You know how stars give off a certain kind of energy?" she waved her hand through the blue aura that was leaking out of it "It's harmless but it's how I make my quirk...work? Hard to explain but just makes me stronger and my body tougher." she chose to admit the part about the massively increased weight. Another loud bout of thunder rang out which made Emi flinch just slightly, she may not have been afraid of thunder but loud noises when it was dark were extra freaky. With the place now being sufficiently lit she turned off her quirk and would move over to the window in their living room and look outside. "Wow, I don't think I've ever seen it rain this hard. I wonder when they'll get the power back?" a school like UAU likely had a backup generator and if that had failed it must have been a serious problem they needed to fix.

So an army family didn't automatically mean that they were super strict and training and survival oriented necessarily. Huh, today she learned something new. Maybe it was just watching too many dramatized American movies, but she was definitely expecting something more intense. For Emi's sake, she was glad it sounded more ordinary than she had imagined. Rin trying to reassure her that everything would be fine even when Freja was joking was oddly endearing, but she couldn't help but feel bad about how spooked she appeared. ''I'll make sure to thank him if I meet him.'' She gave a thumbs up and a smile at Emi and her preparedness bag.

''Like star power?'' She tilted her head to one side, then looked at Rin. It was star power, right? Freja would probably have known, but Elias wasn't so sure. ''Makes sense to me. It's like when that cartoon guy eats spinach and his arms grow big. Don't worry about us, I don't feel unsafe around you. It's not like my quirk is hurting you either.'' She blurted out the last part, unbeknownst to herself while fidgeting with her light. If anything, she actually felt safer with Rin and Emi around, not that she thought anything bad might happen per say, but strength in numbers and all that. Especially when two of the numbers had strong quirks.

Freja flinched at the next thunderstrike, a lot more than Emi. ''I swear if this storm doesn't calm down.'' She grumbled, angrily stomping off into her room to fetch her bat so she could point it at the ceiling. ''I'll go up there and beat Thor myself!'' With the bat now resting over her shoulder, Freja followed Emi to the window. ''Can't be that long, this is a super high tec place, right?'' She looked at the flashes in the dark sky for a moment, before an idea came to her. ''I know, let's play two truths and a lie to kill the time.'' She smiled at Rin and Emi, gauging their enthusiasm for the game.

Rin did her very best not to flinch or jump or shriek from any more sounds from the storm outside... and sort of succeeded. At the very least she didn't shriek or jump! Flinching though, she honestly couldn't help no matter how hard she tried and every time she ended up tucking in on herself and scrunching her face up as she shut her eyes in a brief moment of panick. In a weird way though, the conversation was helping. It gave her something else to focus on, listening to Emi talk about her father and how her quirk worked, and letting Freja handle the bulk of the more conversation-y things.

She gave a glance towards Freja when the taller girl shot one her way, offering a faint shrug and an awkward smile. She... had an idea of what Emi was trying to avoid saying outright, and radiation sounded a bit concerning too. She kept her mouth shut though - she didn't want to offend her or make her feel bad, and besides she wanted to trust her capable and considerate roommate about it being safe. So she nodding along with Freja and chimed in with a quick:

"Y-yeah, I'm not worried about it either."

She wished she could have sounded more reassuring there, but the brunette was distracted from those thoughts by Freja stumping off to get her bat and pointing it at the ceiling. Cracking a small smile despite the storm, Rin scooted over towards the window with her roomates. "Uhm, probably soon...ish?"

She honestly had no idea but she wanted to sound hopeful at aleast. The proposal of a game caught her by surprise though, and she blinked back at Freja before glancing out of the corner of her eye at Emi to try and get a feeling for her reaction too - but before she could really figure out how the blonde felt she hastily blurted out "Oh that sounds like fun!!!" in a maybe too enthusiastic sounding way.

This time when she flinched it wasn't because of the storm.
