| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Miroru was a joy to be around. Smart, confident, and offset some of Jun's worst qualities. Unfortunately, Jun was also the senpai in this situation, so she couldn't let her guard down too often. She had to be tough, strong, and not socially awkward, the last one almost impossible to do as she had little experience with social situations. It was rough. Today was one of the days she set aside to help train her team for the Newbie Games (not her idea for a name), and specifically to help train each person individually. Miroru was going to be the first one, mostly because she was more approachable but also because she had a well-defined quirk that was almost limitless. She needed to know more about it in order to understand how it worked, and how to also deploy Miroru on the field. More than likely she was going to be the ace, but Jun wouldn't know for sure until she tried for herself... She'd shoot the fox a message to meet her on Ground Beta, deciding for once to wear her hero uniform. Not to mention hyping herself up to be the bad guy for once. Miroru |

The foxtailed girl rather enjoyed Jun's company as well, her own opinion uncomplicated by matters of seniority and responsibility. The other redhead stood to her as someone to aspire towards, knowing the other girl had experienced more of what the school had to offer and had taken it upon herself to share what she could with the younger year students.
For instance, Miroru herself!
Today, as the head of their side of the improvement games, Jun had called her to show up on Ground Beta, which she did- unaware of Jun's decision to show up in full kit! Miroru made her appearance in her tracksuit, with athletic bandages wrapped most of the way from wrist to elbow.
Now looking as assured and prepared as she ever did- and feeling as unsure of herself as she ever did, the veneer of self-confidence armor against feeling exposed for her own insecurities- Miroru called out as she approached. "Junsuina-senpai! What's on the agenda today? Got something good for us?"
I can pay no price too great for justice.

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... A smile spread out over Jun's face, waving at Miroru as she straightened herself out, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. "Hey! I actually have a simple plan for today, believe it or not." She spread her arms out, beginning to indicate all of the fake city around them. "I took a little time making some cardboard cutouts and stowing them in various parts of the buildings around us. You have a unique quirk, and one that I don't fully understand, but I've gathered that it's one that can counter mine with how it works." She began to pace down the street, setting her hands on her hips. "The whole plan behind this whole game thing is to prepare us for this...the real world. Protecting people, businesses, the public trust...all of that. I don't think I'm ready to introduce the others to this sort of scenario, at least not yet, but I think I can with you." Jun always did her best to immerse herself in whatever scenario she found herself in, try to put herself in the hero's shoes. "So...today I'm going to be a rampaging villain. Every cutout is a person, every building destroyed and every cutout damaged is a negative mark. Think you can stand up to me and stop my rampage?" She turned back, beginning to tap into her latent emotions. Most of them were fairly dormant at this time, but fear stuck out a little more than the others. Her rings glowed, and translucent chains began to fly out from her, threatening to swat Miroru aside as they began to smash into the sides of buildings, lightposts, the street, anything and everything around her. "Hm! Cardboard's fragile enough to show marks from relatively minor incidents, which hilariously makes it great for simulating human fragility. Clever!" Miroru nodded approvingly, chewing on her lower lip as she thought things over. She wouldn't be able to detect cardboard easily, as it would match ambient object temperatures, meaning she would have to try to stop all attacks, not just ones she knew were threatening civilians. She found herself scowling faintly at the idea of being deployed to protect big business interests, but it smoothed as she reminded herself that people relied on those places for work, and smaller mom and pop places existed too. "I mean, you could totally throw all this at Sinclaire," she added drily. "As long as you don't expect him to CARE."
Miroru reeled backwards in shock as Jun unleashed her chains and sent them flailing into everything nearby, overwhelmed for a second by the sheer destructive power Jun had on tap! In an instant, Jun had torn apart storefronts and launched attacks towards her as well!
Miroru hurled herself to the side, dust spitting in all directions as her boots gushed air, shoving her up into the air with every step as she ran up and out of the way of the chain, buying herself an instant to think. Spotting one chain smashing its way towards a cafe storefront, she threw a hand out and wrapped her quirk around the last link, turning it a shimmering, iridescent hue! Yanking her hand back, she pulled the chain away from its target and up into the air, aiming to limit its damage by removing most targets from its range of motion!
Inspired, she sprinted towards the air above Jun, the end link of each chain flaring and rushing upwards towards Miroru as she leapt to grab onto the knot of chains she planned to make- all the better to drain the light out of them and feed her own quirk!

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun had given in to her emotions many times before, and she had to maintain a level of focus to not become totally lost. Each attack was calculated in an effort to cause the maximum amount of damage possible. For the most part, she was successful, sans slapping Miroru into next week. But that was fine, she was being tested. Which is why she was amazed that Miroru was capable of manipulating her constructs like she could. Jun had control over every aspect of her constructs, to where they were place to how they behaved. It was why, in some situations, they operated more like giant tentacles or snakes or something slithery like that. Miroru blunting her assault like she was doing was...well, it was smart. But knowing that the girl could possibly rendering them inert meant that Jun had to act fast, and before Miroru could completely drain them of their power roughly a foot of each chain would lose its form, the kitsune losing hold of the constructs. "Not bad, hero," she called out, the chains coming back and effectively giving Jun multiple arms. "But you're not my main target." With a brutal swing she'd send a trio of chains into the building behind her, giving a slight exit from which she could work with. And like a fictional octoman she'd begin to stalk through the opening, intending to do chaos elsewhere. Miroru |

Miroru gawked in surprise as Jun discorporated her own constructs, missing half a step and stumbling mid-air, forced to drop and catch herself a foot or two lower than she'd been before!
Scrambling to make up distance and leverage, Miroru sprung into another sprint, chasing after Jun as she smashed her way through a building without hardly a second thought, yelling after her. "Not your main tar- aw, HELL, you SAID you were RAMPAGING! HALT!" Miroru castigated herself as Jun blasted her way forwards, thinking fast. She couldn't reliably steal control of Jun's constructs, cuz it was HER quirk that kept them solid. Miroru couldn't manage that. Her mind raced. What could she do? Block out the light to blind her? Send over illusions to distract her? Go full-blown Gordian Knot and blast her in the-
Wait.
Jun marched her way forwards through the opening, and the moment she extended those nasty chains towards another target-
- the links slammed into a barrier- a wall that simply refused to let the light pass in that direction. From the other side- if she pushed past and looked back herself- the barrier was a dead black wall, but from the side with the light, it was perfectly see-through. Miroru's quirk, focused to stop light moving past that plane in one direction. Easy for Jun to move past, but far, far more difficult for her to get any constructs past! Moving past and recreating didn't do her much good either, as Miroru just kept moving the blockades where Jun tried to send the chains, doing her best to protect everything around! After all, it was only straining when Jun actually pushed at the barriers and she had to actually exert her quirk to stop something more energetic than ambient light levels- placing those barriers took little more than thought!
"Listen here, Lightshow, you've had your fun! I'm-" She took a deep breath and raised her voice louder, firmer. "I'm doing my best to play nice, but you're not going to get to hurt anyone else on my watch! Release your constructs and surrender- this is your only warning! Failure to comply will result in immediate action!"

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun didn't know what to expect out of Miroru, but the barrier definitely threw her for a loop. A "leg" would try to push forward to keep her locomotion going, only to be stopped dead in its tracks. There was a slight shimmer, and every time Jun attempted to move beyond that point she was met with resistance. Which was odd since if she reached out with her hand she could move through. Except... Something to do with light. Her hand seemingly disappeared, as the light reflecting from it wouldn't be reflected from the time of the barrier's creation. "Fine," she says, letting the chains dissipate as she started to give in to her own anger. She would turn around, beginning to stalk towards Miroru. "Then I'll have to kill you to kill everyone else." Despite rehearsing that in her head, she stated it much more candid than she anticipated, giving it a cold tone that she didn't intend to give it. Her rings would flicker, two pinpricks of light forming at her sides as almost soon after a pair of hammers would fly at high speeds towards Miroru, a third beginning to form in her hands as she pushed off her back foot. If she timed it right, she would have had just enough time to deal with the hammers before Jun was on top of her, fully intent to bring the hammer's face down on top of Miroru's head. Miroru |

The petite fox raised her head high and clearly stated-
"Exactly. You go through ME first. But you might wanna pick up the pace-"
Miroru's eyes stained black as Jun watched- a literal trick of the light, merely the creepiest place to start the effect to follow- before bleeding out over the rest of her body, rendering her nothing more than a dead black silhouette without even a hint of light escaping from her.
"-before I get done going through YOU."
Rather than shying away, this pitch-black Miroru- just a touch bigger than she had been a moment ago, due to the field blocking light from reaching her body expanding a bit past her body to try to keep the solid components of the hardlight constructs from hitting her body- ran at Jun, too, ignoring the incoming hammers completely! Was she blind? Could she not see-
The answer became extremely clear as the hammers ran into that black field and dissipated entirely, the dust comprising their matrices twinkling in the air behind Miroru as she ran at Jun, their light simply- gone, trapped inside the dark armor Miroru was clad in- right up until Jun brought that hammer down, and Miroru threw a hand up to meet it in what looked like it was sure to be an unfortunately ineffectua-
The light stolen from the first two hammers blazed upwards in a streak of pilfered power, likely smashing the hammer back the way it came and with any luck opening a hole in Jun's defenses for Miroru to burst through and bring something back to mind.
Miroru didn't view her quirk as useful for active suppression of villainous activities. She viewed it as either drastic overkill or pure utility. How exactly had she planned to stop and subdue villains prior to this?
Hand to hand.
With the distance closed, Miroru threw herself into a flurry of close quartes techniques cribbed from all manner of martial arts styles, each selected for being useful for subduing or knocking out a foe in short order! Jun's own martial arts skills were solid, but despite being a first year, Miroru's own had just a touch more refinement- not enough to cinch the fight on its own, but notable! Jun wasn't likely to be caught entirely off guard, but Miroru's close-up agility was something else entirely, and where the petite fox wasn't likely to be able to keep up if Jun turned tail and ran- she'd seen Miroru run, and she was quick, but slower than Jun was- the other redhead was stronger, quicker up close, and had clearly made this a cornerstone of her capture tactics!
Worse, the dark-mode Miroru had what looked like claws extending from her hands that she kept flinging out to rake through any constructs Jun tried to make within reach of the shadow demon descended upon her, devouring their light and tearing them to pieces! The claws did absolutely nothing to Jun herself- due to not being constructed out of light, thankfully!- but staying up close with the tiny fox was clearly not a workable solution towards winning this challenge!
"STAND. DOWN! You've threatened lives, and you've had your only warning, Lightshow!"

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The initial hammers disappeared into the darkness that became Miroru, and while Jun witnessed this she didn't fully process that her own power was being used against her. At least, not until the beam of light sprang forth and completely ruined her strike and, by extension, her momentum. There she was, now stuck between a rock and a hard place and things were getting worse as the fight had now devolved into a bout of fisticuffs. It was something like this Jun had done some training for, as she knew due to her physical stature she wouldn't be able to stand up to a hardier opponent, but this was hard. Any attempt Miroru made to grapple Jun would be broken, and some of the more harmful punches or kicks Jun would be able to predict and either block or avoid, but the one thing she relied on more was her quirk. And every blunt object, chain, or even shield she tried to make in order to tip the scales to her advantage was swatted away through those claws. This was not ideal. Sure, Jun had a slight edge in speed and awareness, but she had no sure way to end the fight. Unless... Jun grabbed one of the anchors on her belt, ducking under one of Miroru's kicks while flinging it up. The intent was to trap her leg in an attempt to gain some control of the situation; if Jun let the fight play out longer and longer it was likely Miroru would win via attrition alone. She couldn't have that. Once secured she'd trigger the reel function, intending to draw her leg to Jun's side and swung up, intending to show the fox that she wasn't going to go down. At least, that was the plan. Miroru |

The ploy was clever and worked a treat, Miroru completely unprepared for the yank that tore her control of her own footwork away, dragging her straight over to Jun's side with a startled squawk!
I could end this. She fed me a lot of energy. I could just convert it to electricity.
Her mind raced, trying to find a way out, finding one- and immediately rejecting it.
No. That's what HE'D do. I'm better than that. Better than him. Think of something else!
She hopped as she was dragged over towards Jun's side, drawing both knees to her chest before pistoning both straight forwards, trying to punish Jun's attempt to reel her in with a double drop kick as she twisted to catch herself on her palms. She wasn't sure if the kick would land- Jun seemed to have extraordinary reflexes, and while her up-close evasion wasn't exactly tops, she was good at getting out of the way- but it was the best idea she had that didn't involve electrocuting or frying her senpai!

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The drop kick was something Jun wasn't expecting. She had inexplicably tied herself and Miroru together, so unfortunately there was no avoiding the blow, only mitigating the damage. Bracing herself she brought up both arms into a guard, gritting her teeth as the pain from both Miroru's feet meeting her arms rocked through her, pushing her back. She was still learning how to utilize this new tool, so she'd have to improvise a little to maximize efficiency. As she started to rocket back she'd hit the release on the winch, allowing for a good ten feet of length between them as Jun recovered. "Persistent," she says, reaching down to hit the reel again. "But you're outclassed." This was of course not true. If anything, Miroru held the advantage in almost everything and Jun's only saving grace as this little invention Kei made. But this is where one had to be creative. She'd stop the reel short of her, keeping Miroru just beyond arms reach as Jun yanked the second anchor off her belt, waiting for that next attack in order to entrap Miroru with the second chain. Something else. ANYTHING else. Keep thinking! GIVING UP is what'll let Junsuina-senpai down! LOOK! THINK! Feel it out! I can-
I CAN do this.
I SEE IT!
Miroru's feet slammed into Jun's guard and shoved her back as Miroru dropped and popped back up, her agility proving once more impressive, nearly on an Olympic level! Her eyes caught Jun slapping the release for the winch again, the second time so far. The third as she released the second anchor.
"Hey, Lightshow. You know anything about old movies? Lemme introduce you to something-"
The fox shot into motion, running for Junsuina- and diving towards her, curling her legs in as she twisted her body and KICKED off empty air, catapulting herself past at an angle as she slapped the winch release as she shot past, releasing a pulse of magentic energy to lock it open briefly as she flew past, boots roaring as she shot air back the other way- only to release the magnetism, pivot, and catch the spooled-out line in her fist.
"-FROM THE CLASSICS!"
Her boots blasted, and she shot forwards, twisting, to blast again and launch her at a 90 degree angle all over again, again, again, rapidly zipping her around Jun until the line went slack- and then pushing her boots to their limits as she whipped around the bigger girl, the cord wrapped haphazardly around Junsuina- until they smashed into each other and toppled to the ground!
"... h-had *urrp* oogh... uh... enough yet... villain..?"

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Here she came. Jun was prepared, and- She redirected. She was prepared for a punch, a kick, hell even a bolt of lightning, but not that. To make matters worse she tagged the winch, and as Miroru walked on air Jun grit her teeth. "Oh no you don-" She reached down to flip the winch back, only to find it stuck. She looked down, the chain flying from its receptacle rapidly with the button stuck. "No, nononono," she mutters, reaching down to try and clear the problem. Only that there was no good solution, and the writing was on the wall. In desperation she conjured a set of chains to try and knock Miroru out of the air, but by that point she was too late. The winch's chain had wrapped Jun up, and before she knew it she was on the ground, incapacitated. "Urgh! The heck!" One arm was free, but it was clear she was unable to break out. After a few moments of struggling Jun stopped, sighing as she leaned back. At the very least, she got the consolation prize of Miroru almost getting sick...but at the same time that would have made her sick, and neither of them needed that right now. "Alright, you got me...wow, your quirk is good," she says, attempting to sit up and struggling. Miroru |

Combat wasn't the only place where Miroru relied on redirection to keep herself safe.
"It's pretty useful- but it was a bad match-up for you. I don't for a second think it'd have been anywhere near as close a match if your quirk wasn't feeding and bound by mine." It wasn't the first time Miroru had talked down her own abilities, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. "You're REALLY fast. Stronger than me, too, and quicker reactions. A lot of what we did left me with highlights for room to improve. Speed and reflexes, first and foremost." Miroru unhooked the anchor from her foot and carefully helped to unwind the other redhead, still a bit green around the gills. "If you had solid projectiles, you'd have had me in a box in moments. And you can take your ammo into battle with you." Pause- and a quiet snort. "Or just knock over a jewelry store before meeting up with evil."
She turned to face Jun again, bracing herself. "So- what's your assessment, Junsuina-senpai? What should I work on to keep developing?"

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun felt indignation at Miroru as she put herself down, but she didn't say anything about it. For some reason the thought of doing so was...weird? She'd open her mouth, but couldn't find the courage to tell her that she shouldn't downplay herself like that. "I think...your hand to hand is really good. Like, I've done a lot to get myself into a good position with it for the past year, but you're... wow." As Miroru helped unwrap her she'd continue with the line of thinking. "You do seem to lack a level of ranged options, but I think that doesn't matter. With your ability to manipulate...radiation? I don't see this being a problem. I'd definitely refine your ability to take down opponents quickly though..." She'd fiddle with the winch, trying to get it to work again. "Maybe a little more gear to help with that? Those weird air walkers are insanely good. And uh, I wouldn't say I'm better at you at everything. I'm told I have a higher than average reaction time to most things, and I wouldn't be surprised if I was on par with you in most things because of it. Like, I might be a little faster...? But beyond that I think you have a higher physical aptitude." Miroru |
