arrin hopped on one foot, then the other. It was his first extracurricular training session. Heroics department students were highly encouraged to sign up. Now, throughout the day, pairs of the next generations best and brightest heroes-apparent were being watched by their teachers, dissected for all they brought to he heroic table. The professors were in a nearby monitoring station. Today they were judging how effectively the student pairs could potentially save one hostage up in Ground Beta's larger buildings. That was all Farrin knew

He rolled each of his shoulders, then wound up his arms. Loosey-goosey, lad, loosey-goosey. His partner, one Shana Inoue, the tiger girl from orientation if he recalled correctly, hadn't yet arrived but that was nothing to worry about yet. Farrin had showed up early. He made an effort ever since leaving his younger life behind, did his best to live up to his mother's ideals now. 

He cast memories of ol' mum away. Distractions simply would not do. He had a mission and a few moments to himself still. So what did Farrin do? What he always does. Train. he started shadowboxing the air. Jab, jab, cross. Jab, jab, uppercut. He had limbered up, now it was time to get his head in the game. The hostage was a paid actor, of course, but he was to treat this little simulation like the real thing. Anything less was an insult to who he had to become, who he was obligated to be, and, most importantly, his mother's memory. 

There we go again with the distraction. 

The time-turning lad went back to his shadowboxing while waiting for his partner. She would make it on time, right?

[attr="class","Rajahright"]Although most of the student body didn't know Shana yet, Shana and timeliness were not exactly two phrases that were often spoken together highly. As the resident tiger was well known to partake in naps all over the place. If she wasn't doing something that interested her or something that she absolutely had to do, she could often be found lazing in the shade of a tree, or if the tree were big enough, perhaps even in it. And today was one of those days as Shana was napping peacefully below a tree as she'd stretch. First arching her back backward and finally arching it forwards as she fully stretched out her limbs before standing up. Looking up at the sky and examining how nice of a day it was before finally starting to realize something. That she actually had something she was supposed to be doing today... and she was most definitely going to be late for it. Crouching down onto all fours she'd break into a sprint. Luckily she had at least remembered earlier that she had to be there and that she had napped close by. But unfortunately, her nap hadn't actually brought her to the grounds themselves as she'd be walking out onto the grounds a few minutes late. Not late enough that they'd start without her, but certainly late enough that at least Shana had been docked a few points in the judge's eyes for timeliness. But hey, at least she was well-rested! As she'd walk up and see him boxing against nothing she'd smile at him and raise a big paw towards him saying out to him. "Are you sure that you should not be saving your strength for the actual fight?" She'd say with a smile down to the shorter boy. "That is a very tall tower and Shana would hate to have to carry you up it. Shana thinks that that would not be beneficial for your grades at the end." She would quickly add in to her own sentences before also saying "But I think they wish to start so we do not hold up too many of the other groups, so we should finish this quickly." he tigress had finally arrived. He recognized the giant from orientation. She had caused quite a bit of commotion, her demeanor was a mix of frightful and fierce then. Now? Not so much. Farrin cut his warmup to a halt, turning his attention upward to look Shana in the eyes. She was a head taller than him. Farrin was a tall guy, but Shana and Zenkai were truly giants. 

"Takes more than a lil' warmup ta' wear me out, lass," He replied, a cocky grin growing across his face, "N' I promise yuh' yu'll need no' carry me anywhere." 

There were certain aspects of heroism Farrin was not confident he would live up to, but drills and such measures of physical capability? He learned a lot these past four years. This stuff - he could do all day. He stretched his arms, cracked his knuckles, and rolled his head from side to side. Shana certainly had one thing right, though. The drill was about to begin. 

"Yuh' always speak in the third person?" He asked, but before the tigress could answer, an alarm rang, signaling the start of the simulation.  

"Well, let's get to it." 

With that, he hopped in place one last time, then sprung down the street towards the building their hostage was being held in. Pearlescent wisps burned alive around the time-turner swiftly joined by crackling emerald sparks. Farrin entered his temporal state, keeping pace with Shana as the two approached the building. 

Parked out front were two large machines. They weren't unlike those from the entrance exam. They were fairly large but surprisingly brittle. Attached to the top of each machine, though, was an automatic firearm. It didn't use live munitions, of course, but stun rounds that would numb any part of the body the projectiles made contact with. Each of the machines opened fire, and so Farrin leaped. He landed atop the robot to the left and planted his fist through the gun and into the top of the machine. He tugged out the wiring, putting the first threat down, and leaving the other robot to Shana.

[attr="class","Rajahright"]Shana was used to looking down at people. Though luckily, this boy was tall enough that she didn't have to look that much further down to meet his gaze. It was at least a slight welcome respite for the freshly awoken cub. Though she was at least glad to hear that he wasn't going to get all that tired as she would say "Alright though if Shana does have to carry you Shana will and do not feel bad about it." She would say back to him. Having grown accustomed to carrying her younger siblings around, it was a feeling she had gotten far more used to at home, and one that had never really needed to be transferred to her schooling life, but it could technically happen. Anyways he was asking a few different questions but she never had time to respond to those as she was quickly whisked off with the sound of the alarm going off. Meaning it was time for the simulation to start as the other boy would do a final hop before taking off. Activating some flashy lights that seemed to increase his speed as Shana would crouch down onto all fours and start running. While clearly not going at any inhuman speeds, she would have been faster than him if not for his quirk compensating for his speed. Though it did so much so that he would have had to slow down so that he didn't manage to beat Shana to the building so fast that both droids would be destroyed by the time she got there. Which speaking of robots, as he launched himself at the one on the left, it meant that Shana would have to deal with the one on the right. Which Shana had learned at one point what you were supposed to do to avoid gunfire. As she would zig zag her way right up to the robot, using her paw claw first to push through the brittle metal of the robot, before using her other set of claws to rip open the base of the robot. Oil splashing out and getting across her as she'd instinctively almost go to start licking it to try to get it off, before smelling it and realizing that probably wasn't a good idea. But it was enough that the robot was no longer working, as it would somewhat collapse to the side, causing her to turn around and see that he was already done with his robot as she would nod to him. "You have done a good job defeating your robot." She would say as she would look at the barricaded metal door, tapping against it with her claws as a dull thud could be heard, looking back to him and saying "Are we breaking through the door or does Farrin know the better way forward?" hana made short work of the light mech she had charged. It was to be expected. Anyone that made it through the entrance exam was familiar with the smaller bots like this. Though they were bigger than the two students, they were far from the larger and stronger machines that awaited he and his peers during the exam. No, if robots were being used here, it was to stoke the students' confidence. That was his bet. And it worked. 

"Straight through," he said. "They already know we're 'ere, no sense givin' them more time ta' entrench themselves." 

Stealth had vacated the premises long ago. Was it impatience, ego, or tactically sound thinking that won out? He wasn't sure, but there was no more time. A real hostage situation only became more and more dangerous as time went on, and the crooks' nerves drove them to action. 

Farrin darted for the door and kicked it once, twice, then with a third time and blew the thing off its hinges. No matter what it was that drove him down this most direct path, he would have to live with that decision now. A decision that saw a slew of stun rounds incoming on his position. 

With a wave of the hand, and slight translucent-emerald field flared alive before the time-turner. Each round that passed into it slowed to a crawl. He was fast. Incredibly fast. Though not fast enough to catch them all. 

A rogue round caught his left shoulder, knocking the boy back a step. The impact wasn't enough to put him on his ass, nor did it disable the arm entirely, but the numbing agent was working its way over his shoulder. Temporal acceleration would push him toward the worst of it all the sooner, but he would also recover faster. An opening had been made, though, and with a wall of temporal deceleration a few meters into the dark lobby, the enemies' focus locked on Farrin, Shana might have room to sprint inside and start causing some chaos. It was like a game, they would have to take turns occupying the enemy's attention. 

"How about yuh' show 'em those claws!" He offered Shana the idea. 

Once she got in and did some damage, he could hit the enemies, whoever they were, when their backs were turned.
