He listened in to Psi-ko’s worries, and while they were valid to a certain extent, there was something that he would never agree with. “You’re right, there’s a good chance it’s a trap, whoever did this might even be using them as bait.” He replied thoughtfully, a serious and determined expression forming on his face. “But think with me, if this was a real situation, would you just leave them there?” Raito paused for a few moments, giving Psi-ko a bit of time to dwell on the question. “So even if it’s dangerous… Even if it's risky, we need to make sure they’re safe, it’s what we’re signing up for.” They were being tested to be future heroes, a profession where they would be expected to put their lives on the line for the sake of others. How would they be deemed ready for that if they would hesitate to put their approval of an exam at risk to save their colleagues.


He pondered his partner’s plan of sending to scout alone, it wasn’t that bad, but he felt going in alone and leaving the three behind wasn’t the best solution. But his thoughts were soon interrupted when Emi spoke up, and her idea of splitting the group in two was actually great in Raito’s mind. “Yeah, good call Emi!” He said enthusiastically before turning his attention to the other two. “ You two could stay hidden, following and keeping a lookout for us. If you spot anyone or anything, Psi-Ko can warm us with his mind powers and we can turn any ambush around.” The plan, at least in Raito’s mind, was set. Now, all that is left, it’s to put it into action. “Well, if everyone’s on board with it, we should get going, I’m not sure how much time we have.”

He didn't want to risk it, but he was outnumbered 2-1. He had no choice but to agree to the plan. "O...Okay. We'll follow from a safe distance behind then."

As they drew closer to the scene where their peers had already fallen, they'd notice that there were little pellets littering the ground. None of their peers seemed to have been seriously injured. Instead, they looked as if they were asleep. It'd be fair to assume that the pellets contained some sort of sleeping agent, and that is what took everyone out. The problem was that there was no real signs of a struggle meaning that they had likely been shot from afar.

The first shot would've hit the ground right in front of Raito and ricocheted into a near streetlight. The shooter could've took Raito out in one shot there, but just like those that came before him, a warning shot was only fair. There was no audible sound from where they were to clue them into the sniper's location. Instead, they'd need to figure it out based on where they believe the shot came from, and right now, only Raito was in position to figure it out.

The next couple of shots would've been aimed at his chest, but if he had stayed mobile with his quirk, they definitely wouldn't have hit him. He needed to move unpredictably, however, since the shooter was a pro. If he moved in a pattern or linearly, it wouldn't be long until he'd take a bullet to the chest. The shots were firing down at him which might've clued him into assuming that they were coming from high up—possibly the roof or an upper floor in a building. Of course the fact that the shots were coming in from up high might've helped clue them into what sort of bank they were looking for as well.

When they arrived near the fallen contestants, Raito got an eerie feeling when he saw that there was no sign of struggle to be found. Thankfully none of them seemed to be harmed, but that raised a question, how did they get knocked down so easily? “They didn’t even had the chance to fight back…” He commented thoughtfully, looking for anything that could answer his question. That’s when he noticed the small things that were littering the ground, they looked like little pellets, which means….

But Raito’s train of thought was suddenly interrupted by a loud PING! Right in front of him. “What the…!” He screamed in surprise, he was sure he didn’t heard the shot being fired, the weapon the shooter was using was totally silent and he couldn’t be sure of how much time he had before the next shot. “Emi, get to cover, now!” He screamed as he used his quirk to dash diagonally to dodge the next shot. But he needed to do more than just dodge the shots, he needed a way to find where the shooter was, it was their only lead to find the actual hostages and would be too dangerous to move forward without knowing where their enemy was. The only question was how would they find a hidden enemy with a silent weapon? But soon enough, a plan started to form in his head, if he was a good one? Only time would tell. “I think I have a plan! Stay back and try to find something big to use as a shield! ” He informed Emi.

He frantically dashed around, trying to be as unpredictable as possible, as he could not rely on any sound or visual cue to help him dodge his opponents shots, he could only be as mobile and unpredictable as possible. His plan to find the shooter was simple yet risky, as he dodged the shots, he would try to pay attention to where the pellets were hitting. With that, he would try to trace their origin, using the fact that they seemed to be shot from an upwards position and aimed at him. “There seems to be a shooter on the upper floors of a building, they are shooting at us now, but be careful.” He tried to message mentally the other two, hoping that Psi-Ko's quirk was still in reach.

Emi followed Raito close enough that they could converse but far enough that if their was trouble they could help each other out. This whole situation was the clear opposite of what they had experienced at the beginning: eerily quiet. Whoever or whatever was testing them clearly knew what to do to put them on edge. Not that it was particularly hard to do in Emi's case.

Her eyes widened as she saw all the pellets on the ground. She may not have had any combat experience, but with a military dad she could recognize a sniper situation. Even still, knowing and being prepared were two separate things "U-Uhm...Raito?" she called out sheepishly, trying to alert him while being quiet enough that she couldn't be taken out next. Unfortunately, she didn't have a chance to say anything else as gunfire rang out and Raito told her to get to cover which she promptly did finding shelter behind a wall that wasn't in their range.

'Shield, shield!' she thought to herself as her eyes darted around, trying to find anything she could use as a makeshift shield. Her eyes settled on a mailbox to which she would grab and get back to cover, holding it delicately over her head. "Will this work??" she shouted out, hoping to get Raito's attention, all the while looking around to see where the shots were coming from.

The sniper's shots were fast, but with all of that distance between them, Raito was faster. Quick, sudden bursts of movement meant that the only way the sniper was going to hit Raito was if he predicted Raito properly, and he had to do this all while accounting for several other variables like the wind speed, wind direction, etc. Rather than waste time trying to shoot a difficult target, he opted to gun down the easier one: Emi. After all, even if Raito were to make it through, he'd be just one man against an entire group of robbers.

Psi-Ko passed along Raito's message to Emi, repeating what he had said word-for-word. He had no reason to change the message yet as it was good advice. After all, he didn't want to risk both of them to begin with. Of course, he opted to stay far behind so as not to put a target on his back either. His goal was to pass, so he needed to ensure his own survival in the competition.

A mailbox would've made for decent cover were it not for the fact that they were dealing with a pro-hero and excellent marksman. He had already fired more than enough shots to serve as a warning. The gloves were off now, and so he planted his next shot firmly into Emi's right shoulder. Were it not for her unique muscle composition, she'd probably have been quickly knocked out like all the others as well. At worst, she'd probably have just felt like she took a heavy punch. Seeing as how she didn't go down to one shot, he slotted in a fresh mag, giving her about ten seconds to reassess the situation and act accordingly. If she stayed out in the open, he'd be sure to fire more, waiting a short while between each confirmed hit to see if she'd go down.

Meanwhile, Raito was free to proceed up ahead which would lead to an unmarked building. Up the stairs that led to the glass door entry, there'd be a wall with a floor directory. The one listing that would've likely caught his eye was for floor nine: an investment bank. There were two ways up to floor nine: a spiral staircase or the elevator.

Still unsure what to do Emi stood relatively still with the mailbox in tow watching with awe at how fast Raito could move. If anyone could stop this shooter it would be him! This, however, would almost cost Emi her place at UAU. The sniper rightfully swapped to the easier target and the shot let loose would indeed feel like someone slugged her in the shoulder. This caused her to stagger and drop the mailbox in pain as she clutched her shoulder. "I'm hit but I'm okay," she would communicate telepathically before frantically looking around for a better option. If she remembered anything from her dad's instructions on what to do in a firefight, it was that if you couldn't find cover or close the gap the best way to handle it would be to change the vantage point, make the sniper have to change their position. So, bending her knees, she would leap with all her might to in an attempt to make it to the top of the nearest building and then would make her low, keeping an eye out for any further gunshots at Raito.

It seemed that his gamble of using the mobility of his quirk was working, though moving like that was also draining to Raito, as he could not afford to stop for a second without risking getting shot. But he was caught by surprise when the shooter outsmarted them and directed his next shot at his partner instead. “EMI!” He called out, as he watched her jump to the top of a nearby building and out of his sight.

The shots seemed to stop for a bit, and as much as Raito wanted to check if Emilia was alright, he felt that the best way to help would be to press on and try to force the sniper out of their position, hopefully giving enough breathing room for his teammates. “I will keep moving forward, I think I have an idea of where the shooter is.” He would say mentally. Raito would continue to move in non-regular patterns while going forward, to dodge any possible new shot from the sniper, until he finally reached his destination. He entered through the glass door, and upon checking the floor directory on the wall, he would gasp in surprise, a bank on the ninth floor!? So this was where they were supposed to go! “I found the place! I don’t see anyone yet but there’s a bank on the ninth floor of this building!” He would tell his allies telepathically and then start moving towards the spiral staircase. “I will go in and try to distract them!” He continued, cautiously going up the stairs while giving them instructions of how to reach the place with Psi-Ko’s telepathy.

As Psi-Ko was the only one not pushing forward to the objective, he started to get anxious. If he just sat in the backline doing nothing, there was no way that he'd get enough points to get accepted into U.A. Raito was already making his way into the bank, and Emi was pinned down. If he wanted the points, he needed to join up with Raito, but the only way to do that was to get past the sniper. In other words, he needed to Emi to sacrifice herself for him.

"I'm hit, but I'm okay," he communicated to Raito. Then he shot a message to Emi. "Phew...You had me worried. I'm going to push on ahead, but I need you to draw the sniper's attention once more. If he hits me or Psi-Ko once, we're done for."

Meanwhile, the sniper did indeed change targets back to Raito. He didn't have time to adjust his position to deal with Emi, and Raito was the closest one to the objective. He fixed his aim back on Raito, trying to gun him down before he made it into the safety of the building. Psi-Ko used this opportunity to make a mad dash for the building as well. Unfortunately, the minute Raito made it through, the sniper would take aim at Psi-Ko, and the only way Psi-Ko was going to make it by is if Emi fell for Psi-Ko's little trick and put herself back in the sniper's crosshairs.

Raito would've been able to ascend up the staircase with no hassle up until around the 8th floor. Two criminals in ski masks were stationed at the stairs to the 9th floor. Seeing Raito approach, they'd quickly take aim and start shooting at him with their handguns. The bullets, of course, were the same as the ones that the sniper used.

From her vantage point Emi finally had a chance to catch her breath. This entrance exam was tougher than she ever imagined and she could see pretty clearly why it was hard to get into UAU. Her lack of experience was definitely showing as she found herself scrambling to come up with a plan quickly as to not let her teammates down. She was out of the line of fire, now being above the place where the sniper likely was and didn't dare look over the side of the building as she believed she would immediately be shot and falling from this height...she didn't want to think about it.

The voice ringing out in her head gave her enough confidence to take a deep breath and try again. If there was no other options than jumping back into the middle of the battlefield, then she'd need to distract from her. Clenching her fist she would raise it above her head before slamming down into the top of the building as hard as she could causing it to crumble as she'd drop inside from the roof. From there it was a matter of causing as much chaos as she could as she made a dash to the nearest stairway to go down. The sniper was in real trouble now!
