[Freja Helt]

Freja had agreed to meetup with Miroru and check out the festival together. Why oh why, had she agreed to such a thing when she was still wearing her blue and gold yukata? Sure, she was slowly getting used to wearing it now as the girls, Emilia and Rin, had helped her pick it out, but still.. This was Miroru! Freja had usually worn her school uniform, or loose fitting clothing like a big hoodie around her. She wasn't used to wearing anything of this nature yet. The thought of Miroru seeing her like this was enough to make her face glow redder than the festival lights.

She mulled that thought over as she stared down at her reflection in the water fountain. Why was it a big deal if Miroru saw her like this or not? She was pretty sure she wasn't going to make fun of her, was it because of what happened the last time they hung out? That whole store robbery where they had to work together. She remembered holding Miroru's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze, and how she practically leapt into Miroru's arms after the fighting to hug her. Normally Freja wasn't that touchy, so why did she do it? She grumbled to herself as she pulled out a fan and tried to fan her blush away. I-It was probably the Japanese climate, that's it! She still hadn't adapted to it and it was making her do silly things, or think silly thoughts. Thoughts about Miroru. Was she okay, was she going to show up? What if she didn't even recognize Freja like this?

She checked her phone again for the tenth time in two minutes.

Taking a deep breath, she put her phone away. It was no use getting paranoid. Miroru was fine, she was strong and capable in her own right, and she had never stood her up before, so she had no reason to believe it would happen today.

Freja was left waiting a little while longer than Miroru intended, but not much longer than she already had. In short order, the petite came scurrying into view, clopping a little in a pair of wooden sandals strapped onto her hero boots, doing her best to be ready for anything and still in the spirit of the festival!

"I'm here! I'm here, I'm sorry, it took longer to get ready than I thought! The silly obi is way harder to tie by myself than I thought it'd be!" The redhead scampered over towards Freja, smiling and flushed from the hurried approach. "I almost fell over like three times before I got the hang of the geta. Have you been managing okay? Or did you skip them for something a little less likely to drop you on your face?"

She took a moment to look Freja over and lit up, clapping her hands excitedly! "Oh, you look AMAZING in your yukata, Freja-chan! Did your roommate help you get all dressed up?? Or did you manage that alone?!"

She perked her head up when Miroru announced her presence. ''T-Tell me about it!'' She had never thought putting on a yukata could be so complicated or exhausting. ''You really didn't have to rush so much, I get it.'' The last thing she would want was for Miroru to risk tripping, let alone actually trip over because she was in such a hurry. Still, the way she was dressed, the way she talked, the way she was just... Miroru. It made her really happy for some reason.

''I-I've been managing.'' She brushed a stray lock of hair back behind her ear, blushing at the compliment she received from Miroru. ''Yeah I got a lot of help, thankfully, it's not like guys are supposed to know how to put these things on. It's not even a tradition where I'm from the in the first place..'' Miroru was looking right at her. She could feel her heart beat faster as she looked at the ground and built up the courage to look back at her fox friend again. ''You look amazing too, Miroru. You said you did yours yourself? I can't imagine how difficult that must have been, or could you get one of your light clones to help?'' She knew that Miroru's quirks had limitations, but somehow she made it look like she could do anything with her power.

Pushing off of the fountain, Freja would turn and look back at Miroru as she started walking. ''Are you hungry? You can get any snack you want, my treat!''

"Of course I did! I left you waiting!" Miroru protested, shaking her head. "That was rude and I didn't mean to, so I had to do what I could to make sure it wasn't longer than necessary." She brightened up a bit more as Freja opened up about the help she got. "Yeah, I know- well, on the plus side, it's no MORE unfamiliar for being femme than it is for being foreign, you know? So you don't have to feel bad!" She added a brilliant little smile at the end, and waved, encouraging Freja to follow her towards the festival!

"Aw, thanks. I'm glad I look okay. Being able to see yourself from all angles doesn't mean you can get your hands to do what you want from all angles," Miroru demurred, nodding a bit. "And nah, they're just pictures. Kei's helping me work on some ideas for hard light, but I don't think it's every gonna truly reach the level of amazing that Junsuina-senpai can put together."

Hungry? Miroru perked up- literally, her ears and tail both flickering upwards expectantly. "Really? You sure? Fair food can be a little bit pricy!"

''It's fine really, all is forgiven. It's not like I waited here for hours.'' She smiled, moved by the fact that Miroru valued and respected Freja's time so much that she felt the need to hurry for her and own up to being late. Usually people didn't care that much about her. ''Is that so? I didn't mean to make any assumptions, but I suppose you're right, it's a big and confusing world. F-Feminine stuff like that.'' She looked down at the ground as they walked further into the festival, almost as if she knew she would be blinded by Miroru's radiance if she looked for too long.

''I see, even a quirk that might give you an advantage, still comes with its own problems to work out.'' She couldn't say it so directly, but Miroru looked more than okay. They were hardly the only ladies wearing yukatas or kimonos for the festival, but somehow Miroru shone brighter than everyone else. Kei, Junsuina-senpai, they were people she didn't know, but she assumed from the context that they were their classmates. ''Yeah, we're lucky there's so many talented people at school, aren't we?'' She wasn't even sure where she would be herself if it wasn't for the amazing super bat Ana had made for her.

''Of course!'' The way her ears and tail flickered upwards was impossibly cute. ''I'm not hurting for money and besides, that's what friends do right? Buy each other things every now and then.'' She gave her shoulder a playful nudge. ''I'm not a picky eater so I'll have pretty much anything.'' She gestured to the food stalls. What was Miroru feeling like today? ''The choice is yours.''

"If you're sure, Freja-chan!" Miroru chirped. From her perspective, if Freja was happy with the outcome, then her hurrying had done its job! Mission- complete. She reached out and set her fingertips on the back of Freja's hand reassuringly as she spoke of scary femme stuff. "It IS a big and confusing world of stuff and things. And you're not alone or wrong in feeling so."

The fox nodded firmly at the next comment. "Mmh! Everything's got kinks to work out. Some of the trickiest ones aren't even obvious until you're neck deep and it's too late to try to do anything but frantically adapt!" A grin, and an elbow gently pushed into Freja's side. "We ARE lucky. You're at the top of the list, though, missy. You don't get into UAU on skill alone without topping the "talented folx" charts!"

"Hmhmhmhm... you've fallen for my trap! Now I can get you cute things and you've no choice but to accept, because it's what friends do! AHAHA! My villainous scheme, come together at last! Prepare thyself! For GIFTS. And goodies and surprise stuffs!

...

... after we get takoyaki," she said, pointing to a little stand nearby with a stocky kid plunking octopus bits into batter on those iconic little half-sphere trays.

She looked down at Miroru's hand for a brief moment, faint blush in her cheeks as she reassured her that it was okay to be scared of and confused around femme stuff. ''T-Thank you.. I don't know where I'd be without your help. It's funny, I used to be too scared to talk to you, but ever since I did great things have happened.'' She smiled, it was a bit sappy, but it was the truth!

''Is that so?'' She grinned back, it was impossible not to when Miroru was. Something about her mood and entire disposition was so infectious. It took her back to the first time they met and how Freja met her with pessimism, but Miroru slowly disarmed all of that with positive reassurance and genuine friendship... They were friends, right? ''I-I don't know about that! I was just good enough to get accepted!'' She nudged back playfully. ''If anyone's at the top of the list it'd be you. Seriously, whenever someone pulls off amazing feats at school, it's always you.'' It was something she admired immensely about Miroru. Her ability to be so helpful and happy, while also acing everything the school threw at them. In Freja's mind she was up there with Farrin, but she felt differently about Miroru, for some reason.

''W-Wait what?!'' She raised her arms in protest, ''Th-That's not what I meant, you can't turn this around on me, I was gonna get you stuff! ..Starting with takoyaki!'' She smiled, trying to hide how flustered Miroru had made her. ''Two trays of takoyaki, please!'' She smiled as she approached the stand, holding up two fingers. Once they had their food Freja would look around for a bench they could sit on.
