Four would-be robbers had the wind knocked from their lungs and found themselves on their collective asses as Demura took aim with his energy rifle, causing their loot to collapse to the ground in the heaps they'd hope to carry it in. Normally, something like money or jewels would cause a commotion the instant it was revealed and not protected, but the chaos happening in the area was several magnitudes more serious. Policemen who just an hour ago had been on patrol would quickly swoop in to handcuff and restrain the criminals, nodding toward Demura in confirmation.
As he approached to them, out the corner of his eye he caught movement.
"R-ROCKET!"
The shout of panic from the cop was all he needed to fully spin around, seeing someone level what looked to be a military-grade projectile launcher towards them from the rooftops, and in short order, release it. With Overdive active, hell, even without it, Demura could dodge it. But he doubted the policemen could. And he knew their newly obtained arrestees couldn't, at least not until they got their bearings once more and could stand without wheezing. So that left only one viable option for the hero; gritting his teeth and taking it head on. He knew he'd survive it, and with no permanent injuries at that. But damn it, would it hurt.
Moving quick, he'd go to intercept the rocket mid-flight, stopping it in its tracks as it exploded, launching him away and into the glass window of an already abandoned storefront, ears ringing, uniform singed, and eyes seeing double.
