arrin scowled in the face of utter chaos. He threw the driver over his shoulder, eyeing the scene unfolding before himself and his friend. While one hand latched the driver down, the other balled into a fist. The wailing of police sirens was all that staved Farrin's glare. He wanted to help, to fight these thugs who thought they could start tearing the place apart and do whatever they wanted, but students weren't supposed to take action without UA approval or supervision unless they were in the way of immediate harm. As of now, neither of them were targets. If only they were. Then, they could fight back.  

"I think there's a hospital jus' a few blocks over," Farrin called back behind him, recalling the time he had volunteered there to help Sada. 

With that, Farrin would turn away from the chaos and start in the opposite direction. A tear ran through his consciousness. Coward. Recreant. Weak. These words were whispered in his ear from one side. Adherent. Disciplined. Faithful. These rang out from the other. He wanted to fight back. To contain the threats, freeing the heroes and police to allocate their resources elsewhere. But he had opted into this system. That meant he needed faith in it, no matter how much it ate him up. For now, at least. 

Civilians ran from the fighting. Many screamed or took to safety within the many stores and buildings nearby. It was a mess. The students couldn't fight but could help those too injured or scared to help themselves. 

"C'mon, follow us, we'll get yuh ta' safety!" He shouted. There was no knowing what condition the hospital was in, but the odds were it would be of high priority to the police amidst the chaos. Schools, hospitals, government buildings. They would likely play center to the authority's defensive efforts.

"To the hospital then and away from this messy!" Zenkai was pretty happy that for once, they wasn't the one dealing with the villains. They were more than happy to let the actual heroes and police deal with the chaos and serve in a support role. It made for less work and the less work Zen had to do the better.

They knew that Farrin felt quite the opposite way. The two of them had been friends long enough for the monkey king to know that the Irishman was chomping at the bit to get to those foolish villains who dared to attack the city. Unfortunately for the time turner, they were both students and without explicit permission from the university the two of them wouldn't be able to go on the offensive. Now if the bad guys were dumb enough to attack the pair that was an entirely different story. Of course the two of them would be allowed to defend themselves and no doubt Farrin was hoping for that exact scenario.

"Thankfully the two of them don't look that bad so even if the hospital is packed they should be okay."

A

way from the mess? Away from carnage carving its way through the innocent. Farrin was raring for the fight; for that very moment they could claim self-defense and leap into action. As they turned the corner of the street and started down the next, it appeared such an occasion wasn't in the cards. Not yet. 

Their path was mostly clear. The tides of chaos hadn't yet touched these shores. Panic spread like wildfire, but for the next three or so blocks, that only amounted to a fleeing populace. Screams were exchanged, fright painted across the people's faces, but none were injured over the short distance. 

Farrin led on, towing his human cargo, eyeing the crowds and listening for the distant danger. A thunderous boom rocked the streets, fire licking the sky something like a mile out. It was a massive explosion, but it died down a moment later. Exploding gas station? Who knew, but Farrin should have been there. Not here, playing escort. 

"What the feckin' hell is goin' on?" He asked out loud.

There was no reason to believe Zen had the answer, but he had to put it out there. This was madness. Would hero society and the police even have the resources to contain so many threats? In a strategic engagement, he was sure they would, but this was utter madness - from which no discernible method could be gleaned. 

They were coming up on the hospital. A police cordon had already formed around the main entrances. Maybe they could find out what was happening. 

"Drop 'em off," he nodded to their charges, "then find out what's goin' on I'm thinkin'."

[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Zenkai jogged behind his compatriot at a steady pace as they made their down the concrete blocks and through the throngs of screaming pedestrians. The sounds of explosion and gunfire rangout through the steel corridors of the cities buildings, amplifying the noise and sending it even farther into the city. It definitely wasn't a fun day in Tokyo and if Farrin got what he wished for it wouldn't be a fun day for Zenkai either. They admired their Irish companion and the way they annoyingly but endearingly always offered to help. They just preferred Farrin do it when they weren't around to be dragged into it.

It didn't take very long for the pair to reach the hospital, thankfully the cops seemed to have already arrived and were in the process of setting up a cordon around the hospital. They'd be safe and sound within the hospital helping out where ever they could. Or at least that was his fantasy. In reality Zenkai knew his friend would try and find out as much as he could from the cops before going out to "Rescue" more civilians. If a few baddies got caught up in the rescue attempt then that was that. And of course, Zenkai being the person they were wasn't about to let one of their best buds go charging into danger alone and would inevitably be dragged into whatever shenanigans that was destined to lay ahead of them.

"Who knows, maybe some super duper secret organization decided to cause absolute chaos while they achieve a much more important mission in the shroud of all the chaos?" Honestly it sounded like a cliche Shonen manga plot which is funny because it one hundred percent was. "Anyway, what do you way to grabbing some juice boxes from the EMT lounge and protect this area? I guess we can find out what's going on first" Honestly, Zenkai already knew their attempts to get Farrin to stay in one place would be in vain but one never truly knew what kind of sway a juice box could have over someone.

I

t was funny just how probably Zenkai's extremely shonen plot was. An all-out attack on the city was, in fact, the perfect smokescreen within which villainy could freely pursue some greater goal. As students, they lacked the authority and resources to discern what that goal was, assuming Zenkai was correct. Farrin didn't doubt it. 

Farrin gave Zenkai a wayward glance. Was he afraid? Or aloof? Zenkai didn't put effort into much. It was a miracle he passed his classes, but there was a beast in there somewhere. He didn't accidentally stumble on his physical prowess. That level of strength and stature was forged in flames. On what time Zenkai honed his abilities, Farrin wasn't sure, but the lad would have to put it to use one day. How could it not be today? 

"After I talk ta' the police, I'm headin' back out there. Can't leave e'eryone ta' fend fer 'emselves. Yuh' can stay if yuh' want. Won't judge yuh'. The hospital could do wit' some protectin'. Most the pros out there are probably busy as is," he offered Zenkai an out, a way to stay put if that's what he wanted. 

When they reached the hospital's main entrance, there were already nurses and various other assistants pouring out to recover those too injured to stumble in on their own. Farrin passed his charge off, watching as the rest of the crowd that had accumulated behind the students and followed them to the hospital got inside. The moment they made it inside, Farrin darted to the closest police officer. 

"Officer, do yuh' know what's goin' on? Is the attack only runnin' through the ward? Or they hittin' e'erywhere? We've a particular villain orchestratin' all this?" 

"Get inside, kid! We have this under control," the officer's voice was unsure at best. 

"We're hero-students from UAU, we can help," Farrin tried. 

"I appreciate it, kid, but you're exactly that. Students. You want to help? Try keeping everyone inside calm." 

Farirn withheld the scowl threatening to return to his face. Kid? He had spent years training for exactly this. With a little information, he could make a difference. He could help countless people - and that's exactly what he would do, with or without the police assistance. 

The time-turner backed away and marched toward the entrance. More people were pouring in. Some were bloodied, others with limbs barely hanging from their bodies. A few were dragged in, the light long gone from their eyes. 

"I'm goin'. Like I said before, yuh' dun' need ta' follow. Can help out 'round 'ere if yuh'd prefer," he offered Zenkai once again.

[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]It didn't take long for the two of them to reach the hospital, with how fast the two of them were and how close they were to their destination. On the way, Farrin, being the gentleman that he was, offered for the Titan to stay behind and protect the hospital while he went back out to help. This offer was only met with a sideways glance and a look in response. Both of them knew that it wasn't really an option which was the exact reason they were going to complain about it. There was no question of staying behind. People needed help and he could help out, it was as simple as that.

Zenkai of course paid absolutely no mind to the police officers as they deposited their victim into the care of the hospital nurses. The cops were probably swamped as is and wouldn't really put the effort into stopping two would-be heroes from going back out and helping. Even if they did want to try and stop them there was little that most people at the hospital could do to keep either of them contained for very long. It would just be easier if they let them walk right out the door. And that's exactly what Zenkai did.

By the time Farrin had finished talking to the cop the sapphire-eyed titan was already at the entrance to the hospital, waiting for his partner. "You and I both know that ain't going to happen" Zenkai grumbled. They was ready to go out and save people but they were going to complain about it the entire time.

here was ever so slight a crook that grew across Farrin's face. A nearly imperceptible smile. Even given the perfect out of the situation, Zenkai knew it was time to step up. Even if he did so begrudgingly. Farrin nodded, then started back into the chaos. 

"Well, just remember I gave yuh' a chance ta' back out," he said, almost jokingly. There was a fair chance they would get in trouble if caught taking action in the field. Try as the two might to strictly play damage control, a nasty scrap was almost undeniably in their future. Didn't need chronokinesis to see that. 

"Let's head in the direction o' that explosion from before. More than a fair chance some people are hurtin' o'er that way." 

Farrin started back down the street they came from, but rather than fully retrace their steps, he cut into an alleyway on their right. Trash and debris, but no bodies. Good. But how long would it stay that way? Dark smoke continued to stab at the sky in the east, which was likely ground zero of the explosion. Haste and focus came in equal measure. Farrin was locked on target. The next few minutes passed in silence. The occasional pop and rattle of far-off firearms plagued the day, but Farrin continued to weave between buildings.

A few coughs. Even more screams. That's what the two would be met with as they exited the final alleyway. He was right. It was a gas station up in flames. A few charred bodies lay near the blown-open pumps. The coughs and groans stemmed from the duo's left. A few injured civilians lined the sidewalk across the street. Further down the block, a few goons fired their weapons into the sky. Temptation grew - swelled in Farrin's gut. It balled his fist and whispered in his ear. 

"Let's get these people outta 'ere. Keep an eye o' those feckers, though. We might need ta' defend ourselves." 

Again, he wished for it. But his words rang in his core. Heroism was about protecting people first and foremost. Start a fight with the crooks, and the people might get hurt. One thing at a time.
