he curtain of daylight was pulled away, giving a preview of the dark of night. The young hero-student’s practice patrol was supposed to wrap up soon, but there were technically no rules against his extending the patrol by choice. He had no night classes on schedule or any other obligations. It was only him and his need to grow and improve these days. Each day he built himself stronger, no matter how hollow it felt behind his walls at times. If personhood was a necessary sacrifice to become what he needed to be, then so be it.

So Farrin stood atop the building ledge. His waist cape flapped behind him as a howling wind blew. The skies were clear, but it was a nippy night with the winds blowing so fiercely. The weather did little to compromise his position. Downtown, you needed to be up high, with a sufficient line of sight over the long sweeping streets, if you wanted to be effective. He was armed with his preliminary license now. He didn’t need to worry quite as much about acting as a hero, so long as it was in the defense of himself and others. When wasn’t that the case?

Sirens blared. Two police vehicles swung around the corner and sped around the building traffic. Tokyo’s nightlife didn’t care to wait on the weekend. It was loud and proud each and every night. If the police were speeding like so, it was with reason. So, Farrin leaped from the roof he was perched on and trailed the vehicles from the rooftops. If there was trouble, he was ready to act.

What's this?

Police speeding and sounds of their vehicles heading down the lane? Why this was clearly a perfect job for none other than, Peacekeeper!

...Or at least it would be if Josephine wasn't stuck in her current situation.

Josie for the last hour had been stuck babysitting a fella who didn't understand personal space and also thought her saying that she didn't date men was a joke. As annoying as all that was they were also constantly on her tale and she couldn't shake him without revealing that Jo was a lot faster than what she let on at the university.

A heavy sigh left her body and she had no choice but to somehow lead this Gaston reject down the lane and towards where the police were moving. If she was lucky there were always crowds she could somehow lose the guy.

Maybe while he was in the middle of telling her another amazing story about how he was above and beyond all other students at the university...

God help the outcast.

e was a blur across the cityscape. Farrin's feet barely touched the edge of one building before bouncing off to the next. He had outclassed sports cars some time ago, so police vehicles were child's play to the time-turner. But the child's toys came to a sudden crash. Sirens screeched, and metal broke.

Farrin skidded across another roof and planted his boots onto the ledge. Below, the scene quickly became clear. Thunder boomed as chunks of stone and concrete crashed into one another, crushing the vehicles between them. Police fired their weapons at one mountain of a man, standing what must have been at least eight feet tall. His skin looked over jagged rocks, and death was in his eyes. Surrounding him were a slew of cronies. Some wielded firearms. Others, their quirks. Bubbles floated around one, then flew forward, ensnaring a police officer. The bubbles were stronger than they looked. Once caught, the policeman couldn't gun his way out. Another thug juggled knives, then threw three out at once. Each soared through the air, then curved into law enforcement hiding behind their vehicles. It was a mess. 

"Alright, no more o' that," Farrin mumbled, then jumped below.

Immediately, his boot crashed into one of the thugs holding a machine gun, sending the man into the side of a building. The time-turner then darted forward and leaped into a forward jab, which landed against Bubbles. The man wore some orthodox robes, which flapped as he joined the thug from before. Except, a bubble caught him before he crashed. 

"That's 'nuff that, fellas. Give it up now. I promise yuh' yuh won't like doin' this the hard way," he offered them their one chance. 

Smirks and sneers were shared. Some were confident, like the mountain man. Others were annoyed. All of them wanted Farrin dead. A sentiment made clear when they moved to attack.

Now they were almost to the problem area when of course her worst fear started to erupt. A whole bunch of people were running towards they had been coming and of course she immediately felt it. The hesitation, and soon this fella came to a complete halt. Looking ahead all his big talk was silenced and he didn't wanna take another step.

Now, Josey needed to get over there and this guy was now concrete on her so in other words, she needed to use some womanly charm.

God, she was gonna throw up.

"Ya know," Josey started while using her underneath her tank top to push the girls up a bit. Pressing onto him and looking into his eyes making them big and wide. "Your stories earlier were so cool, with all this stuff happening I was hoping you could be my hero and stop those baddies over there."

Soon he'd be hook, line, and sinker. They'd be on their way and who knows maybe he would really prove himself-

"NOPE!" That was the only word he spoke before he pushed her off and joined the crowd running away from the situation. All the while Josey simply stood there and blinked twice before feeling her pride stabbed in that moment.

Time to go help civilians blah blah blah.

unfire peppered the air only to be caught by a large, spherical temporal deceleration field. That would hold them for about a minute before it faded. A few seconds later, the bullets would be let loose. Hopefully, any innocent bystanders would have cleared the block by then. Guns were easy enough to deal with at this point for the time-turner. The quirked-up crooks, however, would take some work. Farrin could dodge for days, but the mountain of a man looked formidable. 

That's exactly where Farrin started. He beamed ahead and leaped over the temporal field, then again over the ranks of gunmen. Upon his descent, he threw a hard right jab for the walking mountain. Thunder cracked with the impact. A few breaks even split across the mountain's cheek, but he stood unfazed. A smile even crept across the giant's face. 

"Is that all you've got, runt?" He taunted, eyes narrowing on the time-turner. 

"Tch, no' at all, big fella," Farrin retorted, spinning into a kick. 

Another crack, and this time, the giant staggered. But, as he stepped back, he took a swing of his own. Farrin air stepped backward, but not without taking a shot to the leg. Farrin was sent spinning and smacked into the pavement. The mountain joined his fists and dropped them on the student. A blink and Farrin was back on his feet a few meters away, though he recoiled with a limp this time. 

"Shite, not at all the hit I wanted ta' take," he cursed under his breath, looking over his leg. It wasn't broken or busted up too bad, but it would slow him down, and the last thing he needed against such a massive opponent was to move at anything less than full speed.

Foul mood, not in a good mood, listening to her brother laugh at her only now it was aloud.

It only two five seconds to get into her uniform or rather her new vigilante uniform. Once that was taken care of, gone were the streets, and now she was above it all, jumping from building to building using her hair like a quick whip to launch herself forward.

It didn't take long to get where the action was, all she had to do was follow the screams. Lord and behold it led her right to where she needed to be and look there was windy.

Another man, a man who- nope Jo was NOT doing that anymore. The book club phase of her life was done and over with plus it wasn't like she was actually interested in that guy, but still it stung as a woman she had pride damn it!

The sound of her brother laughing echoed from the suit whilst she pointed from above down at the villains.

"Halt Villains, now you face Peace, agh forget it imma kick ya butts." The raspy voice came through, she barely remembered oh yea young kid when in costume. Still, it'd be better to focus, these fellas had guns and a big boi.

In other words, the Peacekeeper had to try harder and pull her punches a little more to make sure she didn't accidentally kill someone.

arrin's temporal gaze rose with the villains that surrounded him, all looking up to the voice that reached down from the sky above. Peacekeeper. Farrin might have knocked the entrance if he wasn't pretty terrible with hero entrance quotes himself. He pretty much came in giving the enemy a chance to surrender, then went to work. Not a lot of charisma there quite yet. 

The important takeaway was he had backup—some of the most reliable backup he had found since jumping into the field. Whoever Peacekeeper really was- she was fast. She always arrived on the scene just after himself. He wouldn't waste the opportunity or the distraction it provided. 

Farrin darted forward, burst right past Mountain Man, then thrust the heel of his armored boot into the back of the giant's knee. He collapsed onto a knee, giving Farrin another opening. He grabbed onto the Mountain's head and threw him into the ground. Debris spewed up into the air, stone, and dust raining down on the mob. 

Meanwhile, Bubbles took center stage again. He lifted his hands, and from them, dozens of bubbles spurt into the sky toward Peacekeeper. They looked harmless, but each could shatter a vehicle as it burst. Bubbles here possessed the stronger ranged quirk of the mob, so he had the best chance of swatting the vigilante out of the air. Those wielding firearms aimed as well then fired. This gave the remaining police officers an opening, though. One they would take, each firing on the smaller thugs. Chaos had taken the street in full.

Save the criticism for a time when Josey was happy right now she was beyond 'issed' from the event that had just happened. How many dudes have fallen for even less than that and now this fella comes along and just goes NOPE, who the hell did he think-

Her thoughts were brushed to the side when someone on the ground tried to shoot at her and she had half a mind to go off on them. Seriously shooting with a regular gun, it likely wouldn't even come close to penetrating the suit. I mean let's be real it still sucks to get shot, but hey it beats having lead in your stomach.

She took off down the side of the building while starting to think about the plan of attack. Jo wanted to rip them apart down there for shooting at her, but had to be careful with those thoughts, if they leaked out, Samson would smell the intent in the water and everyone else would be smelling and seeing the blood.

She had to be calm about this, and solve this situation calmly, and, what the hell?

'Was that bubbles?'

Josey unfortunately was very angry and while angry Peacekeeper didn't think the best so she sent a couple of hairballs (For the sake of that sounding disgusting going forward they'll be called ichor spheres). Sent them flying toward the bubbles and needless to say the immediate consequence was suffered, it was like she had been hit with a concussive blast and sent her flying above into the air, though who knows how those on the ground would end up considering she was on a one way trip up.

hile part of the gang was now focused on Peacekeeper, others continued to swarm Farrin. Machine guns opened fire. Leads streamed over the time turner from all directions. The hero-student ducked, three rings of emerald-white light forming and snatching up the bulk of the fire. 

Farrin leaped back onto a foot when the bullets slowed, then sprung up and over the rings. He landed with a kick to the closest gunner's face. The man was launched right into another crook to his side. Wind swept Farrin's hair, and bullets grazed his side, cutting the lion's mane. Moss and Earth. Flashes of time, memories, the taste of strawberries, and the touch of scales. No, now wasn't the time for that. Each flash that threatened to end him sparked those memories, memories that didn't do him any good now. He had to shed it all. He required machine-like focus.

And so, embrace the machine he did. Dust kicked up in his wake. His legs pulsed fire, sparked his nerves, but there was zero hesitation. Farrin kicked off one goon, then tackled into another. He was a tornado of fists, smacking the enemies away. 

The Mountain stood. "Not done yet, small fry," he taunted. 

Farrin eyed the giant. "Didn't think yuh'd go down that easy," the time-turner replied. He sped forward, the Mountain charging him in kind. Farrin leaped in the air and threw his fist forward. It collided with the giant's, a wave of concussive force sweeping out from the collision and knocking both combatants away.

So now, here she was above the buildings, and the wind now whipping this way and that. Surely, Peacekeeper was calming down her entire brain was filled with thoughts of rage, and how some jerk left her like that after he had the LITERAL PRIVILEGE of seeing her act like a lady.

You know how many people in that stupid university would've killed to see her up on them like that plenty, and that idiot couldn't even do something as simple as fight a couple of bubble blowers for her!?

That is it!

She cracked her neck midair and now instead of aiming for the bubbles. Jo knew who had guns down on the street and ooo were they going to get it!!

Shaking off the migraine and the feeling of wonky limbs the spheres started to grow in her hands and now she had new targets. Though before she was only throwing one at a time, now while falling she was falling with a style and unleashing them, sure they could keep shooting at her, but then they'd be risking BROKEN FRIGGIN ARMS! LETS SEE WHOSE THE 'NOPE' NOW!

arrin crashed through one of the nearby buildings. The living room he landed in was pregnant with shouts and bellowing. A family one room over, in the kitchen, looked in horror as the hero-student picked himself up off the floor and dusted himself off. In another time, Farrin would have rewound the damage done, but not in this timeline. He could speed things up or slow them down, not run time backward. So, it was someone else's problem now. 

"Sorry folks! Keep calm, but, eh, maybe keep yer' heads down!" He warned as he approached the crater left in his wake. 

The winds whipped at the boy's hair again as he jumped out and below. Thugs and gunmen lay strewn out across the street after the concussive blast. A few on the periphery of the battlefield, close to Bubbles, remained on their feet. The rest, however, were ground. Heads banged against the building sides were unconscious. Then there was the Mountain, who was already back on his feet. 

  Farrin hit the ground hobbling, then broke into a sprint. A rhythmic, pulsating heat flashed up Farrin's leg. A fun reminder that he had been injured earlier and that pressing full speed might not be the best move. He wasn't always the wisest of the bunch at university. 

The air cracked as he jetted across the street and swept a foot along one of the remaining gunman's weapons, shattering the barrel, then jabbed the man in the gut. He was a flurry of fists removing the remaining smaller threats until, around his immediate surroundings at least, the only threat that remained was the Mountain, who eyed the hero-student down. 

"Not bad," he started, his gaze shifting from side to side, "but a few helping hands are easily replaced. I'm still standing, and that's all that really matters in the end. Come on, let's finish this." 

Farrin smirked. "I dun' know what 800 number yuh' all call fer' the henchmen, but I can promise yuh' won't be dialin' it again anytime soon. Yer' goin' down - right now," he answered the challenge, ready to charge.

Trying to hold up the fake voice was difficult but she still proved to be able to hold it up. Though she sounded like a raspy wiener dog right now, fortunately, the bite of those attacks was anything, but that. The sound of Keeper's attack connecting was immediate, some slapped the concrete while others screamed and held limbs and ran about or hobbled about like a wind-up toy.

Landing on the ground was the sound of a boom, the suit being beyond helpful now for when she was in the air. Though she reached a problem, the goons had been taken out. Between Windy being a Windy fella and her being a little more assertive than usual Peacekeeper had run out of enemies.

All that was remaining was just the mountain fella which of course he was having a one-on-one. A man vs meat man duel which meant she'd be rude to interfere.

"You got forty-five seconds to wrap this up before I drop him myself!'

Now, did that make any sense what she just said? Should she be ordering him around? Could she even immediately drop the guy? Who knows! Who cares! Peacekeeper was gone and in their place was a bitter Josey angry about the events of tonight.

Everyone has moments, including her, hers just took a little longer.

orty-five seconds? Farrin's smirk grew. It might as well have been forty-five hours. Sand crawled down the hourglass in the time-turner's eyes. The clock hands set in his eyes spun faster and faster, the hero-student picking up speed as he charged the Mountain, who burst into a sprint. The many pulsating warnings in his leg went ignored. He could take it. For a few more seconds, he could definitely take it. 

The Mountain cocked his arm back and prepared to throw his fist. Farrin returned the favor. He then dropped into his slide on his good leg. The giant swung. His massive fist carried the wind as it flew over Farrin's head. But a narrow miss was still a miss. 

Farrin palmed the pavement and shot up into a stand. He leaped off his back foot. It was a trigger step pushing into a hard right, targeting the giant's back, center mass. The shot landed like a cannonball. This time, the Mountain shook, then crumbled, falling onto the ground. Stone cracked and shed until only a more typical-looking man remained. 

"Heh, lookit that. Thought yuh' were a mutation type, looks like yer' a transformin' sort," Farrin said, eyeing the downed criminal. 

With the former giant now laid out and seemingly unconscious, the rest appeared ready to surrender. Guns clattered against the ground, and hands rose into the air. Those who remained conscious were giving up, dropping onto their knees, ready for the cuffs to come. 

Farrin looked to Peacekeeper off to the side. "Fast 'nuff fer' yuh?" He asked, then dropped onto his leg. A show following the comment that might land him in some trouble for so openly befriending a vigilante. He wouldn't be expected to give Peacekeeper chase if his leg gave out, and she could make a clean getaway. The real bads were down and out. Job done as far as he was concerned.

Again, why'd she give um forty-five seconds? Who knows, sometimes when ya mad ya say reckless stupid stuff. End up, putting ya self on wrap-up duty, which she did instinctually while staring annoyed at the finale.

Now mind you, she was in a mood right now, her pride had been hit hard. So Peacekeeper wasn't thinking straight at the moment. With that said, a thought happened to go through her head.

He was trying awful hard to take um out in that timer he was given, she saw the smile sprout up on his face. Now Windy was a competitive lil dunny, however what if the real reason for his rush was because PEACEKEEPER SAID TO DO SO

What if, Windy respected Peacekeeper enough that it was like oh yes sir Mr. Keeper I'll get right on it. Nah that couldn't possibly be what were the chances of-

'Boom'

She was broken from her inner thoughts to see that far before the timer had reached its limit Farrin had toppled the mountain...

Ya know she'll take it, it was because Peacekeeper was there he tried so hard, there was no other reason to hell with that guy from before she still had Windy to follow orders and that was a hell of a lot better than a guy who hated everything except the reflection in the mirror.

"Not bad, Dunny boi, not bad." Those were the only words outta that raspy mouth when the sound of the cops started to approach which meant it was time for her to go.

"I wrapped up the ones over there, and yours I don't think want any broken clavicles to nurse so ya know what they say till next time!" With that she hopped into the air and slingshot herself into the night sky... her nose much bigger than earlier.
