Reason or meaning of name: In game, her first name was chosen because her mother said Crystal "lit up like a diamond in the light" when her mother first held her and her middle name was her Aunt's name (on her father's side). She also took her

In meta, Her name comes from Greek word χρυσός (Chrysos) meaning gold but also κρύσταλλος (krystallos) which means ice or icy. The first meaning is more tied to her family quirk but the second meaning is a little closer to personality of appearing cold and distant. Rose was chosen as an homage to the rose vine like grooving on her metal skin when she uses her quirk. Isaacs was chosen as an homage to Isaac Newton due to his famed love of alchemy and the occult as well as his diverse knowledge of the physical sciences.

A small town full of small minded people, most who toiled in a lead mine that had been practically dried up for decades. My father was hired to work for the mining company as a geologist. They basically paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars just to ignore what he said. But who could blame him for not trying harder to rock the boat when the whole town relied on those mines to stay active and he was able to provide for me and my mom...
When I was 6, our house collapsed. My mother was out getting groceries, but my father and I were trapped inside. There was fire and broken pipes spewing water as the house continued to crumble inwards. All of the exits had been crushed shut, so there was nothing to do but try to hide in something that might survive until help came... We had a metal chest, one of those emergency fire safes. It wasn't very big, but then again even at 6 neither was I. My father put me inside the chest, told me to be a big brave girl until the heroes came to save us, and then closed the door over me. Even inside that box, I could hear him outside it saying 'The heroes will be here... the heroes are coming...'. For what was probably an hour: 'The heroes are coming... the heroes will save you...' Then there was a big crash and everything went quiet. I cried and screamed until my throat was hoarse, but no response and no movement from the chest. 4 hours later, sound and light found me as the box was opened. I was lifted out of the debris that was our house by a fireman who was shocked to find me safe and alive. They took me to my mother who clung to me and sobbed, but I just wanted to know where my father was. Even through my weak raspy voice I finally asked and was told that he didn't make it. My father knew he couldn't lock the chest or I'd suffocate, and he couldn't just leave it loose or it might get knocked open and crush me ways. So he used himself to hug it shut just enough. He had the same quirk as me, so he was able to make it through the first hour of all of it, but when the house finally gave way fully... well. He was the hero that he kept saying would come, but never did."
