The giant’s goal was met when Yaguro fell to the ground below him. Still, he needed to keep his confidence low; the man was down, but not out. This became clear when he took aim for Rayder’s real leg, kicking it. His prosthetic slightly buckled, which gave time for the other man to get up. He got balance back quickly and went on the defense.
As his fists began to fly towards him, Rayder bent his back to pull himself back just enough. However, he took the chance and grabbed hold of the smaller man’s fist, going behind him and pinning him down, pushing his arm painfully against his back before using his other hand and grabbing the back of his head. Turning Yaguro’s head towards him, he gave him a look that asked “Say mercy”, smirking with slight pride.
“C’mon! Punch him in the damn face! Really take him down!”
“Andrew, I might be an ass but I’m not you’re kind of ass. I’ll be slightly cocky, but I’m not going to do what I didn’t want him to do to me.” His glance went between Yaguro and Blaze, who was standing over them. It would be easily seen that something besides the smaller man being restrained was holding his attention.

If there was something to be said about the man in front of Rayder, it could be said he had some sort of stones to fight the man. All he would do at first was pace around him. It was clear he was looking for a counter against any sort of attack. It would take
“... you knoooow, Stringbean! He didn’t say anything about using rubble, did he?” Blaze stood near broken stones and metal. “A bit of payback for the cheap hit in your face he gave you. I mean, we both know he needs worse than a couple damn rocks, but it’s not up to me.” The metal would clearly be pushing it too far for a simple spar… but a couple thrown stones. Rayder continued circling like an animal around its prey until he was near the rubble. Then, in the blink of an eye, he grabbed multiple stones in his large hands, chucking them in all directions at the smaller man before his charge. It seemed head on, but at the last moment, he skidded and snatched the man’s leg and tugged hard. A quick jump up, followed by a higher jump into the air, courtesy of the prosthetic, and he aimed just behind the man’s position. His movements were intricate, precise, calculated. It would be even clearer in the giant’s opponent’s brain that Rayder was trained by someone with intense skill, passing onto the man.

“It can do alot with it that others can’t do. It’s one of a kind tech. The closest thing that exists to it is an arm of similar tech, minus the quirk ability since that user’s quirk wasn’t affected by the loss.” It was strange to talk of his adopted father in this third person like that, but the less information given was better. How he kept speaking about going for the kill, it still made a part of Rayder’s soul twinge. As he messaged, his words would’ve showed a hint of worry if he had a voice.
“... Then how many have you killed in these ideals? Because trust me, I’ve seen it with my own eyes… depending on the person, even one kill can begin the transformation from a man into a monster… And the more lives you take in the pursuit of a cause, the harder it is to remain a human.”
So the man wanted to truly fight each other, huh? It seemed like a pretty stupid decision for someone for the smaller man.
“Oh ho HOOOO! He has a fucking death wish, does he?!” Blaze had a mischievous smile on his face. “Don’t go too easy on him, Stringbean. Kick his ass goooood!” With a smirk, Rayder stood over the much shorter man, smirking. How did he intend to beat him, even without knowing the training that he had done? Grabbing his phone, he only glanced at it between staring down Yaguro.
“What you’re suggesting might end quite badly for you. With the experience I’ve seen you’ve had, you’ll wind up at work with some unexplainable injuries. If this is what you’d want, I’d kindly request you stay away from the face, this time. I don’t want a fucking pity party from everyone, especially my husband if I have any visible marks. Remember, the rest of this world thinks of me as a crippled sad sap whose only gift to society is to be a damn good cook.”

This man clearly was a risk taker, and not in a good way. He would end up hurt with this attitude. Still, Rayder didn't have the energy at the moment to fight the kid anymore. He kept rubbing the stump, taking deep breaths as the spasms and burning slowed down. One thing that made him pause his efforts, however, was calling the carvings "odd". If he knew... If only he knew why... Rayder contemplated for a moment as one shaky hand began to go to the bottom of his shirt.
"... Stringbean, don't you fucking dare it. I know what's in your head, and I'm not goddamn letting you show it." Blaze stood in front of the man, a serious look across his face that seemed to ooze malice at the audacity and disrespect Rayder was displaying towards those fucking marks. A few seconds of his hand trembling at the bottom of his shirt and the giant released it. No… not now, not soon.
Rayder turned his attention back to easing the last of his pain. It was too much being this vulnerable. But this man… this naive man… once again made him freeze when he was mentioning his leg, calling it a “superpowered” leg. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and grabbed his phone, messaging with one hand while rubbing his stump of a leg with the other.
“... A specially made prosthetic. It gives me my quirk back, as well as gives me additional strength and abilities. It may be an impressive piece of technology… but I’d prefer my real leg over it any day. It wasn’t my choice to lose my leg. Not to mention I’ve only had this tech for a few years. Before that, it was a more typical prosthetic for years, and before that… a crutch or a wheelchair. Life was hell then... it was hell for a long time.” Each word pissed the man off even more, the look of anger sprawled across the giant’s face. With the spasms eased up, the man grabbed his leg sleeve and prosthetic and stared at them. What looked like amazing tech that people would fight over was another reminder of his anger… the war he had to fight in silence every single day since birth. Putting it on, Rayder stood, taking a deep breath as he adjusted it and got his balance before walking over to the weapons pile once again.
As he tried deciding what he would test out next, he listened to Yaguro, specifically the hypothetical of a different society where quirks were used for free reign. It would be a society of constant danger and not all the heroes and vigilantes would be able to maintain it. Everything he did would be worthless as every step his family would take could lead them into danger and death. The thought almost made the man shutter. Grabbing a pistol. Rayder quickly turned, shooting a perfect circle around the other man’s thrown blade before pulling his phone out. “We are far from that world. We still live in a cesspool of a world; one filled with hypocrisy and a clear hierarchy. We can’t be hypocrites, as well. We may push the limits heroes won’t, but killing is something that should be avoided.” He stuffed one hand into his pocket as he kept typing away. “What else you have planned here? We played your games, shot some shit. We need some action.”

“Yes, but playing dirty with your teammates will only end with you being abandoned at the least. If you want a team that will last, then stop treating the members as low as the villains we’re culling from the streets, otherwise when there is a chance to escape at the cost of your life, your teammate will willingly take it.” He wasn’t holding back, letting him know the extent of what could happen with his attitude. The giant saw straight through the other man; he was someone willing to twist his personality to make people his tool, and it pissed the vigilante off. Still, he knew pride and stubbornness filled Yaguro’s head, and that his words might just be ignored.
Watching the other man grab the gun, he saw the excitement grow in the smaller man’s eyes as he used the high caliber weapon. The man acted like a kid on christmas morning testing out his new toys. A smirk spread across the giant’s face as he inhaled the smoke from the barrel before taking it back, dusting it off and grabbing his phone to message.
“Another weapon meant for the last resort. I believe in aiming for pure incapacitation instead of fatality. It's for many reasons. In our heads, it keeps us from falling as far as they do. Give into the urges to end someone, and we slowly evolve into monsters ourselves. However, in their eyes, it leaves more of a lasting memory in their heads. In the underworld, if one falls, then others will gather to replace them and treat them like some sort of martyr. However, leaving them with lasting marks… marks that will never go away, it is a haunting image to all; abandon your life of crime, or be reminded of the pain inflicted on them due to their ways. It also helps draw out more of the scum. Picture draining an infected wound; make that first cut, all the disgusting contents come out. Only here, I make more cuts until it's completely drained, as if it's the antibiotic.” Rayder pulled out the pocket knife, the one that inflicted so many scars and labeled the true evil of the world with their crimes. “A strong weapon like that may be fun, but something as simple as this holds more blood than any bullet I’ve shot in my life. I can’t count how many people’s blood still stains it, and how many more people will be scarred by it.” He stared at it, in his head remembering all the screams he caused with this blade… then remembering the silence that was released with the first scars in this terrible path were made… his own… “... You may think I have fun marking these creatures of the underworld, but I don’t. I don’t feel happy that these people fell so far… Yet they deserve it, for they knowingly have committed these crimes, true crimes that harm others. I do this to make people who actually committed crimes have to look in the mirror, and maybe they’ll look and will be haunted by it, and deter them from continuing. Parents will tell their children to not become like these villains, lest they will be labelled with their crimes forever.” He turned the hilt and looked at Blaze’s name, and just stared for a minute. Rayder was innocent… Blaze was innocent… And yet they were scarred… now only one of them lived, and the other was bound to him forever without his own freedom or future.
“... Stringbean… Rayder… I’m here.” Blaze stood, wrapping his hand around Rayder’s. It felt like a faint grasp, as always, but urged him to close the blade and put it away before walking to the rocket launcher.
“Sorry, Andrew… You know how it still hurts so much…”
Rayder decided to have some fun, clear the pity bullshit from his brain. He hit a button on his prosthetic before he grabbed the rocket launcher and ran to one of the trees. He began to run vertically up the trunk a good bit until the bond began to fail and quickly jumping to a thicker branch. He aimed the large weapon towards the bullet ridden machine below before shooting it and a large explosion occurring. It was a glorious site to him. Once the inferno started settling, Rayder simply jumped from the high branch, prosthetic first and landing hard on it, a crater forming under the leg before he walked to the smouldering shell of the washing machine, once again aiming to show off by kicking it at least 20 feet away, the frame caving into the intense impact from the leg. Sprinting after, he showed the speed he was given with this attachment as he beat the metal and stomped it once more. What remained was a crumpled ball of smoking metal at the man's feet. He twisted his neck with a loud crack before turning back to the other man, phone in hand.
“I told you I’d show off this thing. That’s only a small taste of what I can do with it.” Though, a slowly forming pain reminded him of the goddamn limitations he still had. For now, he just took a deep breath, hoping to try and let the phantom pain just go away fast as he began pacing and trying to stop it. This was a naive hope though, he knew as he went to a close by fallen tree and sat for a moment, taking a deep breath. “Both blessings and curses with it, though. Break time. Didn’t plan for the outing so I’m unprepared for this. If you want to keep playing, keep going. I need a minute.” He messaged as he hit another button on it before pulling it off and rubbing the end of his stump for a moment and taking a deep breath, pulling the shortening cigarette from his mouth and breathing a shaky breath.
“Really, dude? Of all times to take the fucking leg off?” Blaze crossed his arms before sitting next to him.
“Andrew, shut up. It goddamn REALLY hurts!” He said, his remaining part of his leg shaking as he breathed, bending his knee and rubbing it, praying for this to go the hell away. As strong and skilled as he was, he was still a human, to his own dismay, and had these weaknesses. It would look strange to Yaguro, especially seeing his remaining limb exposed when he desperately pulled the sleeve off and kept rubbing it. Usually Rayder would take necessary precautions to stop this pain before anything, never wanting to suffer this pain while patrolling, but unplanned trips have risks, and the risk became reality.

The confidence that this little man was giving Rayde was immense. From his skill to his arsenal, it put an actual genuine smile on his face, easing the tension between the two. He grabbed his phone, messaging.
“I’ll put it on the schedule. But remember, this thing is a last resort. I don’t want there to be news reports of petty criminals found dead with their heads or any parts of their bodies burst open.” Even after the little stunt that Yaguro pulled, however, he wanted to make this all a game. He clearly played dirty no matter the circumstance, and this rubbed the giant the wrong way. “Playing dirty while in our line is a dangerous thing. Pull that shit with the wrong person, your final resting place might become an alley from someone less level headed than me, and that’s saying something.” He watched the other vigilante go and move some shrubs away, revealing a few old dryers. Blaze’s excitement grew even more.
“FINALLY! FREE FOR ALL!” He was ready to watch things blow up in a frenzy of scattering shrapnel. One grenade was tossed into the dryer, getting it in before it exploded in all its glory, it smoking. “HELL YEAH! DO IT,S STRINGBEAN!” The other man yelled towards him. Rayder grabbed two of the pipe bombs, looking at them. This silly game would probably end the same as the others. Rayder smirked though, ready to give into Blaze’s eagerness. It was filling his head, at this point. Rayder pulled out his phone, messaging.
“Why should we just do games? Why don’t we just do what you really got me out here to do; blow shit up. I’m ready for a free for all.” Rayder reached into his own bag, pulling out a FAMAS F1, seeming like an older version, yet in immaculate condition. An heirloom from his grandfather. “Didn’t know what crap I was in for today, so I brought some fire power." A mischievous smile was spread across the giant’s face as he lit the pipebomb, lit a cigarette, and quickly and seamlessly loaded his weapon, bomb still in hand. The fuse was burning as Rayder waited for the perfect second.
“... OK, idiot, throw the fucking bombs!”
“One more second…” Rayder threw both bombs towards two of the dryers, them flying directly into the holes and immediately exploding before the man got into position, shooting the everliving hell out of the smoking remnants over and over again until it was riddled with bullet holes. Both dryers looked like they went through an absolute warzone when the large man was done.
“THIS IS WHAT I WANTED! FUCK YEAH!!! MORE!!!” Blaze was giddy with excitement and adrenaline. All of this was done before the cigarette ash even fell, the man standing and tapping it before quickly reloading, staring at it for a second before tossing it over to the other man before pulling out his phone.
“Weapon of the French military, I worked on it alot and made it more efficient and powerful. Still have some tinkering to do since I’m aiming to lessen the sound. Try it. Though, if you want this little 'game' to continue, I guess I covered two turns. I'd rather keep destroying all this crap.” He stepped back, arms crossed and smirking a large smirk. He hated to admit it, but this was fucking exciting! He got to be an absolute show off for once.

The giant man couldn’t help but smirk at Yaguro’s reaction to his accuracy. It gave him confidence that the time he spent training was worth it, going from school straight to training everyday for years. He listened to all the answers he gave, nodding as he let the man explain before responding. Blaze, on the other hand, looked like he was in agony from boredom, having to sit and listen to the technical part of this instead of getting to the actual fun. Rayder just ignored it, finally pulling out his phone to reply.
“The variation of modifications expands past a sawed off shotgun. Some of it does take a knowledge of engineering or someone with that knowledge to assist. For example, this knife.” Rayder reached into his bag, throwing a knife into the air and catching it before continuing his messages. “This is a regular blade that I modified into a wasp injector knife. Originally used for scuba divers in case of shark attacks, it works well against an overconfident assailant, as well. It’s meant for a last resort, since the damage from it is catastrophic.” Walking over to one of the watermelons that Yaguro had there, Rayder quickly stabbed into it, hitting a button in the blade’s hilt and shooting air into the fruit, causing it to explode. He then quickly and intricately sheathed the blade again, turning to the fellow vigilante and beginning to message again. “Even parts of us can be modified. Hell, I’m able to do everything I do because of modifications.” He tapped on his prosthetic. “The technology located in it is not seen even on the black market. One of a kind. After a bit, I’ll show some of it off.” His confident smirk was clear across his face as he stepped back, seeing the bow kicked over to him.
“Oh, hell yeah! Back to weapons, Stringbean!” Blaze stood next to his companion as he picked up the bow. Archery was one of the rare skills his mother taught him. All the same, he made sure to master it like any other skill. The man quickly and swiftly drew the bow, shooting the arrow and getting a perfect bullseye. Rayder walked to the next one, getting another perfect shot. This repeated a couple more times until he made it to the final target, his back completely turned to the other vigilante. Blaze was watching intently, but then saw something concerning… Yaguro raising the gun and preparing to aim again.
“RAYDER! HE’S GOT THE GUN AGAIN!” The redhead screamed, Rayder not wasting a moment, turning his heel and twisting his body 180 degrees, his drawn bow now aimed straight for the other man and an intense and angered stare aimed right for him. What the hell was this man trying to pull? He slowly stalked toward him, arrow still at the ready in case the smaller man tried anything. Finally, when he was close, Rayder quickly relaxed the bow and snatched the pistol, tossing it. He kept his eye on him for another second before quickly twisting, shooting the last arrow dead in the middle and chucking the bow at Yaguro.
“... Goddamn, that was hot, Stringbean.” Rayder threw a glance towards Blaze. “Hey, like it or now, and I KNOW you liked it, we were together.” Shaking his head, Rayder pulled out the phone.
“I don’t know what in your head thought it was a good idea to pull a pistol on me, but you better get some fucking brains before they end up splattered. Joke or not, it’s a goddamn stupid move.” It was clear it was some sort of dumb prank, but it was a stupid one when someone’s trained to be ready at a second's notice to stop any danger.

The anger inside Rayder was intense, him being dragged out to the middle of nowhere to play with some damn weapons on his day off. However… it didn’t project on his face much, mainly due to the fact that his eternal companion looked like a damn kid in a candy store.
“... Rayder, if you leave without blowing something up, or at the VERY least lighting something on fire, I won’t let you sleep for days.”
“Blaze, you can’t be serious! This is COMPLETELY ridiculous! Besides, you HATE the dick already! I know you’re a fucking psycho, you vandal, but look who we’re with!”
“But we haven’t messed around with any sort of weapon without boundaries or rules since before I died, and that was only with my knife and lighter on the school dumpster! Your granddad didn’t even let us just screw around! It was full training! I want to light some stuff up!!!” The excitement Blaze was showing caused Rayder to pinch his brow. It would look like the giant man was concentrating on something or showing more annoyance towards Yaguro.
“... It’s no wonder your pyromaniac ass went to juvie, Andrew, and a bigger wonder how I was able to avoid it being around you… FINE! I’ll do this to entertain you! But you better not say I don’t do things for you.” The redheaded man was giddy, causing Rayder to roll his eyes as he went to the axe. Simple target practice. Something Rayder could do with his eyes closed, and had to do many times. He backed up, a bit further than his fellow vigilante was and lazily threw the first axe, hitting it straight on the bullseye his first try. Walking back to the tree, he pulled the axe, walking further than the first throw, this time and with another one handed throw, hit it in almost the exact same place. Another bullseye. Before walking over, Rayder decided to put a smirk on. He walked further back, now holding the axe sideways before using alot more strength, throwing the axe. It wasn't aimed for the target, rather it flying forward at a sideways angle and severing the hilt of the axe just below the blade, the handle falling to the ground and the blade remaining in the wood above the thrown axe.
“That’s the cocky bastard I know!” Blaze said, already looking like he was having a blast. He looked with a confident look towards the smaller man, about to sign with confidence before remember Yaguro wouldn’t understand and pulling out his phone to message him.
“Can’t tell you how many months non-stop, morning to night I’ve spent on target practice. Probably one of my earliest training before I was allowed to proceed with more complicated tasks. It’s ingrained in my soul by now. Still, I’ve had to hide my skill alot, unless I’d gain some suspicion.” He wouldn’t admit it… but it felt good to do this kind of stuff again without any restrictions. Taking a puff of his cigarette, Rayde cracked his neck before going to the thrown axe, pulling the blades from the tree, dropping them, and grabbing the severed handle. He tossed it into the air, catching it and holding his phone in the other hand. “I’ll replace this.” He said before tossing it near Yaguro’s feet before observing the tarp, looking for a short while and picking up a few of the weapons before sending a message again.
“Hmm, homemade explosives, two binary cam compound bows, two H&K SFP9-M semi-automatic pistols, a Sig Sauer P320 9mm, two Beretta M9s, a Zastava CZ99 semi-automatic pistol, one stainless steel katana and one carbon steel katana,” He bent down lifting up the missile launcher and looking it over before finishing his message. “And one B-300 reusable anti-tank rocket launcher. A good collection of weaponry from a large number of countries. Though, with the brass knuckles, you might want to invest in a good pair of sap gloves. It’s what’s a part of my costume. Easier Much more accessible and easily concealed. Also, are your explosives using true C4, poor man’s c4, flash powders, Armstrong’s mix, or another explosive?”
“... Rayder, shut your nerd ass up and let’s get to DESTRUCTION!” Blaze stood over the missile launcher, nearly reaching for it himself out of urge, even if it wouldn’t do anything.
“Either way, a good set up. Must’ve hollowed out most of your floorboards to fit this collection. Ever curious about possibly modifying any of them? I’ll let you know it’s damn worth it..” He turned to Yaguro, putting his phone back in his pocket and cracking his back.

A day to himself, at last. Rayder had been on the schedule constantly, it seemed. Day after day in the kitchen, followed at least weekly with his all nighters on the streets. It was draining the giant man, at this point. Not to mention the additional vigilante thorn in his side that he was trapped with taking much of his mind and worry. Still, today, it was time to forget about it all. The only people around him were the ones he loved the most; his family.
The Silent Cartographer was in his own home, relaxed enough to even have his prosthetic removed, deciding to have a moment to close his eyes, a book covering them. It was peaceful, quiet, and calming for a bit. Trevor, their large dalmatian laid on the carpet, seeming like a guard dog for his sleeping master. Even with his leg hanging over the edge of the couch, he felt himself being able to drift off. Yet, it seemed a tiny person didn’t understand the meaning of “peace” for too long as the book was pulled from his eyes, and a freckled face stared down at the tall man before the girl began signing to him.
“{Papa, it’s not time to sleep! You tell me when the sun is up, we are up! Please put your leg on! I want to go outside to play with you!}” Dory Ruth ran over to her father’s leg, attempting to pick up the heavy device, only able to knock it over and stared at Rayder with a slight look of guilt and eagerness in her cocoa brown eyes. He sat up a bit, adjusting himself with his eyebrows raised and trying to hold his laughter as the spotted dog got up, sniffing around and licking the little girl before going to Rayder.
“{Dory Ruth, love, papa has worked alot this week and is very tired. He has done alot of work recently to keep a beautiful smile on your and daddy’s faces. Remember how I promised this weekend I’d take the morning off for us to spend together?}” A slightly sad nod was returned to him. “{Well, papa needs to have all the rest he can to give you the best day we can then. But always know, papa loves his little lady, ok?}” All he got was a pouting nod before she came to him, hugging him. This sweet girl… the reason for everything he did… the reason to keep this world safe and teach the monsters festering in it a lesson… all for his two loves… He would never let anything ever happen to them, even if it cost him his own life… Rayder kissed her head, holding her tight as another set of footprints came into the small living room.
“What are you two doing in here? I know the sound of that damn heavy leg hitting the floor too well.” David’s hand touched Rayder’s shoulder before signing to his daughter. “{What’s my little gem doing to her papa?}” The little girl ran to him, wrapping herself around his legs as he laughed, followed by the big dog sitting near him and waiting for his attention. “I guess there’s no rest in here today for you, Ray?”
“{Never expect to with this little tornado running and our spotted trail about, but I don’t mind our girl.}” Rayder silently chuckled, trying to sneak his signs to his husband without Dory Ruth seeing. This made David laugh more, picking up the curly haired girl and holding her close.
“I’m going to make some lunch, and I’ll take this one with me. Why don’t you go into the bedroom and rest. Want the crutch like the doctor said or are you going to hop like a damn pogo stick as always?” A humorous scowl spread on Rayder’s face as he gestured to Dory Ruth to cover her eyes, the little girl obliging before the giant flipped his husband off, David walking away laughing and Rayder staring after them with a bright smile across his face.
“God, you’ve ALWAYS been sickeningly sweet with your love, Stringbean! Even with me, you were like that!” Blaze had been sitting on the loveseat near Rayder the whole time, a smirk on his face. Rayder smirked back, flipping him off, as well. “Awwww, I get the finger, too? You do love me!” The two laughed, Rayder hearing his own voice with Blaze’s before he got up on his one leg, grabbing his phone. His smile and joy slowly faded away as an unknown number messaged him. Opening it up, the Cartographer nearly threw his phone across the room when he saw the message.
“What? Let me see.” Blaze ran and peaked at the message. “... that FUCKING DICK! You already know who this is, don’t you?!”
“Oh, gee, I WONDER! I can’t BELIEVE he picked today to do whatever the hell he is doing!” There was no time to waste, at this point. He quickly messages back to Yaguro.
“If you even DARE message something like that again, you know I won’t hold back on beating your ass. You’re making it sound like something COMPLETELY different. Don’t ever DARE try to say something like that to jeopardise my relationship! I gave you instructions before how to message me. I will delete this message chain again because of this. I will head there, but this better be important.” Sending the message before deleting the whole thread, Rayder grabbed his leg, attaching it before walking into his bedroom, quietly lifting the floorboards under the dog's bed, grabbing a couple weapons from it and putting them into his regular bag he always took with him before hiding the safe again. Then he quickly went into the kitchen and nodded to his husband as he grabbed his car keys.
“... Ray, what’s wrong? Where are you going? I thought you were going to rest.”
“{David, I’m so sorry… remember that guy that asked me for sign language lessons?}”
“Yeah, the one who you said is kinda… well, not all there and a bit slow?”
“{He has free time, and he said that he won’t be off of his job for a bit, so… I promised I would help him… I’m so sorry, David… I PROMISE I won’t be back too late, and I’ll make sure we have a good night together. Ok}?” Kissing his head, David nodded to him as Rayder kissed Dory Ruth’s head before running out. Once again… out the door… David straightened his face for his daughter, who had an equally saddened look as Rayder was gone once again…
The drive was quite long, leading Rayder to a large area of forest. He had stopped before to put his suit on underneath his clothes in case this was an actual emergency instead of Yaguro just dicking around. However, whatever that bastard was planning, it was meant to be out of reach of anyone. Kind of reminded the giant man of his time training with his father and grandfather, only instead of being with trained mercenaries, he would be accompanied by an idiot ex-con. Either way, it had some nostalgia out here. Rayder went to the trunk of his car, grabbing his bag and pulling out a pistol, blade, and a cigarette, lighting it and heading further to the coordinates, a trail of smoke following the giant from the . What he came upon could only be described as a poorly made artillery range, and the other vigilante looking nothing but proud at his creation. The cigarette nearly dropped from his mouth in confusion and anger. He turned to the other man, the confusion clear on his face as he just shrugged his hands, his whole body speaking louder than words and asking “What the fuck is this?!” Meanwhile, Blaze’s face had a hint of eagerness on it as they were surrounded by these weapons.

The air around them seemed to ease up after Yaguro took the cigarette and lit it, a slight peace offering to relieve the massive tension the giant still felt. When Yaguro began to show pride of their quirkless combat, Rayder truly couldn’t fully believe it. For him, he lost both a body part and quirk in the same day, all because he was already inferior and he tried to run from the torture he suffered everyday growing up, and all he could think about was how much more unlovable it made him. It was rare for anyone wanting to raise a mute foster child already, but the day he lost his leg, he became completely unwanted in the foster care system. He was even more broken and defective than he already was. Everyday the other children and sometimes teachers would tell that to him, tell a goddamn child, that he would never find a home and he would have to just wait to age out and be sent to the streets. All he had was Blaze, his only friend and first love… and even he was ripped away from him by force as the monsters that were his peers tied them down and marked them both, smashed his dearest friend's inhaler and left him to choke to death... Even though he finally was adopted, it happened after he lost too much and the damage was done in his mind… being quirkless and crippled is a curse, and he would rather take his own life than be like that again. If he had this prosthetic taken away, he'd make sure he'd die before he would have to be trapped in a wheelchair again. Rayder took out his phone, a somber look on his face remaining from the memories and reminders he knew were literally carved into his body. “It’s good you feel that. I just don’t want to go back to it, myself. I can’t become like that again. Never. I'm not someone who can go through it again.” He said, taking another puff to relieve the tense feeling in his chest. A feeling of annoyance was added to that feeling when Yaguro said he didn’t need to share anything… so he literally went into his job and caused chaos without wanting to share any information?! He tightened his fist and took a deep breath, fighting the urge to plant his fist in the little man’s face once more. “C’mon, Stringbean, do it! Smash his face in!” Blaze egged him on, waiting for the enjoyment of the prick being sent to the ground once again, but Rayder ignored him and just took his phone out again. “I have trained my body and mind in many different ways to get where I am. Years of my life have been used to become a formidable opponent to the evil of this world, all while projecting a good image to the rest of the world. Never let that part of your life carry over to the day, or the consequences can be great.” Cracking his neck before extinguishing his cigarette on the bottom of his shoe, Rayder knew he had to return to work. “Don’t just use the story as a false cover. ACTUALLY learn it. I can see it is too dangerous to communicate like this for much longer. Teach yourself. Hell, I might be forced to actually teach you. Get it done. Until then.” WIth that he watched the little man leave, Rayder standing in the alley for a moment. These feelings… all bottled up… They can never come out truly... circling in his head until he snapped... He raised his fist and swung it angrily to the brick wall, only stopping an inch away. He can’t do that… can’t have these marks. Had to keep it a secret… everything had to be kept a secret… hidden away forever... “Uh… you ok, Stringbean? U know you're not because... well, you know, stuck on your head, but-” Blaze started to asked. “What… do you goddamn think at this point? I've been through enough today, Andrew!” He stared angrily at his eternal companion, who just raised his hands in a defensive way, stepping back. Rayder straightened up and pulled out his phone once more. However, instead of messaging Yaguro, Rayder went to a text chat with 3 people, named simply G.J., F.D., and M.O.. Rayder typed a message fast before walking back to his job. “Emergency meeting needed ASAP. Shamasu has infiltrated my job and knows who I am. It's not long until he finds out my life. I fucked up… I need to investigate more. We need more information. Find out anyone near him to communicate with and get any more info when you can, please. Contact me soon.”

Rayder partially listened to the smaller man as he searched through the files on this man’s phone for any signs of the messages or anything else. Their message folder was empty, recycling emptied, nothing downloaded about it. It seemed clean… too clean, in the giant’s paranoid opinion. Glaring at the man, he handed him back the device. He wouldn’t just destroy his possessions like that. He took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose to calm his nerves before pulling his own phone out to message Yaguro again. “What you did compromised potential plans that could’ve been carried through to make this ‘team’ a well oiled machine. It will be much more dangerous if we are seen anywhere together now. My work life does stay away from my home life, so I can still pull off a cover story with my husband.” He didn’t give a damn as he pulled out a cigarette, lighting it and taking a deep breath. He let himself relax for a moment before going back to the device. “I do apologize for my reaction earlier.” “DON’T APOLOGIZE! His ass deserved a beating!” Blaze scolded the large man, glaring at Yaguro before Rayder continued. “One thing you have to understand is I have to protect my life. I can’t lose this. My life was a living hell since my first breath. I have fought so hard to get where I am. I have lost so much. I’m haunted everyday by my past. Seeing you there, a connection to activities I do that are believed to be criminal and unforgivable, made me imagine everything crashing down if those activities were discovered. Losing my dream, being arrested, my love and child leaving me. I’ve lost enough in my life that losing anything else would be my end. It may be too much I’m sharing, but I need you to understand why I was so upset, and what my limits are.” Rubbing his face, he took out the box of cigarettes again, this time holding it out to the other man. A reluctant peace offering before he continued his messages. “It will take a bit to trust you, especially after you destroyed the sanctity of one of my safe havens so recklessly, which I have had only a few ever, the ability to trust has been diminished further. I hide things for a reason, such as… this burden.” He tapped on his prosthetic, almost staring at the missing limb angrily and with embarrassment in his eyes. “I have weaknesses that are hidden for a reason, as do you. As my boss so eloquently put it, I am essentially quirkless, and it’s only with this that I can use the rest of my quirk. That is something I didn’t want you to know. It can cause many problems if we are discovered. They can take it away, leave me not only crippled, but quirkless as I am put on trial. I’d be trapped in a fucking chair again with no one and nothing but shame.” “Shut up, you dick! Look at who you’re venting to! You’re saying far too much! What, you’re going to say “Oh, and by the way, I have my dead friend and first love stuck in my brain for all eternity?!” Quit opening up!”Blaze made Rayder come back to reality a bit, him realizing how much he was sending. Straightening himself up and clearing his face to its former emotional state, he resumed. “This is something to save wherever you hidden everything else; You were interested in being taught sign language. You didn’t have money for lessons. I already help with people wanting to learn it and saw you, so I offered my services for free. We have to work with your schedule since you can’t miss any work with your finances, so you message me when you want a “lesson”. When you message when we need to meet, it will be referred to as lessons. This will be the story we keep up from now on, understand? We need a fake story to continue this damn partnership you wanted. Whatever team building you want, it will be our “introductory lesson”. Now, whatever else you needed from me today, tell me now. Whatever information or resources you gathered, tell me." Taking another puff, he knew he'd get chewed out for smoking in his uniform both by his boss and husband, but he didn't give a damn. His nerves were scrambled, and at this point, he felt he would have a breakdown with all the emotions bottled up, withering away at him. A curse of having no voice, no way to open up or release the agony as it snowballed constantly as he hid half his life from everyone around him.

A hit in the face was NOT what he was planning on! Rayder’s head turned just from the force, but the giant showed not a single trace of pain. Looking at the smaller man, his cheek was bruised and slightly bleeding. He was about to lecture the man again about this, about messing with his face when he was the goddamn face of his job, but he walked off. Little asshole. He wanted to drop this entire partnership… but now this bastard knew so much about him. It would be so much more risky to end this with him knowing his fucking name… But now it was time to act. Rayder quickly slammed the door open, his face changing to one of pure pain, holding his bloodied and bruised cheek with one hand as he went up the stairs. Once making it to the restaurant, Izanagi saw him in pain and ran over. Some of the waiters came, as well and led him to a seat. “My boy! What did that monster do?!” The panting Rayder took his trembling hands and signed to his boss and the others, some of his cooks coming from the kitchen to check on the gentle giant. “{The man attacked me once I brought him out. I had to sadly defend myself and hit him, as well… I’m not sure what he was planning, but… I punished him for it enough. We won’t see him again. I gave him more of a punishment than authorities could give him.}" The whole place fell for it. They were comforting him, thanking him for protecting the place. “My dear boy, go take a break. We will hold the place. It’s the least I can do for what you did.” “{Thank you sir… I will go for a bit and grab something to cover this wound up. I want to still be presentable for our guests. I’ll return soon enough.}” Nodding, the pained looking Rayder walked to the back room, grabbing his wallet and other possessions. Going down the stairs, almost wobbling from the hard hit, he finally stepped out the door and walked a bit. Once he was out of sight, he stood up straight, cracking his neck and heading to the meeting spot. “You fucking better give him another hit for this! You fucking offered your arm for him to SCRATCH, and he just socked you in the jaw!!!” Blaze trailed behind Rayder, pissed off. “Andrew, no more attacking. I’m stuck with him. You were right, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have teamed up with the bastard… But now he knows too much and… maybe I was too hard on him. I need to try and make this as painless as possible… Like a tumor that can’t be removed.” “Ahhhh, I LOVE when I’m told I’m right! Doesn’t happen much!” Andrew followed with a cocky smile on his face, one only Rayder would ever see. Within minutes, Rayder made it into the pharmacy, showing the pained look on his face again as he got a few items from the store to cover the wound, looking in the mirror as he places a bandage on it until the bleeding stopped, paying the attendant and smiling as he walked out and into the alley, spotting the other man. Without typing a word, he held his hand out, demanding the other vigilante’s cell phone. He’d make sure there was nothing on there from his conversation with him.

The anger inside Rayder was immense, but he tried to relax. It would be bad if anyone else saw him like this. They wouldn’t believe just a bum customer would bring out this much rage in the giant. Taking deep breaths, the man listened to his so-called “partner”. The hushed tone that Yaguro was speaking back to Rayder in had a hint of… Something. Confidence, maybe? The giant’s mercenary grandfather taught him to notice these little details, no matter how small. He raised an eyebrow to him as he listened, knowing he had some sort of info, and would decide to use it against him. He truly had to contemplate working with someone so intrusive and reckless. At this point, he had been gone too long because of this bastard. He needed to think of something, quickly messaging the man.
“Before we can even continue this conversation, we need to take care of something. Scratch me, really bad. Make it bleed. It would be suspicious communicating this long with you. We need to make it look like an assault. I'll make sure they don't call authorities. After you do, run a few blocks to the pharmacy there, and turn in the alley. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” Rolling up his sleeve to reveal his tattooed arm, he held it out to the man, waiting with a straight face. “Don't worry, it won't hurt me. I've been trained to take worse pain. The kitchen, however, has no idea, so it'll give me a good amount of time. I will also be clearing all my messages after this one. You better clear them, as well. I will check your phone once we meet back up, so you better not have anything on there. You're no longer to be trusted, so I'll have to goddamn monitor you like a rebellious teen. Let's get to it.” The giant said, hitting the message folder and deleting all the messages he sent. There needed to be no connection between them anywhere close to his job.

Quickly, Rayder walked to the man, putting his hand over Yaguro’s mouth. How the hell was he still alive with there being nothing between his fucking ears! Loudly talking about vigilante work out here?! Gesturing his hand down, trying to let the man know to lower his voice, he finally stepped back, but not before wiping some of the blood from the punk’s mouth that got on his hand off on Yaguro’s sweatshirt before looking down at him trying to explain himself, but Rayder was having none of it as he typed.
“Well, if you take enough to lose your quirk, I think that could be called being doped up. You tried to use fucking chemicals to compensate instead of using strategy and knowledge to expand your horizons. However, your little “check” of my daily life has brought alot of confusion into that kitchen. If you ACTUALLY knew what you were doing, you would disguise yourself, put up a front. Even if you wore your daily clothing, you needed to pretend to be someone who BELONGS there, like one of those dumb food bloggers. You can compromise EVERYTHING!” Thoughts of what could happen if this bastard got them caught flooded into his head. He would lose everything… his dreams, his love, his family… it made the anger boil even more. “You don’t have much to risk in this life, as I’ve seen in my research, but that doesn’t mean we all don’t. You could never understand how much I had to fight against to get to where I am now. I had to push myself past the limits while being at a disadvantage since the moment I was born and with the world destroying everything else through the years, ripping away EVERYTHING i held dear! I have shed too much blood, sweat, and tears to be taken down by a clueless excuse for a vigilante who can’t understand the simple restrictions his “partner” gave him! YOU wanted me to work with you, and I put my entire existence on the line by agreeing to help you out! You run into the line of fire without a plan or common sense, and you expect me to trust you? No. That’s not how this is going to work anymore. You are going to listen to me. It’s clear that your years of patrolling have done nothing to prepare you for the dangers that surround us and our work! It’s a fucking wonder you’re still alive!” Running his hand through his long hair, Rayder tried to calm himself, pacing in front of the smaller man. Rayder might only be 3 years older than him, but it was clear Yaguro was more of a child than anything.
“Keep going, Stringbean! I’m LOVING this onslaught of insults you’re throwing at the prick!” Blaze tried egging him on. In Rayder’s eyes, the redhead was standing next to Yaguro, glaring at him with a large smile. “Fuck, I wish I could kick him. Do it for me, with your fake leg! REALLY make it hurt.”
“Andrew, not NOW!” The giant screamed in his head at the man, unconsciously staring towards him with anger. It would look like he was staring at nothing to anyone else. “I am dealing with a potential threat to our livelihoods-”
“That I warned your ass about! I’m going to make sure I rub it in your face long enough! What are you going to do? Put headphones in to not hear me? Remember I’m in your goddamn head forever! Now, keep berating this asshole instead of me.” Blaze stood, arms crossed with Rayder walking over to Yaguro, eyes still locked on the unknown visitor until he was towering over the man and typing away once again.
“NEVER try this again. NEVER mess with our fucking life. Next time it will be the last time you call yourself a vigilante, whether it means we kick the everliving shit out of you until you’re worse off than we are, or we fucking happen to give your name to some authority. Who will they believe in the end of it all; the former criminal with nothing to his name, or the mute one-legged family man? Don’t make it to where you’ll see if these are empty threats or not. No more questions about it. Do. You. Understand?” His anger was so intense, the giant unconsciously used “we” and “our” with his words, showing this fury was both his and Blaze’s in his words. Even without a voice, it was clear the anger and intensity was prevalent as his gaze seemed to burn right through the smaller man.

Rayder was walking out fast, anger spread across the giant’s face, Rayder quickly turned towards an alley next to the building, making sure Yaguro would know to come into it. Waiting for the son of a bitch to come, Blaze was losing it on Rayder.
“I TOLD you, you naive fucking redwood! He is a fucking bastard! Especially what you found out, too!”
“Andrew! PLease, I’m fucking pissed as it is! But don’t worry, I’m going to make sure this bitch doesn’t test us again…”
“Oh, HELL YEAH! THAT’S the Stringbean I remember! Don’t be such a pussy anymore! Kick his ass, or I’ll give you a fucking migraine again!”
Standing and waiting, the giant didn’t waste a moment when Yaguro turned to corner into the alley as well, pulling him fully in, sending fist after fist into his face before throwing the bastard into the trash bins. The kitchen would believe the sound to be him kicking out the delinquent in their kitchen and leave Rayder to his business.
Panting, he grabbed his phone, beginning to message him a long bout of scolding.
“How dare you. How FUCKING dare you! I made a deal with you to let me be in my daily life, and here you come like a rat scampering into my place of employment, making a mockery of everything, and humiliating me!” He smirked, knowing how to kick him best while he was down. “You are acting like nothing but the lowlife the Thunderbolts falsely believed you to be, Mr. Yaguro Shamasu. Was a shame you were falsely labelled as a villain all while trying to help, and while being doped out on quirk enhancing drugs. Now you’re as quirkless as I am now, as well, aren’t you? Do you think you’re the only one who did research? Do you want me to tell you everything I learned about you? Where you live, where you work, your nonexistent connections with anyone and how I easily found all this out? But did I strut around showing off all of this information, going into that little convenient store you work in with a big cocky smile and talking to your coworkers? HELL NO! Because all I would EVER use that information for is a quick confirmation my family was safe with me near you, and I would’ve NEVER thrown it into your face! But here we are, and you crossed the line, so I’m crossing this line, as well.”
He walked over, staring down at Yaguro and waiting for him to read the message. He would not play nice with him anymore. The moment his livelihood and family was on the line, this lowlife would feel the wrath of hell bottled inside the giant for oh so long.
