It was a wonderful spring day in Tokyo, Japan, If one considered an earthquake and the sudden appearance of earth golems to be wonderful. Smoke spewed into the air from the fire that erupted from burst gas lines and fallen electrical poles as people screamed and wailed as the tried to escape the calamity that had just befallen them all. Most of the larger buildings, having been built to withstand such natural disasters had remained intact. But the smaller, one story houses and stores were not so lucky, collapsing from the violent tremors and trapping their occupants underneath the rubble. To make the situation worse, golem's ranging from the size of small children to small adults poured out of the ground, destroying everything they could get their grubby little hands on. It was true chaos in the best sense of the word.

A woman screamed and exited her car as three golems jumped on top of it before beginning to pound on it, only to find a four more surrounding her, waiting to pounce. A man called out four help as two golems began to drag him off towards one of the holes in the ground to do god knows what with the poor soul. Everywhere around the small Tokyo district screams and cries for help could be heard as people desperately hoped for salvation before they were consumed by flames, or crushed by debris, or kidnapped by Golems. It was a tough situation though, with the emergence of a much larger golem in the area most of the nearby heroes had been tasked with subduing the creatures leaving the pleading civilians at the mercy of first responders and anyone else who was nearby.


TL;DR: Earthquake happened destroying some of the area, to make things worse, Earth Golems have emerged and have started attacking and kidnapping people.

OOC: welcome to the gravel event! Ya'll have been tasked with fighting the golems and saving the trapped civilians in the surrounding area while other people deal with the bigger Golem! Ya'll have four days from the last person who posted to post before you're skipped over! Have fun!

Of all the things Freja had been prepared for today, hell descending on Nerima was not one of them. She had been caught in villain attacks before, but never something of this scale. This was something entirely different. Despite not having a license yet, she was quick to step in and act to save as many people as she could. Turned out having a tendency to get into trouble could come with its own set of advantages too.

She was supposed to meet up with Rin, Yunagi, Emilia and Iphigenia-sensei, but for some ominous reason Emilia hadn't shown up yet. Was she okay? Was she fighting against these weird earth golems too? She couldn't shake the thought as she batted one of the golems away from the man who was being dragged into a hole. ''Let him go!'' She commanded, pointing her bat at the golem, hoping to take its attention away from the civilian so he could evacuate from this area. ''Sensei! What do we do? What's going on?'' She called out to Iphigenia while keeping her focus on the golem. She was scared for Yunagi and Rin too, but as long as they all stuck together they could have each others' backs. Still, she knew her roommates wasn't as used to being in the middle of the chaos like this.

She could only hope that no other students from their school found themselves unfortunate enough to be in Nerima today, and that Emi was okay.

I never thought I'd see

Iphi was delighted when she got the request from Sadako. Rin originally had asked if Sadako could take her and her 3 roommates on patrol. Sadako ultimately had work to do so she passed it on to Iphi, who eagerly said yes. She hadn't seen Rin in a while and wanted to see how UAU was treating her.

Nothing particular was going on that day, so Iphi chose Nerima as their patrol. It was usually peaceful and she would be able to explain how patrols worked and get to know the other freshmen. That was until all hell broke loose. Just a few minutes after they met up, a massive earthquake could be felt throughout the whole ward.

As much as Iphi's concern was keeping the students with her safe, she was even more concerned over losing contact with the last member of their group: Emilia Hall. From what she told her roommates, she was in the epicenter of whatever was going on with no way to contact them as the rumbling had knocked over phone lines. "Stay right here. I need to go get Emilia." Iphi was about to head over to where the golem had appeared when miniature ones popped out and began to attack the group. She bit her lip slightly as she weighed her options, but ultimately, she would have to put her faith in Emilia to survive and focus on protecting those closest to her.

"This is an emergency. Per the UAU handbook, page 25, section 4, you are authorized to use your quirks in times of crisis." she readied her gauntlet and fired it at a golem running at her, blowing it into pieces "Rin and Yunagi. You are going to evacuate as many people as you can. Freja and I will assist you two in dispatching these golems. Are you all prepared?"

It had been a plain old day when the call had come in. Yunagi frowned in worry when her and the rest of her group were called to come to patrol around the city with Sadako on patrol alongside a faculty member. This was to be her first outing on hero time, especially in front of other people! The poor girl was terrorized with worry and fear. What if something bad happened while they were out? This was just supposed to be a rest day from classwork! Everything was doing well up until Iphigenia had been informed about an attack on the city. The pro hero student had arrived on the scene alongside her small team. Golems wandered the streets, some attacking civilians while others rampaged across Tokyo. Her mind was frozen with fear, and her hands shook out of control. She looked to her sensei for guidance as a plan of action was brought forth. Iphi wanted to get Emilia as Yunagi nodded. "I h-hope she's alright..."

Just then, miniature golems had sprang up around their immediate vicinity, targeting them specifically. Yunagi backed away in worry, just in time to bump into another golem and then flounder back to the group. "How does Mom and nii-san do this kind of thing?! I'm terrified I might die here and being useless..." She thoughts to herself, feeling the pressure more than any test could bring upon the poor girl. Still, she'd listen to Iphigenia give the orders. Rin and her had their duties. She stood up straight and nodded at the head head. "Y-Yes, ma'am!" then took off towards some of the civilians hiding from the threat. Yunagi hurried over to some of the people and would yell over to them. "This way! We need to get you guys to safety! Drop everything and run!"

Some civilians did just that. Seeing their chance for escape and hurrying to the alleyway that Yunagi had pointed out where the golems wouldn't be able to harm them. It led to deeper in the city where authorities were and could likely get them to a dedicated safe zone. Some remained in their hiding spots, but one in particular were trapped by some of the rubble that had been caused by the golems attacking. Yunagi ran over with a conflicted expression. Should she try and disintegrate all of this? What if she hurt the people underneath like last time? Or lost control? Her legs trembled, feeling the incoming panic attack as she'd look back at the golems. WHy did they get the easy part?!

"I really don't want to use my power, b-but I can't lift this by myself. Looks like I don't have a choice..."

Yunagi focused on the bricks as the air around her would cease to move. The bricks and foundation of the building trapping people in would begin to disintegrate slowly. Stone slowly becoming less heavy and solid, crumbling to a fine white dust. It was a slow process, one Yunagi had to stay focused on.

The situation was rapidly spiraling out of control. Even from this distance Iphi could see that the center of the ward was where the chaos was focused the most. It was entirely likely all the major fighting was happening there and based on the magnitude of the earthquakes they were experiencing she could take a guess where the waves were coming from. If Emilia was truly in that area she just hoped she chose to run instead of stay and fight. Those around her had basically no experience when it came to actual combat, at least the kind that wasn't simulated, and it showed. They were all understandably rattled by the experience but managed to hold it together to listen to her orders.

She didn't want to scare them further, so she tried to keep the next bit brief."I know it might be scary, but you need to prioritize yourselves first, then civilians, and lastly, me. Having a hero license means you're responsible for prioritizing others first." she'd cover Yunagi by firing a blast of compressed air from her gauntlet to shatter it to pieces. "Once we clear this area, we're going to move clockwise and clear out as many buildings as we can." she'd muster up the most reassuring smile she could. "I believe in all of you."

She hated it, but when the quakes happened the first thing Rin did was fall over. If it was just that she probably would have been embarrassed, but she'd pick herself up and try to laugh it off. But when she went to do that is when the source of the quakes became clear, and Rin just kind of... locked up. Eyes wide, frozen where she was, she probably would have recovered faster if Iphi had gone off to get Emi and they were told to stay put. She was great at staying put.

Those plans changed and it was suddenly up to them to help, Iphi quickly grouping them up with different tasks and it was that sudden responsibility that made Rin freeze up. What if she messed up? What if she wasn't quick enough? What if her quirk wasn't good enough? What if that mini-golem about to attack Yunagi-

Rin managed to stumble to her feet and was about to try and make a buffer of snow between Yunagi and her attacker when it shattered into pieces, Iphi blowing it to bits before any harm could be done. It was a huge relief, but it left Rin stalling out again and she probably would have gone right back into her motionless worrying. Except Iphi gave them a simple, somehow reassuring plan and a vote of confidence.

"R-right!" Rin snapped to attention, feeling silly for locking up and somehow sillier for being snapped out of it by simple encouragement - that shouldn't be needed for her to get into gear should it? Bringing her hands up over her mouth she called out "If you're stuck, give a shout!" as loud as she could while following the clockwise plan Iphi had suggested. She wasn't strong, her Quirk couldn't get rid of rubble or destroy the mini-golems, but she could still help a little! Even if it was just finding people for the others to rescue, right?

It was happening. This was actually happening.

Freja wanted nothing more but for Iphi to go and get Emi, to know that they were all safe together, but she also knew that the situation here was too dangerous. That she could only hope Emi had found allies of her own, and well, her roomie was pretty tough. Out of anyone to be separated from the group, she felt the most confident about Emi making it on her own. For now they had their own stuff to deal with, a seemingly endless amount of golems emerging from the ground. Was there no end to them? Could all of this really be caused by a single quirk?

''Understood, Sensei!'' She nodded, readying her bat. With Iphi being here and handing out orders, it was somehow easier to comprehend it all. Stick with the team for now, backup the other girls and follow Iphi's example. That was all she had to do. When Rin called for people to shout if they were trapped, Freja did hear some muffled voices, but it was brief as a golem came right for her. Blocking its hands with her bat, she quickly glanced around at her surroundings, using the small fence the golem was trying to climb over as leverage as she stomped her foot down against it, pulling with all her weight to send the golem crashing overhead, where she could eventually smash it to bits on the ground. ''You heard her! We can do this everyone!'' She panted, wiping sweat from her brow as she looked around for more trouble, catching a glimpse of Yunagi's quirk in the process. It was seriously impressive what she could do when she put her mind to it.

Yunagi hadn't been available to swing her head behind her and take notice of the incoming fist headed straight for her and remained focused on helping the civilians out to the most of her power. The sudden burst of air had caused her to let out a yelp. Her emotions flaring up at the moment had caused her quirk to experience a sudden burst of power. The wall that had been crushing the person underneath the rubble would quickly do away with the majority of the brickwork. Seeing this as a nice little gain, Yunagi pushed the rest off and helped the woman to her feet.

"Quick, follow the rest of the people!"

She ran off as Yunagi turned back to face Iphi and flashed an apologetic face. "Sorry for taking so long, Sensei!" she called out, listening to the red haired woman's plan of action for everyone. It was a relief that somebody was available to them that could plan ahead and get them all through this mission. She breathed in and out as she tried to control herself while her quirk was still active to try and assist the others in defeating the golems while moving onto the next few blocks. ALong her path, she passed by Freja, who would just so effortlessly taken care of one of the mini golems.

"N-Nice job, Frey-chan! You're, um, doing good!" she shouted out while on her way to the next building. She passed by Rin, who looked just as terrified. Yunagi couldn't blame her too much, she was the same way. But she'd try and cheer her on regardless, waving over to her. "R-Rin, I, um, need your help with this office building. There's people trapped on the third floor and I can't reach them. Maybe your quirk can help them get down from there?" Yunagi said before waiting for the other girl to assist her.

This processes repeated like the last one, with Yunagi yelling for people inside to slowly make their way out and to the dedicated safe zone before they would end up getting hurt. Everything seemed to be going well so far, and there weren't any people trapped down here now! She'd watch Freyja and Iphi work on battling the golems around them, while her mind wandered to Emi and if she was alright. Her quirk started to pick up again as she had to hold her breath and will herself to calm down.

She'd be okay. They'd all go home and laugh and go out for food when this was over. Yunagi would make sure they would.

The girls were unnerved but doing great! Both Iphi and Sadako weren't subjected to something as insane as this until well into the point where they had their provisional licenses. It was easy to remain calm when you had been exposed to things of this level for years and years. These girls were getting a baptism by fire.

Another earthquake would punctuate their efforts, helping the group by shifting some of the debris away from them and exposing the last of the group they needed to extract. Unknown to her and the rest of the group, this was caused by The Rumbling Golem slamming down on Emi and crushing her over near the center of the area. 'Given we can still stand that wasn't greater than a 6.0' figuring Emi was durable enough to survive any debris, but not yet knowing her fate she would make a new call "There are other groups en route. We're going to move counterclockwise and free as many trapped civilians as possible. We'll let the emergency services handle their wounds; focus on getting them clear!" she would destroy another golem and take a quick vantage point to make sure their path was clear, and then once the girls gathered up to move out, she'd give them each a quick pep talk.

"Freja, keep up the good work, and remember to take a breather." she pointed, noting the sweat and heaving breaths "Trust me as someone who relies on physical abilities and gear, you can't save anyone if you can't save yourself." Yunagi was next "Yunagi, I know how stressful this is and I know how worried you are about Emilia, but the most important thing to focus on now is your quirk. Take a deep breath and focus all your energy on keeping control we have your back, so you'll be safe." lastly was Rin who Iphi felt had more of a bond and more of an understanding than the rest. She would be a bit less formal placing her hands on her shoulders as she spoke "Rin, you're doing wonderful. Don't compare yourself to others and instead of focusing on what you can't do focus on what you can do. Think about what snow could do to help in this situation, its properties and how it can be used to support others. I believe in you" With all that being said she'd move down from the rubble and onto the street, moving quickly in the direction of The Rumbling.

[Rin]

Rin did her best not to just be impressed with everyone taking out the mini-golems so effectively, doing her best to contribute in what small ways she could. It was hard not to let some distracting thoughts wiggle their way in though, the brunette wondering if she should hit the gym or get some piece of gear made or find some way to make snow more useful. Not that she hadn't already spent a lot of time trying to find out what her Quirk could be good at.

Yunagi calling for her attention pushed those thoughts aside and for a moment Rin locked up. But then Iphi had more encouragement and advice to give, and she responded with two hasty nods in a row and throwing her hands out. "R-right, on it!" With a little focus snow spilled out onto the ground, forming a big fluffy pile. If you compacted it enough maybe you could make a snow bridge or something, but she didn't have the time for that or the confidence that she could make sure it was reliable and safe. But she also knew skiers and the like fell from pretty far up into snow all the time and were just fine, so... to rescue the people on the third floor Rin made a really, really big pile of snow. Probably bigger than it needed to be, but she wasn't going to risk underdoing it! Once she was sort-of-mostly confident it was enough she called out "Jump down! I-it'll be okay!" to the people trapped above and if all went well they'd find themselves landing safely.

Temporarily cold and having to flop their way out of the snow, but safe all the same! Rin would hastily make it easier on them by moving the snow out of their way, letting them get on their feet and continue to evacuate a little bit faster.

She smiled for a brief moment as Yunagi complimented her, but didn't have the time to stand around and dwell on it. Her brain was working overtime and all she could think about was whether Emi was safe or not. She caught herself as another earthquake shook the area, looking around as if she was waiting for the disaster to worsen, but it never came. ''Yes, sensei!'' She replied simply, spinning her bat around and taking aim at a golem with the tip of it, before firing her grappling hook into its head, knocking it off its body and causing it to crumble apart.

Retracting the hook again, she looked over at Iphi as she approached her. ''R-Right..'' She had never needed a bottle of water so much in her life. Maybe she was overdoing it. Maybe it was better to try and conserve her energy so that she didn't tire herself out needlessly. To make the people who were about to jump down on Rin's snow pile feel safer, Freja ran over to the other side of the pile, cutting off any golems that might come for the civilians as they jumped to safety.

''It's okay! The snow is safe!'' She chimed in, trying to reinforce Rin's words even though she knew her roomie probably didn't need it. It was from this position that she noticed someone hiding under a parked truck. ''Hey, this way! We're here to save you!'' She ran over to offer him a hand and guide him back to the other civilians. One feeling that she couldn't shake, one that would stick with her for a long time was how shellshocked he was. He probably didn't even see her or any of the others. A shaking, whimpering mess, he was a haunting image of what Nerima had become during this elemental attack.

Exceedingly proud of these girls and how fast they were adapting to the situation. Rin especially was showing that she really did have what it took to be a hero. Iphi would make a mental note to relay this to Sadako later as she very much wanted to hear about Rin's progress. It was unfortunate that it came with the mass destruction of The Rumbling to bring this out.

Iphi was scanning the battlefield intently, making sure the structural integrity of the buildings held and that those being evacuated weren't harassed by any of these mini-golems. Essentially she was running constant strategies and trying to time the arrival of the other heroes and medical services with how many people they evacuated.

Her concern over Emi would continue to grow, peaking when she heard the large explosions and subsequent disarming of the golem. Unbeknownst to her that battle was coming to an end, and they were going to be desperately needed soon enough. The sound made Iphi change direction just in time as some support showed up "Rin, Freja, Yunagi we're moving out! We need to get to the center quickly" she didn't want to freak the girls out more than she had to but she also wanted to press the urgency. She would motion for them to follow and then she would start running turning back occasionally to make sure the girls could keep up.

The scene they arrived on was an absolute bloodbath. 4 students and ones she was all familiar with as freshmen. Quickly scanning the battlefield, she looked for signs of what had done this to them, but there was...nothing. Then she spotted her: Emi. She was face down on the pavement in a pool of her own blood, heavily bleeding, with the others around her not looking much better.

With a look of panic, she'd whip her head around and call out to Rin, "I need you to make as much snow as possible and as cold as you can make it!" she'd waste no time getting her first aid kit out and she'd tear off her sleeve to make a tourniquet to stop some of the heavier bleeding. "Freja, Yunagi tend to the others we need to gather them in this one spot." she'd pull out her phone and hit the speed dial "I need an emergency evac. Nermima Kasugacho 4-chome. We have critical UAU student and three more that are heavily to moderately injured." She'd hang up and perform as much prep work as she could on Emi. When Rin would produce the snow she would pack that under her to slow down the bleeding and alleviate the swelling on her shattered arm. No one was going to die, not under her watch. Not again.

Each sound of an explosion going off made her flinch and look around, expecting the bombs to fall on them next. She didn't know it yet, but it would take a while for the sounds of the explosions to leave her head. Long after the events of the Rumbling had taken place. ''Right!'' She called out, looking at Iphigenia and the other girls before following her into what could only be hell on earth.

A dust cloud blew in her face as they arrived at the center, causing her to cough and heave as she ran forward, desperate to find more survivors. Hoping that everything turned out okay. Hopes that were dashed in an instant when she got a good look at the scene. She dropped her bat without even registering it. All she could see was Emi facedown in a pool of her own blood. When she started hyperventilating her eyes grew blurry too... Tears? It felt like she lost control of her own body as she collapsed onto her knees and put her hands over her head, letting out a type of scream she had never done before. Looking up she registered shapes, other students she knew, they were all hurt, everyone was...

She barely heard any of what Iphigenia said, unlike earlier in the attack she was completely paralyzed, tears streaming down her face as she struggled to get back onto her feet. ''Th-They're all- everyone is...'' Still shellshocked, she slowly pushed her body to move towards the nearest student. How could she help? She didn't even know where to start, were they all going to die out here?

It had all been manageable, so easy so far. Maybe a bit stressful because of worrying about the state of the civilians but at least she wasn't on the front lines at her current expertise. Yunagi helped capture some of the civilians who had gotten unlucky enough to be trapped on the third story down from Rin's ice wall. It wasn't as help as either of the other girls but she was trying! Just when the last person slid down, Yunagi turned to her partner with a smile.

"Thanks, Rin. We should head back to-"

BOOM!

An explosion rocked through the area as one of the buildings from nearby could be heard. The girl looked over as her panic levels were starting to rise. Emi was still over there. She looked to Iphigenia as her head was starting to pound again. Her disintegration effects were slowly eating away at her makeshift suit, but she'd try and calm herself enough to follow her group over to the site of the explosion. Her heart was beating in her wars on the way over. There was fear in every step she took, her heart sinking lower and lower into the pit of her stomach.

"Please be okay, please be okay..." she murmured to herself.

The group arrived just in time to glance at the aftermath of the battle. Destruction was everywhere, a sense of forlorn hope rising from the ashes of rubble around them. Bodies laid motionless around them. People who had come to the UAU with hopes, dreams and had family waiting for them back home to check in. All would be in critical condition. Yunagi covered her mouth at the sight of them. A horrific sight to bare witness to.

And there she was, lying in a pool of her own blood. Their roommate. Emi.

At the sight of it, Yunagi would seize with absolute despair. Freyja cried out to the right of them as the lavender haired girl couldn't hold back her emotions any longer. Her head felt ready to come out of her skull. It was happening again. Organic materiels were beginning to dissasemble themselves, brushing away as white dust around Yunagi. Her own uniform was slowly being eaten away, starting at the arms and legs as she couldn't stop herself. Given her inexperience with her quirk, even the larger structures were slowly adding to the effect. Smaller chunks of rubble were cleared away immediately, as the larger chunks were barely touched. ANy material that wasn't some kind of uniform or anything was disintegrating away.

"Emi..." Yunagi tried to speak, collapsing to her knees as the migraine. They were too slow with coming over. Yunagi could have broken away, disobeyed orders to try and protect her. All other sounds became muted as the girl felt salty, stinging tears. The disintegration dust swirled around her in orbit, burning anything that could come close if left near her for too long. "Wh-What do we do? I don't know how to help...I don't know how to help..."

Freja helping protect everyone and giving that little bit of extra encouragement to the trapped civillians, and Yunagi thanking Rin with a smile, actually made the brunette feel kind of good. Nothing bad happened, she didn't mess up or fail to react quickly enough. Her focus was on making snow though, and making sure everyone that jumped down was okay, and like Freja she couldn't help but dwell on the especially shell shocked. Not for long though, Rin glancing ovr towards Iphi as a boom rang out and instructions to head for the center had everyone running along.

In the apprehensive approach towards the center, Rin kept pace with the group. Maybe it was because of Iphi making sure to keep them all together, maybe Rin was just faster on her feet than she gave herself credit for, but when they all arrived together she didn't even realize she'd slowed down as the scene registered. She didn't notice she'd stopped altogether either, eyes wide and starting to water, all the worst thoughts she could think of started coming in. Everyone was dead, they were too slow, she should have been faster, she should have been stronger, she should have helped Emi, she should have been -

Rin didn't really hear Freja's scream, or notice Yunagi's Quirk slowly eating away at her surroundings. She did hear Iphi though, calling on Rin to make as much of the coldest snow she could make, turning to look at her in stunned silence for a split second. "O-on it!" She stammered, moving, hands out and denser, colder snow piling up as Rin's bit back her tears and fears and just focused on making snow.

As cold as she could, as much as Iphi needed, as cold as she could, as much as Iphi needed, as could as she could, as much as Iphi needed.
