She was about to knock. Sincerely. She had always been against visiting this quirk specialist, only giving into it to perhaps make U.A happy or get the relief she thought she needed but deep down wasn't what she truly wanted. What she truly wanted? It was an easy enough answer.[break][break]
She needed them to hurry to their doom, as soon as possible.[break][break]
Kaida was conflicted. She would have hesitated to say in the past that she needed help, or rather, that she deserved it, but now she realised she needed it. Trying to kill other students was of course not a normal practice, but the dragoness didn't seek out help as- well, who knew what the consequences would be if anyone realised her alter ego's true motives? It had killed her on the inside to stay quiet, but the alternatives - being kicked out - would have killed her anyways. [break][break]
Was it really worth it to go through with this if there wasn't anything at the end, and more important things at hand? Could she afford to do that?[break][break]
Her hand dropped. She remembered. Running red rivers the colour blood soaked her hands, as well as the one she failed to protect. No. There wasn't any time for this. There wasn't any time at all... she can't wait around and let them hurt other people anymore- they've suffered for too long at their hands. They needed her now.[break][break]
It had been a good streak, if only for the two times she had showed up. But her brows creased in thought as she frowned and pursued her lips, standing still for a long moment before turning away. Kaida could spend her time doing better things- and that was pursuing the person who she was so surely convinced of that had been behind everything- the yakuza groups that consistently fought and followed her outside of U.A, Sōma's attack, Sango, the battle at Mikurajima. Everything.[break][break]
It's all their fault. It's their fault she could have been standing on her grave, as well as Jun and Kenzou's.[break][break]
They needed to go down.[break][break]
She promptly left, tugging the hood of her jacket over her head as she turned away and left the building, searching for the nearest subway station. With no hesitation, she left the hard work she had been building on and made for Tokushima as she boarded the train. Frost built in her heart as she stared at the passing buildings with an icy, forlorn look in her eyes- but her grip was clenched with fury. Whatever it took, she would find them. | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Recovery was not going fast enough. There were some instances of Jun trying her best and pushing beyond what she had been through, but it wasn't easy. Her body felt like it had gone through a hard reset, and her muscles refused to operate the way they normally did. And to make matters worse she had a nice scar spread out of her chest. To be fair, it looked pretty sweet, but the cost to get it was a little too high. Jun and Kaida had barely spoken since the incident, and Jun had to continuously hammer home that she was still on board with helping her friend and mentor. She wasn't going to let Kaida carry her burden alone, even if it killed Jun. Again. And so there she was, walking along the streets of Tokyo after a day's worth of work when a familiar silhouette crossed her vision. It was hard to tell at first, but after a good minute of scrutiny Jun determined that this was Kaida. Same walk, same posture, everything. Only thing that was missing was her weapon, but that didn't mean she didn't have it on her. And so, in the spirit of keeping her friend out of danger, Jun followed. Granted, like every other time she tried to be stealthy she was not doing a good job of it. The subway station was weird, and it was hard to gauge where exactly she was going, so...second best option. Hop on, get as close as possible, and get off whenever Kaida did. She hated it because it mean she might over or underpay her fee, but she'd cross that bridge when she got to it, sitting not far from her friend on the train. Kaida Ikarashi |

It was down to her to debate on whether or not she was about to do the best thing for the others today- or maybe, selfishly so, for herself. It was the right thing to do, surely? Even if it meant getting herself injured, or... possibly even killed to take her family down, that way, no one but her would get hurt. She couldn't let that happen again, not after Jun. She was insecure. She thought she needed Jun for that mission- she didn't.[break][break]
If she didn't come, she wouldn't have gone medically dead, and Kenzou wouldn't have been put in a coma. It was simple. If she wasn't there, they wouldn't have been targeted, and...[break][break]
Her fist clenched so hard on the railing above her head she bent the metal, her looking up in mute surprise. Get a grip on yourself, Kaida hissed to her mind, soul and body. If you lose it now, how do you expect to fight whoever's going to be there?[break][break]
Sighing, she took her hands away from the railings, and watched as the tunnel happened upon Tokushima's city skyline, the broad expanse of the concrete jungle before her. Stepping off immediately at the first station the train stopped at, Kaida would promptly disappear into the crowd, worming her way through the abundancy of stairways and food stalls posted up. Navigating through the alleyways and going to the ocean's side on foot- that meant avoiding taxis, a surefire way to get tracked. Even if it was quite a distance to the shipyard, she would eventually make it there, pausing at the sight of it.[break][break]
It was a junkyard more than anything else, surrounded by a rusted chain-link fence that had seen better days. She had only heard about this place once or twice in the past, vaguely mentioned in articles about where "Ships go to Die", as they called it. Kaida could see why- the beach was littered with the corpses of boats, small and large, largely cut off from society as a no-go zone. It was a stretch, but she knew the freighter ship that clashed with the Inazuma wouldn't have gone past either Tokushima or Iwaki. It was too badly damaged for more than a few hours of sea travel.[break][break]
They were sure to be here, whoever they was. Hopefully her brother. She had more than a few "words" to give him. | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... There was something wrong. That wrongness scratched at Jun as she sat in her seat, staring at Kaida. There was something off. Something...wait a minute, Kaida was supposed to be at quirk therapy! The senior disclosed this to Jun after their big fight in the JSL, how she had a whole part of her quirk that wouldn't hesitate to go on a rampage if Kaida let her guard down. Why wasn't she at that? Unless... She saw the metal bend, and Jun pressed her lips together. It had to be guilt. Kaida was going to fling herself at the enemy by herself in an attempt to bring them down. Never before had Jun felt such indignation, letting out a sigh. It was also why Kaida hadn't caught on to her yet. Even more out of character for her senpai. The moment Kaida stepped off the train Jun did everything in her power to follow. It was difficult, as she was doing everything in her power to avoid being tracked, which was not great for Jun. With this newfound revelation she couldn't let Kaida go it alone, which made the journey even more difficult. Her chest throbbed with each movement, despite all the recovery and rehab she had gone through, but after following a path for as long as she could she found what Kaida was looking for: a ship graveyard. Initially Jun didn't understand why, but then it hit her. She was trying to get a look at the freighter that was stopped on their mission. But...why? No one was sure to be out here, minus some overnight workers...right? Kaida Ikarashi |

She'd often heard about the "two wolves inside of you fighting over bad and good" joke before, but despite the tomfoolery made from it, Kaida had found the underlying meaning to be quite true. A part of her longed to stay where she was, at U.A with a couple friends and ignoring her world as it crashed and burned around her, and the other part? That thing, that being, the one who hid in her heart and tugged it back to reality... it wanted nothing more than to be let out. It wanted to ask her "why bother being so ignorant", ask her "why keep your head in the clouds". It asked her why she was here today, if there was a possibility, tomorrow wouldn't be a today at all?[break][break]
It was tearing her apart. Eating her alive. There wouldn't be a today or a tomorrow if none of this was dealt with- and the storm raging inside of her was waiting on the horizon to roll over once the time came. And she knew, whatever that storm was, it was always eventually meant to pour down.[break][break]
Kaida climbed over the fence with some struggle, the sharp cut ends of metal biting into her skin but ultimately finding no purchase of blood as she landed on the other side, stalking towards her intended destination. Many ships once sailing the seas now found their deathbeds here, unburied and forgotten, rusted away or having their parts stolen for their kin. Which is exactly why she came here- the one and only possible lead she would have to finding her brother's ship, and the mysterious masked person that had stopped Katsuro from killing her, Jun and Kenzou.[break][break]
After ten minutes of searching, Kaida happened upon a service yard, her breath shortening as she ducked behind a horde of storage crates as voices suddenly neared her. A patrol of two people- above average height, in tactical gear that looked particularly worn down. They weren't military. Guerilla fighters, maybe? Or...[break][break]
Leaning out from behind her cover, the dragoness watched as the person, a man she deduced by his voice, lifted his wrist to his helmeted head and spoke words she couldn't hear. The setting sun shone on a light pattering of rain that had started which muffled his voice. Kaida clenched her fists- whatever that information was, it was useful, and too good to pass up. Internally cursing herself for her actions, she moved after them, stopping abruptly and skittering halfway down a stairwell they were passing, pressing herself against the wall.[break][break]
"... to come by... clear... affirmative. Fuujin has landed."[break][break]
She felt her blood turn cold, far colder than she was capable of. That was a callsign used by many, with mythology in Japan being as popular as ever, but she couldn't shake off the possibility of the one person she knew by that name being here. [break][break]
"All patrols... alert until Tsukuyomi arrives."[break][break]
The dragoness felt her stomach fall and her heart rise into her throat all at once. Of course... of course they would be here.[break][break]
Eventually the patrol moved on, leaving Kaida to move up and follow after him, but pause suddenly as she realised what was below her. The ground had steeply dropped off into a wide expanse, a battered cargo ship lying in the waters where the service yard parted- the cargo ship, the one her brother and his crew had used to intercept the Inazuma. She cursed under her breath as her hands laid upon the railing, icy-amber eyes taking in the people that had set upon the ship to repair it under the floodlights and armed men stalking the surrounding area like panthers. There were more people here, more than she anticipated- but she needed to know more. She needed to know why they tried to kill them.[break][break]
If she didn't, she didn't know if she would be able to do anything else. | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Seeing Kaida boldly go over the fence and brave the razor wire was something Jun was not anticipating seeing, but yet that is what had happened. And now Jun was in a pickle; she wanted to continue to trail Kaida and figure out what she was doing, but at the same time she couldn't do that. Not yet. If she did not only would she hurt herself but also draw unwanted attention. While Nightlight would certainly find a way to get through with a spectacular instance, it was time to put that persona away. Jun approached the fence, figuring out her options. She could blow a hole into it, but that would be less than ideal for the above reasons. Maybe she could pick the lock...? That couldn't be hard, right? But then again...all she had ever seen with lockpicking was how they did it in movies, and after watching a single video on the internet one time she determined she didn't have the skill to do it. Then a thought occurred to her. There was an old joke, as well as a very old movie she could replicate...but she wasn't angry enough to summon a hammer to do that. But what if... She channeled her compassion into a point in her rings, the light brilliant enough to form a shield at her feet. She closed her eyes and focused, the shield slowly rising up before ferrying her to the other side. After a moment the light would vanish, leaving her on solid ground. Fatigue took hold of her, worse than any other time she had kept a construct up for long. This seemed to correlate with the incredible throbbing pain in her chest; she'd have to look into why that was later. For now, she needed to find Kaida. The service yard seemed well-used, and the trail had gone cold after her little dilemma. She did see figures after a moment of looking, though...neither of them looked like Kaida. That's when it dawned on Jun. She can't be doing this kind of work again! Dangit, Kaida, we literally just finished with one mission! She'd quickly duck behind a crate, but failed to see the lip of a pallet jutting out, causing her to smack her shin on it. She let out a short yelp as she shifted her position behind it, heartbeat accelerating as she had just given herself away. Kaida Ikarashi |

The guards that she had been following spun around on their heels, rifles aimed towards the source of the noise, making the dragoness' breath hitch. Shit. Now she didn't have a choice but to engage with them, or it meant serving her head on a silver platter alongside whoever else had made the mistake of making themselves known. Glancing around frantically for an option to silence them, Kaida's eyes landed on a particularly heavy object.[break][break]
Swinging the manhole cover at the back of the pair's heads as they rounded the corner she was sitting by proved to be quite clearly, by the way they thumped onto the cold ground with a thud, an effective technique in knocking someone out. Setting the cover quietly onto the ground, Kaida started to march forwards with a growl on her breath to find whoever had blown her cover. Fists at the ready, she dove upon the last person she expected to see, namely one nosy second year named "Jun?"[break][break]
Immediately, the senior felt an immense amount of guilt, stumbling backwards with an uncomfortable grimace as she stared at her best friend. She had seen Jun once, and only once since the Mikurajima Incident, in the hospital where she had visited her kouhai whilst she was barely conscious. A silent reaffirmation for Kaida to remind herself what it meant to get others involved in her business. Did Jun come all this way to tell Kaida off for getting involved another scrap alone again?[break][break]
Yeah. It sounded like her.[break][break]
"How- why are you here?" Kaida asked hesitantly, almost like she was asking permission to speak in Jun's presence. Kaida didn't know what to expect, apart from the terrible 'we're through' and 'I can't be around you anymore' message she thought she was going to get. She was prepared for that, and if anything, it meant Jun would be more safe. Here, it was anything but safe. "Do you have any idea on what trouble you could get into with me here? What if you got hurt again? Jun- I can't-... you can't go through that again."[break][break]
Almost as to interrupt the purposeful conversation, the radio on the patrolmen's bodies sparked to life. "All units... has landed. Repeat, Tsukyomi has landed."[break][break]
Tsukyomi and Fuujin. It was better than Katsuro at least.[break][break]
"Please," Kaida hissed, starting to walk away from her friend. "Just stay here out of trouble. I can't have you getting caught up with me and my family again." | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Footsteps were coming closer, and Jun realized that the time for action was at hand. She had made sure her rings were fully populated, but half of her backup piercings were, unfortunately, a mess and she'd have to get them redone, and the other half needed new stones. Who knew that being struck by lightning was not good for piercings? She began to tense up her body and prepare for a fight, wondering just how bad it would be when she heard a pair of thuds beyond her hiding spot, a bad sign if she ever heard one. What lay beyond she didn't know, but she needed to have a look- The sudden tackle by another person caught Jun off guard. Normally this kind of thing wouldn't work on her, and she must really be off her game if someone got the drop on her. Channeling her fear a chain formed around her fist as she cocked it back, ready to knock out whoever was assaulting her. Or at least, that was the plan. The dim light that the construct gave off showed just enough of Kaida's features to make Jun hesitate, and the realization on her senior's face also showed recognition. She breathed a shaky sigh of relief, dismissing the chain and leaning into Kaida, reaching up to hold her chest as both the sudden stress and the pounce caused everything to ache all over again. "You know, I was wondering what the heck you were doing," she says, gripping Kaida's shoulder. "You know, if you had just waited we could have done this when I'm at a hundred percent..." she glanced at the corner at the radio call, a frown crossing her face as she let Kaida go to move over to the bodies, looking this way and that to ensure no one was around before looking to pillage one of the guards, intending to take his radio. "I should have pieced together that you were looking into your family again, and maybe it's good that I found you when I did." She'd look over at Kaida, or at least her back. Tapping into the same emotion a chain connecting Jun's arm with Kaida's ankle would manifest, the younger of the two taking a deep breath. "My weakness has gotten people killed before," she says, doing what she could to keep her voice even. "But if I stayed here, or went back to the campus, and something happened to you knowing there was something I could have done...I could not live with myself." A pause. "Whether you like it or not, you have my help." Kaida Ikarashi |

She sent a furious glance at the upperclassman, gritting her teeth, but ultimately not doing anything as one of the things she liked doing the least was arguing with one of the only friends she had. It was a miracle that Jun hadn't decided to split ways with Kaida yet, and stubbornly stuck to her like a remora to a whale. Not exactly a beneficial relationship to Jun, though.[break][break] "My weakness got you killed," Kaida snarled back, a noticeable waver in her ferocious tone. "isn't that reason enough to leave you behind?"[break][break] She looked at the chain, then back at Jun, then back again. She wasn't going to begin to ask by what Jun meant about herself killing other people over her weakness- that was a conversation for another time. There wasn't much to be done in terms of convincing- Jun was already here, and she wasn't going to leave, and her leaving possibly meant getting caught. Unfortunately, it was better for Jun to stay at Kaida's side. Sighing, Kaida hobbled to the fence once more. "Fine," she huffed. "but you don't engage if you can help it and stay out of sight. If I fight, I can handle myself. You stay out of it. Got it?"[break][break] Not waiting for an answer, she found the stairwell down to the repair yard, traversing it quietly as she could and finding a spot where she glanced out from behind a group of stacked storage containers, eyeing the guards overlooking the technicians on the ship. "I was looking into where Katsuro's ship might have landed for repairs after what happened," Kaida explained. "they should have made for the nearest warehouse considering what damage Kenzou did to their ship. I checked out a few, and this was the last one. But..." Kaida leaned out more, a hand balancing herself as she looked around. "thankfully, I don't think he's here today. Though-"[break][break] The rumble of an engine silenced her thought process, her eyes narrowing as she peered through the light shower of rain, all soldiers patrolling immediately standing at attention. She knew exactly what that meant, and frankly, it made her queasy. Her older brother, she hadn't seen since she was exiled. And the other one, not since he shot her. The echoing click of the classic Chrysler's onyx black doors opening made Kaida sit back on her heels. "Since I still know you're piecing together that board of yours, I guess I'll give you a hint to who else is sitting at the clan's head." Kaida growled.[break][break] A tall, sour looking but young black-haired man stepped out of the driver's side, pulling the collar of his trench-coat closer to his neck as he surveyed the surrounding area with a scrutinising gaze. "That's Ichiro. Head of the weapons division and the one that oversees military efforts for the clan members and supervises the illegal weapons trade—"[break][break] On the other side, a shorter but equally menacing scholar-looking type with irritation written all over his pale features and a tablet in his hand, glared at Ichiro before mouthing off on him, something Kaida couldn't hear and to which Ichiro promptly ignored. "—and that's Soma, the bookish bastard who shot me in my second year. Almost all my favourite people in one place," Kaida hissed. "what a family reunion this is going to be."[break][break] To be short, no one looked happy to be here.[break][break] "They're both my brothers." | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Kaida's words made Jun wince, especially since she related to them so well. Did Kaida's weakness stem from the same place, of lacking the mental aptitude to take a stand? Or was it having the will but not the physical strength? Either way, Jun had started on this road with Kaida, and she wasn't going to let her bear the weight alone. She'd turn the volume down on the radio as low as possible, hooking it to her pants as she stood up, taking in as deep a breath as her body allowed her. "Alright. I won't get involved." This was a lie. Jun was 100% going to get involved, especially if things got dicey. Normally she'd make a promise, but one broken promise in a lifetime was bad enough. Though she did find herself struggling to keep up with Kaida to an extent. As Kaida explained Jun tilted her head, trying to wrap her mind around all that. "I don't understand, we were out there to intercept that ship. We had at least one working vessel. What happened?" It was weird. The whole scenario, playing back what she remembered, should have been easy. But with their pro down, and Jun also subsequently going down for the count... As they ducked behind cover and Kaida began to explain the two brothers, Jun would pull the radio up and turn it up ever so slightly. She wanted to catch wind of anything the guards might be doing or saying, as there might be something important. "One of them shot you?! That's...I'm sorry." She sighed, watching the two of them move on. "So what's the plan? We just eavesdropping and gathering intel?" Kaida Ikarashi |

She replied, disturbed, and frankly frightened. "I- ...I thought they killed the both of you, but I couldn't believe it, so I asked them to help you instead of going after them." She looked Jun up and down once, something unreadable in her eyes. "Seeing that you're here now, and Kenzou might wake up from his coma, I don't regret letting them get away." [break][break]
"For now." Kaida agreed to Jun's other question, glad to switch topics and watching as Soma continued to get more and more irritated over something she couldn't discern- whatever it was, it was clearly driving him up the wall, and Ichiro wanted nothing to do with it. "I need to know why they're here if Katsuro isn't. He's supposed to be the one who escorts the weapons trade, so he clearly fucked up big time if Ichiro is here instead of him. He probably got called back home by my mother to be taught a lesson..." Kaida dragged a hand down her face, an expression of hate, but remorse on her troubled features. Even if Katsuro was a killer with bloodshed written in his bones, each child in the main family had been emotionally manipulated to be a weapon. "At least, in the beginning, none of us had any options but to be weapons. He might be getting tortured as we speak."[break][break]
It pained her to think what she might have become if she stayed. Likely no better than the others.[break][break]
"But that's out of our hands. He deserves it, anyway," The dragoness added on bitterly.[break][break]
A few of the soldiers saluted as Ichiro walked past, not acknowledging them as he stopped suddenly in front of a technicians' diagnostics workbench and Soma bumped into him. "Watch it," Soma hissed venomously. [break][break]
Continuing to ignore him, Ichiro looked down upon the mechanic. "Report."[break][break]
"Repairs are coming along steadily, sir," the mechanic replied evenly as she handed Ichiro a tablet. "though perhaps not as quickly as we might hope. With the foot soldiers spread thin out guarding the area, and the rest at Takamagahara I can only spare so much manpower repairing the ship, and the council's routine checkup of the shipyard is in a week. I can try and short out costs if we set up a closer perimeter, but whilst the engine and the hydraulics were repaired, we still need to patch up the hole and repaint the ship to avoid anyone recognising it, which would take even more time-"[break][break]
Ichiro glanced up at the container ship. "How long of an estimate is it?"[break][break]
"Unfortunately, about thirteen days, sir."[break][break]
He doesn't look happy. "That's not enough time."[break][break]
"... It isn't."[break][break]
There's a long, uncomfortable silence as Ichiro stared the ship down with an unreadable gaze. "They'll find us before we even start spraying." He murmured, looking to Soma, who glared back at him. "... There's no time for the rest of this. Withdraw all the workers and tell them to start packing up the armaments we have here, including the ones in the ship. We need to be out of here in a couple days."[break][break]
"What, just like that? After everything we paid for?" Soma scoffed. "Mother won't be pleased."[break][break]
"We'll send what we have left to Takamagahara," Ichiro replied, making Kaida perk with interest and inch closer, crouching behind a few storage crates. Takamagahara. Where could that be, and what were they holding there? "Mother will understand. She already knew we had a short window here, and she won't be complaining about extra defense up in the castle considering what we're guarding."[break][break]
"Fine," Soma grumped. "Guess I'll be the one facing her wrath since I'm her favourite, right?"[break][break]
Ichiro didn't respond as he turned around and stalked towards the tent to Kaida's right, leaving her to hitch her breath in fear as her brother walked straight past her hiding spot, lifting the tent's flap door as they both walked inside. "How is she coming along, by the way?"[break][break]

"She?" Kaida whispered in confusion. | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun frowned at Kaida's explanation of what might be happening with her brother. Sure, he did technically kill her, but the way Kaida talked made him out to be running on instincts. It wasn't his fault that he turned out that way, it was the family as a whole. Heck, it was probably why Kaida was the way she was. Would I have turned out differently, too, if I was in the same environment that Kaida was in? she thinks, peeking ever so slightly from behind cover to look on with her friend. The report was both something Jun thought she could solve, and also not. There were some details that were still hazy, but she couldn't remember putting a hole in the ship. They were clearly looking to abandon it to its fate, which made Jun a little sad as she would have loved to send it to the bottom of the bay in order to prevent its use in the future. Weapons, however...she remembered the last briefing and how this was a smuggling operation. It only made sense there was cargo that they cared about. The question was, how did they deal with it? As she pondered this conundrum, she glanced over at Kaida and tilted her head. She didn't catch the last thing that the brothers were talking about, but the time for action was coming upon them. Leaning forward, she'd whisper, "We need to do something about the weapons on that ship. If there's a hole, we can potentially flood the drydock and force it on its side. Maybe, maybe that will delay them enough to the point they can't recover anything. I don't know what clock they're running against, but any further delay can put a massive dent in their plans." Whilst she too wanted to do something about the weapons Soma and Katsuro had gotten their hands on, which would eventually go to the hands of the clan, it all felt incredibly risky. She did feel as though, perhaps with Jun's help, they could both take her brothers on successfully- but with backup being possibly called, Kaida was uncertain. "I don't know," She replied, obvious strain in her tone. "There's more mechanics than guards here, but they're still armed. I aimed to get information, but I'm not afraid to fight them, either... as much as I hate to admit it, maybe we should call the authorities about this-"[break][break]
She really didn't want to. The police and Public Security sticking their noses into her family's business was the last thing she wanted, and Kaida would have liked to keep everything to herself. But the risk of being seen, or caught, meant that likely no one would know where they would go next. No hope of rescue. As she was about to announce that they would be retreating and that Kaida would likely send an anonymous tip to the men in blue, Soma's voice rose from within the tent.[break][break]
"Look, I know you want her on the field as soon as possible, but quirks take time to develop, Ichiro. Especially one like hers. I can't just snap my fingers, expect her to miraculously conjure the dead and defy science, and be done with it!"[break][break]
"I don't expect you to do anything like that," Ichiro replies evenly in his monotonous voice, but his words suggest a sharp edge to them. The air is thick with tension, and it's obvious they don't get along. Kaida would hesitate to imagine what it would be like if Katsuro was here instead; the twins could take down a small country's government overnight without anyone noticing with how they blended into each other. "but I do expect results, ideal ones. If we don't, we're bringing the clan's future to a bottleneck with no way out. We need to stay one step ahead of them, firstmost and always."[break][break]
She, her. The talk of a new person and with it the involvement of quirks left a horrid taste in Kaida's mouth. Was "she" a person they had captured and forced to do illegal work under their name, or something worse? As she skipped to the side of the tent to lean against its walls, Soma grew louder.[break][break]
"We need time, but we don't have it!" Soma snapped, his anger not directed at Ichiro, but more with frustration at everything as his shadow paced around the tent. "Especially with that flaming bastard breathing down our necks. Katsuro should have killed that nuisance while he had the chance for all the trouble he's given us." The dragoness' breath hitched. Was he talking about Kenzou? Was he further involved in this, too? "At least with this new weapon, maybe we'll figure out where he next pops up."[break][break]
"Our sister is not an object, Soma. Young Koharu must be treated with respect. She is one of us, after all."[break][break]
Kaida could have sworn she heard the light patter of rain upon the tent's tarp only moments ago, along with her brother's voices that faded into her background. Her stature upon the ground, her boots scraping on the wet pavement, confirmed she was here. But her breath stilled. [break][break]
Why was everything so still?[break][break]
But her heart wasn't. It was the only thing she could hear, her blood roaring in her ears and her heart slamming itself against her chest, Kaida decided she felt anything but still. Koharu. Young Koharu. She had another sister.[break][break]
Kaida had another sister, and she was being treated as a weapon. Like she was, all those years ago.[break][break]
She moved before she even realised it, and Kaida could only watch as her hands ripped open the tent's flap door so harshly she ripped them from its material, mirroring the absolute dread, fear, rage and fear she felt in that single, defining moment. Kaida barely saw Ichiro stand from his chair in alarm, or Soma whip around to face her with an intense, uneasy look on his features. She did not hear anything they said. She only heard her own voice. [break][break]

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... "Well, we have to do something," she says, shifting a little to better look at Kaida. "The police was something I was going to suggest, but that could be dangerous. Granted, my plan is no safer, but..." It made perfect sense in her head. Sure, there were a lot of innocent people but...okay, her plan wasn't foolproof. But it was possible that, if they waited a bit of time, everyone would clear out, and they could take over the controls and open the gates. Drydocks like these had warnings to let people know that they were opening, right? Surely anyone with a brain would run out of there and not bother with the weapons on board. The more she ran through the procedure the more she felt confident; blow a hole further down on the ship, ensure she took water, maybe as the gates are opening. Smash the controls so that the process can't be reversed. And Kaida could be convincing enough for the head engineer, who was still hanging around. Yeah...yeah, that could work! She turned to get hold of Kaida, convincing herself that the plan would work, but had for the most part zoned out. Instead of finding her friend she found a blur that was heading for the tent. "Kaida!" She whispered out, reaching to grab hold of her and yank her back into cover but it was too late. Her next words caught her off guard, and now she was stuck, not knowing what to do. She was met with a choice: did she help Kaida, or did she follow through with her plan? She was still undiscovered...but if she abandoned Kaida now there was no telling what either of them would do to her. Jun grit her teeth, getting up to follow through with at least something. Sorry, Kaida, she thinks, sneaking her way in a rare moment there was no guard coverage to the head engineer, intending to put him in an armbar. "Make a sound, I snap it off," she says, her body beginning to fight her as she did what she could to take control of the situation. "Open the gates." Kaida Ikarashi |

It's clear to Kaida in that small instance no one really knows what to do out of fear of what might happen next, out of fear of stepping accidentally on the dragon's tail and igniting its unfathomable rage, something both Soma and Ichiro had witnessed firsthand. But Kaida, she hardly cares about them.[break][break] She just wants to know the truth.[break][break] "Answer me," Kaida snarled harshly. "before I send you both back to the Ice Age."[break][break] Whilst Ichiro continues to glare at her wordlessly, he keeps his mouth shut to not reveal any words that might land him beside Katsuro, and Soma is stiff as a board as he gets his emotions in check with little to no effort. "Kaida," he replied smarmily, clasping his hands together. "what a wonderful surprise to have you show up here."[break][break] Out of the corner of her eye, the dragoness spied uncertainty in Ichiro's gaze, an emotion so out of place for her brother she only caught it despite the hairs tingling on her spine being in the presence of Soma once more. She was watching his every move rather than Ichiro's, waiting for that itchy trigger-finger of his to show itself and plummet her into the nothingness she had almost called death back in her second year. But he does nothing but stall for time to figure out a plan of action against her. [break][break] "That eager to get back into the family if you're so distraught about being replaced?" Soma adds on as he looked Kaida up and down, who was struggling to keep her temper under control with icy breaths exhaling from her mouth and heaving shoulders. "You should have spoken up sooner. Then again, I don't think Katsuro would agree very merrily with you being there again... nor would anyone else."[break][break] "I hardly care about what any of you think of me," Kaida retorted. "I only care about the fact that there's another one of us. A sibling. Why? What were they thinking?"[break][break] "I presume they were thinking about how disloyal you were getting, dear sister. How Kasumi, Mother and Father had to worry about your every step, your every thought. We grew tired of you, so someone better took your place."[break][break] Kaida couldn't ignore the pang of hurt she felt, then the immense confusion at the sudden emotion. Was she feeling left out? Of this? "A child has no place in this family," Kaida snarled. "think of the torture we went through to grow up! Do you want her to turn out like us? To have no view on this world but that of suffering?"[break][break] "We all have our ways of getting what we want." Soma sighed, the tone of his voice dark and insidious. "and some of us prefer... more enforcing methods."[break][break] Soma was suddenly flung out of her vision— or rather, she was flung from the tent, only a quick moment passing to register what on earth had hit her. Ichiro had launched himself at her, a flash of red in his normally dark eyes. Did he transform? That was bad news. Very bad. So bad she could equate it to herself transforming whilst under rage. The dragoness tucked and rolled as she hit the pavement, the concrete peeling at her skin as she skidded to a stop, glancing upwards as her elder brother landed gracefully in front of her, Devil transformation on display. Dark, feathered wings, sharp fangs and crimson eyes. A mirror image of her own demon.[break][break] A sudden gust of wind rushed towards the head engineer who was sweating to the bone under Jun's grasp, knocking him down but giving him a chance to wrangle himself from the upperclassman's grasp, running towards Soma who hopped from the tent to perch beside Ichiro, an air current on his fingertips. "Call them." He said to the engineer, who nodded before sprinting away.[break][break] Standing, Kaida barely registered her bleeding forearms as she brought her clenched fists to her cheeks, already resigning herself to a fight. "So that's how it's going to be, then." She whispered. Whoever that engineer was going to call, it didn't matter. They needed to finish this before they were resigned to the same fate as they had been before at the Mikurajima Incident. "You two... surely you know what it's like to be us, not knowing if death is around the corner. I can't have that happen again— and certainly not to someone else just as innocent as we were." Her eyes, despite the sheer anger and fire within them, held an icy calm as she decided on her target; her elder brother.[break][break] "Tell me. Where is my sister?"
