Thanks to the modern miracles of medicine and Quirks the bullet wounds the two had suffered were practically a thing of the past at this point. what wasn't a thing of the past though was the organization that was still using animals to fight each other for entertainment. It was something that neither Zen nor Thea would allow to continue to exist. So the monster and the mentat signed up for yet another patrol, suspiciously specific to only them and completely ordinary to anyone else.

"I'm guessing...And Hoping that we're going after the head honchos now and not just freeing the adorable little puppies. Not that I don't mind that but it won't stop until we cut the head off...Or however that saying goes." The titan craned his head down to look at his partner and couldn't help but think about yesterday. She had pushed her quirk to the absolute limit and had suffered for it and here she was the next day ready to go at it again. She was a fucking hero, she did what needed to be done to make sure those who could not stand up for themselves were protected. Zen felt a twinge of guilt comparing himself to her, he was just here to vibe through four years until he took over his grandfather's business. Thea was amazing, He was pathetic. Of course the golden boi would never actually tell Thea any of this, he had learned that her Tsundere ass didn't take compliments well, and he was sworn to secrecy so he'd keep his thoughts to himself. It was better that way anyway, he didn't do deprication.

"Anyway before we head out, I figured we could indulge in some good luck cheesesteaks" The monkey king chuckled as he pulled out two cheese steaks from his food pouch, handing his friend one as they walked through the shifty streets of Shinjuku. "we can't lose after we eat these things. Mainly cuz we make an amazing team but I'm sure the cheese steaks help in some way"

While she was certainly better in a physical sense, mentally, she was still dealing with the consequences of her actions. To erase a memory, she had to take it. To take it, she had to live it. Over and over again, this was what she did. Over and over again, she buried the weight of it, knowing one day she would buckle under the pressure like a carbon fiber submarine.[break][break]

She took the Cheesesteak with both hands, awkwardly fidgeting her grip to avoid getting any grease on her hands. "Do you just, like, always carry cheese steaks on you?" [break][break]

The titan seemed inured to the world around them. While Thea was taken out of commission by her own quirk and a single gunshot wound, the titan not only took two shots but seemed completely unphased by it as they risked taking more during the fight. They had the making of a hero, impervious and unyielding. It was all Thea could do to keep up as she pretended to have a measure of their determination worth.[break][break]

"Yeah, I got some of their locations. Not sure if this is their HQ or whatever, but. Ugh, it's a lot to explain," Thea stuck her hand out palm side up, "It's just easier if I give you the information. I promise I won't take anything or fuck with your head. The offer of Thea's hand to exchange the information was taken without a second thought. The sapphire-eyed titan knew exactly what her quirk did and just how easily he could enter his mind with it but he trusted her, he knew she wouldn't do anything he didn't want her too. Maybe before their last patrol together she would have but at this point they were...Friends? It was a weird thought to think that Thea was an actual friend. Not like how he called everyone his friend but like an actual friend, someone he trusted. It was weird to think about, he'd been friendly with the monks back in China and considered them his friends but it felt different with Thea for some reason. It was nice but it also made him uneasy.

"So what's the plan Thay-bae? we going in sneaky or hitting them hard? If we're going in hard at least try and stay behind me this time so you don't get shot. Honestly, we should probably think about getting you a bullet proof vest at some point right? Or maybe a gun of your own. The fact that she hadn't noticed it before spoke volumes to the tailor's skill and the garment's price. Thea looked down at her costume, if one could even call it that. More than anything, she looked like she'd just stepped out to the gym. She liked it that way, it didn't draw attention, which helped her get around a lot.[break][break]

The next statement, she did not take too kindly. "Her fucking name's Miroru, not milk toast," she said, anger tainting her otherwise neutral tone. "Her fucking deal is she just wanted to do something cool, but you pulled your ironic bullshit, and instead, she thought she looked like a jerk. Give me a break. You are so fucking dense. Just as swiftly as it started, she reeled in her outburst and returned to the task at hand, focusing her mind solely on the information she wished for Zenkai to have and nothing more. As soon as the Titan touched her hand, intimate knowledge of locations became part of his awareness, along with rough information about who was stationed where and what armaments they carried. It took only a fraction of a second to complete, and the mentat pulled her hand away as soon as it was done.[break][break]

"Thay-bae is a stupid name. Don't call me that," she retorted "I'm better with quiet, but I think you're probably better with loud. I guess we play it by ear?" She rubbed her arm where the bullet struck her on their last patrol. Her mind raced to all the ways it could have landed that would have been fatal. "Yeah, I'll get something at some point. It's not like I'm gonna be in the thick of it. I'm like, intell and shit, ya know? Besides, I don't really care much for guns."[break][break]

The information transfer was...Odd to say the least. At first he didn't know anything about the criminal's hide out and a second later he knew all of it, without having to learn a single thing. "So...You pay attention in class right?" The golden boi grinned at the prospect of never having to study again. Thea's plan was sound though as far as Zen was concerned. They were used to flying by the seat of their pants so playing it by ear seemed to make the most sense. "I can be quiet but the minute someone figures us out I get very, very loud."

As the two of them walked towards their destination Zenkai couldn't help but ask his closest friends about their newest love interest. That's what friends were supposed to do right? "Soooooo...How long have you two been dating?~" Regardless of Thea's poor choice in romantic partners, Zenkai wanted to be supportive, since that's what friends apparently did "How did you two meeeeeeet~" Zenkai continued in his usual sing song tone "Have ya held hands yet?" Yeah...Zen was going to torture the shit out of her for the next twenty minutes.

"I tutor too, but it'll cost ya." She didn't tutor at all. There was no reason for her to care about what anyone else wanted and even less reason to care for what they could give her. If she wanted something, she'd just take it. Besides, most of UAU was riding the high horse of "hard work" and for all it was worth. [break][break]


As they approached their destination, Zen kept peppering Thea with questions. She wanted to scream, but having already lost her temper once, the mentat was unwilling to lose it again and risk doing something they would both regret. Instead, she diluted her presence in memory. Her mind wandering as they walked.[break][break]

"We're not dating." It was true. There were no dates between them, nothing that either could point at and claim as definitive proof of a relationship.[break][break]

"Quirk demonstration." Thea had gone there to scope out the student body and find a few easy targets for her to take memories from. She had no intention of displaying her quirk and even less intention of making a friend. If it hadn't been for Miroru's insistence, Thea would have never spoken to her. If it hadn't been for Thea's addiction, they'd of never connected.[break][break]

"We," She paused. Her mind returning to the present in as much as she would allow it. They never have. They'd held each other, or more specifically, Thea was the one who'd been held. She looked down at the palms of her hands. Of course, Zenkai didn't know, she didn't tell them. "We can't," she breathed deeply before letting out a short sigh, "I can't turn this off." Her touch invaded the mind of others, bending their will like paydough. Every stray thought was like a knife. An intrusive thought could be the death of someone's mind. "I can only use these for work."[break][break]

They walked. Time for the mentat passed strangely. Her sense of "now" ebbed and flowed with the weight of memories she flooded her senses with. She pushed back thoughts of Miroru as they rose. Thea couldn't afford to be any more distracted than she already was.

"Looks like we're here," she gestured with her head at a rather unassuming warehouse. Trucks lined the back of the building, and a handful of employees were carrying in crates of varying size. "Sedated animals." She whispered the titan. "I'll walk up and see what I can get."[break][break]

She blinked, and her whole demeanor changed. The sedated and disconnected person that thea was, wholly replaced with a far more energetic persona. To say she was acting was an understatement. Her awareness was now painted with the presence of another soul, a fragment of memory called to the front of her mind not as a hallucination but as ego to which she now acted as id. "Alright! Wish me luck, Zenny~" [break][break]

She walked up to a group of guys who were taking a small respite by one of the bay entrances. "Heeeey, you guys." She waved. "I'm lost. Can you help me find where I am." She intended to lower their guard. if they let her close enough, she won.[break][break]

The titan was going to call bullshit on the part of his friend's denials. Regardless of what she said he was pretty sure the two of them were dating, even if they weren't going to acknowledge it. Though it was rather heart breaking to hear that she couldn't hold hands with anyone. He didn't realize her quirk was always active, man that must be a pain in the ass. "That's rough buddy...Even though I wasn't talking about hands." The golden boi grinned slightly "It's so cute when you act all innocent." Yeah...at this rate he was going to get the shit kicked out of him.

Zenkai immediately regretted his words as Thea seemingly was possessed by a MUCH more cheerful and cutesie demeanor which sent a chill down his spin and a cringe on his face. If he never saw that look again it would be far too soon. He understood the necessity of the disguise so that they could sneak in and NOT end up with bullet wounds like they did last time. Zen didn't mind being relegated to a secondary role. They were pretty content to sit back and relax while Thea did all the heavy lifting.

It was all too easy. She'd barely made it halfway to the group of men, and already two of them stood up and walked right up to her. She laughed at just how easily people trusted. Or she would have if it weren't for the innocent smile she wore like a mask. "My GPS just doesn't work here," she said, presenting one of the men with her phone. As he took it, she touched the side of his hand, altering his mind and intentions. Immediately, he began typing away at the phone, filling the already opened notes app with names. His friend looked over, curious as to what he could be typing, only to find the mentat grabbing his face. Her mind invaded his and filled it with a simple command. "let us in"[break][break]

She turned back to the titan who was hidden and waved them down. "Come on, we're good." she said as she turned to follow the one who was now making his way back toward the building. [break][break]

"Looks like we've got VIP access," She said to the titan once the caught up. "My friend here is gonna get us some uniforms too. We'll blend right in." She paused to look over the titan once more. "Or, at least, I will"[break][break]

It was pretty weird how she could just become a completely different person at the snap of a finger, especially one so different from her usual self. Of course, they was going to annoy the shit out of her for it later. If Zen knew Thea and they were pretty sure they did at least a bit, then she DEFINITELY hated acting like that. Still, thanks to her plan they would probably be able to get inside the building without any trouble.

The titan grinned as Thea did her thing, controlling the guard outside to let them inside. Zen quickly jogged over to the pair, grinning down at their partner as she explained that they now had VIP access to the building, AND they would be getting uniforms...well, SHE would be getting a uniform, Zen was probably too big to fit into any of them, which would be fine for the time being. It just meant that the mentat would have to take the lead to make sure that the coast was clear before he came strolling through.

"So...Like...Should we totally get Mani-Peti's after this?" Zenkai grinned as he mimicked Thea's cheerier personality as the two entered the facility, following the mind-washed guard. "Oh-Em-Gee! Then we can like totally spill the tea about the people we have a crush on! Or are currently dating and in denial about!" They were definitely starting to see why Thea chose the persona, it was pretty fun to talk like this. "Don't worry, we'll def have Mimosas too! Like it'll be totes cray " Man, She was never going to escape his torment now.
