[attr="class","header2"]OVERVIEW
» NAME: Hiro
» AGE: Unknown, looks mid 20s
» GENDER: Male (He/Him)
» AFFILIATION: Vigilante
» ALIAS: Light Step
» OCCUPATION: Do gooder
[attr="class","body"]
Seemingly always in a pleasant mood, Hiro is someone who doesn’t let negativity affect them too much. They tend to make jokes (sometime inappropriately) and generally seems to be living life with not a care in the world.
They make friends easily, they are dependable, and they will go to bat for anybody that needs their help, both as a vigilante and just as a general person, he seems to never avoid helping out wherever he can.
Much of his pre-amnesiac personality isn’t known to him or anybody else. Only when his quirk is active for longer times and pushed to greater limits does it seem that his original personality comes out, and whatever people see, it’s almost like a complete opposite of who he is normally. Intense, sometimes nearly deranged in their actions.

[attr="class","header2"]APPEARANCE
» HEIGHT: 6ft1
» WEIGHT: 185lbs
» EYE COLOR: Blue
» HAIR COLOR: Black
» SKIN COLOR: Pale
» FACE CLAIM NAME: Yato
» FACE CLAIM SERIES: Noragami
Hiro’s clothing style can only be described as ‘shabby’, simple tracksuits are his style and only when they seem to be completely in tatters does he tend to buy something new for himself. Outwardly he looks athletic and somewhat lanky, but also a bit of a slob who doesn’t put much or any care in how he looks on day to day basis.
His most notable piece of clothing is his ragged makeshift ascot, which is the only piece of clothing he owns from ‘before’, a time before his amnesia. He carries it on him, regardless of how ragged it is, and is fiercely protective of it.
Lastly, his blue eyes start positively glowing whenever his quirk is active.

[attr="class","header2"]HISTORY
Not much is known about who Hiro was before he washed up on a beach in Okinawa. A young amnesiac wearing nothing but an ascot around his neck and with a masterwork sword next to them. They had no recollection where they came from, who they were, or what they might’ve been in a different life.
The boy was nursed to health, and to repay the debt the locals gave him he provided ample help to everyone else in the region. Helping them for only a bowl of food a day, he become a beloved and cared for individual in the community who eventually adopted the name ‘Hiro’ given to him by locals.
Despite Hiro not having much ambition to figure out who he was, and was glad enough to be the person they are now. Dark, troubled, and clouded dreams would start to follow him the more he started getting comfortable in his new life.
Dreams of bloodshed, of pain, of suffering, a vague image of Hiro in the mirror covered in blood and a sick twisted smile as the sword dripped blood to the floor.
It was also then that his quirk ‘returned’, slowly, surely, shakily even. The more he tried to figure out what his quirk is or was, the more the dark dreams and the headaches returned, the worse they became.
Uncertain about what they all meant, Hiro felt troubled, but also felt that the quirk was a powerful one that had to be used for the good of mankind. If he could help people with the quirk, then it was his responsibility to help people.
Although, a man without an identity would be hard-pressed to license themselves as a hero… A man without memory wouldn’t even know about hero society, and simply chose to act instead, eventually leaving Okinawa and roaming towards the mainland of Japan.
He plies his trade as a problem solver, a kind and caring individual who is capable of protecting innocent lives for a bowl of rice a day, and the knowledge of people being able to live in a world where they don’t have to be afraid.

[attr="class","header2"]QUIRK
QUIRK NAME: Light Step – Sword Attunement
QUIRK RANK: B+
QUIRK TYPE: Emitter
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Hiro’s quirk is an odd one that in most ways is firmly connected with a piece of equipment that he always carries with him, his sword called Light Step and the quirk named Light Step.
Light step’s (the quirk) main feature is its ability for Hiro’s steps to be able to move on any surface with the same grace as flat ground, this means that he can move on any surface he wants to, whether that’s rough terrain or even air and water, but also run up walls and ceilings, as long as he keeps physical contact with said surface.
He has something of an empathic/emotional link with the sword, at least for a short while. Allowing him to find the sword even if it’s buried underneath rubble, or hidden somewhere, as long as he’s in the vicinity he can find his sword… Although, if the connection is severed long enough, his link also disappears.
OOC Note: In essence, his quirk is very much Hiro’s own latent abilities, but he seems to need the connection with the sword itself to become able to use his quirk, which is closer to a mental block or a co-dependency rather than an actual connection. He thinks the sword gives him the abilities, to the point where it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS:
Even though he can traverse any surface like it’s normal flat ground below him, this comes with limitations in terms of how much focus and effort it requires on a physical and mental level, as his quirk actively fights against gravity it means that moving against gravity takes more energy than normal.
It is most noticeable when he tries to move on water and air, as the non-solid nature of those surfaces requires him to exert more mental focus to keep a ‘grip’, lest he sink like a stone or fall like a brick. The same issue exists when he walks on walls or ceilings, keeping momentum is important and standing still will force him to fully fight against the gravity pulling him down.
Much in the way of parkour experts, using his own momentum and physics smartly will allow him to exert less energy, and the more he fights against it the more energy it costs. Running along a wall in a straight line takes less effort than having to make cuts and stops.
The biggest (mental) drawback to the quirk is that without his sword, he is effectively quirkless, he doesn’t have to constantly hold the sword itself to gain its powers, but he needs to stay in its vicinity not to lose (what he feels are) the powers inside of it.
In practice that means that he can move around even without the sword for short periods, but within minutes his quirk becomes weaker before fading completely.
Long periods without his sword will cause his attunement to falter, and require him to re-attune himself so he can harness its full potential once more.
Since the sword doesn’t actually give him quirk like powers, a quirk nullifier would also effectively make it impossible for him to use Light Step, whether or not he’s holding the blade itself. Although the sword naturally retains its own properties.

EQUIPMENT NAME: Light Step
EQUIPMENT RANK: B+
EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER: Unknown
EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION:
(In the context of the sword, the rank defines its maximum actual sharpness, at B+ it can cut through flesh, bone, and even wood and body armor with relative ease. Superpowered individuals can get cut, but not as easily, strong and hardy enough people or material can nullify its danger, or completely stop it outright)
From a glance, Light Step seems like a brittle piece of metal that will shatter at the lightest of breezes, with a dull edge that could probably not cut through paper even if it tried really hard.
But the closer one looks, the more obvious it becomes that this isn’t just a piece of wrought iron ready for recycling, with elaborate glyphs adorning the metal that seems to tell a story that no person can seem to decipher. Its history, its maker, and its use as much shrouded in mystery as its current owner.
Its most striking property is its ability to change its sharpness based on the user’s desire, becoming so dull that it can’t cut through paper even if it tried, to become sharp enough to be exceedingly deadly and dangerous to most who take an unprotected hit from it.
Right now the sharpness is connected to Hiro’s mental state, with the angrier and erratic he becomes the sharper it gets. But such a thing comes more from his lack of understanding of the blade’s properties, history, and purpose, rather than an actual design choice. With full understanding and discipline, he could change the sharpness at will.
Secondly the sword, whilst strong and hardy, can still be shattered by someone strong enough. Its mysterious designer had such contingencies in mind, and if reforged with new metal it can in time mend itself back to its full state, although such a process can be weeks if not months before it regains its full potential depending on the level of damage.

[attr="class","header2"]SKILLS
SKILL NAME: Swordsmanship
SKILL RANK: B
SKILL DESCRIPTION: Despite not knowing how he learned these abilities, Hiro seems to have an innate knowledge of how to expertly wield a sword and fight with it in close quarters. If he puts his efforts into it he’s not just effective, but genuinely dangerous with a blade in his hand and can seriously hurt or kill people who are on the receiving end of his strikes. Fortunately for most, he seems to lack a desire to actually hurt people.
SKILL NAME: Urban Traversal
SKILL RANK: C+
SKILL DESCRIPTION: Hiro knows how to move around somewhere without actually needing to keep her feet on the ground, using everything around her as a way to climb, jump, leap, and slide his way to different places, he is both slithery if he tries to run away, and hard to lose if someone tries to run from him.
