Despite his flashy appearance, he carries himself in a lackadaisical manner. He moves as if he’s in no rush to reach his destination, and that’s because he rarely is. Time is meaningless to someone who doesn’t need to sleep. Other than improving his quirk to expand his playing field, there’s not much else for him in terms of goals. Ambition is something he lacks severely, he has to be convinced to do anything beyond lazing around. That being said though, it’s easy to persuade him to be involved in something.
The man is naive to the outside world, his view of it only coming from TV and internet up until he was able to leave his apartment. He’s never had contact with people beyond his roommates and their guests so anyone he comes across is met with an easy grin and compliance to their every whim. He’s not a total lost cause however.
Taro loves to learn. No, really, he soaks up knowledge like a sponge and his memory is surprisingly impressive. Years of being trapped has made him inquisitive of the world and people around him, which can lead to some uncomfortable questions due to his lack of tact. He’s like a child with how mesmerized he is with everything around him.
Overall he just goes with the flow. Without any need for sustenance, he’s not tied down to the motions of a capitalist society, so he’s free to do whatever he pleases as far as he’s concerned.

With a tall athletic build, pointed ears and crystals protruding out of parts of his body, Taro looks like he was pulled right out of a videogame. His jagged horn and tail makes him easy to pick out in a crowd but they’re also just short enough to hide with a good enough disguise. Something to note though is he can’t remove his current outfit due to the nature of his quirk, which consist of a distinct jacket and leather pants among other things. He can layer a coat on top or wear a hat, but his base clothes must remain no matter what. Also distinct is his tattoo of a snake and skull, which covers the entirety of his left arm.
Taro’s appearance in general cannot change at this stage. His hair will always be navy, his eyes always auburn, and no amount of time under the sun will give him a tan. Not even the elements can alter it; neither snow nor rain will stick to him. He has no sense of hygiene but it’s only because he doesn’t need it at all, as he’s incapable of accumulating grime. Who brushes their teeth in a game anyway?
[div][attr="class","taro-title"]HISTORY[/div] If Taro were to be asked what his childhood was like, he would mention that life in general started when he woke up at the age of seven in an apartment, to people he’d never met in his life. This was only half-true, but given the nature of his quirk, it was believable enough.
The whole truth would involve him being born in an apartment complex due to a mother’s debilitating fear of hospitals, them moving out of the country for a new life and Taro’s quirk manifesting on the plane ride there, causing him to blink out of existence as the rules of his mutation were thrust upon him. He lost his life, and as a result he respawned back in his old home, with a new name as his original one had been forgotten. But you know, no one really likes hearing one talk about their death and permanently losing connection with their family.
For a time he was stuck in the apartment, its new residents begrudgingly letting him stay as he literally couldn’t leave. He was good at staying out of their way due to his lack of need for food or water, but over the years they’d come together anyway by proximity, with his roommates turned guardians teaching him basic skills as he couldn’t learn in school. Said guardians would work to pay rent, while he stayed in to take care of chores. It was a mutually beneficial relationship.
The knowledge that he was trapped within the walls of the unit was still on his mind though. It was likely he was never going to get out. That is, until he accidentally dropped a glass one day and heard a ping in his head after it shattered to a million pieces.
It was at that moment when he finally understood the game he’d been forced to play.
With the other residents away, Taro decimated the apartment. Broken chairs, bashed desks, torn paper. Whatever was breakable, he destroyed. Even items that were thought to be durable didn’t last when he truly put his mind to it. The only things that were kept intact were the permanent fixtures like the windows and door. Features that belonged to the landlord rather than the inhabitants who rented the place.
Eventually he stopped to test the one reason he went through the all the hassle. One step outside the door was all he needed to know he was free. He packed everything he could in a bag and fled, with no destination other than [i]away[/i]. Taro was eventually met with another barrier outlining the city borders but it was fine. He had the whole city to explore now, and he knew how to extend his reach. He simply needed to level up his quirk again.
And as far as he knew, destruction gave the most experience.
[div][attr="class","taro-title"]ITEMS[/div] [b]Spray paint cans[/b] - Graffiti has become a sort of hobby when he discovered it counted towards his game. Vandalism in the form of art, how nice.

Taro is, in a sense, not real. A being of hard light instead of flesh and blood, he is a playable character in his own game of life. Taro has the following traits of a video game character: [ul type="disc"][li]He no longer ages, and can't eat, drink or sleep. Sustenance matters not in his game.[/li][li]He can't die. Well, he can, but whenever he does he respawns in his birthplace: an apartment in Tokyo.[/li][li]He has a health bar of 100. Any damage he receives knocks down this bar instead of give him injuries. This number is dictated at the time of the hit, which is larger the harder and more direct it is.[/li][li]He incurs the same amount of damage no matter where he’s hit. There’s no bonus points for headshots when it comes to him. In the same vein, punching his arm will be like punching his face.[/li][/ul]
[div][attr="class","taro-ability-title"]DRAWBACKS[/div] You'd think you'd be perfect if you're always in peak condition without ever getting tired. You'd be wrong. [ul type="disc"][li]Despite being digital, he's still a solid being and can be pushed down and knocked back as such.[/li][li]His mutation has an adverse reaction to magnetism and pure electricity. His body turns to static in the presence of either, and his balance and senses become compromised until he gets away from the source.[/li][li]He also glitches out when he receives damage, which gets more severe the harder the hit is.[/li][li]He can't leave his play area, which currently only encompasses Tokyo.[/li][li]He's severely weakened without his quirk. GAME ON! HP: ▰▰▰▰▰▰▱▱▱▱ 55/100 So there was a limit to the explosiveness of these things regardless. Which was fair, you could only fit so much fuel into the head of the weapons, and it wasn't like someone could just refill it while it was in use. That would just be too convenient. Dropping his used up hammer to the floor - with the head crushing someone's hand in the process - Taro had a choice to make. An important one too, given the fact that taking one would mean losing the chance to use the other. Really he was just surprised that Retsu wasn't afraid of the chance that whatever she was left with might blow up in her face. So maybe he should take the one that was more blow-up-in-your-face-y since he comes back whenever he dies. Thing was, he couldn't judge by looks anymore. The biggest hammer he picked up was a one and done deal. The most unassuming was the most reliable in terms of boom factor. So really, choice was an illusion and he might as well do a coin flip. Taro crouched to dig into one of the guard's pockets, smiling once he procured said coin. Standing again, he balanced it on his thumb. "Heads say I take the one on your right." He flicked. The coin whirled around until it clattered to the ground. "Heads." Even luck wanted him to have the videogame-y hammer. Go figure. Once it was in his hands, the digital being sent her a two finger salute. "Will do boss. I'll take what I can and catch up with you." Another door was kicked and he made his way through, grinning as the footsteps came closer. "Have fun."

GAME ON! HP: ▰▰▰▰▰▰▱▱▱▱ 55/100 The way Taro operated in these fights was pretty simple. If he was hit, he'd hit back. If he wasn't targeted, he didn't bother to make a move. Much like an RPG, he wasn't a threat until he was engaged with, all because of some advice he heard once about never becoming the aggressor. Make crossing him a mistake or something. He didn't quite understand it as acting first would yield a bigger result in his eyes but he saw no reason to change how he played.
Thing was, he just got shot, meaning he was good to react to it. Retsu did want him to test his hammer more either way.
Pushing himself up once his body stabilized, the digital being raced forward, hands gripping his hammer tightly as he swung it towards one of the guards' chest. Another resounding boom sounded. While it didn't rock the place since it connected with human instead of concrete, it still sent the man flying to the wall.
Another shot to his shoulder. It was the second guard, quaking in her boots, likely afraid of meeting the same fate as her coworker. Well she shouldn't be shooting if that was the case.
Oh well. Her mistake.
Taro jabbed the handle of his hammer into the guard's stomach before he turned to bring its head down on her head, knocking her to the floor. No explosion this time. "Aw. Think it's out of juice," he'd comment, showing no signs of remorse towards either of the bodies he disposed of. "Loot's probably through the door though."

GAME ON! HP: ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▱▱▱ 70/100 Taro gave a thumbs up at his boss' answer. "Roger dodger. Maybe if we break enough walls the whole building will cave in." In reality it was unlikely. The place was big and the holes he was making were isolated. He would need a bigger boom if he wanted the structure to collapse in on itself. Granted, probably preferable if his allies weren't inside when that happened.
He could wait til they got out to really go wild on the place.
So his destruction remained tactical-ish for now. Taro accepted the hammer trade from the bomb expert and tossed his second dud to the lackey. "Gotcha," he affirmed, and unlike Retsu's disinterest he waved at who he assumed were the some of the place's guards. "Sup. Just passing through, don't worry about us." With that greeting done he walked past them, one of the guards screaming when he accidentally stepped on their leg buried under the rubble. "Oop, sorry."
Wielding the experimental weapon in hand, Taro whacked the next wall in line with it. The explosion was instant and the device itself stayed in one piece. His interest piqued, he quickly moved through the hole and broke the following barrier as well. He smiled as he looked at the hammer. "This one's got potential."
Then two shots rang and Taro's body turned to static, causing him to trip on the debris in his instability. "W-we also got-t company." Actual moving company, in the form of two more guards with guns raised. They were lucky in their position to avoid most of the blast unlike their coworkers.
Wack.

GAME ON! HP: lmao. Taro didn't know what kind of pink hair the cat person was talking about, but the guy they pulled with them sure didn't have any. But then they left him behind to leap in the air, grabbing the real ball as it came down. "Nice catch."
As they passed it back to the duo though, the grunt did notice no one was going to catch the cat as they fell to the floor. He couldn't do it; he needed to help prevent the ball from blowing up. In any case, cats landed on their feet right? But this was a human cat. Who was nice enough to give him that can of soda even though it sucked. They might not be cat-like enough to land on their feet. And bird guy seemed to want them to live to. So sure, he could do them a favour. "Nah, they'll be fine. I got it."
He looked between his robot dog and the man Khepri brought with them. The man's eyes seemed to widen in realization as Taro smiled. "Sparky? Chase." The automaton barked at the man before it started running, herding the stranger towards the cat person. If they were lucky, the guy was going to break their fall.
Speaking of luck though, Taro heeded bird man's words and juggled the balls between them. He wasn't even much of a juggler usually, but he guessed the threat of exploding let one pick up some new skills under pressure. Unfortunately, he lost track of which one was real as well. And by the time they reached the plinth, both orbs were in his arms.
Taro looked to his temporary partner in crime. "Hey- I didn't keep track of which one was real. So I just wanted to say it was nice knowing ya." With those parting words, he placed one of the orbs on the stand.
Fingers crossed it was the right one. OOC: Taro uses WatchDog v1 to chase Khepri's buddy towards them in the hopes that they would land on the guy so he broke their fall. While that happens, he passes the two balls between himself and Chirp, eventually losing track of which one was real as well. He just puts a random one on the plinth and hopes for the best. GAME ON! HP: lmao. "Good robo dog." Taro gave more pets to the deserving pup as he retrieved the orb from it. Now... what should he do with it exactly? It's not like it's the real one- at least he didn't think it was if that [True Orb] call from that one woman was any indication before she went boom. Oh well. He lobbed it away from himself, making sure it hit another competitor in the head so they had a chance to- explode since they couldn't catch it afterwards. Oops.
Oh hey. It's bird guy. And cat girl. "Taro is me. Cool that you know my name already, that makes this planning stuff a lot easier," he remarked with a nod. Granted he only knew Khepri's name just now and not bird guy's, but at least bird guy was a better moniker to call a stranger than for himself to be called human. "I like Illinois James. I like the part where he got chased around by a ball."
And speaking of a ball, bird guy was holding one. "Oh yeah. We should pass that to each other so it doesn't explode on the way there. Just follow us for now Sparky." With another pet for the good dog, Taro followed Chirp to the plinth, making sure to keep the ball from blowing up. OOC: He got the ball from his dog but remembered it's not the real one, so he throws it away to an unfortunate contestant. Seeing Chirp and Khepri group with him again, he follows Chirp to the plinth, assuming they're passing Chirp's ball to each other on the way there. GAME ON! HP: lmao. As the other guy who misunderstood the assignment (read: never knew there was one in the first place), Taro fell straight after the Chirp did. Unfortunately though, unlike Chirp, he didn't have anything to catch himself with. So all he could do was crash on two robots that would cushion his fall. Except they didn't make good cushions. The fall hurt like hell.
With a wheeze, the now-human pushed himself off the pile and his eyes locked on a ball that was about to join him. Reflexes he was actually able to train was the only reason he caught it. Watching the other man swing around unaware of the motion sickness he was feeling, Taro whistled for his attention. "Yo! You dropped this." Whether bird dude acknowledged him or not, the grunt would throw the ball up at him anyway.
That wasn't the only potential bomb he had to watch out for. As the announcer mentioned something about poison which prompted him to cover his nose with his shirt - would that even work? He usually saw people had gas masks on to avoid that sorta thing - Taro caught up with his robot dog, who seemed so happy with its catch it was ignoring the cat robot also on the scene.
He clicked his tongue. "Oi, pick on someone else." He placed a slapsticker on the cat before focusing on his companion by petting it on the scruff of its neck. "Alright bud, give it to me." More pets before he held his hand under its mouth. Here's hoping the ball lands in it before he loses it. OOC: Following Chirp was a mistake so he falls on a bunch of robo cops. He catches Chirp's ball though so he throws it back at him. He sees the robot cat bothering his dog so he slaps a slapsticker on it in hopes that it would stay away, before trying to coax the dog to let go of the ball it caught. GAME ON! HP: lmao. So. Taste, right? Animals had the ability to taste things so instinct would carry them into not eating some foods because it tasted bad. It was a defense mechanism; a way to protect the body from ingesting something that couldn't be digested, would cause illness or otherwise endanger it in some way. Taro, now as a human, could experience what it was like to taste something.
And man, the soda tasted like shit.
He spat out the beverage in a spray, and it was just about the most expressive thing he's ever done. "Yikes. Does everything taste like this?" Was everything terrible and humans just got used to it? Or was the whole defense thing a lie? Now he had even more reason to return to never having to do that again.
Unfortunately, the spray covered a fellow contestant in his spit, and they were not happy about it. Man, he could actually relate now. Not as relatable however was the fist coming his way. Taro dodged to the side as it whiffed past his hair before throwing a couple Quackers so they stuck on the person's back. "Can't stay sorry. We're still playing." With that he headed out the door and away from the future honkening.
The cop bots were milling about, so the simple course of action was to follow the bird mask stranger's lead, climbing the tiles they placed two steps at a time. A friend stayed on the ground though. Taro whistled for his companion. "Yo Sparky? Fetch." Hopefully Sparky was fast and agile enough to catch a ball and throw it up to him before it exploded. Real or not, pets didn't deserve such a death. OOC: Spits out his drink which hit another contestant. He dodges a hit before sticking two Quackers on them and leaving. GAME ON! HP: â–°â–°â–°â–°â–°â–°â–°â–°â–°â–° 100/100 Soundproofed walls made sense. Had they broken into any other part of the building instead, they would surely be found out immediately. "We picked a good spot to head in then. Think we'll use the same one to go out or nah?" Taro was hoping for a nah. A nah meant he could make holes in more walls. They'd be more likely to get chased down, but at least they'd be on their way out instead of in.
The digital being didn't expect such a simple answer to his question from her. Usually he'd get a speech when he delved into the origin of someone's interests; maybe a whole life story about how she got a grenade when she was a wee child. But no, it's only because she's good at it.
Taro liked simple though. It's the same reason why he got into demolition. "I'm good at breaking shit. Guess that's why I'm into it."
He decided not to think about how he still didn't get the supposed high you should get from doing what you "loved".
Instead he followed Retsu's orders and moved ahead, eventually swinging his hammer on another wall. Except this time it didn't explode. He swung a second time. Third. Fourth- okay, there was the blast he was expecting, rocks flying to the opposite side of the next room. "This one took a bit, but it got there."

GAME ON! HP: lmao. People were already dropping like flies. The shots were lethal after all, which only prompted Taro to run faster so he didn't get hit by any of them. Which was a partial success; a bullet clipped his arm, prompting a hiss. For the first time, there was blood.
He could feel the tug of his temporary partner's arm behind him, wondering briefly if he had other plans and they should go somewhere else. Then he spoke about letting him go. Why didn't he say that earlier? "Oh, okay." He unfurled his fingers, expecting the guy to pull his arm away.
But that didn't happen. Well, it did, but he felt his own arm tug at the movement. It prompted him to pull as well, which eventually led to the realization that the squishy feeling was glue. They were stuck together. For better or worse.
Worse for the other guy really, Taro was at his weakest right now. "You were forced here? That sucks. I just wanted to destroy shit so I don't care about winning either." A shrug. "I can try to keep you alive, but I usually do that by distracting someone and dying first. Can't do that now without my Quirk so..."
He dug into his pocket for some of the stickers he was given at the start. "Just have to make do I guess. Winning's the only thing we can do now." The non-digital being stuck three stickers on three contestants' legs as they passed by them, hoping a trip up would slow them down. If Chirp's teleporter thingy brought them to the cat person's side despite being stuck together, he'd totally take an offered can for himself.
Might as well learn what drinking's like while he's here. OOC: Agrees to Chirp's team up but admits he can't do much. But he uses 3 slapstickers on 3 bozos heh. Will also take a soda can from Khepri if Free Skipper works! Jinx CHIRP ♪♪ Mafdet Khepri smileyj

GAME ON! HP: lmao. You know, Taro thought he was going to have fun. An underground challenge? Where he could not only break people's face - not that he was excited about that, it just seemed par for the course with these things - but he could potentially break the terrain as well? And while that wasn't the main goal either, it was an option he had. He was fond of options. Options that, if chosen, would help him level up and see the world.
Though the whole no Quirks thing was a memo he missed.
He wasn't unrecognizable without his, but he was different. The clothes remained but his horns and tail were gone. His hair lost its navy sheen. His eyes dulled from its auburn hue, becoming as black as his hair. Even his tattoo faded away to reveal his unaltered skin instead. If it weren't for his clothes, Taro would've just looked like a regular human being.
And he was one now. His eyes stung when he forgot to blink. His chest hurt when he forgot to breathe. He could sense his legs strain from standing upright; feel the weight of the bombs that were given to him, as those fancy menus were another thing he missed out on apparently.
A nasty cough forced his way through him and he covered his mouth with his arm. Something whimpered at his side. Right- that was another thing he got. A robot dog, realistic as it was, pressed its head against his leg. He wished he was fake like it again if human existence was like this.
But at least the other people here were nice. Good lucks were exchanged, and someone in a bird mask even offered a high-five. Taro clapped his hand against it. The sticky sensation furrowed his brow, promptly weirding him out. He tried to smile regardless. "Good luck."
Then shots were fired, and something told him he'd actually get hurt this time.
The high-five turned into a grasp of the stranger's hand as Taro pulled the man after him. Humans were squishy. They were in this together now. He whistled at his metal companion. "Sparky? You're Sparky now. Get the guns." If it's able to hear its commands, it would hopefully head to a target different from the white-haired stranger and rip the machines to shreds.
All he and his new friend had to do was find cover.
