TAKAYASASHI

To say that the whole situation was bewildering for the shelterd Taka scion was an understatement. To make matters worse, his appearance was giving the wrong impression... again. He saw the look on the girl in the patrol-costume's face, he'd seen it before. He tried to control his own expression of hurt, he'd gotten pretty good at it over the years.

The sudden spriteliness of the other girl took him off guard, distracting him from the moment of self deprication. She practically popped up like a rabbit out of a hole, bright eyed despite the chaos, and immediately started making more of a mess of the costumed girl's head. She introduced herself as Momo, asking for the towel from Yasashi after Vega passed it off to him.

"H-here you go," Yasashi babbled, rubbing his neck, "I'm Yasashi."

He glanced up, noting that Vega hadn't moved from where she stood and saw a peculiar look on her face. Her usual stoic expression, hammered in by his mother's ruthless training, relaxed into something a bit more mischevious. She canted her head to the right, "Day one and you already have two girls falling over in your wake, Young Master. I'm sure your mother would like to know that she doesn't have to arrange any more interviews."

Yasashi's entire head went red with embarassment, he opened his mouth and closed it like a fish, "I-yer-err-ye-uh-- G-go home Vega!"

The Chivalrous Hero's apprentice turned on her heel and walked away with a smug look on her face, getting back into the car without another word. Yasashi let out a groan as the vehicle's engines kicked back on and slowly moved away from the scene. As it did, he rubbed his head and offered a big hand to the two of them. "Sorry about her..."

TAKAYASASHI

TAKAYASASHI

Taka Keiko, the Chivalric Hero; Aegis, was not happy. Yasashi felt his expression sink a little bit as her green eyes bored into his. He got his blonde hair from her, and her strength. But his looks were largely from his father. A prominent hero from the pre-UA generation was scowling at him.

"I heard you misrepresented your quirk at registration," his mother said irritably, "What good do you think that's going to do you?"

Yasashi didn't know how to answer, she huffed and shook her head. She seemed even smaller on the screen but her presence was just as stifiling. She was half his size but every word seemed to be a punch from a gorilla. He rubbed the back of his head as she leveled him with a stare. "I figured as much, look, if it works for you it works for you, fine, do what you want. I smoothed things over with the admins-for now. You better not go lying to your classmates and puting them in danger, though! Hear me?"

The wind went out of him and he nodded, "Yes ma'am," He said, "I won't let you down."

"Yer damn right you wont! You're a Taka, a right badass by blood!" His mother barked, pointing at the screen. Something flashed off to the side and a voice called out to her. She groaned, "I'm talkin' to my friggin kid can't this wai- fine!" She spun towards the camera, "You take care of yourself you hear me, Yasashi? Don't do nothin' stupid!"

The call ended and he sagged in front of the public video-comm booth. Rubbing the back of his neck. He'd been trying to reach out to his father-whole lot of good that did-and ended up getting lectured by his mother. He stepped away from the booth and back onto the sidewalk, not paying any attention to his surroundings. He needed a nap, or something...

TAKAYASASHI

Any other day would have been fine, he would have gone along with it without batting an eyelash. It wasn't like he had a lot of choice. But at least he wouldn't have felt this way. But that wasn't how his mother worked, how his family worked. She hadn't even been there this morning when he had gotten up to get ready for his first day. An emergency, a villain on the northside that required her special kind of approach.

The car slowed to a stop as it approached the university. He was slumped down in his seat, his big body hard-pressed to sit comfortably in a limousine. He wore his new uniform, golden hair drawn back sharply and contrasting with his tan skin. He looked down at his big, meaty hands and clasped them together before looking up at the young woman sitting across from him. 

She was pretty, in that overly severe kind of way that appealed to his mother's sensibilities. She sat in a meditative pose, her hands on her knees and her sword in her lap. She was maybe two years older than Yasashi, and had gone a very different route in her life. A direct apprenticeship with the Pro Hero, Aegis.

"You have an appointment with another marriage candidate tomorrow, sir," She said abruptly, snapping him out of his thoughts. He jerked and looked at her, then looked down.

"Yeah, I know," He said with a sigh.

"You should try not to scare this one off, your mother is beginning to suspect you're doing it on purpose," She continued, her tone flat and dignified.

"I'm glad to hear someone knows whats in my mother's head, Vega," He said scornfully as the car stopped.

Her expression shifted ever so slightly at the sharp remark, her eyes going down to her weapon. He sighed and hung his head, "Sorry, it's just..."

She looked up at him and brandished a smile before getting out of the car ahead of him, she stepped to the side and opened the door. The fanciness of it all making his stomach churn. It wasn't necessary. He didn't want to feel special here. He didn't even want to be here. Not today of all days.

"Your things will be brought to your dorm, sir," Vega said as he straightened himself up, standing head and shoulders above her. He glanced down at her and she returned his ice-blue stare with her own oceanic one. Her expression warming into a smile, "Be safe sir, and happy birthday, I know it's not much, but there's something waiting for you at the dorm."

His lip trembled, he rubbed his neck, and returned the smile, "Thanks," He grunted and took a deep breath, slapping himself on the cheeks and shaking the nerves out. He squared his shoulders, brandished his biggest smile, and strode forward towards UA University and his new life. He barely had enough time to get out of the dropoff when UA University decided to provide it's own form of welcome...
