APPEARANCE

Yunagi began life as the youngest of two daughters to Mariko and Quintin Katahara. With her mother being a pro hero and her father being a tailor for her mother's hero organization, there were some pretty large boots for the girl to fill. And yet, it must have been some stroke of irony that the girl would be quirkless by the time she had hit four years old. With no latent power manifesting, it placed her at a great disadvantage. All her life, she had watched from afar while her older sister, a student in hero schools and courses, would leave for the day as she went to a basic kind of school. It was infuriating to lack the one thing that everybody expected of her, even outside of being the youngest daughter of a well known hero.

Things only worsened as she grew older, eventually transferring to a mixed class school as her mother had remained determined that this could be what drew her daughter's power out. Life in such a place was hell, as those without powers were subject to rule by those with them. Yunagi was frequently the target for bullying at the expense of not being able to defend herself. It caused the girl to view herself as the issue to everything. If she had been born with a quirk, none of it would have happened. She would be with her sister and celebrated like everyone else. But she was instead, surrounded by the worst that her age group had to offer. Her disagreements with this school caused a rift between herself and her mother, which has lasted to this very day.

It wasn't until one day, where Yunagi had been receiving the routine treatment of not relinquishing "protection" money to the other girls possessing quirks. After a short fight and getting surrounded, she had experienced a sudden breakdown, as those looking on that day had reported she'd start to appear unstable. The fight continued as she was pinned against the wall, with her attackers ready to continue the beating until something had changed inside of her. Yunagi screeched in discomfort, feeling a strange energy come off of her body.

Around her, things had begun to disintegrate at an alarming rate. Locked were letting out creaks and groans as they buckled, bags and small items were being worn away to a finite fust that swirled around the girl and only fueled her meltdown. The bullies that had been close by would suffer from their clothes being ruined and bodies burned from the disintegration effect being minor on their bodies. It wasn't until a teacher would step in and have to render her unconscious with a singing power that Yunagi lay on the floor, her uniform disintegrated and a sand like element around her.

The event had caused an uproar among the parents of the students who had lost belongings as a result of this. Yunagi refused to leave her room for days, weeks on end as she was scared of what she had developed. Her mother, proud of her daughter for being a late bloomer, would eventually coax her daughter into continuing to chase her dreams of following her on the path of becoming a hero. Yunagi did slowly agree to transfer to the U.A. in hopes of pursuing a Heroics degree.

But what she found was that the same people who had treated her so different back in her previous classes for not possessing a quirk had suddenly greeted her like any number of fellow heroes. She viewed the world with apathetic eyes, knowing full well of what the quirkless people of the world had gone through and not forgetting what her experiences were. This has caused Yunagi some amount of hesitation with people she's unfamiliar with, believing they only like her for her quirk.
