As a student at UAU, gunfire wasn't the least common thing Miroru heard. More so with the attendance of one adorable little Wrenn and her propensity for firearms, and the myriad support students who developed all manner of weapons for their classmates.
However, none of that happened in the middle of the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall.
As automatic gunfire rattled the windows of the nutrition store Miroru was in, she ducked instinctively and blipped out of sight, light bent entirely around her to prevent her from being seen as she maneuvered to get a better view. There was, doubtless, going to be a number of calls to the police, but there'd be several minutes, if not longer, between now and their arrival in a force strong enough to protect the people in the mall.
Miroru needed to find the gunmen, and she needed to do it fast. She wasn't supposed to use her Quirk in public off-assignment, but at the same time... if she kept herself to stopping gunfire and staying hidden... who'd even know?

Shopping malls generally were one of the few places that skald had a habit of avoiding on patrols from time to time. But this was not one of those times. She had discussed patrol routes with other heroes and there was a distinct lack of them here. Noting that there were several overlaps with others she deigned to put herself through the Kitashi ward’s shopping mall at request with the others. Many would be crowded or would have to deal with fans but skald thankfully knew for a fact that most people would have some form of courtesy to leave her be while she was in her hero uniform.
So when the sound of automatic gunfire caught her attention skald’s face lit up; was this because they thought that heroes wouldn’t be on the scene? That there wouldn’t be someone to protect the folks around here? She’d growl softly and take off like a bullet train towards the sounds of the gunfire.
She figured that she had some time to catch these people while also getting folks out of the way. Skidding to a halt just short of where she noted the shattered glass the kitsune had to consider her approach briefly. Go in and present herself immediately and likely get lit up or stay here and try to guess where the likely robbers were.
Problems problems problems…
Regardless of that conundrum she decided to start charging up the lightning across her arms. Biting her lip a little bit as she stepped a bit closer. This was a dumb idea… She was completely unaware of Miroru due to the use of their quirk and her focus on the active threat so it’d take either them doing something or approaching her in some capacity…

Miroru paused as she felt the surge in electrical potential rising off a ways, frowning. She wasn't picking up any outgoing signals, so it didn't seem like they were communicating with the Hero Association. She couldn't see the source from just here, so she kept working her way towards the gunfire.
A half-dozen armed perpetrators were on the ground floor, opening fire into stores seemingly at random. Miroru, though, noted a pattern quickly- the stores they were aiming at had either patrons, employees, or advertisements who had visible mutations.
Gritting her teeth as she made the connection, Miroru considered her options, and hurried into a clothing store with a damaged storefront, grabbing a hanger and bending it out of place so she could jam it into a wall socket. She blocked the surge of electricity from reaching her, and moved to peer down at the criminals. She had a hail mary if she needed it, but for now, she reached down and simply halted the movement of all the infrared light in the area- including that created by combustion, killing the ability of the firing caps to ignite the propellant and stopping the gunfire dead, leaving a set of heavily -and uselessly- armed and very confused bigots on the ground floor!

Skald kept on charging up her lightning, she knew if she kept enough of it ongoing that she’d be able to deal with one perp after another. Blatant attacks like these were rare especially in areas like this and hearing more gunfire she could only guess the reasons. She noted that some stores weren’t being targeted while others had much in the way of damage. Biting the inside of her cheek… she felt her face run red hot.
Something however felt off, she couldn’t really describe it. Attacks like this didn’t just happen anymore so there had to be a reason for it. But she couldn’t find it, she knew that there would be folks that were hurt still and she knew she had to do something about those guns but-
Her ear flicked as she heard the rapid clicking of firearms trying to fire but failing. A manufacturing error? She didn’t even hesitate and shot forward again, her eyes dancing this way and that. She registered the perps in this area and with a flick of either of her hands launched a dazzling array of lightning forward.
Each perp would have a bolt of lightning with their name on it and each firearm would also have its barrel targeted, melting it to slag if it connected. Her lightning was deadly if utilized at full charge but with the amount of people she could safely split up the charge and it was more getting hit with a heavy duty taser for people. More charge was dedicated to melting the barrels of course; she didn’t want to risk killing folks or setting off any explosives that they may have had on them.
She also needed to figure out if there were more than this group of perps; how many people were hurt or worse. She didn’t want to think of that last part, she just hoped that their aim was as bad as they were stupid for doing this…

The charge of electricity kept growing and approaching, but they didn't seem to be part of the group on the ground floor. So either a hero, a vigilante, or a really unlucky trump card for these bigoted assholes. The answer came shortly enough as the figure collecting the lightning came into view- an odd, fox-like person charging into battle spewing lightning like a hydra puking out a stormcloud!
Miroru noted the lightning bolts coursing towards the perps and their guns, but knew enough about metallurgy to realize the very real danger of setting off all the rounds at once. Grimacing, she abandoned her infrared ban and grabbed the bolts aiming at the barrels and directed them herself, using them to circulate through the barrels as make-shift induction coils until the heat melted the barrels.
Half the thugs collapsed from the powerful taser blasts, dropping their slagged guns to the sides (it was entirely possible Skald would have been able to melt the barrels herself, but Miroru had judged it not worth taking the chance when she could ensure the process safely) as they dropped. The other three resisted in various ways- one by turning into solid steel, another by opening a hole in his body to dodge the bolt, and a third by puking up noxious liquid to block and dissipate the lightning, leaving the three of them against what sure seemed to be one hero!

Noting that her lightning was acting a little weird the kitsune didn’t really have time to wonder why they moved the way they did as the guns slagged. She noted that there were three individuals that didn’t drop. She could rightfully say that was better than all of them resisting or only one or two dropping. Her eyes swept across the group.
Solid steel would be the hardest to deal with, save him for last. The one that opened his body to avoid the bolt would also be difficult to deal with. The last throwing up that noxious liquid… She’d tut a little bit; she had plenty of juice left and would have to deal with each one accordingly right?
She didn’t know what kind of fighting styles they employed so sticking to the bet that they would try to close on her with some form of melee was a good one. If they could avoid or endure her bolts as they were split up. She’d crack her neck, a smile splitting on her face and a crackle of lightning went from her fingertips up over her hood and away from her body. It was just a harmless dissipation of extra energy but…
”Would have been easier to just let the bolts hit you.”
Skald’s energy build up was immense before, but now as she was staring down three ‘villains’ it’d hike up several notches. She had quite an arsenal to work with; from her quirk itself to that of her take downs. She didn’t hesitate, launching a much weaker blast of lightning at the two she wasn’t planning on concentrating on. While the third blast of lightning was supercharged in comparison aimed at the fella that dissipated it with his noxious liquid.
If they desired to get close to her, they’d have to get through a array of lightning bolts before she’d throw them around. The fact that there were three of them didn’t even put any kind of thoughtful pause on this. Just that there were three folks that didn’t go down in her first attack.

It seemed like the hero was going to take on all three of the targets at once, which was brave, but- Miroru wasn't sure what else she might have up her sleeve to deal with the other two. The one seemed able to mold his body around incoming attacks, and the other was just grounded by virtue of being solid metal. Miroru hoped the hero might have an answer for that one, but the splitform fellow... she felt like she needed to help if she could.
And she knew she was able.
The redhead leaped onto the railing of the second story walkway as the splitter and the metal perp rushed in towards Skald as she hurled slender coils of lightning at them- and a huge blast towards the puker, whose defenses literally evaporated, taking a big chunk of her attack with it before getting smashed by the rest and howling as he was hurled off his feet! "GYAGH! FUCKING... WASTE THIS BEAST BITCH!"
As the other pair tried to, after shrugging off or dodging the weak attacks aimed their way, the splitting perp abruptly slammed face down onto the ground as if smashed down by a hammer- or an invisible fox-girl plunging onto his back from the second floor! Screeching, he yowled, "WHO THE FUCK JUST HIT ME?! I'M GONNA CHOKE YOU WITH YOUR OWN INTESTIGYAAAAGH!"
He shrieked again as a foot slammed into his jaw as he tried to stand, launching him in a 180 flip onto his back as he spat blood! "Th'ffack... thum kinna ghoft! THOW YOTHELF!"
Meanwhile, the steelworker rushed Skald from behind and aimed a haymaker at the back of her head!
