Ah, a hero! Or at least related to heroes. Those definitely are not part of the usual clientele at the Stingray. If a hero shows up here, they either are looking for someone who's hiding at the bar or they are not the cleanest hero in the world. Either way, a hero usually meant something annoying was going to happen, especially with the "No arrests" policy the bar has. Zane mostly put in place when one too many heroes broke a chair or two. Regardless, as long as their job did not get into Hoshi's way, she did not care what her clients did.
"Marinated shrimp? Got it." Placing a order in the kitchen via the network, she pushed a button under the bar that would slowly reveal a built in grill in front of Mai. "Heroics you say?" Hoshi would remark, starting another drink for Mai. "Agency work or you teach at that fancy University?" Hoshi would ask, shaking the drink in the mixer, occasionally glancing at the the little order tracker that was displaying across her eye. With a little ping, Hoshi excused herself for a second, grabbing a plate of shrimp, and a couple side dishes (Kimichi, sunomono, bean sprout salad and a miso soup). Placing them in front of Mai, she gave a small bow. Remembering she was still was making a drink for Mai, Hoshi quickly served the Fluffy Dream as well.
"So, Zane, the owner of this bar, has a habit of going to the local markets and just browsing for things she might fancy putting on the menu for a couple days. Usually it's something hyper seasonal or local to where she or I'm from. I think today it's Pacific Oysters? No sure, but I can ask if you are interested." Usually, Hoshi would let newcomers know whatever Zane was cooking up. Didn't want a newbie fall into a super spicy Korean noodle dish when they were thinking they were getting soba or ramen.

Hoshi examined the ID that was given to her. Nothing out of the ordinary but she had to be sure. Activating the scanning part of her eye, Hoshi verified the ID. A little ping went off in her brain that confirmed the ID was legit. Handing the ID back to Rin, she mulled over some drink options before deciding on the Sparkle Star for Rin. "So what brings you here, Rin?" Hoshi would ask, pouring some gin into and cherry liquor into her drink shaker. Another perk of asking for a ID is that she could read the name of the person she was serving. Saves a step in familiarizing herself with a patron. Starting the shaking process, while starting the music with her network link. The fist song that sprung on was Mixed Nuts by Momo and the Golden Bazookas. Grinning a little, Hoshi would ask "So, you listen to the Golden Bazookas? I know HoloStar talks about all their talents being equal at their company but we all know that they are their golden child." Hoshi would smirk a little, pouring the orange drink into a Poco Granda glass. Shaking over some sparkling pop rocks, she slid the cherry lemonade tasting drink to Rin. "Are you going to start a tab or you paying now?" Hoshi would ask, entering the drink into the register behind her. |

Yeah. That's the sort of reaction she expected. A tapeworm is one of the least appetizing things she ever had the displeasure of consuming. At least it didn't scare the customer away, so that's a plus. She'd had given shots before that made people flee the bar almost instantly. Almost instantly meaning, they had the manners to pay at least. She didn't want Zane pulling her gun on a customer again. That would be less than ideal. Zane and guns didn't matter at this time though. She had a customer to serve and to chat up.
"Ah, work near by, eh?" Hoshi would remark, taking both empty glasses and putting them into the small tray of dirty glasses she washes throughout the night. Making another Fluffy Dream, Hoshi focused in a little more on her customer. "What type of work you do? Must not pay so well if you end up here." Hoshi laughed a bit, shaking the drink shaker. The Stingray wasn't a expensive place to drink or eat. It served its purpose as a "pillar" of the community. Or at least that's what Zane called it. Not sure it was true with all of the yakuza around but who is she to judge. She works here after all.
"One Fluffy Dream. Can I interest you in some food? These drinks do hit a little harder on a empty stomach." Hoshi would suggest before grabbing the TV remote. A gaggle of locals would come by to watch a baseball game. As she turned on the TV, an ad would play 'The Bank of Hojo-Nakamura. Hojo's and your trusted banking partner!'. "Hope you like baseball. It's Yakult Swallows game day." Hoshi would remark, watching some regulars walk into the bar.

Pass by the Stingray from time to time and look like that? Either she was a local of the area or was living in the cheaper apartments available in the neighborhood. At least based on the looks of the "kid" in front of her, she had to be of early college age. People don't tend to wander into on the Stingray unless they got a recommendation or know someone who knows someone who knows someone. That or they were some sort of criminal (affectionate). Either way, she definitely will have to see some ID. No underage drinking on her watch!
Taking out a glass from beneath the counter, she placed it in front of Rin. Taking out the water jet, she poured Rin a glass of water. A water of pondering one might say. She wasn't going to kick out Rin if she was underage. As long as she was above the age of 18, she didn't care. "Before we get ahead of ourselves. Could I see some ID?" Hoshi sounded very polite with her request. Underage people often though they would get past her watchful eyes. They would get passed Zane. She didn't give a shit.
"The drinks we offer aren't beginner drinks so I can give you something fun and simple." Hoshi would add, offering a reassuring smile. She knows not everyone was as socially adept as her.

Hoshi didn't recognise her first customer. That could either be a good or a bad thing. Bad thing if the person ended up being the health inspector. Bad if it was someone looking for Zane. Neither options were preferable but they were rare enough that Hoshi made those thoughts leave her mind. New people come to the Stingray all the time. New customers is who keeps store alive. Or at least, that's what Zane says.Regardless, new person, new order.
Hoshi nodded, letting the bar shaker fly into her hand. "One Fluffy Dream, coming right up!" Hoshi would say, doing her usual drink making theatrics with her shaker. Fluffy Dream was a pleasant drink. Very fruity and generally very approachable. Hoshi would indulge in them from time to time. She preferred less juicy drinks but she doesn't judge for people for liking them. "So, how are you doing tonight? I don't think I recognise ya. New to the area?" Hoshi would ask, shaking the drink as she spoke.
Dropping three limes into a Hurricane glass, she poured the tropical green drink into the glass. Adorning it with a slice of lime on the rim, she placed the drink in front of Mai. Mai would probably like this drink. She definitely would not enjoy the mystery shot. The Mystery shots were on a rotating menu that Zane determined with the "input" of Hoshi. Today's shot was a tapeworm. Grimacing a bit at the thought, she decided to make two so Hoshi could commiserate with Mai.
Combing 1 parts Tabasco, 1 parts Vodka in a shot glass, with a squirt of mayonnaise is evil. Pouring the red fluid into two shot glasses, she placed on one in front of Mai and one in front of herself. She pulled out the bottle of mayonnaise she kept in the small fridge below her before slowly squirting the mayonnaise to create a worm like look in the glass. "You don't have to drink that if you don't want to." Hoshi would say before downing her shot.
Holy fuck, it's awful. Hoshi grimaced a bit before giving a slight cough. Drinking hot sauce is awful.

Ah. It's going to be one of those nights. Hoshi's smile didn't fall away but that's just the sort of professional she was. The most important duty of a bartender is to not be judgmental and never be rude to customers unless the warrant it. Another tenant was offer advise when it's warranted. Or unwarranted. That was customer dependent. Ruri was one of those that would get advise regardless if it was warranted or not. Everyone had their vices. Hoshi had her own. Like gatcha games and collecting exotic guns from Hojo. The second hobby was a little more destructive.
"Right. Remind me how much you owe? My brain ship is probably fried. I can ask Zane how much you owe or you can give me a good tip." Hoshi laughed a little before starting the drink order for Ruri. Sparkle Star. Her name sake Hoshi guess. Hoshi was familiar with enough vigilantes seeing as she was one.
"I reckon that's Raiden." Hoshi muttered, doing a curt nod towards the direction of Nobu. Very rarely do such well dressed gentlemen come to the bar that aren't yakuza. "At least that's a well educated guest." She winked before putting in the order for the food. Serving the drink with a small flourish before adding "Food will be out in a couple minutes. Give Zane some time to cook things up."

"No complaints." Hoshi would say, pulling the her bar shaker towards her. Pouring the drink ingredients into the shaker, she wondered who her customer ones. He wasn't a regular or someone she's seen around the area. Not that she can blame him, he looked a bit too nice dressed and was covered in tattoos to be yakuza. Regardless, not her business. People don't come to the Stingray to be judged, at least vocally. Hoshi will judge her customers all she wants, especially if they make shitty drink choices. Not that the Pile Driver is super awful. It's usually a drink for people that wanted to get drunk but not super fast. A bit too bitter for her tastes but oh well.
Shaking the drink with a ice cube, Hoshi did her usual tricks with her shaker. Spinning it in her hand, tossing it between both hands, and giving it intermittent shakes. Pile driver was a drink she didn't want to agitate too much. "So what brings you here tonight? Long day at the office?" Hoshi would ask, making some small talk before finishing the drink.
Pouring it into a whisky glass. It had a distinctive orange colour, mostly having the appearance of a whisky. It mostly still tasted like the whisky but had a added coffee flavour certain customers prefer. She finishes the drink with a small bit of lemon peel before sliding the man his drink."Want to open a tab or pay now?" Hoshi would ask before a more familiar face would enter the bar.
"Seeing as I'm the only bartender, no." Hoshi grinned a bit before starting Mar's drink order. She preferred the Suplex over the Pile Driver. It was a little more old fashioned adjacent with a little more of a peachy taste. "Eh, not the greatest. Zane's usual guy was sick so we had to buy from somewhere else. How's your day been, Mar-san?" Hoshi would ask, pouring Mar her drink. Adding the little garnish of cherry and the sprinkling of Aleppo pepper on the top, Hoshi slid the drink over to Mar.

"Slow day."
Hoshi could hear Maiko mutter as she passed her behind the bar. Hoshi smirked a little but she knew it hadn't been the best day at the bar. There was some crime that happened a few blocks down and people were scared on going down the street. It was handled already but it wasn't handled by people that most would like. Hoshi didn't really care as, she carried a gun and there were enough Yakuza around the bar that people tend to not mess with them. She remembered shooting some wannabe villain trying to mug her with his little fire quirk. It was rather funny to her. Kid survived so it's not like she loses any sleep over it.
Taking a sip from her drink, she noticed the little voice clip play when someone enters the bar. Hoshi happened to be below the bar, changing out some barrels for the beer when she heard the voice clip. She didn't immediately pop up as she thought it was Zane coming back from her smoke break and forgetting the key to the back entrance. When she heard the voice though, her ears perked up a little.
Standing up, she waved at the girl that had entered. "If you're a first timer, why not pop a squat right here." Hoshi would say, motioning at the bar seats. Taking a cup, she poured some water for Rin before saying "Welcome First timer. What brings you here?"

'Welcome to the Stingray!' A recorded voice of some vtuber echoed through the sparsely populated bar and restaurant. According to Hoshi's boss, it was some girl named Penny. A regular of theirs's. Only three or so tables were currently occupied as the bar hadn't officially opened for the night. Only the restaurant was open and it was a week day. The bar got more crowded around 7 or 8, depending on the weather. Usually fully of people who work in or around the San'ya area, especially those who are located close to the Stingray. Hoshi was dressed in her usual bar attire, sans the apron as she usually kept that at work. Waving one of the regulars, Hoshi slid behind the bar and went into the kitchen. Grabbing her apron, she scanned her finger and she was officially clocked in. Another day, another shift. Being the only bartender at the Stingray had its perks. It meant that she got to pick the tunes that played at the bar for one. It really was the only perk, at least according to her boss. Something that wasn't a perk, however, was the 6 PM to 4 AM shift. Yeah, the bar closed at 3 AM but she usually had to help Zane clean up the last few things after they closed. Hard to clean up the bar when you still had people clamoring for a Gut Punch or whatever hero, cop, or someone less savory wanted. Stretching a little, she stepped out from the employee room and behind the bar. Scanning her hand on a scanner below the bar counter, she officially opened the bar for the night. The music kicked in and the night has started. Pouring herself a water, she settled in for another long night and hopefully good tips. |

Fuck!Hoshi was bleeding. She was cutting some celery and other garnishes when she stabbed herself with a tomato knife. Thankfully, no one was sitting at the bar to have noticed. Currently, most patrons, all 6 of them were sitting at the BBQ tables. It was currently right after the main dinner rush so the vibe was a little more chill. It hasn't turned 9 PM yet. That's usually when the regulars would stream in. "You good?" Would a rather dry voice say behind her. It was her boss Zane, holding a small bandage at the ready. "Yeah, I'm fine." Hoshi would shrug, taking the bandage off her boss's hand. Wrapping it around her finger with the bandage, she waved her boss away. Zane didn't have to hang around, Hoshi was an adult after all. Zane mostly had to make sure that their cat mascot/pet wouldn't bother customers too much. Clicking her tongue, Hoshi set the playlist for the night. The Stingray wasn't exactly a nice bar. It was a bar for the low lives and the poor folk, it was in San'ya after all. The store front was run down and the inside didn't look much better. It was clean though. Everything was just sort of old. Drinks were good though. Very food. Cracking her knuckles, Hoshi got ready for another long night. |

Hoshi is a relatively approachable person. While at work, she is pretty outwardly friendly and willing to listen to most complaints. While it is technically part of her job, she does tend to care about her clients plights. With her job, she has to be compassionate to some extent. The bar manager often calls her a cheap psychologist who offers a good time. She is not a fan of that label. People tend to appreciate her dry humor that helps them make light of their situations. Hoshi is generally a night owl, sleeping during the day and being awake at night. In private, Hoshi can be very prickly and bitter. She has suffered a lot under the current Hero driven society. She enjoyed a pretty quiet life, growing up on a farm, she really didn't experience big city life or the dramatics of hero society. Her parents often told her that she would eventually move out like the rest of the kids in her small town. That's what everyone did. Hoshi did end up moving out but this wasn't by choice. Hoshi and her family were on a family trip near Osaka. When Hoshi was 10 years old, she was returning from a trip to Osaka when the train she was on was involved in a villain attack. During a station stop, a group of heroes were chasing a villain through the train station. This eventually led to a fight. This fight led into the main part of the train station. During this fight, the train Hoshi was on was entering the train station. It lead to a train derailment as the heroes and the villain collided with the train. During this train derailment, Hoshi's parents were among the victims of the crash. Hoshi, during this accident, ended up losing her hand. During the search and rescue, Hoshi was one of the last people rescued from the train. One of the main reason it took longer for Hoshi to be rescued was because she was buried by rubble near her parents bodies. She was eventually discovered by a search dog. After spending some weeks in the hospital, she was given a prosthetic hand. After her parents' deaths, Hoshi moved in with her eldest brother in Tokyo. Her brother was a minor hero who did menial tasks for a hero agency. He had ambitions of becoming a big shot hero so he rarely ever had time for Hoshi. Hoshi spent the rest of her youth barely seeing her brother and living in a shitty apartment. Eventually graduating high school, Hoshi was rather aimless. She would do odd jobs here and there, crashing on a friend's couch for a few weeks, move on, and repeat the cycle. Eventually, Hoshi ended up in Sen'ya, under the employment of the Stingray. Her quirk's benefits were revealed once she started working at the bar. With her quirk, she was able to get patrons what drink they exactly want. It made her extremely popular among the bar and she would eventually become the main bartender. Through her work, she would learn information and eventually use that information to let certain people know about potential crimes, hero power abuse, or other things that might be happening. It made her become a valuable underground source that usually serves those who do jobs society might frown upon. Her nose is especially sensitive to human pheromones and uses that to sense what mood someone might be in. She usually uses that sense of smell to determine what drink she might serve a customer. Her enhanced sense of smell allows her a increased awareness as she is able to detect smells and odors that can alert her to situations more readily (Ex: Being able to detect a small gas leak of a gas that has a very subtle odor). The quirk rank replaces her awareness stat. QUIRK DRAWBACKS: Due to the enhanced smell, she can get overwhelmed with strong odors in the air. This can often be very distracting to in more crowded areas, often leading to headaches.
