To the outside world, this makes him look like a very humble man who lives in the now and doesn't let anything get to him where, in reality it's all bottled inside, either releasing these emotions in his vigilante work, it showing in the amount of force or violence he uses, talks to Blaze, or during the day when he can't get away from home or the feelings can't wait, he plays the piano, usually playing certain songs when he's feeling certain ways. David usually picks up on the emotions with the music, but Rayder doesn't always open up with him, always telling his husband he was fine.

He still cares for the lives of innocent people, but criminals, specifically criminals who commit crimes that can seriously harm those innocent lives, Rayder doesn't feel remorse harming then in return and leaving them marked with their crimes. The time any grief for what he does is shown is if the criminals loses their life, making sure he is professional. He will get easily angered during these situations, taking this rage out on the criminals.

Rayder was born in the US, where he was given up right at birth, being born mute. He was tossed around the foster care system through his childhood, though making a friend who was named Andrew, but wanted to always be called Blaze by everyone except Rayder. He was also in the system due to him being dubbed a pyromaniac from a young age and commonly causing damage to the foster family’s properties (the reason he wanted to be called Blaze). Rayder’s quirk gave him the ability to walk up walls and blaze was able to put his consciousness into other’s minds, leaving his own body. He did this frequently with Rayder, and it was the only way Rayder could truly communicate with words to him.
Rayder tried anything to find a place in the world, trying many different activities to gain a talent and become desirable by a foster family at last, Blaze helping him through it. Finally, he found his talent for playing the piano. He became a prodigy at a young age. It did help him get taken in, but it always ended the same way with being brought back. Even still, he loved playing the piano, even if it was just for himself and Blaze.
Rayder was constantly bullied, and when he was twelve, he was chased into the street by kids throwing rocks at him, him getting hit by a truck, nearly killing him but causing him to lose a leg, essentially losing his quirk since it only worked on his feet. He became severely depressed and was given up by his current foster home. However, the family that was housing Blaze decided to take him in, mostly due to Blaze insisting. Being close to his dear friend was one of the major things that helped with Rayder's healing and gave him the strength to live without his leg or his quirk. Once they were able to spend as much time as they could together, Rayder and Blaze began to fall in love. Even if they were young, it was a strong love between them. However, when he was fifteen and blaze sixteen, they were caught by their foster parents and were both severely punished. The other foster children in the house shared it with their own friends and the news traveled fast through the school and other families in the community, the two being disgraced and becoming more of outcasts than they already were. The foster family even scheduled Rayder to be returned due to this, blaming him for “corrupting” their family.
Rayder and Blaze tried to keep their connection strong, even with the world tearing them apart. The moment that changed everything was when Rayder went to the top of the school where he and Blaze always hung out, but there were a group of bullies up there. They beat him, tied his wrists against a pole and ripped his shirt off before they carved derogatory terms into his chest, Rayder in agony but unable to scream as they carved those words into his chest. it was then when Blaze came up, getting into a massive fight with the others but being beaten down. They gagged him and they were tying him down when he began struggling to breathe, Blaze having asthma. The bullies freaked out and ran off. Blaze used the last of his strength to touch Rayder’s arm before dying next to him, Rayder losing the only person who ever truly loved him.
After Blaze’s funeral, where he was cremated, Rayder decided to run away. He took Blaze’s ashes, and he ran away to the city. he lived on the streets when blaze finally came out to Rayder, him realizing when he died, his consciousness was bound to Rayder for the rest of his life, bringing him happiness once again. while he lived on the streets, a woman named Octavia found him. She was a victim of torture when she was younger where she was tortured and forced to watch them murder her mother, so she understood his pain. She decided to take him home and welcome him as her son. Her husband was an engineer turned college professor, and her father was a mercenary, and they both trained him, his new father making him a teched up prosthetic leg and multiple devices. His new grandfather understood his anger and trained him to become a vigilante, to release the anger on those who deserved it.
When he became old enough, he moved out and adopted a Dalmatian named Trevor, planning to go to college for culinary, but also to use what he had learned from his family. He, however, met a man named David Lierderson, an artist whose quirk let him be able to change the colour of anything he touched. He began to spend time with him and began to fall in love with David. David also had an infant daughter (he was experimenting with his sexuality and got someone pregnant, who abandoned her with him) who was completely deaf, so he felt a bond. The four became a whole family, him adopting the girl as his own daughter and marrying David, Blaze approving of the whole thing and even calling their daughter his own. He got his degree, became a head chef, moved to Japan, and became a loved part of their community.
However, Blaze began to talk to him about bringing justice, like his family told him about. Rayder knew he had to help others, and his father and grandfather sent him everything needed, including a costume and tech that would assist him. However, the most important piece of equipment he received was an upgraded prosthetic leg which could be used to walk on walls, essentially giving him use of his quirk once more.With all this, he hit the streets to do what he knew he had to. But during his first "hit", he took down the person, knocking them down after they beat up a woman and robbed her. Just staring at the unconscious man and with the influence of Blaze, he knew this man couldn’t just be left with no warning. Then he thought of his scars. He got scars of horrible things while he was innocent of any crime. So, in his mind, he decided to mark the guilty with their crimes. He carved the man’s crime deeply into his chest to brand him a criminal. It became his mark on the world of crime, leaving these criminals having to face their crimes every time they looked in the mirror and saw those marks.
