Yunagi is well known across her scholarly career of being that quiet kid in class. Somebody who kept their head down, did their work and showed up when they needed to. While this culminated in receiving good grades, her social life was anything but stable. The small friend group she had culminated, while helpful, did mark her as a frequent bullying target and faced ostracization from other peers. This has led to a nasty case of self doubt at her own abilities, commonly apologizing for any kind of hiccup in anybody's plan. Her newfound power has made her somewhat apathetic to the cheers and compliments of people now, ultimately seeing those people as shallow. She firmly believes that in today's society, one's worth is only equal to whether or not they had a useful quirk or ability.

But the girl is not without her merits. For one, even if her worldview is negative towards how quirkless people are treated, she's had a dream at becoming a hero since she was a kid and strictly follows that rigorous style. She'll always put others before herself like many romanticized heroes in fiction, which does often lead to some rather negative results. Regardless, once you do get to know her and gain her trust, you'll have one of the most supportive people you could hope to meet. Yunagi enjoys making others happy at any cost, and often buys them little things likes snacks, cards or what have you. She'll stick by you no matter the odds and do everything to support you, even if it puts her at odds against everything else. Yunagi wears her heart on her sleeve, and for better or worse, she's one of the purest students at the U.A.

Yunagi began life as the youngest of two daughters to Mariko and Quintin Katahara. With her mother being a pro hero and her father being a tailor for her mother's hero organization, there were some pretty large boots for the girl to fill. And yet, it must have been some stroke of irony that the girl would be quirkless by the time she had hit four years old. With no latent power manifesting, it placed her at a great disadvantage. All her life, she had watched from afar while her older sister, a student in hero schools and courses, would leave for the day as she went to a basic kind of school. It was infuriating to lack the one thing that everybody expected of her, even outside of being the youngest daughter of a well known hero.

Things only worsened as she grew older, eventually transferring to a mixed class school as her mother had remained determined that this could be what drew her daughter's power out. Life in such a place was hell, as those without powers were subject to rule by those with them. Yunagi was frequently the target for bullying at the expense of not being able to defend herself. It caused the girl to view herself as the issue to everything. If she had been born with a quirk, none of it would have happened. She would be with her sister and celebrated like everyone else. But she was instead, surrounded by the worst that her age group had to offer. Her disagreements with this school caused a rift between herself and her mother, which has lasted to this very day.

It wasn't until one day, where Yunagi had been receiving the routine treatment of not relinquishing "protection" money to the other girls possessing quirks. After a short fight and getting surrounded, she had experienced a sudden breakdown, as those looking on that day had reported she'd start to appear unstable. The fight continued as she was pinned against the wall, with her attackers ready to continue the beating until something had changed inside of her. Yunagi screeched in discomfort, feeling a strange energy come off of her body.

Around her, things had begun to disintegrate at an alarming rate. Locked were letting out creaks and groans as they buckled, bags and small items were being worn away to a finite fust that swirled around the girl and only fueled her meltdown. The bullies that had been close by would suffer from their clothes being ruined and bodies burned from the disintegration effect being minor on their bodies. It wasn't until a teacher would step in and have to render her unconscious with a singing power that Yunagi lay on the floor, her uniform disintegrated and a sand like element around her.

The event had caused an uproar among the parents of the students who had lost belongings as a result of this. Yunagi refused to leave her room for days, weeks on end as she was scared of what she had developed. Her mother, proud of her daughter for being a late bloomer, would eventually coax her daughter into continuing to chase her dreams of following her on the path of becoming a hero. Yunagi did slowly agree to transfer to the U.A. in hopes of pursuing a Heroics degree.

But what she found was that the same people who had treated her so different back in her previous classes for not possessing a quirk had suddenly greeted her like any number of fellow heroes. She viewed the world with apathetic eyes, knowing full well of what the quirkless people of the world had gone through and not forgetting what her experiences were. This has caused Yunagi some amount of hesitation with people she's unfamiliar with, believing they only like her for her quirk.

This is contained into a ten foot radius around her that they must be able to see or sense the matter being affected in order to utilize the quirk. At her current level of expertise, Yuna's uses for this quick are severely limited. She can disintegrate matter up to the coarseness of stone, with the hardiness of the material taking more time to fully work. This process takes place over a period of time relative to the size/mass of the things that she is disintegrating. Smaller things like a rock or a sheet of paper can be done on the fly, while things about the size of a human or larger will take a considerable amount of time to fully disintegrate. Gases and liquids cannot be affected by this quirk.

Following the standard Novice Quirk cooldowns, Yunagi can use her quirk for three posts before needing a two-post cooldown.

[u]Intense Focus[/u] :: The process of focusing on disintegration takes a tremendous amount of effort to control around what Yunagi wants to affect. Lacking the control or focus will cause anything that can be affected to begin the disintegration process, regardless of whether it's friend or foe. Impairing her mind by any reason, for example, could mean the difference between disintegrating lamppost or disintegrating her hero suit.

[u]Highly Destructive[/u] :: It doesn't really need saying, but exerting enough pressure on matter to crush it into microscopic particles means that there's not really any way of using this quirk in a way that can be described as "minimal". Even with the best focus, anything broken down into the dust she uses won't exactly be handled with the upmost care. The stronger the quirk becomes, the more danger it poses to both Yunagi but other things around her.

[u]Water You Doing?[/u] :: The dust isn't completely immune to all other forces. Water will cause the bonds between the dust particles to lump together and become waterlogged, reducing its effectiveness. Small amounts of water will not overpower the entirety of the dust.

This is contained into a ten foot radius around her that they must be able to see or sense the matter being affected in order to utilize the quirk. At her current level of expertise, Yuna's uses for this quick are severely limited. She can disintegrate matter up to the coarseness of stone, with the hardiness of the material taking more time to fully work. This process takes place over a period of time relative to the size/mass of the things that she is disintegrating. Smaller things like a rock or a sheet of paper can be done on the fly, while things about the size of a human or larger will take a considerable amount of time to fully disintegrate. Gases and liquids cannot be affected by this quirk.

Drawbacks
Intense Focus :: The process of focusing on disintegration takes a tremendous amount of effort to control around what Yunagi wants to affect. Lacking the control or focus will cause anything that can be affected to begin the disintegration process, regardless of whether it's friend or foe. Impairing her mind by any reason, for example, could mean the difference between disintegrating lamppost or disintegrating her hero suit.

Highly Destructive :: It doesn't really need saying, but exerting enough pressure on matter to crush it into microscopic particles means that there's not really any way of using this quirk in a way that can be described as "minimal". Even with the best focus, anything broken down into the dust she uses won't exactly be handled with the upmost care. The stronger the quirk becomes, the more danger it poses to both Yunagi but other things around her.

This has led to a nasty case of self doubt at her own abilities, commonly apologizing for any kind of hiccup in anybody's plan. Her newfound power has made her somewhat apathetic to the cheers and compliments of people now, ultimately seeing those people as shallow. She firmly believes that in today's society, one's worth is only equal to whether or not they had a useful quirk or ability.

But the girl is not without her merits. For one, even if her worldview is negative towards how quirkless people are treated, she's had a dream at becoming a hero since she was a kid and strictly follows that rigorous style. She'll always put others before herself like many romanticized heroes in fiction, which does often lead to some rather negative results. Regardless, once you do get to know her and gain her trust, you'll have one of the most supportive people you could hope to meet. Yunagi enjoys making others happy at any cost, and often buys them little things likes snacks, cards or what have you. It was infuriating to lack the one thing that everybody expected of her, even outside of being the youngest daughter of a well known hero.

Things only worsened as she grew older, eventually transferring to a mixed class school as her mother had remained determined that this could be what drew her daughter's power out. Life in such a place was hell, as those without powers were subject to rule by those with them. Yunagi was frequently the target for bullying at the expense of not being able to defend herself. It caused the girl to view herself as the issue to everything. If she had been born with a quirk, none of it would have happened. She would be with her sister and celebrated like everyone else. But she was instead, surrounded by the worst that her age group had to offer. Her disagreements with this school caused a rift between herself and her mother, which has lasted to this very day.

It wasn't until one day, where Yunagi had been receiving the routine treatment of not relinquishing "protection" money to the other girls possessing quirks. After a short fight and getting surrounded, she had experienced a sudden breakdown, as those looking on that day had reported she'd start to appear unstable. The fight continued as she was pinned against the wall, with her attackers ready to continue the beating until something had changed inside of her. Yunagi screeched in discomfort, feeling a strange energy come off of her body.

Around her, things had begun to disintegrate at an alarming rate. Locked were letting out creaks and groans as they buckled, bags and small items were being worn away to a finite fust that swirled around the girl and only fueled her meltdown. The bullies that had been close by would suffer from their clothes being ruined and bodies burned from the disintegration effect being minor on their bodies. It wasn't until a teacher would step in and have to render her unconscious with a singing power that Yunagi lay on the floor, her uniform disintegrated and a sand like element around her.

The event had caused an uproar among the parents of the students who had lost belongings as a result of this. Yunagi refused to leave her room for days, weeks on end as she was scared of what she had developed. Her mother, proud of her daughter for being a late bloomer, would eventually coax her daughter into continuing to chase her dreams of following her on the path of becoming a hero. Yunagi did slowly agree to transfer to the U.A. in hopes of pursuing a Heroics degree.

But what she found was that the same people who had treated her so different back in her previous classes for not possessing a quirk had suddenly greeted her like any number of fellow heroes. She viewed the world with apathetic eyes, knowing full well of what the quirkless people of the world had gone through and not forgetting what her experiences were. This has caused Yunagi some amount of hesitation with people she's unfamiliar with, believing they only like her for her quirk.

Water You Doing? :: The dust isn't completely immune to all other forces. Water will cause the bonds between the dust particles to lump together and become waterlogged, reducing its effectiveness. Small amounts of water will not overpower the entirety of the dust.
