Chaos reigned when hundreds lost their Quirks and had them replaced with new ones. The change was sudden. No one knew what was going on. Most panicked over the loss of their Quirk, the fear of the unknown preventing them from learning to control whatever it was they got replaced with. Though some were actually excited about the prospect of being given something they've never had before.

The UAU cafeteria was filled with such people, talking to their friends about the powers they discovered. One could lift things with their mind. Another could hear the inner thoughts of those close to them. Someone was walking on the ceiling. In any case, there was a lot more activity in terms of Quirk usage as students tried to learn to control their new abilities. As long as no one was going crazy with it, they were allowed to practice within the campus.

Though there was one lone table in the corner that was empty of occupants, yet on the table was a plate of sushi. It wasn't that strange a sight; someone could've just left it there in all the excitement.

Except a piece would disappear into nothing if someone looked at the plate when it happened.

But no one would surely. There was a lot more interesting stuff happening between the shooting stars and flying plates.

[attr="class","sixShpost"]heheWhat an odd day it was! Spontaneously erupting out from the midst of the spring, a whole swath of new quirks burst forth from the earth and out from the people! All throughout Japan, through the whimsy of the sudden shift, the world became even more mystical than it already was! What caused the sudden shift? What awakened these entirely different abilities?

heheClaudio certainly didn't know! No, as the cloud ducked and weaved between flying pool balls, levitating books, and out from the dormitories, he made his way up through and towards the cafeteria. Further through hallways of similar shenanigans — of the occasional person on the wall, of another projecting their consciousness, etc. — through lawns of other mutual buffoonery, Claudio made his way into the main building and into the place of his aim: The cafeteria.

heheOther such games went on. Tamer as it may be in a place where slips could ruin clothes — for the cloud, he didn't want to have to walk around the rest of his day in sticky, dried clothing — he still had to wind and juke to make his way past, shifting as freely with his form as they played with their powers.

heheAn abrupt fork came in from his right, fired through the air and held aloft by one of the many awakened quirks. Claudio's eyes flicked to its shot, ducking just beneath it and stumbling into and against the nearby table. His back shoved against the edge of it, with the cloud's upper body sprawling just short of the center. With a groan, the Brazilian tilted his chin up, looking across and around the table, only to find nothing of interest. Not even a single person sat here.

heheThere was, however, a plate of unattended sat there. Down a piece, it seemed, but otherwise free for the taking.

This was the weirdest day Emi had ever had. Somehow and someway, many people around Japan had ended up manifesting quirks that were completely out of this world. Emi was no exception to this but hers was...troublesome.

It all started when she woke up, and instead of her dorm she found herself on...the quad? Never having a history of sleepwalking this confused her but what was even more confusing was seeing all of the students running around flying and shooting lightning out of their fingertips. It was odd, and she wished more than anything that she could be back in her kitchen so she could tell the girls wha-

A ripple would form as the area around her bent, and suddenly she was flung forward landing in her dorm's kitchen, much to the shock of the roommates who hadn't left for the day. Once she was caught up to speed she began to mess with her new powers a bit just using her ability to "Fold Space" to blink around the room. Then she decided to head to the cafeteria which was the farthest point she had tried so far and when she did 'fling' herself through space she was off balance

And she ended up in the air not directly above the table of food but close enough that he plummeting to the ground ended in a resounding smack as she rubbed her head, trying to get her bearings. Still as durable as ever!

Elijah thought he would have a peaceful day. Well, peaceful in the sense of being far removed from the shenanigans that were ensuing today. Given the state he was in, he could easily be ignored, left to his devices as he saw fit. If anything he had to actually make an effort to draw attention to himself.

But as he calmly ate his lunch, one student decided to dive into his booth. And as luck would have it, it was someone familiar to him. And he was reaching for his food.

Elijah sighed. This was how his day was going to go, he supposed.

Claudio would feel a sharp pain on his hand, as if he'd been smacked by something. Because he was; by chopsticks. Then there was a voice that seemingly came from nowhere, though the other student would hear it from the empty seat across from him. It'd be recognizable even, Elijah's voice didn't change with his new power. "You would really take food from a lone plate you didn't get yourself." Another sushi disappeared. "Somehow, I'm not surprised."

Then there was a smack right next to them of someone falling to the floor. While Elijah's flinch was hidden under his Quirk, his sharp intake of breath wasn't. It took him a second to assess just who it was who suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Another sigh as he recognized the blonde. "Nice of you to drop in. New Quirk?"

He yelped as he squeezed his palm to his chest, sitting up on the ledge as he did. "I thought someone forgot thei' plate! It'd be such a washte to leave it!"

heheClaudio's legs dangled over the side as he sat at the table's end, with his back facing towards Elijah. Twisting his neck over his shoulder, he snaked his neck toward where he heard the voice come from. Not close enough to touch him, but certainly enough to stare him in the eye. Claudio couldn't quite tell where eye level was, though, but he assumed he was in the right ballpark.

hehe"C'mon Dreads, ya didn't have to thump me for it!" At the other end where Claudio's main body sat, he soothed his backhand, rubbing his thumb across the point he'd been smacked. "Coulda jusht said 'it'sh my plate,' or something like that, you jerk! If I didn't know any bette', I'd figure you heally wanted to—"

heheA loud thud fell beside their table. Claudio's body jolted up from its seat away from the sound, flailing and scrambling away from the source before Claudio twisted his neck to see what disturbed him so. He didn't see anyone, neither standing nor falling from above, before his body, still sat on the outside, pointed down to the floor. Flowing over to the rest of his body and resting again atop his shoulders, the cloud met Emilia's presence.

hehe"Oh, blondie!" He'd laugh, balancing himself forward with his arms. "You're not dead — good! Serioushly, I thought you were way too out to come back; good fo' you fo' still kicking!"

heheHe leaned away from the ledge, closer inwards towards the sushi. His back was still away from it. "Help me mess with Mishte' Invizible here, would ya? It'll be hilarioush, I promize."

Rubbing her head as she sat up she would get a good bearing of her surroundings, recognizing Claudio almost instantly. "Oh hey" she'd dust herself off and rise to her feet looking at the table very confused by the food. "Is this all for you? This has been such a crazy day, I don't know ho-" she'd freeze as she watched food float and disappear right in front of her.

"W-Whats that?" she said, pointing to the disappearing food, very concerned. That was until Claudio clarified that it was someone invisible and the voice that was very familiar. It had the same listlessness she had listened to for more than a few days. "Hawthorne...? Is this what your quirk can do?" she knew that he had a quirk from their talks but he had never disclosed what it was. All in all it was an odd situation she'd find herself in. Plus, she wasn't much for pranks and especially not on someone who really helped her out in a pinch...well Claudio did too but she figured the two cancelled each other out.

Claudio was sensible with the conclusion he reached when it came to the unattended sushi. Food that was just forgotten about for one reason or another. Elijah will however not acknowledge this to be a difficult person. "Well, now you know it belongs to someone." As if to highlight this fact, the plate slid toward the edge opposite Claudio, closer to the now-transparent freshman.

Elijah leaned back slightly as only Claudio's head moved closer to him. He's not used to the guy's stretchiness still; it reminded him of a horror game he couldn't name. He was however giving the stare down the other wanted, though he wouldn't know it. "Hawthorne." Dreads as a nickname was spreading. He's not sure how to feel about the casualness of it. "I didn't know how you would react to a disembodied voice coming out of nowhere." To distract himself from the camaraderie, he clicked his chopsticks together, loud enough for the other freshman to hear. "But also, slapping your hand with utensils was funny."

The plate slid even closer to his side after Claudio's lean as he addressed the girl. "Yeah, that's me." A sigh escaped him at her next question. He had a good run going for claiming to be Quirkless, but both of them are at least aware that he had one, having survived the golem attack with it. There was no point claiming his current state was what he always had. "No, it isn't. I can't turn it off for one thing." He'd show this by putting his chopsticks on the table, which would reveal themselves as soon as he let them go. "I then learned it spreads to anything I carry."

Elijah rested his chin in his hand. "Long story short: I think today's fucking with a lot of people-" A plastic spoon hit him on the head then, which would look as if it collided with nothing before it clattered on the floor.

Silence. Then, accompanying a long sigh- "Judging by all the demonstrations."

He couldn't quite tell, even with those bright eyes of his, but as the chopsticks were placed down for both he and Blondie to see, he turned his gaze where they should have come from.

hehe"See? Supe' powe'ful bully-machine hight there." He crossed his arms over his bared chest, concealing beneath it the scar he so readily wore. "D'eadsh-kun," he called him, "got one of thoze cool new quirksh; like you, Blondie! The heally weird onesh!"

heheOn that thought, Claudio's gaze shifted to the new entrant. His leer became a marveling wonder as he did, offering her that starry gaze and his all-too-familiar grin. "What wash that thing you did, by the way?" he asked, motioning an open hand in her direction, like a perpendicular wave. "There was no one there, the place was completely unoccupied, and then boom! You appeared hight out of nowhere! You got some kinda teleporting thing?"

heheAs Claudio spoke, his offhand — the one closest to Elijah — coiled through the air, spinning about lazily in loops and inching through as he, eventually, tried to poke Elijah with his stretched-out arm. He wasn't quite positive where, but he thought he'd aimed for the chest. "You and thish doofush got the cool stuff, but I'm still jusht you' local cloud — oh, Blondie! Can you telepo't people with you, you think? Oh, actually, same for you, D'eadsh! Can you make people invizible if you hold them? Er, I guess that dependsh on the definition of 'held?' Or... Hm..."

heheWith his still unaltered hand, Claudio rubbed his chin. "Hmmm, would you need to be small enough to be held...?" He twisted towards the man, still trying to poke him. Hawthorne's usual demeanor made Emi smile to herself. They hadn't shared a hospital room for too long, but Emi felt indebted to him in a way once she discovered how he had saved her. He may have come off as abrasive, but he was actually really kind just not the best at showing it. She watched his demonstration of his new quirk with awe as he had already mastered his new abilities "Wow! That's super impressive" she'd lean in to try and see if she could make out any of his features, but he really was invisible!

"Uh..." she was unsure how to answer Claudio's line of questioning "Truth be told I don't really know, when I think really hard about a place it jus-" with her mind drifting to the training grounds, the space around her would warp and she'd vanish without a trace "-t end up there..." her voice would trail off as she stood alone in the open field. With a heavy sigh, she would close her eyes and think really hard about where she just was and clasped her hands together. A second later and she was back now 20 feet in the other direction of the duo. "I don't even know what I'm doing!" she'd call out, walking back towards the duo "I just keep blinking all over the places. One of my roommates got something much more simple with telekinesis, I wish I ended up with something that simple." making sure she had enough room and wasn't going to bump into Elijah she would take a seat at the table, her forehead pressed against the surface. This was so exhausting.

Elijah sighed. The cloud was going to stick to the nickname. There wasn't much else he could do about it without repeating himself ad-infinitum, which he didn't care enough to continue. Dreads for himself it was. "Must be nice, keeping your Quirk." As Claudio weaved his arm towards the invisible student, he'd be able to poke him squarely on his chest as he wanted, feeling something solid there. It probably helped that they had the same height. He huffed in lieu of moving. "The targets are random then. Which doesn't bode well if we want to solve this problem."

And here came the questions about what his Quirk was capable of. Though he could see the silver lining in the fact that they could only talk about whatever was going on with him now instead of what he was born with. He shrugged even though no one could see him do so. "I haven't tried to hold a person. I can only imagine the reactions they'd have to be grabbed out of nowhere. Or hit from nowhere." He wished Claudio could see the way he was raising a brow at him. "But sure. I can make an attempt."

Without further warning he took hold of the cloud's hand that was poking him with his human one, making subtle imprints there as he pushed it back. The contact didn't last long; he only held it long enough to give himself space before he let go. "Did you feel anything just then?" Claudio himself didn't disappear, his Quirk didn't spread to him just then, but Elijah didn't truly know how his invisibility affected others. Would there even be more than a visual tell?

Done with that demonstration for now though, Elijah's attention shifted to Emilia, and his eyes grew wide as the girl blinked out of existence mid-sentence. As if her cut-off words weren't enough proof of her disappearance, he waved an arm in the space where Emilia had once been, but he wasn't hitting anything. She was indeed gone. Only to appear again in a completely different spot. "I wouldn't call telekinesis simple," was all he could say when she returned. "It's a miracle none of us are in the air right now with how many people have that here."

Elijah eyed her slumped form, thinking. "Your uncontrolled teleportation is however concerning." A pause. Then, reluctantly, the plate of sushi was pushed towards her. "Eat. I can get more for myself and I doubt the same can be said for you."

So quickly, in fact, that he didn't even have a chance to put his hand over his face before the sound escaped him, only placing it in the immediate aftermath of giggling. In the seconds following Emilia's disappearance, he began flicking his fingers up along with each little tick of the unheard clock, humming along to each of his little beats until Emilia eventually popped back into sight.

Elijah was just as analytical as ever. Even while remaining stoic, from what she could tell by his voice at least, he was thinking ten steps ahead! Once she was certain..ish that she wasn't going to teleport, she would accept his invitation and sit down. "Thank you so much! Always saving me wherever you go." They hadn't explained what happened during The Rumbling, but she at least knew that Elijah was a great help in taking down the titan. "It's odd, isn't it?" she scooted to make sure Claudio had room. "Like why would someone do this? What do they gain from it? I never thought i'd say I missed my quirk but..." she'd pinch her skin and wince as it hurts which is something she was not used to. "At least I knew how to use it."[break][break] Turning to face Claudio she'd do her best to reassure him "I think its fine to weigh in! I know a few people who didn't get affected and honestly, I think this whole experience is distressing to everyone." At least she knew from personal experience that not all of her roommates were affected by this. "All I know is that I can't let my mind wander otherwise I'll jump around." her eyes were fixated on the table now hoping she didn't jinx herself by saying that aloud.

A hum escaped the invisible student at the cloud's answer, and if the lack of reaction on Emilia's end meant anything, it's that he really didn't turn invisible with him. "My new Quirk requires more than touch then. Though it makes me wonder if its limit is dependent on size as you mentioned." Just because his chopsticks disappeared when he lifted them, it didn't necessarily meant anything he carried would turn invisible with him. That was his thought process at least.

Elijah made a face at Emilia's gratitude, confused by what he thought was an overreaction. "It's just sushi." Giving less than a meal's worth of food was hardly a cause to celebrate.

His brow was further furrowed at Claudio's words. "Temporary? Why would they think that?" As he watched more stars flare up indoors, he thought of how there were no signs of the new powers fading. Then a sigh escaped him as his thoughts were out loud. "But true. There really is no point in speculating." Except he was anyway. Possibly permanent invisibility for his power? It just made it even easier for him to run and hide from his problems.

One coward's Quirk for another. How truly unfortunate.

Shaken from his thoughts, he nodded in agreement with the blonde. "Lack of experience doesn't bar you from an opinion. People hate food they've never tasted all the time." Those may not be the most reassuring of words, but he was aiming for the truth as he always had.

Even with the coverage by the news and reports from those impacted by the simultaneous disasters, he found next to nothing of the masked explosives expert at his scene; for as far as he could find, he couldn't see any reference to them as a hero, and even if they were a hero — maybe he didn't know Japan's hero scene enough to truly say — he couldn't imagine one to be so flagrant, or even armed, with things like that, let alone to ally with the rest of the students opposing Miss Earth on that day.

In record time, really, all things considered. She had nearly passed out when she was first read a list of her injuries by Nurse Hebiru, and up until her full assessment on her condition Emi didn't even think of her ability to heal quicker than people as abnormal. Hebiru-san had theorized it was due to her mutation requiring her to stack calories that this left extra energy to be focused on healing injuries. Not really something she understood; all she knew was that she should have been hospitalized for a month and instead was out in two weeks. "Yeah me too! I'm supposed to sit out on any classes or training for the next week but I'm lucky that I healed pretty fast. I also never got a chance to thank you for all your help!
