Technically, she was right. They hadn't done anything that they could be booked for. But, deep in his heart, Hyousuke couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't any less guilty than the ones doing the deal. Perhaps for a past offence, perhaps for aiding and abetting. He didn't know - but it took every ounce of restraint he had to not take them down along with the rest of the group. "Understood." He said, his more serious tone making it clear that he wasn't happy about the state of affairs. However, he knew better than to deviate from the task at hand, especially when his partner was quite obviously smarter. Hyousuke darted around the edges of the area, sticking to the shadows and keeping himself obscured. The last thing he needed was one of the lookouts getting an eye on him, or someone with a ranged Quirk deciding they wanted to practice on a moving target. Besides, surprise - if he was lucky - would do half the work for him. He doubted they'd surrender, but on the off chance that they'd be so inclined, him appearing out of nowhere to catch them red-handed couldn't hurt the chances that they would. When he finally did reveal himself, he was no more than a few feet from them, having seemingly appeared from thin air to confront them. "Alright everyone, hands in the air!" He demanded, arms crossed over his chest, a stern look painted across his face. Tall, broad, and serious as he was, he struck a fairly imposing figure, even in the daylight glow. "Come quietly, or I'll drag you all back to the station myself!"

Impressed as he was that she could sense that many with that degree of accuracy, Hyousuke held his tongue for the time being. They had more important matters to attend to, and he couldn't waste time with idle compliments - or risk them getting caught by somebody hearing whispers in the distance. Instead, he scanned his eyes over the environment taking in what he could to try and gauge their chances. He was silent but focussed, clearly thinking on what he saw before him. When he did eventually speak, his voice was hushed and harsh - a far cry from the jovial tone he'd had when they first met. "I think we can take them." Hyousuke said, as he looked closer at the group. "I say we start with the ones outside and work our way in. The smart ones'll run if they see a cape, and there's no way we'll catch them if they blend in. If we take the ones keeping watch and cuff them before they can shout, the ones further in are going to have to get through us to run. But we need to move fast. They get the chance to surround us or slip by, they're going to take it." He spoke emphatically, as if he'd seen it before enough times to be certain. He had, of course. But she didn't need to know that.

She was right, of course. That much, he couldn't deny, at least with nothing that sprang to his mind that very moment. But even so, the disappointment with the lack of activity was writ clear on his face, with an expression that fell somewhere between sheepish and annoyed. Nevertheless, when he did finally deign to speak, he did so with as hopeful a tone as he could think to muster. It rang a little hollow, given that he had quite obviously been hoping for something more exciting than a stiff breeze to happen, but the effort was there. "Yeah, I guess you're right. How about we loop back around if nothing turns up in the last bit?" He asked, though his eyes were scanning the area rather than turned towards her. Perhaps he was just being vigilant - or perhaps he was just hoping that there was something out there lurking, and all he had to do was look closely at the distance to find it. Alas, his vigilance was for naught, and little more than a stray wrapper crossed their paths. "If we're gonna be pros, we gotta be thorough about it."His assumption that the third area would be as uneventful as the previous two was - to his barely-hidden surprise - sorely mistaken. Even from a fair distance away, he could see that there were people loitering about the area, and it didn't look like the area's residents trying to sneak in a smoke break before heading back inside. Indeed, from what little he could see and hear, there was a transaction taking place - and if previous experience was anything to go off of, it wasn't one that was exactly legal. He signalled for Spectrum to stop and hide, then whispered to her, keeping an eye on the individuals from the shadows he was crouched in. "We might have trouble. I count three - they might have lookouts though. Check any ways in or out, they've gotta have at least a couple."

Hyousuke was quick to agree - it wasn't as if there was much reason to stick around, after all, and he wagered that the stranger wouldn't take too kindly to being grilled about criminal activity in the area. If they even knew anything more specific about it than 'criminal activity probably happens in the general vicinity.' While the first area had proven uneventful, the second one outdid it in every aspect. It seemed like the sheer size of it only emphasised the fact that there was nothing going on. No people, let alone criminals, were there, and with the sounds of the outside world muffled by the surrounding buildings, what noise made its way in was muted and dull. Even the breeze blowing through seemed still, with it broken by the buildings in the way, and petering out before it even got to the patrolling pair. Though he strained his eyes and looked closely from where he stood, Hyousuke couldn't make out a single sign of villains, criminals, or even a wayward rat that needed to be shooed away. "I gotta admit..." He said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head. "I kinda expected something more exciting than this. Do you think the guys on the other routes need help? If the third bits anything like this, we'll just be clocking out early anyway.”

Fortunately for them both, plotting the route didn't take much effort. The shortest route that took them through all three was, coincidentally, ordered in just the way that he'd listed them out. Unwilling to look a gift horse in the mouth, he slipped his phone back into his pocket, now confident that he knew where he was going. He would likely have to check it now and again, of course, but he supposed that he would cross that bridge when they came to it. For now, there was a patrol to get on with. Hyousuke turned into the first area slowly, making some token attempt at surveying the area before he acted rashly. At first glance, the short route behind the apartments didn't seem to hold anything terribly exciting. There was someone leaning against the wall and lighting a cigarette up, but they didn't seem to be in any hurry to do much of anything. They were close to the apartment's back entrance too - hardly the best place for a thief to wait for a mark. "Doesn't look like there's anything here." He said, looking slowly around. "Let's look through it and keep moving. If we're gonna find anything, it's probably going to be in one of the other two."

Hyousuke was quite clearly thinking the idea over, as evidenced by his expression once more turning to one of concentration. Were she to listen closely, she might have just about been able to hear the gears grinding away inside his head, trying to build the energy to make a lightbulb flicker to life above him. It took a little longer than before, as he was trying to recall some vague memory even he thought he'd forgotten, but the light of inspiration slowly began to come to life in his eyes, and his goofy smile returned in short order. "If we're looking for cats," he said enthusiastically, his fist beating into his palm decisively, "I know a spot behind the dorms! There's this little black cat that keeps coming through there. I don't know why it doesn't just go around though. Maybe it just likes it when people give it attention?" Amongst a small subset of the student body, the cat was something of a celebrity. Now and again, a picture of it would crop up on a student's feed, be it a clear photo of the thing demanding someone pet it, or a blurry photo taken from a distance, like it was a cryptid crawling across the wall behind the dorms. “Maybe it’ll be there now! We could go and see it, if you don’t know anywhere else.”

Letting him take point was perhaps not the best of ideas. Not because he lacked any kind of defensive or recon-related abilities, but because he was about as reckless as a UA student was allowed to be before getting booted out of the door. However, he didn't respond with that, instead nodding enthusiastically to her proposal, and voicing his acknowledgement of it. It was hardly as if he had any better ideas, after all, and could use somebody to watch his back. He didn't think that this part of Tokyo would hide anyone particularly devious, but he knew from experience that it was best to be prepared. However, her putting forward that he not only take point, but also make the call on how they approached each situation, was something that he wasn't as pleased to hear. He wasn't the 'plan' man. He was barely even an ideas guy. The two brain cells rattling around inside his skull were dedicated entirely to how best to throw his fists against whichever opponent he was looking at. But, with him unwilling to appear inadequate in the presence of a peer, and wanting to maintain that can-do, confident attitude, he nodded just as enthusiastically as before.
"No problem! Just leave it to me - they'll lose before they even know it!" As long as they thought like his old 'friends,' anyway. He hoped - perhaps against hope - they didn't come up against anyone vaguely organised. He was the muscle, not the brains. "So, wanna head out?"

All good suggestions - ones that he had considered, but never in so much detail. He was hardly the sharpest knife in the pack, as he had already demonstrated earlier, so it hadn't even occurred to him that his Quirk had other applications beyond those that directly affected his body. However, it was a conversation that he would have to continue another day. Before he had a chance to discuss the matter with her further, a notification pinged on his phone - a reminder of the patrol's start. Not that he seemed to be at risk of forgetting, but at the very least, it helped serve as a reminder in case something came up. He shut the reminder off as quickly as it had appeared, but the moment was gone, and that aside, time was of the essence. "Alright, let's do that!" He said, punching his fist into his palm, quite clearly excited by the prospect of working together with her. "If there's anyone doing some shady stuff in there, they won't know what hit 'em!" Looking again at the route, he thought for a moment, tracing his finger along the streets. "If we take the shortcut by the apartments and then the one behind the shops first, we should be able to finish off with the long one and loop back here when we're done. We might even have enough time to check out somewhere else on the way back too. What do you think?"

Outwardly, Hyousuke was as bright as a bulb. Beaming like the sun, and with a stance as confident as anything, he seemed to simply acknowledge the comparison to another hero without offering much more by way of a response. To others, it might have seemed like he simply didn't have much to say on the matter. However, in truth, a part of him resented that his Quirk - something that barely put him above a particularly well-trained athlete, as far as he was concerned - was being compared to a far stronger, far more useful, one. The last thing he needed was a reminder of his strength, or lack thereof. But his resentment wasn't shown in anything but his silence, and even that was more likely to be interpreted as him listening intently rather than responding at every chance. It wasn't until she asked a question that he even spoke. "It's just a battery," he explained, "That uses my body like a circuit, so I don't think it can get out. Maybe I should try that sometime..." He had, of course, tried before. He wanted more than just the ability to catch his breath quickly - he wanted to be up there in the big leagues, with versatile and powerful Quirks. Something like Dauntless', that could knock a villain flat on their back, or hers, that no doubt had a litany of uses that a smarter person than him could list. However, he didn't give her much of a chance to follow up with a response about his Quirk, instead moving swiftly on to asking about the patrol route. Again, he listened intently, though this time it wasn't with resentment festering inside him. He genuinely was interested in hearing her thoughts - though he kept his knowledge and experience with running in some small-time, ragtag group of delinquents quiet. He wasn't sure how she'd react to such a revelation, and it wasn't the kind of topic to be brought up on a first meeting anyway. Better to just keep things moving. "Out of all of these? I think we should try and focus on here, here, and here." He pointed at three spots specifically, and placed his phone down on the table between them so that they both had a clear view of what he was getting at. "This one looks like it's used like a shortcut from one part of the street to the other. It's by some apartments, but someone quick or quiet enough could snatch a purse off someone not paying attention. This one goes behind some businesses, but it's longer than the first one, so there's bound to be a blind spot or two where the cameras won't catch them. And this one seems like it's the worst of both. Cheap apartments and no shops, so it probably doesn't have much security, long enough for someone to jump you and run off if you're not careful, and too far from the street for any lights or police patrols to help before they've run off."He seemed to be quite knowledgeable about the subject. As if he'd taken advantage of such situations himself, on more than one occasion. But he was a hero - such an idea was preposterous at best.

Hyousuke nodded eagerly. He understood about half the words in her explanation, and the rest didn't really help him piece together the puzzle all that much, but there was no need to let her know that. By all appearances, it seemed like he was soaking the information up like a sponge. However, understanding of her explanation wasn't necessary for her own enthusiasm to infect him right back, and her pose drew a wide, toothy, grin across his face that somehow seemed wider than his cheeks themselves. The only reason he didn't start cheering was because she'd asked him a direct question, and of course, he was bound to answer. "My heart makes electricity!" Was all he said at first. It took him a moment to realise that this description, while accurate, was perhaps not entirely helpful. As such, he elaborated, with no smaller level of enthusiasm to his tone. "That electricity gets used to power my body, and that means I don't ever run out of stamina!" Perhaps a little bit of an exaggeration, given that strenuous enough exercise meant he could, in fact, run out. But it'd take a lot more than just strutting around the city to take him down to zero. "So! I took a look at the route earlier. What do you think of it? It's in a pretty nice area, so I don't think there's gonna be much trouble, but you never know!"Miroru

He had to admit, part of him had been worried that she'd see his vague ramblings about "the orange ones" as him not being invested enough. However, her rather enthusiastic reaction to him showing off that particular picture - and to his love of a species of cats that shared a single braincell between them all - was enough to allay his fears before they began to spiral out of his control. True, he didn't actually know his stuff about cats beyond knowing that they were all good kitties and needed petting, but he liked to think he made up for it with his own enthusiasm. That said, he was a little surprised at her revealing he was the first to show up. Granted, he was fairly early, and the club was new - but that still left him with his expression twisting into something a little more perplexed. "I'm the first?" He questioned. "But cats are so cool! This place should be packed! We should be-" He cut himself off abruptly, glancing away for a second, before continuing. "What should we be doing? I might've skipped that part of the poster." By which he meant he'd almost immediately gone to the mentioned classroom at the mention of a cat-based club, such was his excitement at the idea. Hyousuke was, at first, unaware of what was happening. Not because he was dense - not this time, at least. It was the buildings at fault this time, shielding her from his view until she drew closer, at which point he had to do a double-take to make sure that he wasn't seeing things. After all, while rainbows were a fairly common occurrence, it hadn't rained recently enough for one - and rainbows generally followed a set shape, rather than streaking through the air behind what looked distinctly like a person. Even as he squinted, and the mysterious figure grew closer, it was difficult to tell what was going on - until he spied a pair of ears and a tail adorning her. Between the orange of her hair, and those rather distinctive features, it didn't take him long to put two and two together. There was only one person he knew that matched such a description, and it was the person that had been assigned as his partner on this patrol. Before he could call out to her and introduce himself, however, the act reached its crescendo, and Miroru landed in a spectacular display of light and agility. He stood up, intending to cheer, but she beat him to the punch with an exclamation of her own. Nevertheless, he was no less excited for it. When he did speak, his words practically exploded out from him, with a volume to match. "That was awesome! How'd you do that?! What's your Quirk?!" He could barely even slow himself down enough to be heard, let alone enough to speak at a sensible pace. It took him a good moment or two to notice he'd even spilt some on his hand, even - prompting him to end the barrage on a slightly sheepish note. "...Want some coffee?"Miroru

With its status as the nation's capital, Tokyo had its fair share of crime. Not all of it was a flashy affair, like a building-levelling villain running amok, or tracking a thief that could vanish like a ghost, however. More often than not, it was simple affairs - muggings, robbery, petty theft, and other such low-level crimes. While the police did their best to prevent them - and put right the crimes they couldn't prevent - Tokyo was a big city, and there were only ever so many officers that could be dedicated to the task. With so much ground to cover and so much going on, it was no small wonder that the presence of a costumed hero patrolling the area was welcomed by citizens and police alike. No doubt there were those that weren't keen on it, but Hyousuke had been cleared for the job after having passed the necessary checks, and by the sounds of it, so had his partner. Someone by the name of "Prism," he'd been told. He wasn't sure what kind of Quirk they had, but hopefully, they wouldn't need to use them. As much as he was itching for a good scrap, he didn't want one at the expense of someone else's safety. He sipped idly at a paper cup in front of some bougie-looking coffee shop (about the only kind that seemed present in the area), gradually draining his cup while he once more checked the patrol route. From the looks of things, it wasn't a particularly wide area they'd been assigned, but having to check in on various backalleys and security blind spots seemed like it'd make it take a while anyway. Not that he minded - any experience was good experience, and he couldn't afford to pass up an opportunity if it meant keeping up with his peers.

Perhaps it was his naturally-high body temperature. Perhaps it was the fact that he'd been unable to keep still from the moment he'd woken up, to the moment that he'd arrived at the arena. Or perhaps it was the fire of passion burning within his heart, driving him forward. Whatever the cause was, Hyousuke could barely feel the cold, even through the tracksuit that served as his sole protection against the bitterly-cold clime. However, that wasn't to say that he'd managed to avoid shaking entirely. Confident as he may have seemed at first glance, a sharper-eyed observer would no doubt notice the twitching and trembling in his fists, themselves clutched tight enough to turn the knuckles as white as the snow ahead. It was all for good reason, of course. This was all he'd ever truly wanted, and all that he felt could give his life purpose. If he didn't get into UA - if he didn't pass the exam, after everything he'd done - he had no idea what he'd do. Could he face his mentor after failing so miserably? Could he drag himself back home, knowing that everyone else was right, and that he was little more than some failure to be cast aside like dirt? Such thoughts gnawed at his mind, spreading through and taking root, clinging so tight that nothing could distract him - apart from the signal to start. Hyousuke was off like a shot. The very second that he could go, he barged through and shoved aside anyone in front of him, and barrelled straight towards the closest villain robot. There was no hesitation in his movements once muscle memory kicked in, and with a bellowing cry, he lashed out with a sharp left jab aimed squarely at the red glass of its eye, followed swiftly by a vicious right uppercut. He didn't care if it cut him to break them open, nor did it matter to him if striking the metal shattered his bones. Any injury was worth it if it meant he passed. Muruyama KentaRinClassy

Hyousuke was dumb, but he wasn’t stupid. It didn’t take a genius to know that his ‘partner’ had planned to do a steaming pile of nothing for the whole exam. Part of him wanted to throw in the towel there and then, and demand a partner that actually cared about the exercise. He knew well that not every hero was a shining paragon of justice, but at least most of them had the good sense to pretend like they cared about getting a mission done. However, going back would mean forfeiting, and that would mean he'd lost. And his pride just wouldn't let that be. It was clear, even to him, that no rousing speech or infallible confidence was going to inspire the dead weight he'd been made to drag around into doing anything useful. So he resolved to try a more unconventional approach - annoying them into doing something. "Come on, at least try it! I'm not gonna stop this until you do!" He said, raising his voice high enough that it was likely someone on the opposite end of the training grounds would have been able to hear him. "And I can keep this up all day too!" It wasn't an idle threat. Between his Quirk and his determination that bordered on dogged obsession, Sebastian hadn't a chance in hell of peaceful rest. He did, however, stop when it became apparent that they had company. Mild annoyance turned to a wide grin, and he turned towards the doorframe, knuckles cracking and eyes glinting with anticipation. "Actually, I think I've got a better idea. You want to get out of here as soon as you can? Then help me kick these guys' asses. Unless you think concrete sounds more comfortable than a bed." At that point, he was just itching for a fight. It didn’t matter who it was with - the prospect of an opponent was just too good to pass up.
