Of course, it wasn't as if Akihiro gave much thought as to who he wanted in the room with him for the commencement speech. After all, this whole thing was just a massive waste of time and school resources. If these kids were bright enough to make it into U.A., then they were bright enough to figure out how to read a campus map.
At some point during the discourse, the lady that woke Akihiro up had stepped into the room to hand him his coffee before promptly leaving so as not to disrupt the "productive conversation" that was going on. His harsh gaze softened for a moment as he popped the top open to smell the metaphorical roses. Sweet. Refreshing. Bliss. After securing the top back on, he took a hearty sip before relaxing his shoulders to let out a satisfying "Aaahhh." In that brief moment of relaxation, the whole world faded away, and he stopped paying attention to the petty squabbles between his students, popping back in just to catch the tail end of Fosh's complaint.
Coffee in hand, Akihiro stepped back to the front of the class to interject. "Mr. Jenkins, they think they are better than you because they are better than you—at least, until you prove otherwise," he shook his head. "If you really want to shut them up and prove they're not your superiors, then I'd suggest you get to work on doing so. Regardless, I've grown tired of all of this petty squabbling between the so-called brightest minds the world has to offer, and I have quite a lot of work still at my research desk that I need to do. I'll be dismissing you all to your guided tour groups now," he said, waving his hand dismissively as he walked towards the door.

Eyes not fully opened yet, he could just barely make out the blurry figure as he slowly came to. "Nng...Gah!" Like being hit with a jolt of lightning, he jumped out of his seat and realized where he was: his lab. Right...He must've dozed off at some point during his research. "What time is it?" he asked, rubbing the bags under his eyes.
"Um...That's what I came here about. You're supposed to already be at the lecture hall for new student orientation. Um...You're actually fifteen minutes late."
"Oh. Oh. Well then, I suppose I better get going. Could you do me a favor? Stop by the cafeteria, grab me a hot latte, and bring it on over to the lecture hall, would you?"
Before she could even respond, he took off running. Fifteen minutes late on orientation day? By God, he's going to hear it from the administration for being late again. Really though, it was his fault. By now you'd think that Akihiro had learned his lesson. He didn't even need to be the one to give the speech, and yet always agreed to do it. As he came to a skidding halt in front of the lecture hall doors, he stopped to look at his reflection in the mirror, flatten his hair as best he could and straighten out his coat. It probably didn't help very much, but something was better than nothing.
As he walked into the lecture hall, passing by his pupils who had volunteered to help run the orientation, he greeted each of them with a curt nod, not saying a single word about his tardiness. By now, they should've known exactly what he was doing if it meant he was late.
"First, I'd like to apologize for my tardiness. Irresponsible behavior like that is very unbecoming of a student of this prestigious institution, and so it is even more shameful that I, as an educator, am guilty of it as well," he bowed.
"My name is Akihiro Koizumi, and I am the Head of Quirkology here at U.A. It is both my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to U.A." he paused, bowing once again.
"Once upon a time, I sat in the very seats you sit now. On my first day of orientation, my mentor, Professor Mori, stood where I stand right now, and he gave a very lengthy speech about the privilege of being able to attend U.A. His speech was riddled with platitudes. He echoed ideals about the school's motto, Plus Ultra, and tried his best to inspire us to live up to them—to go beyond. While that is all fine and good—and I respect Professor Mori—that is not the sort of speech that I like to give.
The fact of the matter is that you, against all odds, have made it into U.A. That does not mean you are safe, however. We educators of U.A. are given a privilege that no other educators in this nation are granted: Absolute Control with Impunity. That is, if I so desire, I could expel everyone in this lecture hall right now, and the administration would not dare to stop me. Will I do that, however? I have yet to decide.
Let me be clear: I will not tolerate mediocrity. I will not suffer fools. If you fail to rise to the standards of this institution—my standards, I will expel you without hesitation.
If you are the best that the world has to offer: Prove it."
With that, he stepped down from the podium and moved over to the volunteers, beckoning one of them to take the spotlight to explain how the rest of orientation was going to go. From a very young age, Akihiro has had an immaculate work ethic to match his thirst for knowledge. Curiosity—the desire to know that which is unknown—is what motivates him to get out of bed every day. He derives much of his self-esteem and self-identity from his pursuit of knowledge, holding the belief that knowledge is absolute. Though he is without a doubt one of the most brilliant minds in Quirkology, Akihiro believes that he is still incredibly ignorant of the true nature of Quirks. A rather controversial opinion, Akihiro is of the belief that Quirks are a human right and that nobody should be forced to hide their quirks. That is, he is very vocal about his disdain for Quirk Restriction Laws. Quite frankly, he finds such things to be archaic and narrow-minded. Despite his opposition, he does follow the law, for he understands that breaking them frivolously would do him more harm than good. A bit prickly, he has absolutely no reservations about being curt towards others. Polite words are merely a waste of time, and he'd much rather get right to the point than spare someone's fragile ego. Small talk and white lies are stupid; he values genuine exchanges and honesty in social situations. A bit of a tsundere, he likes to pretend like he is a cold, calculating machine with a disdain for the company of others. He prefers to keep people at arm's length whenever possible for personal reasons. He's quick to scold inappropriate behavior and even happy to take disciplinary action for even the smallest infractions. In more intimate situations, he's quick to try to disarm any sort of intimacy with dismissive/passive remarks to try and hide his true feelings. Unfortunately, he has a very obvious tell in that he tends to break eye contact and push up his glasses. Years of stress and late night spent immersed in research (and later teaching) have led to more than just a few bags developing under his eyes. His hair had even started to go gray early, perhaps giving him the appearance that he is older than he actually is. The most notable thing about his physical appearance is his sharp pair of eyes. Maybe because he's coked out on caffeine or maybe because he has a tendency to hyperanalyze things, he always has an intense look on his face. As far as clothing goes, Akihiro tends to dress on the more professional side while also throwing his trademark lab coat on as well. Though he is not visually impaired, he always wears a pair of glasses. His old lab assistant back during his grad student days gave him a pair as a joke gift since he was the only one on their research team that didn't need 'em. He continued wearing them because he was told that it made him look more intelligent, and a vain part of him liked the idea of looking smarter. When asked about 'em, he tends to lie to save face, claiming that he's farsighted. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]HISTORY The Advent of Quirks was a time of chaos and so much of the valuable information that could've been learned when quirks first started to form was lost forever. This gap in academic research on quirks has thus plagued the field of Quirk Studies for generations. In particular, one of the most important questions has still yet to be answered: Where did Quirks originate? The answer to that question compels Akihiro. Akihiro's upbringing was very standard. He was just your average kid growing up in your average middle-class household. Even at a young age, Akihiro was a very curious boy, always chasing answers to the many questions that plagued his mind. This thirst for knowledge led him to immerse himself in the world of academia. Graduating from high school a year early, he quickly began studying Quirks at U.A. University, completing his undergrad work in the first two years and then earning his doctorate two years later. Since graduating, he went to work for a medical company where he was offered a job in R&D, leading his own team on cutting-edge quirk treatment. He spent five years working for the company before leaving due to personal reasons, only to then receive a job offer to act as the Head of Quirkology at U.A. University. While there were other job offers he could've taken, he ended up going with U.A. due to his history with the institution as well as all of the generous leeway he'd be afforded as an instructor. And so he began his job as Head of Quirkology at U.A., eager to continue his research with unparalleled resources and an unending supply of inquiring minds for him to inspire. He ended up getting his a few years into his tenure as a professor at U.A. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]QUIRK QUIRK NAME: Soul Interface QUIRK RANK: A+ QUIRK TYPE: Emitter QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Akihiro has the ability to draw a person's Quirk out of their body and grant it tangible, physical form. While in this form, the quirk typically retains the physical form of and even the personality of the original user (although sometimes this may vary). In order to do so, Akihiro must activate his quirk and touch the point of origin where a person's Quirk Factor is most prominent. The longer he takes, the more of a person's Quirk he is able to manifest. When he pulls someone's Quirk, he is essentially splitting someone's Quirk from their body. If he pulls 75% of a person's Quirk from their body, then that person retains the other 25% of their Quirk's capabilities. QUIRK DRAWBACKS: The process of drawing out someone's Quirk is typically a slow one, making this ability very unreliable at worst to outright unusable. Quirks are incredibly unpredictable, so it's hard to know how exactly a Quirk will behave or react when given physical form. Some Quirks completely mirror the personality of their user, while other Quirks could behave in a totally different manner. Manifested Quirks cannot travel too far from the user, nor can they travel too far from Akihiro. If they go past a certain boundary, they return to their user.
