Few quirks could keep pace with chronokinesis. It wasn't the same brute force means of amplifying one's speed as the plentiful other speedster quirks out there. Chronokinesis made the world appear slow since the individual's passage through time was accelerated. The world outside his field simply reacted accordingly to the effect this greater movement speed over less time had on it.
Farrin tried not to get lost in the physics. That was a rabbit hole with depth beyond rival. Instead, he locked onto the moment. He mustered his will over the temporal powers and commanded its influence.
"It's a time manipulation quirk. I'll be acceleratin' yer passage through time, effectively makin' yuh' faster, though yuh'll be seein' the world as slower," he explained just before forming the field around them. "S'long as we're tired tagether n' I keep yuh' in my line o' sight, I can keep the field formed ta' yuh n' we'll blaze by the compet-"
The start bell rang through the air, cutting Farrin off and signaling the start of the race. The field was formed, and the two were ready to go. So, Farrin took off. The usual supersonic speeds were batted down and latched away, shut behind his mental hold. Chronokinesis could speed others up, but not to quite the speeds Farrin's personal field achieved. Even subdued, they still beamed out ahead of the competition.
That was until one team randomly appeared ahead of them. "Shite," he cursed, "A teleporter er' somethin." Yeah, that spelled trouble.

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin scurried up the rock wall in a frenzied haste. Well, at least that's what it looked like from the outside. While the other teams exchanged quirk fire and moved against one another, the time-turner meticulously felt over each handhold, probing the not-fully-visible ledges above, then pulled himself up. No compromise. He and Josie could play at speed and caution, as planned.
About halfway up the rock face, though, Josie called out to him over the ball's beeping, which grew louder each moment. "No worries, no worries," he called back, dropping one arm from the ledge he clung to to avoid an oncoming ring of smoke. The ring flew upward, then burst further up the rock wall.
No damage was done, but the descending smokescreen obscured the climb ahead. That went for everyone, though. So, rather than charge ahead, Farrin dropped below and clamped onto another ledge beside Josie.
"Alrighty, I'll take that," he offered. When Josie handed it over, Farrin looked below to the rest of the competition. "Eh, think yuh' might be able ta' make some o' the ledges sticky? Like yuh' did that guy we fought in the arena? Might slow our friends below down a bit."
Whether or not she could, Farrin would take off ascending through the smoky downdraft. The rock face shuddered, shaking loose stone from the cliffside. Some serious fighting was going on not too far away, and it wouldn't be easy to dodge with all the smoke. Caution was the casualty.
Farrin leaped up, smashing his fist into the cliffside, then lunging again. A few beats later, his hands landed atop the cliff. "I'm at the top," he shouted below for Josie to hear. Wasting no time, Farrin sped ahead to find himself at the foot of a small lake. He knew this was coming, but the platforms with which they were meant to cross were fewer than he was led to believe. "Well, this outta be fun," he said under his breath. Then, he jumped.

The days of the sports festival dwindled. Beneath mane and bone, deep within Farrin's mind, he could see the sands falling through the hourglass, heralding the end of the event's challenges and those self-imposed tests that laid before him. The situation had nearly grown dire, with precious hours slipping beyond his reach and stealing with them his last few chances to complete every "game" the festival presented relevant to the hero course students.
Fortunately, time was kind of his thing. It hadn't abandoned him yet. A last-minute signup for the three-legged race saw him paired with Khepri. Certainly a workable team. Khepri, while not Farrin's closest classmate, wasn't an entirely unknown quantity or an unpleasant one. A bit of an oddball, but in UAU, who wasn't? And asking for their insight was like bringing a full water gun to the desert. It wasn't the most conventional means of water transport, but water was water. That was, in Farrin's limited experience, Khepri didn't often see things the same as others, but they still achieved results.
Farrin eyed their competition as their legs were tied together. "Would yuh' be opposed ta me' usin' me' quirk on yuh'?" He asked, eyes still locked onto the team beside them. "I can speed yuh' up a fair bit, n' I'll moderate me' own speed ta' keep pace. I've been told it feels like a strong hit o' adrenaline, n' it will seem like the world is movin' slower 'round us. It'll undoubtedly work ta' our advantage."
Whenever possible, Farrin chose to give his allies a heads up on how it felt when chronokinesis flooded over them. Farrin had grown quite accustomed to the sensation. It felt as normal as breathing to him, but others might be taken aback if they weren't prepared. There were three other teams, though, and enhancing his team's collective speed seemed like a no-brainer. Competition lit a fire inside him with which few other sensations compared. No lives were on the line. No world-ending stakes. Just a friendly battle of wit and ability. They had wit, and they most certainly had ability.
"Dun' worry 'bout that. Fer one, I'll be speedin' yuh' up. Two, I'll make sure we keep pace. Jus' keep an eye out fer' the other teams," he assured her.
Not a moment later, the bell rang, and the race began. Farrin mustered a field around each of them. It looked like a thin white film with a slight emerald hue. The world would seem to slow around them, so while the other teams took off in a sprint, it would appear as little more than a brisk walk to Farrin and Josie.
Farrin started ahead. "Alright, 'ere we go. First is the rock climbin!" He shouted as he took off. Farrin's personal field offered a more potent boost to his speed than the fields he could summon around his allies, so, as promised, he withheld himself. They were outpacing the competition, but he was blazing full speed ahead.
"Let me know if the ball starts ta' flash er' beep er' somethin!" Farrin called as they reached the base of the rock wall.
He grabbed onto a small ledge protruding from the side of the wall and started up. Jagged edges and small spikes poked out from along the face of the wall. It was dangerous for anyone who sped up the side, but chronokinesis meant he and Josie could move fast without sacrificing their awareness. They could scan the wall for handholds or dangers and scale its side accordingly—while keeping at respectable speeds. So, Farrin grabbed onto another ledge and continued to climb.

Enemy reinforcements arrived, charging across the tile grounds like a medieval battlefield. They swung this way and that, leaving no room for counterattack, which was just fine by Farrin because he saw something else, too. Kei took advantage of their enemy's mistake, inching closer from behind the summoner's sight.
So, Farrin played his part. The dance continued as he dropped below one swing, rolled out from another, then kicked off the ground and backpedaled away from two more slashes. One blade caught him along his back—a flanker. Farrin bit back the pain and thrust his armor boot backward, driving it through the plate armor. The knight staggered but recouped swiftly, slashing again.
Farrin was already gone. He dove between two more knights as they swung their weapons. They were numerous but imprecise. Perhaps their focus was tied to their master? Farrin weaving between them, breaking line of sight, could help. Or it was sheer dumb luck. However, Kei was nearly in position, so it was time to lend a hand.
The winds whipped into a frenzy as Farrin spun into an uppercut. A resounding bang cracked as he lobbed one of the knights' helmet the summoner's way. One more distraction and one that wouldn't pull his attention to Kei. He wasn't finished, though. There was one final knight standing guard at the summoner's side. That wouldn't do.
One blade slashed into another tile on the ground, missing its mark. Farrin had sidestepped the blow, then tore into the knight's elbow. The student leaped, kicked off the blade embedded in the ground, and lunged in the one knight playing guard's direction. In a mid-air spin, he thrust his armored boot into the guard's torso and kicked off of it. Farrin flew back toward the rest of the knights, but the guard was kicked off the side of the arena. All four of Kei's geysers slammed into the summoner, undeterred as there was no other target beside him now.
"Gotcha," Farrin teased lowly.
His gaze was locked on the summoner, who flew off the arena's edge just as Farrin's back slammed into another knight. The rest of the troop surrounded him, bringing their weapons to bear, but an alarm rang out, and the crowds boomed. Victory.
The blades dropped but disappeared before ever making contact. "Damn it," the summoner could be heard cursing his ring out. "Yuh' did well, all things considered," Farrin shouted to their fallen opponent, picking himself up. "N' you!" He then turned in Kei's direction. "Deadly! Absolutely deadly!" he offered, clapping his battle bud on the back. "Yuh' know yuh' could really be a hero student if yuh' wanted," he said, smiling. Kei had a passion for his work; this was no attempt to turn him down the hero's path, but the lad was certainly capable of it. "C'mon, lunch is on me!" Another win in the books!

The Nomu tumbled forward, half lifeless, momentum dragging it right in Farrin’s direction. He was running out of the beast’s path. Then he was gone. From a distance behind it now, he watched the creature crash as its momentum died.
Instant disorientation. Somehow, Jack had teleported them with a touch. A sensation Farrin was quite accustomed to. He set his hand on the side of his head and stilled his mind. He latched onto the confusion and wrestled into mental submission. A dozen questions sprang from the mental hold, but time, as always, was of the essence.
In the distance, the Nomu recovered itself, bringing its twin’s corpse to bear. Danger. Farrin sensed it—felt it before he saw it. “It’s no’ done yet. Get down!” Sanguine eyes scanned over the field just as the scales burst. On the opposite side of the earthy hollow left in the Nomu’s wake, he saw Arc.
It all happened in a blink, but even outside of his temporal state, Farrin’s reactions were nothing short of supernatural. He leaped just ahead of Jack, using his larger physicality to occupy as much space as possible. With one hand, Farrin mustered a circular temporal deceleration field a few meters ahead of Arc. Jack would lose the acceleration field he had been gifted as Farrin also summoned his personal field.
The scales shattered against Farrin’s pesonal field, the boy unmoving, unflinching under the assault. Just as Stagnation’s gaze had made Progression invulnerable earlier, so too did it fortify Farrin’s field. Hopefully, the deceleration field, slowing the scales moving in Arc’s direction, would give the lad some defensive options as well.
When the assault ended, Farrin dropped his personal field and lifted his arms. He fired his linear cannons in the Nomu’s direction. Well… he tried to. One click. Then another. And then a third. Nothing. The Nomu’s effects were choosy.
“Well, no other option then,” Farrin murmured. “Right then, I’m bashin’ that things’ eyes out!” They didn’t have time to coordinate properly, but if the others knew of his intent, they could act accordingly.
He always preferred using his hands.
Farrin sprinted ahead. He wasn’t nearly as fast without his personal field. Hours under chronokinetic training had the same effect on his musculature as days. Factor that together with a lack of rest days, and his leg muscles were pretty much constantly torn. Still, he charged forward, then leaped onto the progression’s hovering corpse. He climbed the creature scale by scale until he was level with Stagnation, then leaped for the monster’s eyes. Farrin mustered his considerable strength together and thrust it behind the lightning bolt of his right hook. Whatever he hit was bound to break.
tldr: Farrin throws a deceleration field ahead of Arc to slow oncoming scales in his direction, then fires up his personal field in front of Jack—using the invulnerable properties of Stag's gaze to protect them both. He tries to return fire with his wrist cannons but finds they don't work, so he charges the Nomu. He climbs Progression's side until he's level with Stagnation, then leaps for the darker serpent's eyes, trying to gouge one out, or otherwise inflict big damage, with a punch. It was one of the few remaining that Farrin hadn't tried. Since Josie was up for tackling a few with him now, there was no reason not to try. They were in the bicycle race together, even if technically not on a team, then actually teamed up in a good ol' scrap and came out the winners. Now, it was time for another objective-based challenge.
Essentially, the duo had to carry a ball through an obstacle course while passing said ball between each other. They would have to pass it more often as they progressed, or the ball would explode. Similarly, if they dropped the ball or another team managed to touch it, it would explode. So, there were a whole bunch of ways to get blown up, and they needed to climb a rock wall, make it across a river via floating platforms, and navigate a minefield (though the mines were nonlethal), which meant a whole lot of work and coordination.
Fortunately, Farrin's quirk shined in such challenges. He could speed himself AND Josie up. And that was the plan exactly. Simple enough to survive the challenge, efficient enough to win it.
"Right, so soon as da' bell goes, I'm gonna use me' quirk on us so we both move fast. First objective is that there rock wall ahead," he pointed. "Yuh' want to carry the ball fer the first stretch er' would yuh' rather I do? I dun' mind either way. Jus' remember the closer we get ta' the end, the more often we need ta' pass it."
Josie's quirk, too, would likely come in handy. If anyone attacked them as they went along, the sticky property of her hair might latch the ball to her hand. A firm grip might save them later, but it all came down to the opposition. There were three other teams, so any combination of quirk variables was possible. But Farrin had faith in the duo. They would make it to the end, he knew it.

The crowds stood from their seats in an uproar as Freja's bat caught Terminus and rocketed him away. Speed Demon entangled with her ally's stony form after Farrin threw her, and together, they were lobbed over the edge of the arena. A double ring out!
Farrin exhaled, tenseness leaving his body. Adrenaline too. Pain pulsed in his arms and shoulders——everywhere Speed Demon had landed a blow. The body was a magical thing; it could mute pain so efficiently while taking a beating. But when it came back, it felt like a hammer had been taken to the bone.
"Yeah, I'll be okay," he said, leaning back and pushing his hands against his lower spine until his back cracked—instant relief. "N' yeah, yuh' knocked that one... outta the park. We won!" he said, delivering the corny baseball pun before declaring their victory.
He stepped into the arena looking for another challenge to overcome, but with the fight behind them, more than anything, he looked forward to catching up with Freja. As committed to training as he was, friendly faces were in short supply. It was pretty much Josie and Kenta, and now Freja again!
"I think we should get ourselves look over ta' heal up any injuries, then maybe grab somethin' eat after?"
Either way, the match was over. Another W pulled from the Sports Festival and one step closer to proving himself the hero he knew he could be!

Surely Khepri wasn't aware of this, but many practitioners of dornálaíocht used their palm heels for striking. The fact that they naturally fell into the habit, even if for protective adaptation, to avoid injuring their hands with their nails, was quite interesting to observe in real-time.
Farrin knocked the bulk of their blows away, allowed others to bypass his defense, and others were scored entirely on Khepri's merit. Inch by inch, second by second, he turned up the heat. He packed more power in his punches and threw more weight into it. The blows fell far short of his full strength, but measured against many of their classmates, he was hitting relatively hard. Take things too easy, and his "student" might learn and lean on bad habits that wouldn't work in a real fight. Go too hard, though, and he might break them, mentally if not physically. Discouragement was the enemy of progress.
So, eventually, Farrin would cap off the strength behind his blows, settling the spectrum's needle high enough to keep Khepri on their toes but low enough that they could drag the practice spar out for a time. "I think 'em palm strikes will work well fer' yuh," Farrin huffed a bit between dodging sways, then threw another jab in their direction. "Some Irish folk do that. If jabbin' isn't their strong suit, it's an easy way ta' assure some damage is done, n' in yer case, well, I think it leaves some other options open fer yuh."
There was little he could add that Khepri hadn't probably considered. Their focus was on not causing harm, though. Ideal for practice but a notion to be disregarded when fighting against a life-threatening foe. Another shot landed, and Khepri seemed to sway before recovering. It was quick, and they were diving back in. That's when Farrin chopped one shot, took one to the shoulder, then deflected a third. Then, he leaped back a few steps.
"No' bad. No' bad at all," he started. His arms dropped to his side, and his shoulders relaxed. "But maybe it's best we go grab somethin' ta eat? Dun' know 'bout you but I'm gettin' hungry n' yuv' picked up on some o' the basics pretty fast." The sands of the hourglass had hardly drained, and in truth, he could fight for quite a while longer, but a break would do everyone some good. Then they could tackle training together some more later.

Farrin swished, swayed, and then fired balled fists like cannons. Then there were the actual wrist cannons, too, which blew another construct apart. Farrin leaped over one blade, then brought the hammer of his right fist down on his closest pursuer. The shot thundered through the area forcefully enough that the knight's armor collapsed entirely. It rolled off in every direction, not out but down for the few moments it would take to reassemble. Another blade dropped only to become lodged in the ground; Farrin boomed across the arena, blasting into one knight, then another.
One knight leaped into a spin, then slashed downward. Farrin caught the blade by its faces. He brought his leg up, then launched his foot into the knight's core. Another piece temporarily removed from the board. "Not out yet!" He shouted in response to Kei's earlier concern. He couldn't speak much amid the melee, but things were far from over.
Kei's efforts were not without merit either. Just as one knight swung its mighty blade, Kei's twin geysers slammed into it and its closest ally. Both rocketed over the edge and collapsed into each of their components. Slowly, they reassembled themselves. It wasn't clear whether they were allowed to return, but that wouldn't matter for long.
Farrin dropped low, throwing his weight into his legs, then rocketed himself into the air. Five knights were in the middle of reassembly. The two Kei knocked over, and three Farrin had broken apart. He would deny them their complete forms. Farrin aimed, then fired a volley of adhesives. Suddenly, six knights were rendered useless: the three Farrin had broken apart in the melee, two Kei blasted over the edge, and the earlier knight he immobilized. So, that left only six more and their master.
"That's it. I've had enough!" Their opposition shouted.
Two of his remaining guards joined the others, still chasing Farrin, leaving only one at his side. His attention was locked on the Time-Turner, leaving Kei with an opening. The whole affair poked holes in the fabric of Farrin's training. Hours, days, weeks spent training, honing both his body, quirk included, and form, yet his commitment appeared to be his undoing. He only spent time with a small handful of his classmates, only on the rarest occasions, especially these days. Their singular battle at the end of the Beta simulation and a few other classes aside, Jack's tactics and abilities were lost on him. He knew the lad could hit hard, though, hard enough to keep up with SuperNova. That was something to work with.
"Gotta expect copycats in this line o' work," he replied, the slightest smirk crossing his visage. A little levity went a long way when facing the impossible. There was no time to answer Jack's next question as Farrin went to work with his prior strategy, blowing the scales out of the air and counterattacking with his incendiaries.
Time-dial eyes widened as Arc came into view, wormriding the fiery head of a draconic beast. Then came stillness. Absolute stillness. Unrelenting, unbending, immutable. An odd sensation, he felt the chaotic chain reaction below, but while locked in Stagnation's gaze, the cold flames of the void hadn't caused him any damage or redirected his fall. Neither could he turn to check on Jack. The creature was charging his way, and he couldn't feckin' move. What the hell was going on?
It clicked.
He was under the same effect as the pale dragon. The pale one forced his deceleration field into a superpowered accelerant earlier, and now the darker of the twin heads had him frozen like those blades of grass. The shimmering emerald and alabaster faded, and Farrin fell. One theory is confirmed. When the pale head locked its eyes on him earlier, it hadn't changed him—it changed his quirk. The way these beasts manipulated the world around them, different people included, varied.
Farrin landed a few meters ahead of where he stood a few moments prior. "How yuh' doin' over there?" He shouted back to Jack, eyes still locked onto the charging Nomu. "I've an idea, if yer good fer a big shot—like the one yuh' fired at SuperNova," he would continue IF Jack was still in fighting shape. "I'll try ta' slow it down if yer quirk is cooperatin', lob some o' those beams o' yers down that thing's throat!" Farrin hadn't witnessed the Nomu's effects on Jack's quirk, but their abilities became clearer.
"OI! GET OFF THAT THING!" Farrin shouted as loud as he could to Arc.
Then, Farrin charged. He popped the ammo feed around the wrist of his right gauntlet, pulled a handful of incendiaries from the device, and then shut it. With his free hand, he waved a temporal deceleration field into existence around the Nomu. If it worked as intended, the creature would glow with shimmering white and emerald and slow down. The field would only hold briefly, and the effect might remain for a second or so longer after it collapsed. In that time, Farrin lobbed the incendiaries into its open maw to add some extra kick to Jack's next shot. Arc would likely realize the opportune moment to attack after the field and its glow faded. Here's hoping the creature couldn't convert the field when it was summoned right on top of it. All he could do after that was get out of the way.
TLDR: Farrin responds to Jack. Is frozen in the air but feels the chain reaction / explosions below. He frees himself by shutting down his field and conveys his plan to slow the Nomu down to Jack. Farrin tries to shout / warn Arc off the Nomu, then tries to slow it down and chucks some incendiary rounds in its open maw, hoping to add some damage to any beam Jack fires. It was an evermore conflict between the need for stillness, comfort, and the safety of firm bedrock beneath one's feet and the pursuit of innovation, progress, and the exploration of the unknown. Two warring powers that seldom shared in peace. Yet, here and now, the two coexisted. They wove between one another in harmony—only in service to disorder. Farrin shared in measures of stasis and change, too. But that's where the similarities ended. Progress and Stagnation waged war with time. Now, it was time to fight.
A hundred blades blew in his direction. Razor-sharp scales with undulating distortions radiating around them. All too clear through a time-turned gaze. Farrin's right sleeve was worn, fibers broke, and his arm itched from the passing sphere earlier. It was just a heartbeat slower to rise and take aim, and that would cost him. He would repay the damage twofold.
The scale leading the charge in his direction after the explosive display slashed at his sleeve and cut into his arm, but Farrin kicked into the air. He would try to muster a temporal acceleration field of Jack, who seemed caught in the caustic serpent's gaze. If his temporal field won out, Jack might feel like an adrenaline shot before the world slowed around him. That was how Farrin's temporal accelerant was usually described. Then came the rain, the time-turner firing on as many scales as he could before pulling his aim upward toward the beasts.
"C'mon now, keep 'em eyes nice n' wide,!" Farrin murmured.
Blood trickled and seeped into the threads of Farrin's hero outfit, but his arm wasn't ruined yet. He lined up his shots, then fired. No holding back. He went with incendiary rounds, firing for each creature's face, hopefully hitting the eyes. The Pale one wasn't taking damage while under the caustic gaze—but that could be used against them. Either the green serpent had to continue protecting its ghostly brethren, exposing its eye, or it would pull back its impregnable barrier and leave its twin to take the heat. Hopefully, between this, and whatever Jack and the other fella mustered up, they could take the duo down a peg.
tldr: Farrin's right sleeve was eroded by the earlier sphere, then he took a hit from the flying scales along that arm. But, after jumping into the air, he tries to speed up Jack and starts firing on the launched scales, then switches to incendiary rounds and shoots at each Nomu's eyes.
