After spending the entire night working, Aiden had been somewhat relieved to see that it was still raining when he opened the shutters in his office. He didn't need to look at the time to know it was almost exactly 09:00, merely look outside at the crowd of salarymen trickling into the few office buildings (including the one he currently occupied) scattered around the busy commercial district, flanked by tourists and otakus trying to get into various hobby stores and arcades at opening time. "Makes America look like France." A yawn escaped his mouth briefly, prompting Aiden to stand up from his computer chair and stretch. "Time for a break~" He leaned over the desk, saving his work and closing down the PC, before stepping out of his office for the first time in 8 hours wearing a plain lower face mask. He briefly greeted the few of his employees who had already made it up to ProjectYou's office, turning to one of them. "I'll be out of office, email me if needed. All of this morning's work has been emailed to team leaders." Descending the stairs, Aiden walked out through the lobby and on to the rainy street. He moved with the pack of commuters, arriving at a metro station, and took the first train out of the Akihabara district entirely.
On days like this, Aiden took the rare opportunity to explore the city he'd be calling home for the forseeable future. After picking his random direction and ascending back onto the street from the metro, he walked for a while along the streets of the world's most populous city. Despite what he knew of Japan's abysmally little ethnic diversity, the diversity in appearance brought on by the Advent of Quirks never ceased to astound him. It felt like about every third person he passed was visibly mutant, and a significant number bore traits of nonhuman animals or altered body shapes. 'All this, and I'm the weird one for being gaijin?' His thoughts rang out, unspoken, as Aiden reached a sign that caught his eye. A tea shop, from the looks of things. "The Bovine... what?" He pulled out his phone, looking up the kanji of the sign in case he had misread, but sure enough its validity was confirmed. What an odd name for a tea shop. "Well I have to, now." He entered, looking around at the well-crafted scenery and hearing the divine mix of rainfall on concrete/glass and soft music. Aiden took down the hood of his simple black hoodie, but did not remove his 'hygeine' mask as he sat down and read one of the menus. When was the last time he ate? Must've been the previous evening, right? Once he had a decent idea of what he was getting, Aiden looked around once more for the store's owner, finding someone who probably fit that bill sat on a ladder below a CCTV camera. "Good morning. Technical issues?"

Unique Variant Solutions Ltd. is an American quirk support, quirk research and medical equipment company founded in New York City in January 2092 by Dr. Markus Magnusson, Aiden Markusson and Dr. Matthew Brown.[1] The company produces tech geared towards Quirkers, especially Heroes or those studying Heroics, with the stated mission of "creating a world where all can live freely from the harm inflicted unwillingly by Quirks, most of all on their users"[2]. The company's motto is "Each person a unique variant, each item a unique solution."[2] While Unique Variant Solutions does produce some product lines which are more general (such as their 'UnderControl Collection' line, which is aimed at controlling Quirk-related outbursts and emotional symptoms and has received criticism from mutant and quirker rights activists for promoting 'anti-quirker rhetoric which paints us as needing to be controlled'[3]), the vast majority of its products are tailored to individual quirks or families via consultations in-person or online with one of the company's resident quirk scientists[4] (such as their 'ThermoSafe Band' line, initially created for the family of Crystal King[5] before being released in a new edition for mass-production due to popular demand[5]). Magnusson currently serves as the CEO, with Markusson as CTO and Brown as Head of Research.
Unique Variant Solutions (UVS) is a rising star in the support equipment industry: the product of Aiden's engineering & funding, and his father's quirk science pioneering efforts & contacts. While the company was founded and began research operations (with a private Quirk database) shortly before Aiden began his undergrad studies, they only began engineering and design services in 2096, and Aiden took over as CTO in 2098. The company's explicit efforts to improve Quirker quality-of-life and tendency to work with heroes has lead to not-insignificant popularity on UVS' part, opening branches in several countries either privately or in collaboration with local governments. With Aiden Markusson overseeing (given his move to Tokyo for business regardless), UVS are constructing 5 new labs/offices in the Tokyo area, 3f being currently operational. Their main HQ office space is shared with that of ProjectYou, in Akihabara. - Lab 1: Known by employees as the 'Hazard Box', this lab serves as the main workshop for testing and construction of support equipment on behalf of Pro Heroes. While this is the smallest of the facilities, Lab 1 is also the most secure, with doubly-redundant and reinforced systems for dealing with almost any forseeable hazard that Quirks on the level of Heroes could produce. The researchers and technicians in this Lab are typically the company's most experienced, to deal with the higher level of quality assurance required for such important customers.
- Lab 2: The second Tokyo UVS laboratory is catered towards testing & design for support equipment on behalf of highschool and university Heroics students (mostly the latter). While not as reinforced as the Hazard Box, there are just as many security mechanisms, implemented with the understanding that 14-23 year-olds aren't usually the most sensible, nor the most restrained with usage of their Quirks (with the same going triple for the average Heroics student). This lab is where the more eccentric and innovative staff can usually be found, and where interns are usually stationed at first.
- Labs 3-5: These laboratories are (planned to be) much larger, and are dedicated to serving all of the civilian and government clients. They are much less over-protected than the two specialist Labs, though still with appropriate safety mechanisms, and have larger dedicated medical & research wings. Only the first of these 3 labs has been fully constructed as of April 2100, but the majority of UVS' current Japanese staff are stationed here.
UVS routinely offers paid internships to Support students, and will sometimes scout people with appropriate skills in quirk science, design or engineering to offer them full-time positions. |

ProjectYou Ltd. (stylised 'ProjectYou!) is an American novelty fashion and consumer electronics company founded in New York City in December 1997 by Aiden Markusson & Luna Greyfoot. The company produces clothing, accessories and footwear inlaid with programmable LED lights, or flexible screens & digital displays, with recent luxury clothing lines containing miniaturised holographic projectors or partial cloaking technology. Markusson is currently the company's Chief Technical Officer (CTO), while Greyfoot is its Chief Creative Officer (CCO), with both co-owners maintaining 50% ownership and leadership of ProjectYou Ltd.
ProjectYou is just over 2 years off from its founding as a startup, and has already achieved a small subculture/fanbase in North America and parts of Western Europe. It was the brainchild of college friends Aiden Markusson, then developing his undergrad thesis project around cutting-edge projector tech, and Luna Greyfoot (a wolf Quirker) who was working on various ideas around clothes that allowed full customisability and self-expression. The prototypes the two produced for their Bachelor's courses were promising enough to prompt a large amount of external investment, leading to the two starting ProjectYou in their sophomore year via an online store and eventually a storefront & office in Manhattan. The duo's creative use of celebrity (especially Pro Hero) endorsements, collaborations with video games and Idol/VTuber groups, and appeal to progressive groups/imagery has lead to an explosion of popularity in a relatively short time, with ProjectYou opening international offices in London, Los Angeles, and (most recently) Tokyo. Aiden, given his semi-fluency in Japanese, was chosen to oversee the expansion of ProjectYou into the Japanese market (and the East Asia market in general) from the corporate HQ and storefront in Akihabara, Tokyo. |

Herein is the thread where I'll track Aiden's progress, and I can't think of a fun narrative spin for this one so it'll be matter-of-fact. The Starting Point - April 2100- Aiden Markusson currently stands as the co-founder & CTO of 2 companies: ProjectYou and Unique Variant Solutions (UVS). He is seeking to expand his horizons and acquire more wealth. - facade is a relatively unknown figure in the criminal underworld of Tokyo, with nothing more than a few hacking jobs and a good track record of secrecy to cement any kind of reputation. He wants more, obviously. - Fresh off a private flight from New York, he'll be taking residence in Tokyo for the forseeable future to oversee several things: - The legit business expansion of ProjectYou (via endorsements and celebrity/idol partnerships) and UVS (via using UAU and the world Hero capital for Quirk research and support equipment development).
- New business ventures using his significant liquid capital to invest in startups and fund new projects.
- Establishing a foothold in Tokyo's criminal scene, offering his services to potential partners and making a profit off arming/supporting both sides of the eternal Villain-Hero conflict (weighing in on the side of the villains, obviously)

Aiden Markusson is a man of power and deceit. In a world becoming more and more full with extraordinary people, those who can bend the world to their will with a thought, he is hellbent on acquiring and maintaining as much power as he can. facade is a snake among flowers, with the belief that if he can not sway others with charm, then subterfuge can be just as effective. He collects favours and blackmail like memorabilia and manipulates anyone he can to do the things he can't (often paying off quirkers as security or to do his dirty work). This may seem to be the result of paranoia or megalomania, but ultimately it's a misguided survival response. Aiden knows his strengths, knows that powerful people will always take the world from the powerless, and knows exactly what he needs to do to ensure he's one of them. Actions, words. Outwardly, facade seems very straightforward. He is a smiling businessman, open about what he wants and what he can give. He will start a conversation laying out the rules of engagement. Aware of his leverage to the point of stating it to his enemy's face. In this respect, when Aiden can get what he wants with money or threats, he will be honest. When he can't, he will lie. Taken off-guard or presented with someone of a similar mind to him, facade will bluff with a stone face or a scowl. His pleasure is known, his displeasure is hidden. Fangs hidden in the smile. As far as how Aiden treats others beyond honesty, he is usually fairly diplomatic. While he will make his goal explicit, facade knows that other people are best enticed with their goals. Convince people ideas are their own. Misdirect anger and blame. Gaslight. Never play fair. Treating others with compassion is for heroes and fools. Cracks, blemishes. This is not to say that Aiden is some perfect mastermind, though. He is overanalytical, obsessing over innocent details as if they suggest danger. He is craven, backing down or fleeing if he cannot guarantee his own safety or if confronted by legitimate threats/intimidation himself. Most of all though, Aiden Markusson is prideful. He overestimates his own intelligence and cunning greatly, being susceptible to the same kind of 'diplomatic' plays he himself employs. If someone were to catch him in a trap, especially one of his own devising, facade would crumble, powerless. Without his influence, without bodyguards to hide behind or idiots to puppeteer, he is nothing. The second mask slips to reveal true vulnerability. He tends to play this up for intimidation or confidence. When wearing his (literally) trademark mask, Aiden can make his eyes (or the space eyes would normally occupy), look like whatever he wants, though simple emoticons typically work fine for him. » HAIR COLOR: Aiden's hair is a dull dirty blond colour, and every time Aiden makes a press/social media appearance, he dyes the front part of his hair (that would stick out from a hood) a different colour. He says it's to show queer & mutant solidarity, but it's purely for PR. » SKIN COLOR: He has pale skin that pretty clearly marks his European heritage, another annoying obstacle to blending in with the people of Tokyo. » FACE CLAIM NAME: Wrench (Mask/'Civilian') and Josh Sauchak (Villain) » FACE CLAIM SERIES: Watch_Dogs civilian (public) appearance: villain & civilian (true) appearance: There are two sides to Aiden Markusson: the mask and facade. The two have drastically different demeanours and fashion senses, so let's detail them separately. As Aiden Markusson (known online as AidM), the public co-owner and CTO of a couple of tech startups, he never appears in public without either his mask (a black studded half-mask with an 8-bit display over the eyes) or significant (prosthetic) alterations to his face, sometimes including scars or facial tattoos. This outfit also often includes a black leather jacket with a cloth hood (so as to further obscure his head), with various patches/pins of whatever punk, progressive and/or sci-fi things that are trending at the time. In this more public appearance, Aiden is very introverted and reserved. He speaks quietly, or not at all, and avoids eye contact, preferring to stare at the floor or some other tech project of his. He's humble, downplaying achievements and praise. His body language signals social anxiety and discomfort with being the center of attention. This is facade's greatest deception, an intentional effort to garner sympathy and an air of benevolence by masking his more openly sociopathic and selfish tendencies Behind the false face and false heart, facade's appearance is comparatively very plain. Almost always dressed in casual wear, with mostly unremarkable hoodies and tracksuits save for a couple bearing horror/sci-fi graphics or pop culture hacker slogans. The few times facade does bother to dress formally, in as bland a business suit as he could find, he makes the small gesture of combing his hair and nothing else. facade does occasionally use a mask similar to his habitual one (face fully covered by a higher-definition display screen) when making anonymous dealings with other villain/criminals, but will usually deal with such figures using his real face. Behind closed doors, in isolated alleys and on the other side of a two-way mirror, facade reveals himself to be an almost entirely different person. He's direct, assertive and confident. He speaks bluntly, with a note of a sly smile every now and then, and examines every part of those he meets, especially their eyes. The windows to the soul. He knows exactly his value and relative position of power in any meeting of egos he willingly sets up, making this explicitly known to others. Aiden possesses a teenager's physique: thin & wiry, with very little defined muscle or visible fat. While he is pretty physically fit (with the best home workout equipment he could reasonably buy), this doesn't show and one could be forgiven for presuming Aiden is weak or out of shape. Normally and as facade, Aiden has perfect, upright posture with his head held high in confidence. When making public appearances though, he adopts a slight slouch, casting his eyes down while speaking to appear introverted and shy. It's quite the interesting duality to observe, if you can get close enough to the screen to see through. Despite how he may appear, Aiden is actually ink & scar free. He has fake tattoo sleeves/patches and prosthetic blemishes which he can apply to pretty great effect, along with projecting images on his skin if he has access to the technology for it. Aiden's 'tattoos' typically fit an anarchist or punk aesthetic, with one of his staple ones literally being an anarchy symbol on the neck/chest. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]HISTORY Aiden Markusson was born in Reykjavík, Iceland in early 2078 to Dr. Markus Magnusson (a pioneering Icelandic quirk scientist) and Sarah Evans (an American makeup artist), both quirkless. The family moved to New York City (Sarah's hometown) not long after. Aiden grew up amidst the turmoil of the growing Pro Hero industry, still-evolving Quirk regulations/legislation, wide-sweeping demographic changes, etc. His parents were fairly wealthy, having hands in the rapidly changing entertainment industry and field of quirk science respectively, and so he didn't want for much during his childhood. He saw the stark difference in opportunity and outcome between his richer and poorer classmates as he grew up, how it shaped people. Aiden saw it laid out in neon lights: money is the root of power. He 'inherited' his father's analytical mind and his mother's trade skills, but not either of their passions for their fields. Aiden loved coding and visual effects, the arts of making something appear from nothing. Aiden, now in university, publicly became more introverted, more focused on his work. Meanwhile, he started discovering the criminal underworld of both his city and the world at large. Villain comms networks found themselves on Aiden's phone, which fascinated him (and promptly encouraged him to try modifying his phone to prevent further tracking). Covert deals and under-the-table hacking projects funded his college life, while his degree projects quickly grew in scale and complexity until they became marketable products all their own. During and after finishing his Comp Sci/Electrical Engineering double major, Aiden co-founded 3 tech startups, 2 of which survived to today. The first is ProjectYou Ltd., a collaboration with animal quirker fashion designer Luna Greyfoot. The company produces clothes and accessories inlaid with flexible digital screens, which can be programmed or linked to another device to display pretty much anything the wearer desires (his masks being prototypes of these products). The second is Unique Variant Solutions Ltd., co-founded with Aiden's father and his associate Dr. Matthew Brown. Unique Variant is a company dedicated to both funding research into the ways that Quirks impact the daily lives of their holders and into engineering products tailored to individual or similar quirk drawbacks, to improve the quality of life of mutants and others whose Quirks may hamper them. Both companies started small in NYC, but have now become multinational, with Aiden leading expansion himself via business deals with small support equipment, technology and clothing companies abroad to bring them into the fold. We find Aiden today only a year or so on from graduation, with a quickly rising net worth from repeated investment & illicit partnerships and growing influence with industry and political higher-ups. He has garnered a sizeable online following as AidM and now HiSato, with a reputation as a shy, humble and progressive tech genius. facade has gained a reputation as a magnificent bastard, facilitating villainous activities and providing invaluable services out of the public eye. He's still got room to grow in both of the skillsets he has used to achieve his wealth, and Aiden Markusson plans to make that growth exponential.
