Eiji had confirmed it many times before, but for some reason his recent encounter with Grinta had really cemented it. He was weak, maybe borderline useless. It sucked, he was one of the top ranking members of the Hummingbirds and he was out here taking loss after loss like he had just started fighting yesterday. He didn't understand what The Brain saw in him at all. Maybe he never would, Eiji wasn't made for that kind of big thinking anyways.

He had found a nice clearing in the forest where he could construct some basic wooden dummies out of grass and branches. He wouldn't mind training back at the park, but he didn't want to make the others worry either. If his gang saw him sulking like this, what would they think? The Heart wasn't supposed to act like that, he wasn't supposed to let these little things get to him. No, surely he had to bottle up his emotions and fight this fight himself. Not just for his own sake, but for the sake of everyone else too. He couldn't let one more loss ruin his image.

Having lined up a couple of dummies, Eiji took a deep breath as he looked down at his prosthetic arm. Only way he was going to get better was by training his quirk or his body. Charging at the first dummy, he swung a fist at it, lighting up his prosthetic arm moments before impact, setting off a spark that ignited a fire that engulfed the dummy in seconds. ''Not bad!'' He grinned, putting his hands on his hips as he admired his own handiwork...

Only to realize that he had no way to put out the fire.

''Uh..'' He looked around, no one saw him, right?

Eiji started to panic as he stomped on the fire, he had heard somewhere that that kind of helped??

There was something cozy with looking out the big windows of her house into the vast forest that was so close to her. A sigh filled her before she exhaled it easily. It was nothing but peaceful and perfect where she was right now. Yawning just a little bit, she was trying her best to not doze off on such a tranquil day; when there was nothing to do, she enjoyed to drift away and allow herself to enjoy the silence that came with her location.

As she closed her eyes for just a moment, she saw a small puff of smoke come from the air inside the forest. No, someone wasn't trying to start a fire inside her forest, right? Perking up, she'd grab her bow and quiver and start to furiously head to the source of the smoke. It didn't take her long to find some bumbling idiot trying to put out a fire that he started. She'd stare in disbelief before turning around and grabbing a bucket from her house and filling it with nearby stream water.

By the time that she had came back, she wasn't even sure how big it had gotten, but she immediately cover the dummies as well as the living dummy with the water. Oops, but also it was probably for the best with how he had just started a fire in a forest!

Shit, shit, shit!

Stomping on the fire wasn't working. Panicking he looked around. A branch? No that would catch fire. Maybe if he slapped it with his prosthetic hand? It was worth a shot! Sweating profusely from the growing inferno, Chiharu returned in time to see the flames had grown and that Eiji was bent over on the ground, slapping the fire with his prosthetic hand in a useless effort to try and do something about his own act of arson.

Reeling as the metal in his arm heated up, Eiji grimaced as he tried not to burn himself, just in time to see Chiharu arrive like an absolute hero with that water bucket. With the dummies doused, the crisis had been averted. ''Heh, thanks. That was a close one.'' He grinned, giving her a thumbs up. ''I'm Eiji, but my friends call me Guts!'' He dusted himself off as he stood up, pointing a thumb at his chest proudly as he introduced himself, as if he hadn't been the one who had just started a fire moments ago. ''You came in clutch with that bucket, you some kinda firefighter or something? I didn't think you were stationed all the way out here, but then again, normally I don't come out into the forest. Who knew trees and shrubs were so flammable?'' He laughed loudly, completely carefree about the whole incident.

Ah, it was nice to see that she had gotten enough water. With the fire put out and the man half wet due to it, Chiharu gave him a blank stare. Why was he going through the trouble of introducing himself? If Chiharu had any say in it, she would just be turning around and heading home. Out of courtesy, she'd instead hold onto the bucket she'd used to put out the water, and watch him idly.

She wasn't a firefighter at all, but she wasn't sure that she needed to say that. The girl looked down to her attire, which was all hand-made, and then back to him with a raised eyebrow. No one would wear something like this to be an actual firefighter. She'd nod to his introduction nonetheless, seeing that his attire was so different from her own. Clutching onto the bucket, she wondered if he'd be cold now that he was half drenched in water. It wasn't my issue anymore. Her thoughts betrayed what she saw, Chiharu settling to give a disgruntled look at him. Finally, she'd speak. "I live near here, you are disturbing my forest." It wasn't solely her forest, as she shared it with the wildlife, but she hoped that it would deter him from trying to do whatever he did again. "How did..." Chiharu looked around him in search of a lighter. "How did the fire start?"

''What?'' It wasn't until she raised an eyebrow that he took another look. No helmet, no firefighting uniform. Did she live out here? The part about disturbing her forest certainly seemed to suggest so. ''I'm not disturbing any forest, I'm training!'' Surely this was all just a misunderstanding. ''The fire?'' He smirked, holding out his prosthetic arm to demonstrate his quirk as he sent a short burst of flames through it. ''Just a little something my power can do, no biggie! My quirk is creating fire, I'm pretty awesome at it!'' He was all proud about it too, not thinking very far ahead about how bad this whole incident could have turned out had Chiharu not arrived to prevent a forest fire.

''How did you get here so fast anyway? Do you live in a treehouse?'' Last he checked he hadn't noticed any houses among the trees. Was she alone or was there a whole hidden community? It wasn't the worst place to hide away from the world. By comparison, him and the Hummingbirds gang was a lot more exposed to criminals or the authorities out in their abandoned theme park. If they ever needed it, maybe one day they could flee to the forest as a sort of plan B? ''What's your name? Do you own this forest?''

"I do not think you are good at it if you set things on fire you cannot extinguish." She'd sigh, her shoulders slumping in a heaved motion. "Wood is very flammable, you should be careful." Not even wood, but the grass, moss, and most things that Eiji could place his eyes onto. That was besides the point though, and it would most likely only confuse him if she stayed there and listed off everything he could have set on fire.

"I have a house here." The here was meaning in the forest, as she would not give a direction to the stranger. "You should think of any place as someone's home- it is rude for you to destroy it for practice." There was nice sections of the forest that were mostly stone- she hoped that he would go to those places instead to do his little "practice" session.

"I do not own this forest, a forest cannot be owned." Chiharu said plainly, looking at him with concern in her face. "Satporopet is my last name, and since you are a stranger you can address me as such." A confident nod would come from her, letting it be known that she felt confident with her comment. "And yourself, fire man? Do you have a name?" She'd pause, before looking over him once more. "...If you really want to practice, I can show you better locations."

''Huh?'' Not very good at it? It was a stab at his pride, but it was true. ''Well, it's not like I control flames...'' He looked down at his prosthetic arm. ''I only create them, once they're out there they run wild like fires tend to do.'' He looked back at Chiharu, confident smile plastered back on his face. ''I guess that's why I'm training!'' He blinked his eyes at what she said next. ''You do?? All the way out here? Doesn't it get lonely? It must take forever to get to the city whenever you want to go shopping.''

''W-Well I...'' Damn, she got him there. It wasn't like he meant to destroy her home, or anyone's home for that matter. He just needed to blow off some steam and get away from his gang for a bit and well, this place was isolated enough to fit the bill. The fact that he shouldn't set off a fire quirk in a dense forest? Thinking wasn't his strong suit, at least not when he had a lot of pent up emotions. Letting out a small, defeated sigh he bowed his head at her. ''I'm sorry. You're right, that wasn't my intent.'' What made him any better than the villains he fought if he brought destruction and misfortune to those around him?

''Really? I thought there was an owner for anything these days.'' So the forest was a free place... What a strangely comforting thought. ''Satporopet? Got it!'' He gave her a thumbs up and a winning smile. ''Me? Uh, yeah I'm Eiji Harada, but my nickname is Guts so you can call me whatever you want.'' Had he said his name already? He honestly wasn't sure anymore, not that it mattered. If she had come into his home and started breaking things he would have acted out far more than she had and probably been too upset to remember the little details. ''You mean it? Lead the way! I don't want to ruin the forest.''

"Should you not learn to control them if you produce them? It seems like a dangerous quirk if you cannot do both." It was just for destruction if there was no control. Her arms were crossed around her, almost defensively; it felt odd to talk to someone that was so oblivious of how others lived. "I live here with others, it isn't that bad. We make or have most things to eat and survive." Most people her age would not be living sustainably, she knew that.

She'd give a happy nod to him apologizing, knowing that perhaps that's all she needed. "I suppose the government owns it, technically, but it is otherwise free land. For the animals, and for those that know how to take and give. Guts?" She'd blink, thinking only of the animals she had cut open over the time her being in the forest. Guts were nothing special, they just were.

With him agreeing, she would turn and motion with her head for him to follow. She'd stay silent for a while, making sure that she didn't get lost and remembered exactly where she wanted to take him. A few minutes passed before they would enter a clearing. The trees were cut and burnt, the grass a gross yellowish brown. "This is what happens when people like you do not control their flames." The scorched earth stretched or a while, but not enough that you'd be able to notice it unless you knew where it was. "So, here, your flames will have no impact."

''It is. I've tried training it, but it seems like no matter what I do my quirk never fully listens to me.'' It was the reason he had lost his arm after all. His prosthetic wasn't just for show, and he hadn't gotten it as part of some heroic sacrifice to save his friends and family like they did in the movies, no. He lost his arm the first time he used his quirk, burned to ashes in seconds. ''Do you know that feeling? When your quirk somehow feels like it isn't your own?''

When she explained that she not only lived here, but how she did it immediately clicked for him. Him and his gang lived out of an abandoned amusement park and they did whatever they could to help each other survive too. It helped him connect the similarities in their situations, even if they weren't that similar to begin with. ''That doesn't sound so bad when you put it like that.'' He pointed a thumb at his chest. ''It's the same for me. Me and my folks live in an abandoned amusement park. Someone technically owns it, but they don't care to check on it or throw us out so we made it our home.'' He nodded his head softly. ''Guts, like being tough.''

He had come out here because he felt frustrated with himself, those emotions had been deafeningly loud, but walking through the forest following Chiharu he saw a different side to it. It was quiet here, serene, he could hear his own thoughts clearly and he wasn't angry and frustrated anymore. ''H-Huh?!'' He ran forward into the clearing. ''Really? Someone else did this? I could-'' It could so easily have been him. Go into the forest start a fire and go home again without considering who it was affecting. ''Thank you! And... Sorry again for earlier, I promise I'll remember this place and come back here if I ever need to.'' He smiled. ''If you ever need anything, The Hummingbirds owe you a favor.''
