GRAND DESIGN
HOSTED BY SOVEREIGN TECHNOLOGIES
Grand Design is a biannual tech demo hosted by Sovereign Technologies. While it is an event unto itself, its spring showcase is considered part of the Ikigai Haru Matsuri. Manufacturing characters are a huge focus of this event to show off their inventions and related skills either in display booths or as part of the competition to earn in character rewards and clout. However, there are plenty of opportunities for all sorts of stories to play out around Grand Design. Signups and more info can be found in the link below.

GRAND DESIGN
HOSTED BY SOVEREIGN TECHNOLOGIES
The What: Grand Design is a biannual tech demo hosted by Sovereign Technologies in a converted stadium in Tokyo. The spring season demo always coincides with the Ikigai Festival and is consider part of the festivities. In addition to flashy over-the-top showcases from the preeminent tech companies in Japan and a myriad display booths from smaller independent businesses and manufactures, a competition is hosted for solo inventors to highlight up-and-coming talent in the industry. Many of which come from UAU though participation in Grand Design is open to the public at large.
There will be one grand prize winner of ¥150,000 (a little over $1,000). Second place will receive ¥100,000 and third place will receive ¥50,000. The material cost for all inventions is also reimbursed ICly. The three winners may also arrange to sell the patent for their creations to any of the tech companies (NPC or PC run) that are participating. Additionally, they will also be offered a paid internship by Sovereign Technologies that they are free to take or refuse. Plus they earn the inherent IC clout associated with winning.
The Who: Grand Design is available to everyone, though the focus is primarily centered from an IC perspective on characters with a support focus in the form of manufacturing skills who participate in the competition.
Participants:
The How: Signup below by posting the character(s) you want involved and the role you're looking to fill; participant, judge, spectator, or other. If you don't already have people you plan to do stuff with for the festival then you can use the signup list as a sort of threat matchmaking service with other people that signup. While missions can't be done as part of the event to earn the bonus 1,000 EXP, this event does lend itself well to missions using content provided by Grand Design even without qualify for the bonus. Feel free to use it as reasoning behind manufacturing, heist, and other missions missions. However, if you choose to do heist related missions, then please contact me so I can give you details on what you would encounter during such a venture.
A main thread will be created by me for manufacturing participants to post up their invention and presentation. You can choose to do your creation in a separate thread or not, though if you want it to exist outside of the event, you'll need to run through the site system for item/gear creation as per usual and it should be within range of your manufacturing skill level either way. Sabotage may be arranged between players on entries if they so choose to run that kind of story though the sabotage should take place in a separate thread prior to presentation. After the main thread is sufficiently filled and a suitable amount of time has passed, those that are participating as judges will do a round of inspection before I announce the winner(s) based on their decisions via an NPC representing Sovereign Technologies. I will not be participating as a judge myself since I have a character in the competition.
If you wish to participate as a judge, your character should be a UAU professor, Pro Hero, or have a Civilian identity that is well known in the tech industry or in general. I'll give the judges a list of criteria to evaluate the entries on. No outright attacks from Villains (or Vigilantes) can take place during the active portion of Grand Design as it is heavily patrolled by police, private security, and pro Heroes. Any heists (or stopping of said heists) taking place will be after-hours when the public is not present and security is a little lighter.
OOC Notes: Any questions or ideas you have can be DMed to me on Discord (Samyah). If you want to participate, but aren't sure how, then please also feel free to reach out to me and we can brainstorm.

N O Y O T E
THE USUAL PLACE
Noyote is a hidden gem tucked away on a side street deep in the heart of Tokyo. It operates as a cafe open to all ages during daylight hours and a bar after dark to serve the night owl populace in the neon lit city that never sleeps. The owner and bartender is a retired Pro Hero. A man with deep skin, gold eyes, and an intimidating presence. He simply goes by Barkeep these days though his reputation from the glory days is more than enough to keep anything untoward from happening in his establishment as people from all walks of life are welcome within its walls.
The space itself is very warm and welcoming. Soft tunes provide ambient noise enriched by the murmur of quiet conversations. Rich wood tones accented by amber lights and dusky, but not dusty, bottles of brews and booze make what is actually a rather large space seem cozy and intimate. Tables and booths lean more toward seating small groups instead of large ones though the free standing setups can be pushed together to accommodate bigger parties in a pinch.
One wall at the back of the bar is covered floor-to-ceiling with pictures posted by patrons. A sign forged of black iron hangs above it displaying the business name. Someone has scribbled on the side of the wall in permanent marker, take a snap, leave a snap. Though no one ever actually takes a snap. It's taboo. Longtime regulars are quick to tell people that this note, however, was the origin for all of the pictures up there now though a few insist that there were pictures even before that. People are welcome to add new pictures to the wall as they make their own memories so that they can leave their mark behind for others to remember even after they're gone. One such picture is of three Nobodies with youthful faces taken at the beach with the scene behind them blurred by some sort of commotion. These faces, older now from the passage of time and the wear of life, still show up from time-to-time and take up the booth in the corner right by the wall.
It is the usual place after all.
OOC Notes: People are welcome to use Noyote freely in their own threads as a meetup spot for slice-of-life threads since it is a little nod to the history of FFJ itself. However, you may not participate in violent acts or damage the property in any way. Additional pictures can be added to the description if you DM me on Discord (Samyah). If you have questions or want to do something beyond slice-of-life, please reach out.

SOVEREIGN TECHNOLOGIES
THE REIGNING INNOVATORS OF PAST, PRESENT, & FUTURE
Sovereign Technologies is an international megacorporation at the top of the billion dollar technology, support gear, and medical equipment industry. They were established generations prior to the advent of Quirks, but adapted to the new landscape as superhuman powers became the new norm. Many of their contracts are with the government, but private investors with enough money also have ties to the company and their products.
Many people have at least one device or gadget in their homes or on their person that come from Sovereign Technologies making them a well-known household name. However, public scrutiny of the business came about at the end of the year 2096 when tests of a sleep apnea device from their branch in the United States caused mass casualties due to an undetected defect — including the CEO of the entire company, Kushiki Suki. The company paid out settlement after settlement in reparations to those that lost loved ones and the position of CEO was transferred back to the previous head of Sovereign Technologies, Kushiki Kazoku, while he trained the person next in line to take over, Kushiki Kioko. Due to events within the family, but outside the company, the title has instead been passed to Kazoku's youngest and only living child, Kushiki Suigetsu in the summer of 2097. Things have been uneventful since then outside of a few employees going missing in the year 2099. These missing person events have been deemed to not be connected by both the police and the company.
The main headquarters for Sovereign Technologies are located in Tokyo Bay as part of its varied industrial landscape. Its offices are spread out over an interconnected compound of structures representing the different parts of the business. These include Support Gear, Medical, Wares, Military, and R&D. Non-tech based sides of Sovereign Technologies includes Merchandising, Marketing, Security, Import/Export, and Legal. It is almost a miniature city until itself. Each edifice is designed and outfitted appropriately for their designated area of expertise, but the cohesive aesthetic embraces a sleek modern minimalism fused with extremely high-tech amenities.
OOC Notes: People are welcome to use Sovereign Technology as the placeholder manufacture in their profiles on the gear at creation or as the manufacture for day-to-day tech products they interact with in the world. They may also say that they intern for the company if they are students or say they work for the company if they are not. This does include Villains. However, you must have the relevant skills necessary to be hired, pass a background check on your Civilian identity, and conduct yourself properly while employed there or you would be fired. Please notify me should you choose to do this. You may also use the main offices as a location for your threads. However, you may not participate in violent acts or damage the property in any way and if you want to do more than slice-of-life, such as stealing information, getting someone else access to the grounds, or anything of that nature, you must ask me first. I also ask that you tag me in the first post of any thread taking place there so I can include anything of relevance from the thread in the lore going forward as this is a very prominent location and company to my character. If you have questions about things such as additional descriptions/NPCs or if you do want to do something beyond slice-of-life, please reach out to me on Discord (Samyah).

STEP INTO MY OFFICE
Chaotic Cursed ★ Half-Edgelord ★ Half-Troll ★ All Idiot
I'm Samyah, but you can call me Sam. We're all too lazy to type out the full thing. Discord name is also Samyah. That's my preferred form of contact if you want to reach out about plots or threads. And yes, I do always type like this. I'm old. Been doing this since about 2005 or so. Anyway, here already my terrible children. I have listed them in descending order of niceness for your convenience.
- Aimoto Momo — A freshmen student at UAU in the Heroics Department with a lucky ladybug Quirk, a passion for both dance and helping people, and a major sweet tooth. Extremely stupid and clumsy outside of athletic endeavors, but she's even sweeter than all the snacks she eats. Looking for plots to make friends, find bullies, and learn about the reality of how difficult being a Hero truly is.
- Morgana Moriarty — A non-binary immortal old enough to be most character's great-grandparent. They play journalist for the Sentinel Independent Press by day and detective for Nazur P.I. by also day because they're often the same kind of thing. Morgana also doesn't need to sleep so they snoop around at night too when they aren't trying to pick up women. Looking to do mystery type missions, be an eye-witness to crazy events, get killed repeatedly by Villains or in general, explore how living forever affects one's sanity, and interview other player characters. Interviews are featured in the Sentinel Independent Press thread.
- Ana Borovsky — A sophomore student at UAU in the Support Department who is known for both her exceptional skill and how brutally honest she is. There's clearly more than meets than eye to her, but few are willing to find out what that entails. She enjoys science, fries, laser pointers, Kurokami Gen , and making people sign NDAs. Looking to make gear for people, study Quirks, experiment on willing guinea pigs, unintentionally bully people, and perhaps find those that are stubborn or genuinely nice enough to try and befriend her.
- Hasani Serna — The Judgement Hero, Anubis. He's also the CEO of Obelisk Designs, head of the UAU Support Department, and the Hero Course Simulation Coordinator. Not to mention a wealthy playboy and a telepath living rent free in several people's heads. Looking to play the "alpha" male in plots with other male presenting characters, dazzle (or disgust) the ladies, blackmail and manipulate people using his secret Quirk, possibly get into a few encounters where he has to play Hero, show off his fashion and Support gear company, and most important, interact with Support students in a professional capacity. Or to steal their ideas. For more info on how the Support Department is set up and how your student characters can be involved even if they aren't Support Course majors, check out this thread.
- Kushiki Kioko — A uniquely gifted, and undeniably intimidating, prodigy and former heiress to an international mega-corporation focused on technology. She fell from grace after a series of unfortunate events that culminated with her killing her brother in self-defense and spending a year in prison. Once destined to follow the footsteps of her mother as both CEO to Sovereign Technologies and as a Pro Hero, Kioko now dominates Tokyo's black market working in the underground as one of its resident arms (and more) dealers as the Villain known as Meliora. Her interests beyond technology include birds and vengeance. Looking to create gear for people and trying (often poorly) to maintain the frayed threads connecting her to player characters from her past, but mostly focused on her personal plot of getting revenge against her uncle, the current CEO of Sovereign Technologies, and leader of the Villain organization known as the Umbra Syndicate.
- Goose — A hydra goose. Exactly what you expect. Looking to mostly cause chaos. Honk.
Due to, you know, having a life and also living in a late stage capitalism society, I don't have as much time to spend on RP these days. My available threads slots and posting speed will reflect just how much time I have to dedicate to the forum at any given point. With the exception of a few people, I will also only take on one thread at a time with a player. I do offer a waiting list for threads though so plots can be planned out when my characters are needed or wanted for something.
While I am fine with slow posting from other people as well, I will consider a thread dropped if it hasn't been posted in by another participant after one month so that I can free up thread slots for more active people and plots so my characters don't stall out by association. Dropped threads can be resumed when the person in question is active again, but only one time. However, only when there is a free thread slot. If not, the dropped thread is added to the waiting list at the lowest priority. Extensions can be granted one time for an additional month if people let me known before the deadline.
Current Available Slots: 0
The waiting list is not first come, first serve when a thread slot opens up. I go based on priority. Events and actual plot relevant threads (for me or the other person) are top priority, then gear, then missions, then slice-of-life or one off narratives. I include the regular seasonal prompt based events in the latter. Please DM or ping me on Discord (Samyah) with your idea to get added to the waiting list.
Waiting List:
- N/A
You can find out more about the plots of my respective characters, NPCs, and locations below. As a courtesy note, I specialize in antagonistic characters (with a few exceptions). That probably says something unfortunate about me, but please don't take what they say or do ICly personally OOCly. That being said, good luck figuring out which of my characters is the most antagonistic. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Notes: She/Her Pronouns | Central Standard Time Zone | Probably Tired
