She hadn't been to The Stingray before, but she had seen it a few times. Rin didn't really go to bars much. Socializing was hard enough as it was, and every time she even thought much about drinking in public she started to fret and worry about if she might act like an idiot or make people upset or any number of things. On one hand she knew that was her being hard on herself, but on the other hand obnoxious drunk people did really exit and she really didn't want to be one.

She'd like to be able to say it was because she was working on expanding her comfort zone, but the truth was she'd just had a really, really bad day. A really bad week, and month, and year really. So, when she started to walk past it today for some reason she felt like actually going inside for once.

That impulsiveness didn't change that she peeked through the door when she opened it, or that she had her hands tucked together in front of her as she approached the central counter.

If nobody was there, or in a spot where she couldn't immediately see them, Rin would resign herself to just standing there awkwardly to wait for someone to appear. If someone was though, or when they did show up, she'd give a strained smile and a stiff little bow before asking: "Ah... this is my first time here, uhm..." She trailed off, quickly losing steam. What were you even supposed to do at a bar? Order drinks obviously, but how did you know what would be best to order? Maybe food would be easier?

"Slow day."

Hoshi could hear Maiko mutter as she passed her behind the bar. Hoshi smirked a little but she knew it hadn't been the best day at the bar. There was some crime that happened a few blocks down and people were scared on going down the street. It was handled already but it wasn't handled by people that most would like. Hoshi didn't really care as, she carried a gun and there were enough Yakuza around the bar that people tend to not mess with them. She remembered shooting some wannabe villain trying to mug her with his little fire quirk. It was rather funny to her. Kid survived so it's not like she loses any sleep over it.

Taking a sip from her drink, she noticed the little voice clip play when someone enters the bar. Hoshi happened to be below the bar, changing out some barrels for the beer when she heard the voice clip. She didn't immediately pop up as she thought it was Zane coming back from her smoke break and forgetting the key to the back entrance. When she heard the voice though, her ears perked up a little.

Standing up, she waved at the girl that had entered. "If you're a first timer, why not pop a squat right here." Hoshi would say, motioning at the bar seats. Taking a cup, she poured some water for Rin before saying "Welcome First timer. What brings you here?"

Even though it wasn't like the bartender had jumped up from behind the counter or anything, Rin gave a little start when she appeared anyways. Which was embarrassing, but at least the bartender being so friendly helped. A little, anyways. Taking a seat as instructed, sitting extra straight with her hands down at her knees and her feet close together - even though she was too short to touch the ground - it was clear just looking at her that she hadn't really sat at a bar before. Glancing at the bartender's face before almost immediately looking at the counter instead, the little laminated menus was a pleasant surprise. Not just because it gave her something to focus on, but because it meant she wouldn't need to ask for a menu either.

"Ah, I'm a First Timer yeah." She gave a little nod, slowly reading through the list. She was actually surprised by how much they had. She didn't know anything about alcohol that wasn't common knowledge or in manga or shows or so on. And usually those didn't go into much detail at all either. "Uhm, I pass by this place all the time and I've never come in so..." She trailed off, glancing away from the menu to look at the offered water. Obviously she should get a drink, but should she get food too? And which drink should she get? What if she didn't like it? "Do... you have any recommendations?"

She asked the question with a nervous laugh before trying to explain and starting to ramble. "I haven't really tried much alcohol before, so I don't really know what would be good or not. Uhm, not that anything you have wouldn't be good. I'm sure it's all really good! I just mean more, uhm, I don't know what I would like, I guess?"

Pass by the Stingray from time to time and look like that? Either she was a local of the area or was living in the cheaper apartments available in the neighborhood. At least based on the looks of the "kid" in front of her, she had to be of early college age. People don't tend to wander into on the Stingray unless they got a recommendation or know someone who knows someone who knows someone. That or they were some sort of criminal (affectionate). Either way, she definitely will have to see some ID. No underage drinking on her watch!

Taking out a glass from beneath the counter, she placed it in front of Rin. Taking out the water jet, she poured Rin a glass of water. A water of pondering one might say. She wasn't going to kick out Rin if she was underage. As long as she was above the age of 18, she didn't care. "Before we get ahead of ourselves. Could I see some ID?" Hoshi sounded very polite with her request. Underage people often though they would get past her watchful eyes. They would get passed Zane. She didn't give a shit.

"The drinks we offer aren't beginner drinks so I can give you something fun and simple." Hoshi would add, offering a reassuring smile. She knows not everyone was as socially adept as her.

"Ah, right, of course!" Rin laughed awkwardly, fumbling to retrieve her ID - looking just as nervous in the photo as she did in person, though the bags under her eyes were gone and her face was a bit fuller when it had been taken. It did clearly show she was old enough though, and Rin held it out awkwardly until the bartender either took it or gave some indication she could put it away again. Once she had, Rin glanced down at the counter until the bartender offered something 'fun and simple'?

Peeking up at the bartender and hesitantly returning the smile, she gave a little nod. "Uhm, I'd appreciate that."

She really would too - she didn't know anything about alcohol, or her own tolerance for it. For all she knew even something fun and simple would still be too much for her and she'd end up looking like an idiot. Or offending the bartender. Or both! Maybe she shouldn't have bothered coming in at all? But, why shouldn't she have? She'd wanted to check it out and... that was okay, wasn't it? Even though she wasn't voicing any of these thoughts, the way her shoulders hunched in and her eyebrows scrunched as she debated her own thoughts was pretty obvious to anyone looking at her.

Hoshi examined the ID that was given to her. Nothing out of the ordinary but she had to be sure. Activating the scanning part of her eye, Hoshi verified the ID. A little ping went off in her brain that confirmed the ID was legit. Handing the ID back to Rin, she mulled over some drink options before deciding on the Sparkle Star for Rin. "So what brings you here, Rin?" Hoshi would ask, pouring some gin into and cherry liquor into her drink shaker. Another perk of asking for a ID is that she could read the name of the person she was serving. Saves a step in familiarizing herself with a patron.

Starting the shaking process, while starting the music with her network link. The fist song that sprung on was Mixed Nuts by Momo and the Golden Bazookas. Grinning a little, Hoshi would ask "So, you listen to the Golden Bazookas? I know HoloStar talks about all their talents being equal at their company but we all know that they are their golden child." Hoshi would smirk a little, pouring the orange drink into a Poco Granda glass. Shaking over some sparkling pop rocks, she slid the cherry lemonade tasting drink to Rin.

"Are you going to start a tab or you paying now?" Hoshi would ask, entering the drink into the register behind her.
