Much like her physiology Yanai Hebiru's personality is akin to a pit of vipers. Her kindness is skin deep and serves only to hide the horrible truth beneath.
 
To the outside world Hebiru is a friendly and upstanding woman whose sole goal in life is to improve the lives of others. She's diligent and caring, always going the extra mile for her patients whether it be through ensuring they receive the best care possible or following up on them in private. Even outside of her job she's supportive of those she knows, assisting without being asked and seeing anything she does all the way through. Despite her busy schedule as a researcher she always puts those under her care first leading many to wonder when she finds the time to sleep.

In truth however Hebiru cares about not one bit about anyone other than herself. Much like her body itself she's hollow, ever burdened with a gnawing feeling that something important is missing. Her entire life she's spent chasing achievements, new discoveries and prestige to fill that hole yet nothing so far has succeeded. Even so she perseveres, knowing there must be a light at the end of the tunnel even if she has no idea how to get to it. A little feigned slip of tongue or a bit of prodding here or there are often enough to set people on a path that'll allow her to gain more information relevant to her fields of study, slowly allowing her to progress further and further. Until she reaches her goal she calculates her every move, feigning emotions she doesn't feel to ensure no one can see through her facade. For fear is an ever present companion to her, one of the few emotions she can feel in full.

When acting as The Gorgon she takes on a more playful demeanor, toying with her opponents when the battle allows it and informing them of their inadequacies as if she were teaching them how to improve. Whether this is a sadistic impulse shining through her mask or that she's grown more fond of acting as a mentor than she expected is unknown, even to herself.

Hebiru is relatively tall and slender, her line of work and more importantly her physiology causing her to have little in the way of muscles. Her hair is worn as a braid going down the front of body and she has two stylized snake tattoos, one on each arm. When in public she takes to wearing a knee length backless black dress with two stylized white arrows crossing over her waist. She complements this with a white lab coat she leaves open at the front.

When operating under official capacity as a hero Hebiru wears a hooded sleeveless black onesie that ends right above her ankles and a pair of spiraling bracelets. Additionally her hair is braided right over left instead of left over right to throw off anyone that might link her appearance to her civilian identity.

Even early in her childhood Hebiru's intelligence was noted as being far beyond the norm. While still in kindergarten she was oft praised for her ability to understand and learn things far beyond what was expected for her age range. The warm feeling she received from such praise is something she clung to and chased harder and harder when her quirk's manifestation gradually robbed her of her emotions.

Despite her efforts the warmth inside could not be maintained and with the dampening of her feelings the continual praise began to feel as hollow as her physical form. Even so she clung to what she once knew. The experience she could no longer recreate but forever wished to know again. Her very own internal White Moonlight. 

She skipped grades in both grade school and middle school and found high school to be so unchallenging as to be boring. It is only when she went to a prestigious university to study medicine and psychology that she found something that could spark her interest. Perhaps caused by her own unique biology she delved entirely into this field of study, co-authoring and even authoring her own papers as she worked her way through her Bachelor's degrees, Master's  degrees and PhDs. 

She took to her studies with such an intensity that legal research was insufficient for her and before long she found herself taking on a second identity as well, that of The Gorgon. While she went through all the official procedures to gain a hero license she preferred to keep her hero-related activities a secret to the open world to prevent them from affecting her other profession. Albeit each of her outings is fully reported, including a full file she submits to the required agencies detailing the full extent of her outing except for what files, data and research material she copied or appropriated. As a result the fact that she operates as a hero was little more than an open secret to anyone with hero-related careers and subject to speculation by anyone else that pays attention.

 Trying her best to keep her two identities separate she researched what she could within her civilian identity -often pushing boundaries and reaching heights few of her colleagues expected- while using her alias to collect data that would either be illegal, far too slow to gain through official methods or unethical whenever she came across it. The more she learned the more it became clear to her that her quirk was the cause of the majority of the problems she experienced and studying mundane medicine, even enhanced by her 'other' means as it was, would not lead her to the solution she so desperately needed.

So it is that she turned towards quirkology in addition to her previous fields of study, particularly the physiological changes caused by Mutation or Transformation type quirks. Unable to imagine any place better for her continued research than one where a large amount of people growing into their quirks and advancing their understanding and usage thereof gather Yanai Hebiru accepted a job as UAU's school nurse. Her work ethic and devotion to the job allows her no less than complete support for any and all that would seek her assistance, slowly increasing her own understanding of how quirks affect both one's mental and physical state as she interacts with the students of UAU.

And as ever should she find her progress too slow, The Gorgon will be acting behind the scenes to secure the data she requires.

It is only between the ages of four and six that her quirk began to manifest and her body was slowly changed from the inside out. Over the course of those two years it hollowed out, her insides -organs, veins, bones, muscles and everything else- replaced entirely by slithering, snake-like biological structures. Her emotions receded and her mind changed, its chemistry no longer tied to that of a normal brain. Due to no longer possessing vital organs Hebiru is extremely hardy and needs to lose either half her body or be decapitated in order to be put down for good. The reason severing her head is lethal despite the fact that no brain dwells within is morphological and Yanai Hebiru herself is entirely unaware of this weak point. Should a non-lethal amount of her body be severed or otherwise destroyed Hebiru can over the course of a day redistribute her mass to appear whole again and function once more, albeit with greatly reduced efficiency.

 Over time she's discovered she can manifest these serpentine structures as external appendages by consciously using her quirk to compress them into thin, black arrows with razor sharp edges. The easiest place to externalize them from and the one that allows her the most control is her lower back. The quantity she can manifest depends on the length and breadth of the limbs she decides to manifest.

Unlike when they are within their 'normal' container Hebiru's appendages do not hold the same instinctive muscle memory normal limbs do. For any motions with more complexity than 'Move straight' Hebiru needs to either consciously control them or link them to pre-existing muscle memory through the use of intricate movements. As such her attacks tend to be choreographed during the time in between her manifesting the appendages she intends to use and the attack moving towards the enemy. 

Manipulating her appendages outside of her body is akin to moving muscles one is unused to relying on and using a large amount of them causes her aches and exhaustion similar to a full workout. As such she is only able to use her abilities for minutes at a time before being rendered almost immobile by fatigue. Due to her internal structure lacking the strength of a normal human musculature Yanai Hebiru is incapable of causing any form of significant blunt trauma with her 'external shell' nor is she capable of lifting anything heavier than three kilograms. While Hebiru is capable of reshuffling mass to have her 'shell' maintain or regain its outwards appearance should it be damaged actual regeneration happens at the same pace anyone else could regain mass. Depending on the severity of the damage she can require up to three months to regain full functionality.

Good people. Bad people. They’re all still people. As someone who leaned heavily into the punk rock scene in her far flung youth, she totally gets that human beings can be as charitable as they can be vicious. Chiara herself is no exception to that, but all she can do is try her best to be not necessarily a hero, but someone that others are happy to be around. Blessings, flaws, quirk, and all.

These current days are a [s]pain in the ass[/s] mystery to Chiara. On one hand, being a pro hero sounds pretty awesome with all its perks. Beat people up, legally! Get paid and adored for doing it! Dress however you want! On the other hand, she doesn’t like that it’s practically expected for her to take a hit for the home team solely because she’s a quirker. There’s also the very morbid relevance of one’s own mortality, [i]which is utterly horrifying enough at her age,[/i] but that comes as a far second place to her pride as an individual. 

Speaking of, she’s already hung up her skateboard for the most part, and became a [i]kinda[/i] productive member of society helping out at her Ma’s restaurant. Adulthood’s not really a gig you start rocking from day one, but she’s making an effort, at least on weekdays. She doesn’t know if she wants to be a pro hero forever either, but that’s okay, right? [i]Right?[/i] For now she’s content to just run the rat race known as life, and see where chance and opportunity take her.

To sum up all that melodrama, no, she’s not as dauntless as she makes herself out to be. That said, before being a quirker, Chiara’s still just human.

People usually have a lot of nice things to say about Italy. Exemplary food and wines. Lovely scenery and art that extends deep into history. Hell, even the Pope lives there. The country truly has its unique charms. However, like anywhere else in the world, Italy has its own problems as well. Organized crime is unfortunately another icon of the country, and has become its own entertainment genre even.

In Southern Italy, where Chiara’s family lived, racketeering and extortion were the prices to pay to live in ‘peaceful’ towns. Chiara herself was too young to remember her father when he was murdered by the Sicilian Mafia for trying to stand up to the bullying. The mafioso in charge of the affair [i]graciously[/i] allowed Chiara’s mother to keep her husband’s small restaurant, and put a hold on when the Sagaria family would have to begin their monthly payments.

He said: 
[i]“We may be criminals, but we are still men of honor. With respect to Mr. Sagaria’s honor, our condolences; take your time to mourn and bury him with dignity. We’ll expect your cooperation once your business is taken care of.”[/i]

Chiara had never heard such bullshit in her life when she had finally been told the truth about her father’s death as a teenager.

Without her father in the picture the girl had slightly grown into a tomboy of sorts to help protect her Ma, her only family she had left in the world. The town she grew up in was pleasant enough, but there was always an apprehensive atmosphere of dread when certain well dressed men prowled the streets. Chiara’s mom worked hard to keep her daughter on a good path and away from the local gangs, but the girl would always manage to brush shoulders with them. Even as a child Chiara could see the unease and anxiety their presence caused her mother.

Having developed an authority problem, and with the bomb of a truth being revealed to her about her father, the family’s situation didn’t improve with the revelation of Chiara’s quirk. Not wanting history to repeat itself Chiara’s mother packed up their lives and moved them both to Japan. She had heard of a special school of sorts. A place for quirkers to safely develop. Unfortunately Chiara had just recently finished high school, but she was enrolled into the UA University all the same.

She only made it two years into the program before dropping out. She had been blamed for the destruction of several houses in an unsanctioned training exercise; an ‘accident’ as the pro-university government had called it. In reality, Chiara’s only crime was covering up for a friend’s mistake, and being all too eager to find an excuse to leave the program. It’s a secret very few know, including her mother. So it was with her Ma’s blessing that she took the test to become a hero instead of going back to UAU for a third year.

Her score wasn’t great, but passing is passing. As a Pro Hero she usually sticks to the part of Tokyo immediately around Kiyoshi Shopping Mall. People aren’t always glad to see Hellion blazing through the streets, but she didn’t take the job to impress clowns. For the most part she’s adjusted well to life in another country, but every now and then she checks the ticket fares to Italy.

She has the ability to manifest, manipulate, and control lava and obsidian. Not as flashy or grandstanding as some of her peers, but she’s not complaining either. Being that obsidian is just hardened, dried lava it’s little surprise that she can freely control its state of being, turning lava into obsidian, and obsidian back into lava. 

The horns on her head are obsidian in nature, and are fused with her skull. [s]For those asking, no, she wasn’t born with horns, they were just lumps as a baby.[/s] Chiara keeps their edges dulled, but takes pride in their polished appearance.

[b]QUIRK DRAWBACKS:[/b] 
In strict contrast to her body’s ability to tolerate heat, Chiara avoids cold, wet environments. She’ll survive going into a walk-in freezer to grab groceries, but you’ll have to throw her into an unheated pool after sundown. Her body just doesn’t cope well with low temperatures, and she’s prone to getting sick if she stays freezing for too long.

As for overuse with her quirk, it can cause Chiara to pass out from a severe heat stroke. Good luck getting a damp cold cloth on her forehead while she’s struggling in another state of mind.

Okay look, yeah it’s Japan, but not everyone knows martial arts, and Chiara never got the time to learn during her brief stay at UA University. What she’s learned from experience is rough, reckless, and downright underhanded. She’s willing to take a hit if she can get one in herself, and isn’t concerned about winning ‘fairly.’ She’s not advertising for a movie, she’s risking her own blood to shut down a threat. As whatever-your-god-is as her witness, she’ll become a devil herself if it helps her win.

THE MURDAH BALL BLITZ

Coinciding with the Ikigai Haru Matsuri will be the annual Murdah Ball Blitz! A game celebrated as one of the up-and-coming sports in this new quirked-up world! The Murdah Ball Blitz is a series of competitive games to be played between two teams where the only objective is to score a ball into the enemy team's goal using one's quirk. Quirks cannot be used to directly harm the opposition, but otherwise, it's anything goes! Matches will be played throughout the day with a final set of matches taking place in the Tokyo Dome at the conclusion of the day's festivities (the final set will conclude with several winners so as to not force PvP even if we do end up with several teams.)

A little more on the rules for the sake of narrative! Each team may have up to five members, and each match lasts for forty-five IC minutes. The first team to score five goals wins! If time runs out, the win goes to whichever team has the most goals! A person may carry, throw, kick, or move the ball however they wish but quirks must be utilized somehow in the scoring of a goal. The field is similar to that of a basic football / soccer field. Aside from a basic tackle, combat between teams is not allowed. That said, participants may interfere with the opposing team using their quirks (like using a smokescreen or building a wall around the opposition).

OOCly, this will primarily PvE event where our player teams will work together against NPCs. If anyone does wish to try their hand at a PvP match, I'll help facilitate it if requested, but it's not what we're looking to push. Otherwise, myself and a few others would also be willing to NPC the opposing teams for any who are interested! Most importantly, we just want people to have fun!
