is fists flew faster and faster through the air. The hardest right cross the time-turner threw saw him ride his forward momentum into a spin and deliver a kick with the heel of his foot against his nonexistent enemy. He had to go faster, swing harder, be greater. He had seen something years ago, something that demanded he dedicate the entirety of his being to this goal. He wasn't gutter trash picking through the garbage for scraps. Not anymore. He was a student at the prestigious UAU - and he would one day be Oberon.

Grit teeth sat behind a focused visage. The distractions were long gone. There was only himself and the enemy. Then there was someone else.

Farrin drew his fists back as the line of focus was cut. Someone was speaking to him. Sore arms dropped to his side. Droplets of sweat raced down his brow. Shaking the moment away, he turned to the source of the question. A familiar face too.

"Good sight lines across the trainin' grounds, bit more o' a breeze, n' I'd rather do me' calisthenics on grass than gravel," he started, eyeing the quirkless girl from orientation. "Bit quieter too." He added, though it wasn't his intention to turn her away. "I know you. Leonid called yuh Helt, no? Nice ta' meet yuh."

How a quirkless girl might make it through the halls of UAU was lost on Farrin, but she passed the entrance exam, so she had to have something up her sleeve, right? Was it odd the young time-turner felt some form of obligation to someone he had only just formally met? Though he made no mention of it, anyone else, Farrin had laid a few of those obnoxious gobshites that had laughed at orientation out. People were packed full of potential, quirk or no. Who were they to laugh at this girl's ambitions?

"So what brings yuh up 'ere?" He'd ask after she offered her full name or greeting. He had a few minutes to talk, but not too long. His training regime demanded his attention.

ero work was endless work, right? Something like that. The world beyond these revered walls wouldn't give them a break once they moved on. Sure, Farrin had only just begun his UAU journey, but Hero Prep's three-year investment went by in a flash. There was no reason to believe the four years spent in university would feel all that different. Did he have what it took to really be a hero?

The thought was shoved into the black box behind his mental walls, then buried with a moat surrounding the castle. He did. He could. He must.

A mix of various jabs and cross-jabs was swung against an opponent of the time-turner's making. He was shadowboxing up atop a grassy hill that overlooked the gravelly grounds of the UAU's training fields. For now, this was kind of his spot. While his peers sectioned off into their own little groups and practiced amongst themselves, Farrin boxed the wind. Many freshmen seemed to be avoiding him since he had smacked a few loudmouths around in a perfectly sanctioned spar. Hardly a bother. He didn't need their help. As a matter of fact, all he really needed were some comfortable workout clothes and Sada. The latter more than the former, but he had to keep a level head on here. Not everyone made it into UAU. He was incredibly thankful that both he and his loligoth heart made it in.

He pushed the thoughts aside. There was no time for that now. He would spend the week learning the school, then find himself the biggest and baddest among the senior class and start collecting "senior spar cards." A little concept that randomly popped into his brain in his sleep a few days ago. Surely, the most tenured of his classmates would have much to teach. If it meant landing on his ass left and right, well, that was a price he was more than willing to pay.

Jab, jab, cross. Jab, jab, cross! Jab, cross, jab, uppercut! And so the cycle went on, a young Farrin honing in his most trusted heroic tools.

arrin hopped on one foot, then the other. It was his first extracurricular training session. Heroics department students were highly encouraged to sign up. Now, throughout the day, pairs of the next generations best and brightest heroes-apparent were being watched by their teachers, dissected for all they brought to he heroic table. The professors were in a nearby monitoring station. Today they were judging how effectively the student pairs could potentially save one hostage up in Ground Beta's larger buildings. That was all Farrin knew

He rolled each of his shoulders, then wound up his arms. Loosey-goosey, lad, loosey-goosey. His partner, one Shana Inoue, the tiger girl from orientation if he recalled correctly, hadn't yet arrived but that was nothing to worry about yet. Farrin had showed up early. He made an effort ever since leaving his younger life behind, did his best to live up to his mother's ideals now.

He cast memories of ol' mum away. Distractions simply would not do. He had a mission and a few moments to himself still. So what did Farrin do? What he always does. Train. he started shadowboxing the air. Jab, jab, cross. Jab, jab, uppercut. He had limbered up, now it was time to get his head in the game. The hostage was a paid actor, of course, but he was to treat this little simulation like the real thing. Anything less was an insult to who he had to become, who he was obligated to be, and, most importantly, his mother's memory.

There we go again with the distraction.

The time-turning lad went back to his shadowboxing while waiting for his partner. She would make it on time, right?

brief warm down was well in order. There was nothing worth doing in half measures. Not anymore. He worked himself ragged, that earned a few moments rest. He wiped his forehead of excess sweat, let his shoulders slump a tad, and released the tenseness in his neck. Though the sun wasn't doing him in any favors, the lad shut his eyes and allowed his mind to go blank - for the briefest moment.

Someone was speaking to him. Several someones. Well, two at least.

When Farrin's eyes opened and peered downhill, he had found two fresh, yet familiar, faces looking his way. A quick glance to his left and right confirmed. They couldn't be speaking to anyone else, because there wasn't a soul in sight behind him. It was upon his second take of the two that he felt it. An itch at the back of his head. Ceaselessly demanding his attention and yet no matter how much he scratched it would not relent. Oh that's where he knew them from! Orientation!

"On the contrary," he began, setting his arms to his sides, "once I sent ta' clown car packin, e'erybody else opted ta' steer clear."

That outta answer both questions.

"N' yep, I'm O'Rourke, alright. Farrin O'Rourke. Nice ta' meet the both o' yuh'," he started, now waiting for the winged girl's name. Once she provided it, assuming she did, he'd continue "How're the two o' yuh' takin' it all so far? Big name. Big place. E'erythin' ya were hopin for?"

ame grassy field overlooking the gravelly training ground behind UA, new Farrin. A young time-turner shadowboxed the air. Left, left, right. Left, left, right. Left, right, left, uppercut! It wasn't the clumsy boxing of those that most folks watch on television. Similar, but not the same. He practiced his mother's martial art. Good ol' Irish bare-knuckled boxing. Kept his right fist close and tight toward his chest. Held the balled-up left fist out and away, ready to intercept any attack from his make-believe opposition.

Sweat poured down the lion's mane, but he didn't stop. Couldn't stop. Wouldn't stop until he heard from Sada. He had arrived on campus a few days before her, courtesy of Barty - his ever-watching guardian, but she was due to arrive today. It had only been a short time since last they saw each other, but his heart ached for her presence.

He pushed the thoughts aside for now. She'd get here when she'd get here. Until then, he had training to do. The Semester hadn't officially begun, but there was no time to waste. Not here. Not when he stood shoulder to shoulder with the best the world had to offer hero-kind. Though his quirk and physical capabilities certainly measured up, the lad couldn't help but wonder if he was yet a hero in spirit.

Left, left, right. He was distracting himself still. Left, right, left, uppercut! Left, left, a sweep of the leg!

Five beads of sweat joined ten more. A passing gale did little to mend the building heat inside of him. Not quite as sweltering as a packed train running through downtown, but the boy was boiling. Better this than shoulder-to-shoulder with a thousand strangers, though. On that note, the young hero-student paused. The field was relatively devoid of others. A few runners out on track, two kids sparring on one of the makeshift arenas, and only about half dozen more dotting the field. At least it was quiet.

atience had been so thoroughly thrust upon the impatient. Farrin was slouched in his seat, his knee bobbing up and down in such a way that he might appear anxious to the onlookers. It was the stillness. Stasis. And it was killing him. He needed to move. Chronokinesis demanded movement. Yet, he didn't dare. Not in any meaningful way, at least. Confident as the young time-turner was, he didn't dare disrespect the hero-educator. He wasn't very familiar with Leonid's exploits but had been in Japan long enough now that he recognized the name. More than the name, however, was the man that had captivated him not with a roar but a few subtle words.

"to became something that you never thought it possible for you to be"

Impatient as Farrin was, those words locked his attention in place. Four years ago, if you had asked Farrin if he had what it took to be a hero, he'd have likely laughed in your face and snatched your wallet, possibly your lunch too, before beaming off to hide hideaway under the bridge. But then, he saw it. Like a window to a life not his own. A time and place where he had been something, someone that helped people. That would have happily bled to make the world a better place. Could he be that person? Could he ever possess such strength, not only of mind and body but of character? He spent the past three years in a hero prep school, honing his abilities, becoming far stronger than he believed possible, but he could ever be that good? When push came to shove, could he put his life on the line to save another's?

A question chirped up from a girl a few rows ahead of him. A ridiculous one, perhaps, but what courage was to be found in asking anything easy? It seemed preposterous, but who were any of them, Leonid included, to shut down the hopes of one who had entered these hallowed halls? Luckily, it appeared Leonid agreed. What sort of educator wouldn't have?

A few other students down the row from him didn't seem to agree, chuckling and passing a few mumbled remarks. Smug bastards. Farrin turned his attention to the hero upfront, but only for as long as it took to ask his question. His eyes would lock onto the pompous immediately after.

"Yes, Leonid - sir. I dun' mean ta' be a rush n' all, but where's the closest place ta' scrap around... I mean spar wit' our fellow students?"

Yeah, the time-turner didn't know if he could take a bullet for someone yet, but he could knock a jerk's teeth out. That he could certainly do. He'd wait, of course, until the tour was over. No promises after that.

Still, part of his former "street rat" mentality lingers. To Farrin, kindness and determination are synonymous with success.

Despite his ingrained survival instinct and generally distant mien, Farrin cares all too much. A painful childhood was as rainwater to his heroic roots. He won't admit it, but the time-turner sympathizes with people all too easily. He would claim it's his pride that fuels his need to be the best, and perhaps that is partly true, but his deepest convictions see him wishing to spare others of pain. His most core self prefers to build people up rather than tear them down.

All of that said, Farrin is extremely well-guarded. He shares only among an incredibly small circle. On the other hand, he's prepared to throw himself into the fire to do what's right, even for a stranger. After all, that's what it means to be a hero.

Farrin is a fighter of tall stature, emphasized by an athletic build. His face is framed with dark brown hair interwoven with a few white strands that have grown since his quirk awoke. He has deep red eyes, rumored to somehow have been inherited from a mentor during his hero prep days. Having put some meat on his bones after getting off the streets during his Hero Prep tenure has left Farrin in undeniably great shape. Typically, he can be found in some mix of sleeveless t-shirts and either joggers or shorts. He has slowly developed his own aesthetic since his time with Sada Tanaka, though. Finally, his hero outfit is similar to his workout attire in that, under the long sleeve jacket, he's wearing a black sleeveless, albeit the whole getup is covered in belts used like capture tape.
