[googlefont="Roboto Condensed:400"] He listens. Might not look like it, but Warper takes careful note of every little shift and piece of information offered up. People seem to be on board with an encrypted network, and some are offering the idea of reverse-engineering something akin to ENKI for their own benefit. He won't lie: It sounds hard as hell, and it'd no doubt take time... but then that Gadget woman speaks up, and a small weight is pulled off from his shoulders. In blunt honesty, if he was going to be the only one here with an idea of how to get into tech, he may have had to consider actually charging Ghouligan for his services. Course, then there's the other figure, the one with the blade and the cloak that starts talking. Frankly, he's barely paid attention to their names. By all accounts, he should be committing each one to memory - but, for now, he's more concerned with what they're bringing to the table and saying than what they want to go by. Those casual things can wait. Right now, he's in business mode. "Gadget, if you're into tech, you and I could probably figure something out for a network." He huffs, though he sounds less angry or annoyed and more resigned to his fate as an introvert possibly now in-leagues with what appears to be an extrovert on at least one type of stimulant. "Anybody who wants to help with that, actually... Hell, we could make a tech-team for it. If we all want an encrypted network, the more hands we get on getting one set up, the faster it'll get done."He turns his attention to Ghouligan. "Like I said. Count me in for all of this." ★ faifear is non-existent. suit up and swing through the city.

[googlefont="Roboto Condensed:400"] Sure enough, there's the audacity. Conversations and callouts split the silence and, from the rafters, Warper remains completely silent. The only sound from him for the entire period is a series of clicks and clacks as his metallic gauntlets shift their grip on the edge of the rafter. He ignores everyone's statements, of course. Their business is their business. He's here for the guy at the center. Sure enough, eventually, the bastard of the hour speaks up. His head tilts as Ghouligan speaks. His gaze shifts to the side of the room and, quick as a whip, he's there, back leaned against the wall. Silent as a phantom with his arms crossed, Warper seems contemplative for a beat. Then he huffs, clicks his tongue, and shrugs. "'Kay. I'm in." He finally speaks, voice carrying about as much passion as one can expect from someone who's remained silent and still for the meeting thus-far. "You can call me Warper. Transportation and engineering specialist. I move fast, and make things faster." He taps his visor with the clawed edge of his right gauntlet. "Made this gear myself, for example. Not the best at it yet, but my gear's passable. Guarantee you that it's better than any of the hand-me-down knee-pads and tape-wrap boxing gloves some vigis wear." He takes a second, rolls his shoulder, but keeps his gaze on Ghouligan. "I'm not much of a tech developer on the coding side but, if you give me enough time, I can probably set something up for us to talk through. A way to secure lines for when we need each other, that way no heroes track us while we're down." He glances to the other vigilantes, violet slits on his mask going from person to person, then back to Ghouligan. He returns back to his lax position against the wall, arms crossed and gaze fixed on the person who called them all here. Of course, his wording is to be noted. There was not an 'if' they needed each other. It was a 'when'. He believes, genuinely, that they'll end up needing each other eventually... But, with how loud the crowd has been, he's also curious to see if anyone's stupid enough to get pissed at the notion of needing help. ★ faifear is non-existent. suit up and swing through the city.

[googlefont="Roboto Condensed:400"] It wasn't as though he wanted this to happen. He didn't set out for the day with the goal of getting the shit kicked out of him, but it comes with the job. A firefighter doesn't ask to get burned, they just get burned. A vigilante doesn't ask to pick a fight a bit bigger than them. That fight still comes knocking, though, and they still decked a few times. His muscles ache. His knuckles are busted under his gauntlets, which will need their own bit of repair later on. Worst of all, his mask is barely functioning. It's giving him directions, that much is decent; he's counting his lucky stars that no one called the cops. If they had, he wouldn't have been able to tune into any police scanners while running, and he'd be up shit's creek without a paddle. The fight, he recalls, was over his more recent activity. Or, more aptly, the mere idea of it. Warper isn't a massive vigilante, he's known in only his neighborhood - so one can imagine his surprise when people not from his neighborhood showed up, told him to stop while he was rooftop running, and things went downhill from there. Frankly, the specific nature of the encounter is blurry at best. Concussions, he reckons, will do that to you. There's an upside, though. Somewhere in Shinjuku, there's a cafe with an illegally practicing doctor. At least, that's what he's heard; communication through the vigilante networks, for him, is sparse and sporadic, and the information can rarely be fully trusted. That being said, he knows he's got bad bruises, a few sprains, and there's no way he can show up to work tomorrow with all of his injuries without getting questioned by his boss. He could quit. That thought crosses his mind as he warps from rooftop to rooftop. No, He tells himself, I need the pay.His glance shoots down to the earth below, and his feet strike it a moment later. Rumors say that the cafe is around here and, given the late hour, it'll be a miracle if it's still open. Still, if he can catch it during closing, that'll be enough. In the safety of the alleyway, Warper shrinks his gear back down, and does his best to look not so beat up. He pulls his jacket on tight over himself, hoping to mask the slouch that comes with the aftermath taking a gut punch or two, and gets walking. About half an hour later, he's right in front of a particular cafe... that seems to be closed. He could break and enter, but if this is another vigilante's turf, then it probably isn't wise to do so. With that knowledge in mind, he raises a hand, and knocks against the door a handful of times. "This is so stupid," He mutters to himself, but knocks again anyhow. If he wants to go into work tomorrow without arousing suspicion, he needs this - and if he wants to keep being a vigilante, then having a doctor on the list will certainly help keep him alive in the long run. ★ faifear is non-existent. suit up and swing through the city.

[googlefont="Roboto Condensed:400"] There's a certain level of audacity that comes with being a vigilante. You're in a world populated by titans and giants the likes of which could crush you like a gnat if they really wanted to, and you decide to, what? Say that you know how to do their shit better than they do? Say that you don't need the years of schooling, you can handle this on your own? Yeah. You need to have some audacity to do that. Sheer confidence, too. Good medical insurance doesn't hurt. Gabriel has two out of three of those things. By his count? Not bad. Not bad at all. Word might've spread like a wildfire for others, but the rumors only reached his ears the night of the meeting. Suppose that was what he got as a result of sticking to his neighborhood like glue; going too far from home-base would lead to trouble and deep shit, after all. In the best case scenario, he'd be able to stop a bigger crime and leave without getting caught. In the worst case scenario, some hero would finally catch sight of him going from rooftop to rooftop and decide to put a stop to Warper's little game of tag. The scenario he found himself in now was firmly set in the middle ground of the two options. Metallic clank-clank's sounded as his feet finally struck solid ground again. His legs were starting to cramp, rapid-fire warping sending a jolt down his spine. He cracked his neck, then grumbled a few curses as he entered the warehouse. Oh. Alright. Just one guy here so far, huh? That's kinda sad. He gave the guy in the center a two fingered salute, then aptly moved to the highest spot he could. Maybe he had to climb a ladder to get up there. Maybe he had to teleport. Didn't matter. If there was a perch, he was getting to it. Always better to have a vantage. Let's see who else shows up.★ faifear is non-existent. suit up and swing through the city.

strong-willed and stubborn to a fault are the two (technically three) phrases that should come to mind whenever he comes up in conversation. nothing can deter him from what he wants to do, and everything can stand in his way if it wants; he'll rush right through a warzone if it means getting to what he's set his mind on. his determination to keep going may as well be the key to his character: nothing stops him, nothing can make him give up, and nothing shy of divine intervention can make him question what he's doing - and even then, there's a high chance that he'll just squint, roll his eyes, and keep right on going. in his civilian life, he's relaxed. he books various jobs, does things no one else wants to do, and works enough to get a bit of cash in his account and pay for his apartment. there's a certain honor for him in doing things that the rest of society turns its back to. spending the entire day with someone because they're lonely? sure, if they pay enough. helping with someone's homework? hey, he's smart enough. in that same vein, however, he also won't hesitate to do less-than-legal jobs - as long as his face can be hidden, anyways.
the way he sees it, if no one else wants to do it, then he may as well do it - and he may as well be the best, too.
his faith in the heroic system is effectively at zero. make no mistake, he's sure some heroes are good people. he's sure they have their reasons for deciding to join the enterprise, and frankly he couldn't care less about them. their individual reasons are null and void to him; they're perpetuating a useless system that helps people, sure, but also can give way to some serious issues if his past experience is anything to go by. he's willing to talk to them. he's also willing to try and kick their ass if they try anything.
as willing as he is to do things no one else wants to do, he's also not a moron. he doesn't take every job that comes to him, especially not if it compromises his morals. he refuses to take jobs that would actively hurt someone who doesn't deserve it and, to make sure that his drive isn't taken advantage of, he frequently does his own research into potential targets and jobs. if it doesn't come from a decent source? well, he ain't doing it.
he's still a vigilante at the end of the day. money may be a strong motivator, but his core concern will always be if the people around him are safe and happy. at the end of the day, that's what matters. everything else is just a means to an end. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]𝔸ℙℙ𝔼𝔸ℝ𝔸ℕℂ𝔼 » HEIGHT: 5'9 » WEIGHT: 138 lbs » EYE COLOR: violet » HAIR COLOR: black » SKIN COLOR: black » FACE CLAIM NAME: miles morales-42/prowler-42 » FACE CLAIM SERIES: across the spiderverse if it weren't for the bags under his eyes, he'd be pretty handsome. gabriel is a well-built guy, athletic but not overly so; he lifts, but he's nowhere near superhuman in terms of physique. his style outside of his vigilante activities varies from a few high fashion items he can afford to get, to outfits that have a more casual sense to them. he has a variety of keychains dangling off from his phone case, a few of them being notable heroes here and there. in his suit, he's unrecognizable aside from having a similar build to his civilian self. all black with purple accents is the name of the game, and he may as well be winning; even in his suit, there's a sense of style and purpose to every choice he's made designing it. his helmet often reflects the image of a mask, something he decided to do after hearing about how masks tend to make some civilians feel more comfortable about getting rescued (which is probably bullshit but, hey, he read it somewhere and he'll believe it until proven otherwise).
[attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]ℝ𝔼ℂ𝕆ℝ𝔻 his parents moved to japan to be closer with his father's side of the family. at the time, gabriel had no idea why; he was three, after all. can't expect a toddler to understand international travel. also can't expect them to understand death.
gabriel was four when his grandfather died. his mother had picked up a job at a hero agency, serving as a close friend to some nameless hero, and his father had easily slotted into a corporate job. growing up, gabriel showed an innate intelligence when it came to building things. hours were spent as he would take apart his toys and put them back together. his parents gave him puzzles and he solved them. they gave him new toys and he broke and repaired them.
when he was sixteen, one of those nameless hero's villains found his family. they were just coming back from a trip to the countryside, and were driving through some tunnel. one second his parents were in the front seat. the next, the windshield broke and the inside became coated in red. nothing but red. the guy must not have known about him, or maybe he did and it was just chance that he didn't kill gabriel too. regardless, the man went on a full monologue in front of the car full of viscera.
apparently, they were on a quest to take down the agency, and it would start with the civilians. it would start with the defenseless. with the ones no one really cared about.
gabriel hid in the backseat. the villain walked right on by. he could hear the fight happening outside the tunnel as heroes responded to the scene. the rest of the evening is a blur to him. his paternal grandmother took over raising him.
he worked with his community, grew close to a few people here and there. his grandmother treated him with care and helped him when his nightmares became too much to bare. she was a kind woman. still is.
when he moved out, he started taking odd jobs. soon enough, he was funding his own little invention escapade. he connected with others who looked at heroism more so as an industry, something to be funded and solely put towards the larger populaces. no one cared about someone regular getting into a spat with a villain, nor did they care for the smaller scale atrocities. at least, in the eyes of the people he spoke to.
in the back of his mind, an idea formed.
heroes were focused on the big bucks. they weren't focused on defending people, not really. warped though his perspective was, hero merchandise proved him right. real heroes were dead and gone. now? now it was just marketing.
a few years passed. he watched tapes of heroes going about their business, focusing on their gear. he taught himself a fair bit of engineering, buying textbooks and watching breakdowns online. nothing told him exactly how to build what he wanted to build, so he took inspiration from those who were using high-end gear, and started working on his own versions. didn't hurt that he knew a handful of family friends who were happy to have a grieving guy hang around or crash there when money was tight, and that they happened to have a few pieces of tech laying around to study when their backs were turned.
now, with his gear completed after years of testing, breaking, remaking, redesigning, and repeating, gabriel has a pretty feeling. an entire city is ahead of him and he's got his gear, of course he's going to see about the whole vigilante thing. someone has to look out for the average person. someone also has to keep wastes of space from causing trouble in their neighborhoods. some might call him a mercenary when he's not protecting his home.
well. fine. let them call him that.
he doesn't care.

[attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]𝕎𝔸ℝℙ MUTATION | C RANK warper is a mutation type quirk that allows the user to instantly transport their body through space to a desired position. effectively, warper allows gabriel to teleport from point A to B, as long as certain circumstances - described in the drawbacks category - are met.
DRAWBACKS warper has extremely specific qualifications that must be met in order to be activated successfully.
1. the desired location must be within his line of sight.
2. the desired location cannot be behind any transparent substance, such as glass or force-fields.
3. the desired location cannot be seen through magnified means. this is to say that, if he looks through a telescope pointed at the moon, he won't be able to teleport to the moon. similarly, if he's looking through binoculars, he won't be able to teleport to a rooftop visible through them.
4. the desired location must be big enough for him to exist within it. 5. the desired location must be unoccupied by other entities.
6. the desired location must not be on fire. he cannot teleport into a spot occupied by fire, lightning, or other forms of plasma. 6.5 in addition to rule 6, the desired location cannot be underwater or underground.
7. he must be able to clearly envision himself in that location. if he's in a fight and his mind is scattered, or he can't think straight, he automatically cannot utilize warp. this quirk lives and dies by his ability to focus.
8. he cannot bring other entities with him to the desired location. 9. he can automatically bring items attached to his person, such as clothing, with him to the desired location.
10. he cannot bring other items not directly attached to his person with him if they would not be able to fit in either one hand curled into a fist, or covered completely by both hands. if he can't hide it in his hands, he can't take it with him. 11. per rule 10, he must be able to cover the item completely with no visible parts of it. flashdrives, for example, would be fine, as would a slightly large paperweight if he uses both hands. however, a football or helmet would not be applicable since he cannot cover those items with his hands.
12. per rule 6 and 6.5, the desired location can be in the air. however, it's on him to keep his reactions swift enough to not fall on his face. 13. every usage of his quirk causes his muscles to cramp. repeated usages in a short span of time can cause his entire body to enter a temporary state of paralysis. per rule 12, this prevents him from his quirk to emulate flight.
14. his emotions can impact how he utilizes warp; if he's too angry, upset, or excited, his quirk will function without his directive, causing him to warp wherever he's looking.
15. momentum is carried with him when he teleports, but is not amplified. this is to say if he's running and warps, he'll have the same stride going when he reappears. 16. he can teleport through objects or individuals who may be in the way as long as he can see his desired location and it follows the standards set forth by the above rules. this is to say that, in theory, he can teleport through a door if he can see a spot where he could stand through the key-hole.
[attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]𝕊𝕂𝕀𝕃𝕃𝕊 SKILL NAME: WASP STYLE SKILL RANK: C SKILL DESCRIPTION: he knows how to throw a mean punch. maybe not as great as it could be, but he's got the basics of this whole fighting thing down - at least, as far as he's concerned. even without his suit or his quirk, he's still damn good at hand-to-hand combat... though he usually has an easier time dealing real damage with his shit on. SKILL NAME: PRODIGY ENGINEERING SKILL RANK: C SKILL DESCRIPTION: maybe he's not a prodigy by u.a's standards, but the fact of the matter is that he's pretty damn smart compared to the average person - especially when it comes to engineering. not only did he already make himself easily disguised and efficient gear, but he's determined to keep improving his arsenal and engineering skills.... and hey, if other people need help from him, maybe he can help with that too.
