[attr="class","explorerbody"] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ PERSONALITY ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] Regardless of the ways in which civilization evolves — even including the fantastical abilities granted to a majority of the population — there remain those who endure the thankless work of the masses; yet, in doing so, the faceless masses facilitate the very foundation from which everything else emerges. Some hope to relieve themselves from the role of a cog, and some resign themselves to their fate of necessary inconsequentiality — such as Callisto Tengoku.
[break][break]
Callisto convinces himself to be an otherwise unremarkable individual — when compared to the realm of heroes and villains, at least. He doesn't aspire to a lofty ideal or moral principle, nor does he see himself as one to free himself from being a cog; or rather, he doesn't believe it to be possible to become anything but a cog whilst remaining in the bounds of the civilized world. "Even heroes," he'd posit, "are still roles to be filled, regardless of the reason." The same holds true for villains, vigilantes — the like. He'd posit that these roles, although slimmer in number and dressed up to become spectacles, are no different to the greater world than the average person's duties.
[break][break]
Cal doesn't take to this view out of cynicism, however; in fact, the Venetian considers this ideology to be an impartial perspective of the world, one that recontextualizes the exceptional and one's place in a world where extraordinary is ordinary:
[break][break]
The only thing that separates the remarkable and the unremarkable is the arbitrary beliefs of the worth of such titles.
[break][break]
For that reason, the Italian-born man tries to live life for the moment, not for the prestige or legacy that follows. Who cares if he's remembered in infamy for the next century? Will a memory of notoriety put food on the table, a roof over his family's heads, and a safe place to stay? What good will history's grandeur do for himself and those he cares for if they'll be too dead and gone to see it?
[break][break]
Though Callisto assures himself that a life of such silent acquiescence is the way for him to survive, something within him remains wary. Despite the desire to accept his role — to accept his own philosophy — as something to find peace in, that nagging feeling of curiosity continues to poke at his mind time, and time, and time again. Perhaps he could be an outlier, perhaps he could reach the realm of the exceptional — but what difference would it make?
[break][break]
What worth would there be in becoming remarkable?
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ APPEARANCE ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] Though his mind remains shackled by ideology, Callisto's visage stands out as one of artistic self-expression; his body is not a vessel meant to merely harbor thoughts and inclinations. No, if Callisto is the painter, then his body is his canvas — one that must be adorned and brought to life to best exemplify the composition he idealizes.
[break][break]
But any artist must first ensure their piece be upon a stable base; a woodworker, a fine piece of oak — a sculptor, a workable block of marble — and, for a painter, a canvas that won't bleed. Callisto holds himself to such a standard, then, scrupulously maintaining the figure he finds himself best suited. For his otherwise unassuming stature, the Venetian works to accentuate his stockier physique, bulking up across his form. Even to the eyes of those untrained, his body demonstrates a balanced musculature, one honed — and continuously aimed — for overall excellence.
[break][break]
With such a build as his base, Callisto dyes himself in the colors of Japan's skater culture and streetwear; with the wear of brands fitted for style and activity, the graffiti artist wastes no effort in hiding himself behind hues of black, white, and gray. Rather, he bedecks himself in a myriad of colors, often dressing differently each day of the week — sometimes, even, each day of the month. No color seems to be absent from his wardrobe — just as any artist is willing to play with any pigment.
[break][break]
Most notable of Callisto's presence is the recent alteration of his hair. A once flowing, snow-white mane reaching down his shoulders and towards his back, the villain's hair has now evolved into a deliberately untamed style that purposefully demonstrates itself as a free-flowing ocean. Oftentimes, the only evidence of stylization is the two buns pulled back atop his head (which may be traded for a single bun or even a ponytail, if he ever feels so inclined).
[break][break]
When dressed for work as a villain, however, Callisto disregards his normal flair. Though his style of clothing remains largely unchanged, the regular vibrancy of his attire is stripped; instead, becoming concealed in darker tones with a gaiter mask covering the lower half of his face and a hood over his hair. When equipped in such a manner, the most prominent feature of attention is the Columbina mask across his eyes, concealing the last of his identity behind a memorable display reminiscent of home.
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ HISTORY ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] The year was 2064. The world's status quo, though still in ever-shifting turmoil, was one of heroism — or, at least, the normalization and popularization of a hero society. Of those spontaneously granted a quirk in their lifetime, one Haru Tengoku of Utsunomiya, Japan, had spent the latter majority of her years in the now superpowered world — an orphan, one of many, left in the wake of quirks. [break][break] At this point, she was still a young woman — only 25, as she'd recalled it — yet the world she'd known was one of carnage and chaos. She, like many, wished to be of aid in such tumultuous times — but not of those who flaunted their supernatural abilities. Rather, Haru volunteered as a nurse, taking to wherever she was sent to aid those harmed in villain attacks. [break][break] Following a particularly devastating one in Venice, Italy, Haru was flown out as one of many aids to the city with the objective of assisting the native medical efforts. A quirk-user with the ability to manipulate waters had inflicted a number of injuries upon the population, with a few drowned in the waters — some sources even suggested that a number more bodies had been washed out further into the Adriatic Sea, but evidence for this remains inconclusive. [break][break] Of those aided, Haru happened upon a Venetian man — one "Lorenso DeAngelo," a local man known for his place in the community as a local storeowner and painter. Lorenso had spent his 29 years of life in Venice working with the many tourists who'd flocked to his home, interacting and learning from the many walks of life beyond his own. Of the many things learned by the Venetian, languages had come naturally with time — and of those learned, one was Japanese. [break][break] Haru and Lorenso got on with one another. Both had been left greatly scarred by the birth of quirks during their lifetimes; Haru in her orphanhood, and Lorenso in the many people — especially those whom he'd cared for — lost in the name of senseless pride whilst being incapable of interfering. They found solace in one another's company, a sense of comfort in their mutually understood tragedies. It wasn't long before the two considered their fondness as love. [break][break] After 3 years spent with one another, the two officially tied the knot; married in the summer of 2067, Haru and Lorenso chose to intertwine their lives. Though Haru, now "Haru DeAngelo," continued her work — traveling the many corners of the world as she had before — the two never strayed away from one another for long; whether she was in Spain, Brazil, or even Cuba, she'd only stay for a short few months before returning to her husband in Venice. [break][break] At some point over the next decade, Haru chose to settle down properly. With an adulthood spent helping those in need, one that left her with the sight of humanity's worst, she ultimately decided upon the start of a family with the man she'd fallen in love with — and so, it was. As the chill of autumn swept through the canals of Venice, Callisto DeAngelo would be born into the world. Though both father and mother were hesitant to bring new life into the world, the simple sight of their newborn — a yet untouched and unburdened soul, pure as the hair of his father (and soon, his own) — dispelled the lingering fears haunting the couple. [break][break] Callisto's early childhood was spent in Venice, with his first decade of life spent in the winding streets, flowing channels, and the locals of his beautiful home. The world was smaller — simpler — in such a place, with the passage of time a stranger; it was as though the world itself never aged, regardless of its inhabitants. Yet, the beauty in its wake was always admired, brought to life in careful pigments upon canvases for those that followed. [break][break] But, in this miniature world that never seemed to change, Haru found a sense of discomfort growing inside her heart. Though she loved the city — and even more so the man she'd met in it — the passing years left her isolated with only herself, her child, and her husband — with nothing else left to pursue or show for it. Her husband, by contrast, held little reason to ever venture beyond his home; after all, visitors from all across the world gathered in Venice, even if only as tourists. [break][break] There was no suitable compromise for the two to live as they each saw fit. Though they loved one another — a feeling still maintained to the present — they could not find a suitable course for mutual happiness. At least, not together. [break][break] Though the decision came not lightly, especially with regard to their son and his place in the shift, Haru and Lorenso broke off their 20 years of marriage in the year 2087, with Callisto sent back alongside his mother — to a place he could learn of the larger world: [break][break] Tokyo, Japan. [break][break] Coming from a place of relative serenity and perpetuity, the bustling metropolis of Tokyo — as well as the, though not entirely foreign, culture — came as an unbelievable sight. A world like this, beyond the narrow scopes of Venice's channels and immediate wonders, was one so much vaster and even more lively than he'd ever known; everywhere one turned, there were people whose lives had nothing to do with the people they passed, likely to never see each other ever again! The still-young Callisto, now Callisto Tengoku, could never think as he had before — not in this boundless society. [break][break] Haru had wanted a life more enthralling for herself and her son — to place them in the beating heart of humanity's progress and innovation, where change was the state of things. Though, to support life in such a place, working alone as a nurse wouldn't provide her son or herself anything beyond the necessities. They would survive, to be sure, but not live — the whole point of bringing her son to such a place. [break][break] But fate, as it happened, favored their boldness. And, as chance had it, an opportunity fell right before Haru's grasp; a job from an affluent man with the necessary medical background (if a situation was to arise), Haru was made a maid whose duties were tied to the man's adopted children. Though the nature of his adoptions was questionable — especially with regard to his treatment of his "exotic" children — she took the role, caring after the three children: Lilian, Umeko, and Rui Matsui. [break][break] In a time when he lacked knowledge of the social norms of this new country, the young Callisto found comfort in these people as foreign to this world as he was, if for differing reasons. His mother couldn't have simply left her child to be as he was, given his yet-honed knowledge of Japan, and so brought him along whenever he would be alone — and, in doing so, made for Callisto's first friends in his new home. [break][break] Though he got on with those he schooled with — learning the social etiquette of his new surroundings from them — none could compare to the Matsui siblings. They were eccentric individuals, whose personalities went far beyond this menial (by comparison) schoolmates; they were alive with personalities, with their own tales of woe leading them to their odd circumstances. He was incapable of changing it, given his lack of influence as a youth, but hoped that his company would be of some solace. [break][break] But the years passed along, and Callisto adapted to his new environment. He wasn't the studious type in any regard, and his artistic ability wasn't regarded as something of worth — perhaps it was a result of Japan's priorities, but it wasn't long before Callisto fell in with the rebellious types. Those who abhorred the way of things, those that wanted to break free, and those with grander ideals; Callisto took to their way of things, making a place for himself amongst their numbers. They were mostly harmless, with little done by the group to draw attention from authorities, but their place in the grander schemes of criminal activity soon came to be. [break][break] Having drifted away from the Matsui siblings and their choices, Callisto spent his late teenage years and his early adulthood becoming invested in the criminal world that he now found himself. Japan had brought him a life more enthralling than he could have found in Venice, but not in the way his mother ever intended; never finishing his formal education, the Venetian became a hired goon, one face of many in a hooded crowd who made ends meet in the way they found themselves suited for. [break][break] Though, as he began his new work — its own form of day job, if illicit in nature — Callisto learned of the incident regarding the Matsui siblings, with his mother informing him of the now deceased man. The details of the scene were unknown to Haru, but the immediate impact left the Tengokus in their now current life; Callisto, working as he does, and Haru, who became a nurse at a local hospital, continue to live under the same roof, with both playing their share of the cost. A seemingly normal life, despite the odd means that brought it about. Even while the user sleeps, or is otherwise incapacitated, their body continues to produce energy. This energy does not, however, remain within the body; when the user reaches their maximum, their body naturally releases their energy — typically through the ground, but any contact point suffices — harmlessly. However, with proper concentration, the user can selectively discharge their energy, including from which parts of their body and the intensity of their effect.
[break][break]
▸ELECTROMAGNETIC DISCHARGE[break] When touching a solid or liquid material (even through his clothes), Callisto can place upon it a layer of his energy — like a layer of coating — that grants the affected area a positive or negative polarity (depending on his choice at the time of discharge). Objects with the same charge will repel themselves from each other whilst those with opposites will pull. The intensity of their attractions or propulsions, as well as which objects will do so more intensely relative to other affected objects, is up to Cal at the moment of creation.
[break][break]
Despite holding a vast capacity, Callisto's body's intensity is assumed to be as weak as it can be, nearly nonexistent, unless he actively imbues himself with a discharge. He can, though, determine whether his body is either a positive or negative polarity without penalty. Additionally, when it comes to charging polarity internally, Callisto is capable of dividing his body into 11 separate sects that can be individually affected; each foreleg (feet included), thigh (also counts the knees), upper arms (shoulders too), forearms (which includes the hands), and the neck, head, and torso.
[break][break]
QUIRK DRAWBACKS/LIMITATIONS:[break][break]
▸STAGE[break] Most everything in a setting, unless otherwise explicitly stated, does not have a polarity capable of interacting with the charges of this quirk. As a result, things unaffected by Polarity are considered "neutral;" this additionally applies to other characters, even those with electric abilities and said electric abilities (unless, again, it's explicitly stated otherwise).
[break][break]
▸CHARGED[break] Callisto, for the purposes of being affected by his own discharges, is always considered charged with a polarity. His starting polarity, as well as his current polarity in any given round, will be listed — likely in the notes of a chosen posting template — for the sake of simplicity. Furthermore, Callisto can only freely change his body's polarity(s) once per round, and only once that round.
[break][break]
▸SPACING[break] From the point of contact, a discharge is most effectively directly at the initial source of contact and its near vicinity. The further out from the center the source moves, the weaker the relative push or pull effect. Callisto can additionally choose to decrease his range if he so wishes, though this does not increase the effectiveness of his quirk.
[break][break]
▸TIMER[break] The electromagnetic charges created by Polarity last for, at their maximum, 1 minute IC time, ending right as it moves onto the next minute. Like most things with Polarity, this is simply the limit, and Callisto can employ shorter usages if he so desires.
[break][break]
▸EMPTY[break] The discharges performed by Polarity do not result in any harm or damage to targets directly. At most, a momentary second — a mere fraction of one, effectively — of numbness may be felt if performed upon a living being capable of feeling.

Callisto best embodies the style of Muay Bouk — a style of fighting defined by offense-oriented use of all one's techniques and options. As implemented, Muay Bouk is one solemnly dedicated to pushing forward regardless of injury; it seldom seeks opportunity to retreat.
[break][break]
SKILL NAME: "I Don't Get Paid Enough For This" (Acrobatics)[break] SKILL RANK: D[break] SKILL DESCRIPTION: Most jobs undertaken by the crook are fairly dull. But there arises, at times, the occasion that some big-shot hero or vigilante decides to make his duties hell. In such situations, where the risk of capture far outweighed that of profit, Cal developed (and continues to improve upon) the skill of fleeing — maintaining balance whilst running like hell from whatever he's not getting paid enough to fight.

He doesn't aspire to a lofty ideal or moral principle, nor does he see himself as one to free himself from being a cog; or rather, he doesn't believe it to be possible to become anything [i]but[/i] a cog whilst remaining in the bounds of the civilized world.
Perhaps he could be an outlier, perhaps he [i]could[/i] reach the realm of the exceptional — but what difference would it make?
[break][break]
What worth would there be in becoming remarkable?
[break][break]

[break][break]
[div][attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ APPEARANCE ◂[/div][break] [div][attr="class","explorerbox"] Though his mind remains shackled by ideology, Callisto's visage stands out as one of artistic self-expression; his body is not a vessel meant to merely harbor thoughts and inclinations.

[div][attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ HISTORY ◂[/div][break] [div][attr="class","explorerbox"] The year was 2064.
[break][break]
At this point, she was still a young woman — only 25, as she'd recalled it — yet the world she'd known was one of carnage and chaos. She, like many, wished to be of aid in such tumultuous times — but not of those who flaunted their supernatural abilities. Rather, Haru volunteered as a nurse, taking to wherever she was sent to aid those harmed in villain attacks.
[break][break]
Following a particularly devastating one in Venice, Italy, Haru was flown out as one of many aids to the city with the objective of assisting the native medical efforts. A quirk-user with the ability to manipulate waters had inflicted a number of injuries upon the population, with a few drowned in the waters — some sources even suggested that a number more bodies had been washed out further into the Adriatic Sea, but evidence for this remains inconclusive.
[break][break]
Of those aided, Haru happened upon a Venetian man — one "Lorenso DeAngelo," a local man known for his place in the community as a local storeowner and painter. Lorenso had spent his 29 years of life in Venice working with the many tourists who'd flocked to his home, interacting and learning from the many walks of life beyond his own. Of the many things learned by the Venetian, languages had come naturally with time — and of those learned, one was Japanese.
[break][break]
Haru and Lorenso got on with one another.
[break][break]
After 3 years spent with one another, the two officially tied the knot; married in the summer of 2067, Haru and Lorenso chose to intertwine their lives. Though Haru, now "Haru DeAngelo," continued her work — traveling the many corners of the world as she had before — the two never strayed away from one another for long; whether she was in Spain, Brazil, or even Cuba, she'd only stay for a short few months before returning to her husband in Venice.
[break][break]
At some point over the next decade, Haru chose to settle down properly.
[break][break]
Callisto's early childhood was spent in Venice, with his first decade of life spent in the winding streets, flowing channels, and the locals of his beautiful home. The world was smaller — simpler — in such a place, with the passage of time a stranger; it was as though the world itself never aged, regardless of its inhabitants. Yet, the beauty in its wake was always admired, brought to life in careful pigments upon canvases for those that followed.
[break][break]
But, in this miniature world that never seemed to change, Haru found a sense of discomfort growing inside her heart.
[break][break]
There was no suitable compromise for the two to live as they each saw fit. Though they loved one another — a feeling still maintained to the present — they could not find a suitable course for mutual happiness. At least, not together.
[break][break]
Though the decision came not lightly, especially with regard to their son and his place in the shift, Haru and Lorenso broke off their 20 years of marriage in the year 2087, with Callisto sent back alongside his mother — to a place he could learn of the larger world:
[break][break]
Tokyo, Japan.
[break][break]
Coming from a place of relative serenity and perpetuity, the bustling metropolis of Tokyo — as well as the, though not entirely foreign, culture — came as an unbelievable sight.
[break][break]
Haru had wanted a life more enthralling for herself and her son — to place them in the beating heart of humanity's progress and innovation, where change was the state of things. Though, to support life in such a place, working alone as a nurse wouldn't provide her son or herself anything beyond the necessities. They would survive, to be sure, but not [i]live[/i] — the whole point of bringing her son to such a place.
[break][break]
But fate, as it happened, favored their boldness. And, as chance had it, an opportunity fell right before Haru's grasp; a job from an affluent man with the necessary medical background (if a situation was to arise), Haru was made a maid whose duties were tied to the man's adopted children. Though the nature of his adoptions was questionable — especially with regard to his treatment of his "exotic" children — she took the role, caring after the three children: [a href="https://ffjmyheroacademiarp.proboards.com/user/16"][font color="4ec8f5"]Lilian[/font][/a], [a href="https://ffjmyheroacademiarp.proboards.com/user/24"][font color="4ec8f5"]Umeko[/font][/a], and [a href="https://ffjmyheroacademiarp.proboards.com/user/72"][font color="4ec8f5"]Rui Matsui[/font][/a].
[break][break]
In a time when he lacked knowledge of the social norms of this new country, the young Callisto found comfort in these people as foreign to this world as he was, if for differing reasons. His mother couldn't have simply left her child to be as he was, given his yet-honed knowledge of Japan, and so brought him along whenever he would be alone — and, in doing so, made for Callisto's first friends in his new home.
[break][break]
Though he got on with those he schooled with — learning the social etiquette of his new surroundings from them — none could compare to the Matsui siblings.
[break][break]
But the years passed along, and Callisto adapted to his new environment.
[break][break]
Having drifted away from the Matsui siblings and their choices, Callisto spent his late teenage years and his early adulthood becoming invested in the criminal world that he now found himself. Japan [i]had[/i] brought him a life more enthralling than he could have found in Venice, but not in the way his mother ever intended; never finishing his formal education, the Venetian became a hired goon, one face of many in a hooded crowd who made ends meet in the way they found themselves suited for.
[break][break]
Though, as he began his new work — its own form of day job, if illicit in nature — Callisto learned of the incident regarding the Matsui siblings, with his mother informing him of the now deceased man.

Even while the user sleeps, or is otherwise incapacitated, their body continues to produce. This energy does not, however, remain within the body; when the user reaches their maximum, their body naturally releases their energy — typically through the ground, but any contact point suffices — harmlessly. Though, with proper concentration, the user can selectively discharge their energy, including from which parts of their body and the intensity of their effect.
[break][break]
[font color="4287f5"]▸ELECTROMAGNETIC DISCHARGE[/font][break] When touching a physical object (even when wearing clothes), Callisto can place upon it a layer of his energy — like a layer of coating — that grants the affected area a positive or negative polarity (depending on his choice at the time of discharge). Objects with the same charge will repel themselves from each other whilst those with opposite will pull on each other. The intensity of their attractions or propulsions, as well as which objects will do so more intensely relative to other affected objects, is based on the amount of "Charges" the user imbues into them.
[break][break]
[u]1 Charge:[/u] D-[break] [u]2 Charges:[/u] D[break] [u]3 Charges:[/u] D+[break] [u]4 Charges:[/u] C-[break] [u]5 Charges:[/u] C
[break][break]
Callisto naturally generates 3 Charges every turn, with his body holding up to 30 Charges at any given time. However, it should be noted that, despite holding a vast capacity, Callisto's body's intensity is assumed to be D- unless he actively imbues himself with the above-listed values. He can, though, determine whether his body is either a positive or negative polarity without cost. Additionally, when it comes to charging polarity internally, Callisto is capable of dividing his body into 6 separate sects that can be individually charged; each leg, each arm, the torso, and the head (including the neck). He does not [i]have[/i] to divide his body when he charges himself if he so chooses.
[break][break]
[font color="#4ec8f5"][b]QUIRK DRAWBACKS/LIMITATIONS:[/b][/font][break][break]
[font color="4287f5"]▸STAGE[/font][break] Most everything in a setting, unless otherwise explicitly stated, does not have a polarity capable of interacting with the charges of this quirk. As a result, things unaffected by Polarity are considered "neutral;" this additionally applies to other characters, even those with electric abilities and said electric abilities (unless, again, it's explicitly stated otherwise).
[break][break]
[font color="4287f5"]▸CHARGED[/font][break] Callisto, for the purposes of being affected by his own discharges, is always considered charged with a polarity. His starting polarity, as well as his current polarity in any given round, will be listed — likely in the notes of a chosen posting template — for the sake of simplicity. Furthermore, Callisto can only change his body's polarity(s) once per round, and only once that round. The only exception to having either polarity, however, is if Cal is entirely empty and out of Charges, in which case he is considered neutral.
[break][break]
[font color="4287f5"]▸SPACING[/font][break] From the point of contact, a discharge has an effective radius of 3 meters where it is considered most potent (i.e. the potency listed in the description). For every 3-meter increment following this range, the effectiveness of charges decreases by a single rank. Callisto can additionally choose to decrease his range if he so wishes, though this does not increase the effectiveness of his quirk.
[break][break]
[font color="4287f5"]▸TIMER[/font][break] The electromagnetic charges created by Polarity last for, at their maximum, 3 turns, ending at the start of the user's 3rd following turn. Like most things with Polarity, this is simply the limit, and Callisto can employ shorter usages if he so desires.
[break][break]
[font color="4287f5"]▸EMPTY[/font][break] The discharges performed by Polarity do not result in any harm or damage to targets directly. At most, a momentary second — a mere fraction of one, effectively — of numbness may be felt if performed upon a living being.
