The spring festival had been ongoing for a while now and while it was a fun experience every time she went, Freja also felt like her social battery drained so fast being around that many people days on end. Ultimately, she ended up needing a break and missing out on some of the days. Luckily for her, that meant she would have time to text Kenta and plan on heading back out to Tokyo together to hang out at the festival grounds. Eat some food, see the sights, just hang out and do the kind of stuff that friends do.

Friends.

It was still a concept that was fairly new to her. She thought she knew all about it from back home, but turned out her trying to befriend gang members of all people hadn't been a very good idea in hindsight. Normal friends wouldn't tell you to kill someone to hang out with them. That still gave her shivers to think about, how young and stupid she had been. Thankfully she never actually killed anyone, but maybe there was a reality where she might have gone through with it?

It just so happened to be May the 4th and Freja was a pretty big science fiction geek, so of course her outfit for her and Kenta's outing was jedi robes. She wasn't sure if it would be too nerdy, but she trusted Kenta would be cool with it since she had a great experience with him the first time they met. He seemed like the kind of guy that wouldn't mind, and might even be a nerd like her too.

When they finally met up, Freja had already bought a tray of takoyaki balls to share. ''You made it! Great to see you again, Kenta. Isn't it nice to get away from school for a bit?'' Even though it was noisy in Tokyo, it was a different atmosphere. ''Wanna split 'em?'' She held up the tray of food. ''It's impossible to resist the snacks out here when there's so many food stalls.'' She smiled.

Kenta walked through the festival, swinging his arms back and forth letting the sleeves of the robes flow a bit. It felt a bit weird to technically be dressed properly for the occasion, visiting a festival and all that, and yet doing something pretty untraditional. When he watched the movies he was more of a fan of the more fitting outfits some of the Jedi wore but he could dig this.

Kenta wasn’t a typical geek, and despite what some people like to joke about it wasn’t because of him liking to exercise. Rather than focusing on one thing he couldn’t help but keep trying new stuff. So in a way, he was interested in a lot of stuff, though he was also quick to discard something if something new was on the horizon. He would try anything but it took a while for him to “geek out” over something.
He had to admit, when Freja mentioned dressing up for the occasion cause it was May the 4th, he needed to rewatch the movies for a refresher. But he was on board with the idea. He was glad to hang out with her in general, she seemed pretty cool, and he wanted to be good friends with the people at UAU. Also, he didn’t want to be the 3rd wheel for her friends with partners.

Eventually, he spotted her out of the crowd, waving as he approached her, seeing her carrying a plate of Takoyaki “YO, Freja! Good to see you too. And yeah, good to get away from uni a bit…still a bit loud and crowded, but a lot less explosions” he said with a laugh, smiling wide as he took one of the Takoyaki “Sure, but next snack is on me! So, you spot any other people on the Force side along the way?” he asked as he scarfed down the treat. He was sure he saw at least one Vader on the way here.

She couldn’t help but laugh. “Explosions? I guess campus is just that intense, but we eventually get used to it.” She shrugged casually. “Sure!” She wasn’t opposed to the idea of Kenta paying for the next snack. “I have, but unfortunately it was only sith.” She hung her head dejectedly, “don’t you feel like we’re being outnumbered? Like why is Vader so popular when he’s the bad guy?” Oh well, this little dress up was all in good fun, and fun it was. Picking up a takoyaki ball with the little toothpick, Freja went for her first bite.

Only to immediately burn her tongue.

“Hot!” She exclaimed, dropping it as she fumbled from the sudden pain. “My takoyaki!” She reached out but it was too late, however, just as the ball was about to touch the ground it stopped. Levitating in midair the ball sat there before floating back to Freja’s hand. “Huh?” She blinked her eyes looking dumbfounded, before screaming. “W-What was that?! Telekinesis??” She looked around to see if anyone else had done it. “Kenta, did you..” maybe he was pulling some kind of prank on her.

“Well if you let a whole horde of people with quirks finally let loose its probably bound to be a bit chaotic…I imagine the school get enough money to cover up any mishaps.” He said with a shrug of his own. He nodded as Freja spoke “I guess he’s built up for most of the movies, and big scary robot-looking dudes are cool.. But I think were pulling of the Jedi look pretty good” he said grinning as he took another Takoyaki Ball.

Before he could take a bite of his own ball or comment on Freja dropping hers…before it didn’t drop. Well, it stopped mid air as she reached for it…and it floated to her hand “Whoa…how did you do that?’ he asked looking at her. He flinched a bit at her surprised shout and then said “Hey, no! Look, my gel is up here!” he said as he raised his hands and pushed his gel through it…only nothing came out.

“Wait…where my…” he said with a slight panic looking at his hands “Come on, get out!” he exclaimed, shoving his hands forward. No Gel came out…but suddenly a gust of pressure seemingly shot forward from him, knocking up some stray trash and dirt from the ground and one empty cupboard box. “What the…something’s going on here..” he stated as he looked around, with other people in the crowd seemingly going through something similar. Items levitating, stuff being knocked over by an invisible push…one guy seemed to jump up from the ground at least two stories up and crashing into a different food stand. Things were about to become chaotic.

''Right!'' She chuckled at his joke about the school having tons of money. ''There's no way they don't with the kind of bombastic entrance exams we had to go through! Talk about flaunting your money right from the start.'' All things considered, their campus was actually super nice now that she thought of it. Clean grounds, luxurious dorms by Tokyo standards, they were really living the good life at school. All because they had signed up to risk their lives for a better future.


''W-What me? I didn't do anything!'' She blinked her eyes as she looked up at his hand, was he supposed to be producing gel now? If Kenta didn't do it, then who did? ''..Did I?'' She looked back, confused as she took a bite out of her takoyaki. ''Wha?'' She looked back at him, still chewing on her food. Her eyes widened when he sent out that wave of pressure, leaning in close to inspect his hand. ''There's no way that's gel, your gel doesn't normally do that, does it?'' She was starting to panic a little bit too, pointing her palm at the empty cupboard box. Sure enough, as she willed it, the box levitated upright back into its position. ''Is it an enemy attack?'' She looked around, paranoid, feeling weak without her bat by her side. ''But that doesn't make sense... Kenta, can you not use your gel? I'm quirkless... But somehow I have powers? It doesn't make any sense, and from the looks of things, we're not the only ones affected by this.''

“Well, given their reputation I guess they need to make sure everything is in tip top shape, no matter how wild the students get. Cant say their spending their money bad in terms of catering at least” he joked, thinking about his life at UAU a bit. Short but wild so far, the people he met, the training he went through, the technology on display…all to make sure they were ready to defend the people of the country.
The topic shifted quickly to both of them freaking out slightly due to the situation “As cool as that would be not really! Its also never been invisible” he answered her question on whether it could be his gel that did that thing. It didn’t feel like it, instead of coming literally out of him, It felt more…outside of him? He saw Freya start worrying more as the time passed.

He put a hand on her shoulder saying “Hey, hey, calm down, we’re going to be fine. Seems like we don’t have our powers…or well, more like, we got new ones… Couldn’t the guys from the movies do this kind of stuff? Move things with their mind and all?” he asked a bit wide eyed. It felt silly but…it did seem like they got some abilities like from the movies!

The conversation was interrupted as a barrel flew past them, some screaming coming from the other side. Looking forward he saw a group of 3 dudes apparently enjoying their abilities a bit to much, making random things fly through the air. “Oy, cut that out, there’s people here!” he shouted towards them while moving forward, trying to calm hem down only to receive a reply “yeah, good target practice!” as a pair of chairs was sent flying his way.

He had the instinct to dodge and in his mind he wanted to roll forward on the ground…but with how light he felt, he ended up doing a summersault in the air while dodging the projectiles “Whoa…ok maybe this isn’t so bad” he said with a bit of a smile.

''Right? I guess none of that really applies to us, since last time I checked we don't have explosive powers.'' Still it was amusing to think that there was room for that at their school, and Kenta was right, the catering was really good. When the power shift started to happen, Freja could feel her mind spiraling more and more out of control as she tried to consider every valuable. She wasn't ready to fight another villain again. Not like this, not so suddenly.

It wasn't until Kenta put a hand on her shoulder that she looked back at him. ''F-From the movies?'' She breathed out, then looked back down at her hands. ''Now that you mention it.. But why is this happening?'' The concern ate away at her, she couldn't help but have a bad feeling about this.

''Kenta look!-'' He didn't even need her warning, dodging the incoming chairs like an absolute pro. ''You heard him!'' She shouted back at the rude dudes, her hand hovering in place where the chairs were, causing them to come to a halt, before she sent them flying right back at the three dudes. Perhaps a bit aggressive for a hero student, but so what? Were they going to pin quirk misuse on the quirkless student? Some people couldn't be negotiated with, some people needed to be taught empathy through violence.

''Sit down! Or I'll throw something bigger at you!'' She felt a little bad for dragging Kenta into this, but part of why she had such a strong reaction was that they tried to hurt him in the first place.

“No idea, I’m guessing either stuff is happening all around and I’ll be on the news…or maybe someone has a whacky quirk here and we’ll be on the news” he replied quickly before trying to dissuade the other guys from getting into trouble…with not the best results, but guess that was executed. People getting new abilities and general chaos were going to get some people to act up.

Technically he and Freja were…bending the rules a bit with what they were doing, but they did try to de-escalate first, and they were taught that potential dangers should be naturalized as fast as possible. Better to ask for forgiveness for doing some unlicensed heroics than leave those guys to cause mayhem…wanting to use some of these powers didn’t have anything to do with it for sure.

The guys reeled a bit from Freja countering their attack letting him look around a bit. Hmm…one of the stalls had a bunch of rope by it “That’s it, you guys are toast!” came a reply from the crew, some of them sending more stuff flying at Kenta, the others at Freja “Let em have it Freja!” he called out as he did another flip to dodge the flying miscellaneous items, hoping his companion would distract them for a bit. As he landed, he focused on the rope and had it fly into his hands. After that, he dashed towards the trouble-causing group and started running circles around them as fast as he could…which with this whole power mix-up thing was really fast. Running closer and closer while getting the rope around them, hoping to end up with the group tied up in the middle.

Having powers was... Weird. Did it always feel like this? Was this how everyone felt all the time having powers? It was almost a bit nauseating, like she had tapped into something highly illegal she shouldn't have access to. She avoided the incoming stuff that was thrown at them too, albeit a little less elegantly than Kenta. This was crazy, how had they suddenly found themselves in the middle of a fight like this? She couldn't get used to a power in mere seconds... If only she had her bat.

It was then that she noticed one of the wooden chair legs having broken off. Perfect. ''Not a bat, but you'll do!'' Extending a hand towards the chair leg, through sheer force of will, or however this telekinesis thing worked, the chair leg flew right into her palm for her to wield. Clogging one of the guys over the head with it she grinned. ''Much better!'' Then immediately blocked a couple more attacks, engaged in a stalemate with the troublemakers until Kenta came in for the clutch save with the rope.

''Quick thinking, Kenta.'' Once the guys were all wrapped up in the ropes she would raise a hand to high five him.

''Police!! What's going on over there?'' A voice called out from around the corner.

''Police?! L-Let's get our stories straight, uhhh- we didn't use our quirks, right? I mean we technically didn't use our quirks..'' She was getting nervous, ''can you do the talking? The school will kill me if I get in trouble again!'' It was safe to say that Guidance Counselor Sadako was less than impressed with Freja's troublemaking track record so far.

The fact there was more of them and they were flinging stuff at them made it a bit more difficult…plus the fact all of them were pretty much new to this whole Jedi thing made them all a bit more clumsy and reckless. Kenta was used to acrobatic stuff so he was able to find his groove…once Freja got the table leg, she found her niche as well. Kenta winced just a little bit as one of the guys ended up bonking…but they were the one starting it.

The distraction was enough for him to be able to trap them all up before they could do more damage “yeah, that’s how you do it!” he exclaimed, giving Freja the high five, just as the police sirens started to blare out.

He saw Freja get a bit nervous as he pat her on the shoulder “Hey, hey, just relax… technically, if this is happening all around there is going to be a lot of quirk violations going around… and we weren’t the ones throwing shit around! Don’t worry, I can talk…I’m guessing even school is going to be a bit baffled about today” he joked as the police came in.

Kenta was mostly calm, and not to unfamiliar with…skirting the laws a bit. They were question of course and headed to the station for a detailed account, but the fact apparently several districts were going crazy, and the fact they were actively stopping more unruly people did keep them out of trouble. Probably going to be a big lecture at school about crisis management he imagined. The one thing he slightly regretted was not getting to dual someone with a lightsaber…even one of those prop ones would be fun.
