"Ah, it seems a little busy." Rin noted, glancing around at the crowd of customers scattered about into their own groups. Vikings were a trend a trend that had been going strong here in Japan for quite a long time now, but the brunette had never been to one. Why it was called that she had no idea, but the buffet setup was a lot different than the sushi focused ones she was familiar with. Long tables with everything laid out, customers getting what they want as they wanted, and a flat entry fee that let you eat as much as you wanted?

She wasn't that big of an eater but it sounded nice not having to worry about breaking the bank on an extra piece of sushi.

Wearing a black and blue dress with long sleeves, bag slung over one shoulder and a big puffy black hat on top of her head, Rin glanced at Emi and offered what she hoped was a friendly if very muted smile. "Have you been here before, Emi-san?"

While listening to Emi's response if she gave one, Rin fished out payment for herself. If for whatever reason Emi couldn't pay for herself Rin would be quick to offer to cover it for her, but she wasn't going to offer it out of the blue - that was a whole mess of social navigation that Rin wasn't up for if she could avoid it. Better to just get in, get food, and chat about... things that were fun to chat about!

This was so exciting! Emi felt like since they had enrolled at UAU that it was non-stop trouble that she had into. Whether it was from the entrance exam, being shot, going off on a patrol, and getting into trouble it was just nice to do something normal for a change! "I haven't no but look at all the variety they have!" she was basically drooling as she said this, scanning the entire place and looking at all of the options eager to dig in. She was wearing a green T-shirt, shorts and had a small bag in which she kept her wallet and other important things. Looking at Rin she felt like she could have dressed a little nicer but there was no changing now. She would pay after Rin did so noticing that she didn't put away her card at first and was wondering if she was offering to pay. Customs in Japan were still a mystery to her at times and Rin even with her timid nature clearly knew how to navigate this world more than she did. She could appreciate her roommate's attempts to get closer they hadn't spent much time together without Freja. She did feel bad about leaving her out but it would be nice to get to know Rin! "So...where do you wanna sit?" personally the closer to the food the better but Emi didn't want to freak Rin out with how much she could actually eat in one sitting.

"They do have a lot." Rin agreed, and she caught the glance Emi gave her and wondered if she had overdressed. This was just a casual outfit to her, the kind of thing she liked to wear, and she thought Emi's choice of clothing was perfectly fine. But now she was wondering if she had accidentally made the other girl feel shown up, when she was trying to befriend her. The question about where to sit snapped her out of her thoughts and Rin briefly went slightly wide-eyed as she glanced between the options. "Ah... How about..." She trailed off, trying to think about what the best option would be. She didn't want to be near a lot of people, but all the spots in the coziest out of the way parts were already taken. The only other options were near the main walkways near the bathrooms or the front, and near the food. Heading off towards that last option, Rin glanced at Emi with a nervous smile and gave the back of the booth a light pat with her hand as if to claim it. "Would... Would here be alright?"

It was pretty much as close to the food as you could get, but it was slightly off to the side from the main funnel of people going back and forth.

Assuming Emi approved, Rin was going to stay by the booth and offer a quick "You load up first, and then I'll go?" as a way to make sure nobody sniped their booth out from under them. If Emi wanted a different seat though, or for Rin to go get her food first, the brunette wouldn't argue at all and go along with the other girl's preferences. If she did end up getting food first, Rin was going to select a pretty modest first plate - some fish, rice, and pickled veggies on the side.
