Kenta tried to keep an upbeat attitude most of the time but at this popping he couldn’t help but be a bit mad at himself. He had everything prepared, he knew about the time and everything, but he just had to oversleep. Guess he stayed up a little bit to late getting hype about all of it...he even ate his breakfast on the run but by the time he got to it orientation was underway. And he wasn’t risking getting on the teacher bad list on the first day. At least if he didn’t come in at all maybe they wouldn’t notice? They’d' probably notice anyway?

Still, that was a problem for later. Now he had a more current problem. Finding his way around school wasn’t all that hard, issue is he didn’t know what else really happened during the orientation. Schedules, class assignment? And the other question was where'd he find the info he might be missing.

There was only one thing that could save him now...his charm and forwardness! Well that was two things but anyway, he needed to find someone he knew was in there. He hoovered around the room so he saw some of the people coming in and out, now to find one of that looked like they'd be taking notes and willing to share... For some reason he couldn’t find Farrin at this very moment

After some meandering he noticed someone. A girl with dark grey hair and yellow...golden-ish eyes? He noticed her walking out of the orientation, and she looked pretty smart. Smart enough to not be late for it, so one step ahead of him! Without much thought he approached her before saying "Hiii there...erm...say, I don’t think we got to hear our names...mine's Kenta how about you?!" he asked, probably sounding a bit more nervous than he'd like but hey one way to break the ice.

''Huh?'' She looked up, blinking her eyes at Kenta for a moment as she assessed the situation. Was this another bully who had come to make fun of her after the orientation? No... It couldn't be, he seemed nervous to even be approaching her in the first place. Was it because she looked like a girl? No, it was nothing like that, maybe he was just another misfit like herself. At least she chose to believe that as she opened her mouth to respond. ''Hi.'' She finally responded. ''I'm Freja Helt, first year student at the Department of Heroes.'' That's right, that quirkless loser who was trying to make it in heroics. This was her own way to test Kenta. If he really wasn't a bully he probably wouldn't laugh at her. Probably. She had to admit a quirkless student who thought she could become a hero was pretty funny. Still, she liked to think there was a potential friend to make here. The more friends the better in a place like this was the general vibe she already got from the school.

The only problem was Freja didn't exactly have amazing people skills either. She considered herself a better listener rather than a conversationalist. ''What a day, huh? What did you think of the opening speech Leonid-sensei held?'' That was a pretty good way to gauge what kind of person he was, right? And it was perfectly relevant since they had just heard it not too long ago so it would still be fresh in both their minds.

First contact established, yeah, all smooth sailing from here for sure. “Right, Freya, my fellow student of the first year, I really liked it when you said the thing when prof…erm…” dang It, he was probably sounding suspicious again. Not remembering the professor's name…though he probably should remember it since he was a big hero in his own right. Big Lion guy…what could be his name…it couldn’t be something too obvious right?

“He shook his head as the girl replied to him…turns out it could be that obvious “Right, a fine speech! Telling us all about being heroes and… stuff were expected to do…and…ok ok” he let out a sigh, slapping himself lightly on the cheek. Maybe he was trying to be too clever about all this…honest was supposed to be the best policy.

After a moment he said “Look, I know I started off weird but…thing is, I may have mistimed stuff and I missed the orientation. And I was looking for someone who was here to ask about some of the details so I don’t miss anything and I don’t end up in trouble in my first week…And here we are” he paused, doing a double-finger gun motion towards his fellow student “Could you help me out a bit? I'll be sure to repay you!” he finished, clasping both hands in front of him and bowing his head down. Probably a strange first impression to make but he rolled his dice at this point.

''What?'' He liked what she said? Was he for real? Did he not hear how embarrassing her question was? ''Right..'' She gave him a suspicious look as he talked about the speech. ''Uh-'' Was she supposed to intervene when he slapped himself? Maybe this guy, Kenta, was even more strange than her. It was kind of endearing and disarming though, like she knew he wouldn't do anything to hurt her based on how he was acting.

''Oh,'' she smiled, ''so that's what it is.'' Yes!!!! He hadn't even been to the orientation, that meant he hadn't seen Freja make an idiot out of herself and now she could conveniently leave that part out while giving him a recap. Maybe she could make one of her first friends here, one who didn't know how much of a loser she was. The double finger motion made her giggle briefly. ''Sure, I'll help you. No need to repay me either.'' She waved her hand in front of her face casually. ''What do you want to know? I guess I just start from the beginning..'' She put a hand up to her chin as she ran back the events in her head.

''Everyone was gathered for the orientation and there was idle chatter until Leonid-sensei stepped out. He held this grand speech about how we need to follow our dreams and do our best and then afterwards he opened the floor up. Uh, kind of like a Q&A situation. Then students began asking questions.'' She rubbed the back of her neck. ''Some students asked about fighting others, already, on our first orientation, isn't that insane?'' She chuckled, hoping Kenta would see that too. He didn't seem like the 'eager to fight type' in any case. ''That's basically it! Nothing much happened, so I think you're good.''

He choose a good moment to pivot around cause he could see he was losing her. Or at least weirding her out…one probably not to far of from the other. Probably not the best first impression to start trying to trick her and then come clean with it. But it did seem to work right now.
She offered him the information, and didn’t even want anything in return “Aaa, thankyouthankyou” he said, bowing up and down a few times in a mostly exaggerated fashion, chuckling a bit as he thanked her. As she started talking he did quiet up to not interrupt her, strengthening himself. SO Leonid gave the opening speech, which had to be cool. Maybe there would be some recording of it later… he needed some way to make sure he didn’t get caught skipping out on it.

As she mentioned the part with students asking questions and one talking about sparring, he blinked a few times as the proverbial light bulb went of in his head before he said “Hmm, Lemme guess, a guy that looks like an exchange student, tall with messy brown hair, talks kind of like this…erm more like…nope, I won't get the accent right” he said with chuckling afterward. If he was guessing right that it was Farrin that brought the topic up, he imagined she’d get the idea of who he was talking about.

Afterward, he’d cross his arms behind his head saying “huh…I was almost expecting that there would be more organizational stuff…you know, introducing teachers, class schedules, or something. But I guess that’ll be for us on the website or something…Soo, watcha doing now? Can I treat you to a drink or snack? I don’t want to get all this info completely for free you know” he added, a lot more relaxed now. Seemingly he avoided instant doom from missing a school function, so now he could get to know a fellow student better.

Kenta… What a strange guy! She had been scared when he initially approached her, but now she wasn’t even sure how someone so nice could have looked scary two minutes ago. The exaggerated bowing had her covering her mouth as she giggled. Kenta was definitely not a bully, if anything he already felt like someone she could feel safe around.

She chuckled when he was right on the money about the student that wanted to fight others. “He was behind me so I didn’t get a good luck, but I think that’s O’Rourke you’re talking about.” She might not have seen him but the accent was unmistakable. No one else in school sounded like Farrin to her knowledge. “I know right? It was surprisingly short, just a big speech to get us all riled up and then he took a few questions.” She shrugged, having expected the same as Kenta, a much more formal orientation. “Now?” She blinked her eyes. Well, she had planned to go back to her room and cry, maybe die of cringe a little bit at how she presented her question at the orientation. However, pushing those feelings aside and hanging out with Kenta sounded a lot more preferable. “Sure! I haven’t had anything to drink for a few hours.” She smiled, “can’t go getting dehydrated.” She would start walking towards the cafeteria expecting him to follow. “So what brings you here? Big dreams of wanting to be a hero? Is your quirk one of those extremely powerful ones?”

Kenta could be a goof but he mostly just went with it. If he acted silly best to make a joke out of it rather than angst about it, at least he tried. And it usually helped warm people up to him. After a moment she confirmed his suspicion making him laugh out loud “Geez…Well at least he asked, I bet he’s going to try twice as hard here as he did in prep school…which is a bit scary to think about” his tone turning more dramatic for a second, though in a jokey way as he soon returned to his calm demeanor “ Maybe they're expecting us to figure the details out as to the schedule and all by ourselves? Keep us on or toes or something?” he mused as she started to walk, with him following behind.

As she asked her questions, he mused a bit before saying “Well, It's powerful enough to do this!” he exclaimed, waving his arms to the side…and Suddenly from his back, two long blue hands emerged wiggling back and forth, almost like one of those inflatable balloon people you’d see in some festival.

After a moment he said “I can make this gel come out of my body… as I started practicing it turned out I can make a lot of it…sometimes it’s a bit hard to control, but I’m hoping I'll learn a lot more about that here! And well… I was always an active kid, which was a bit of a bummer when you live in a small tourist town. So I just started doing stuff for fun, especially after my quirk emerged. One time I…messed up a bit and a local hero bailed me out. And I kind of started thinking that if I was gonna make my life more exciting, I should probably try to help other people as well…so here I am trying to learn that, heh…probably sounds a bit weird” he added with a more sheepish tone before asking “How about you? Get some super-secret backstory that led you here?” he asked with a cheeky smile.
