econds ticked away into minutes, minutes into hours, and hours into an entire day spent training. Sada was studying for the first series of upcoming exams, and the rest of the usual suspects were either training themselves or otherwise also studying. Left to his own devices, Farrin continued to hone his martial prowess with the Emerald Fist atop his grassy hill at the back of UA’s training fields. But as the sun slowly journeyed across the sky, Farrin found himself back at the dorms.

Everything needed fuel to function, himself included. His hunger hadn’t tethered him to the full meals found in UA’s cafeteria, but something the snack on back in the dorms. There were a few cold cuts and some bread left in the communal fridge on the first floor, so that was his destination. A simple sandwich to fuel the tank before he got back out there to continue training.

The time-turner jetted across the grassy fields of the training areas, and into the dorms. It was there he cut off his quirk and slow-mo’d it over to the fridge. Popping the door open, he snatched up some ham and cheese and went to work constructing his small lunch.

The dorms were mostly quiet around these hours. Most were either in class or training. Granted, it was the weekend but that simply replaced classes with the aforementioned studying. It was also the perfect time to enjoy a meal in solitude, so Farrin threw his food together and sat at the table in the first-floor lounge with an open view of the front entrance and the rest of the lobby. Some food and solitude, what more could he ask for before venturing back out for more practice.

Okay, let's do this...

Actually no, we're not doing this. At least not now, we'll save this for when the first M.C.O.W. of the week shows up. I mean come on this is only moving into some place that is 'the premiere school'. Of course, when they say all that and other compliments they actually mean MILITARY- no no we're not doing that.

Like those pants that don't fit anymore, and then you go on that keto diet for five months we're giving this fit another chance. Besides this was Japan the land of... I'm sure it's a land of many things and one of those things is finding yourself. An excuse many people use to come to this side of the world so why can't she use it too?

Either way here she was, standing here she realized this was her life now. Trying to make history along with the rest of them, after they weren't here to judge only look at the right and wrong. Okay, enough stalling, but god... IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY, I mean come on talk about those halycon days.

She breathed in and out, her clothing wasn't the most modest, though she could care less. People who had a problem with clothes generally had some stuff they themselves needed to work out either physically or mentally. (Most of the time it was mental, I mean hell her mom had been gone since she was 10 and she got enough hugs what was their excuse?) Still, that wasn't the point, all of her stuff had been delivered earlier, hopefully, that's what she had paid for anyways now all she needed to do was take one step.

arrin scarfed his lunch down like a famished beast. Hero work, or technically student-hero work, was hungry work. Running a few hundred miles each day day probably didn't help his stomach stay full either. What sort of fuel when into keeping the Chronokinetic tank full? Well, all sorts, but it was more about the quantities. Farrin ate - a lot. Would burn it all off by tomorrow regardless. Time, as usual, was on his side... except he was always hungry so maybe not. 

With lunch felled, greasing the Chronokinetic gears, Farrin was ready for round two with the training field. In a blink he crossed back into the kitchen, discarded the bread crumbs and refuse into the trash, cleaned and returned his plate, then made for the front door. When the sun set, he would make his way back to Sada's room, but for now there was more training to be done. He still didn't have the whole 'air step' thing down. Far from it, so that would be his focus for the late afternoon hours. 

Stepping through the threshold that divided the cool and calm of the dorms and the hasty, erratic world that was the rest of the campus was night and day. One moment it's all quiet, then there's the boom of far off sparring matches and the quirks at play. Dashing out the doors, Farrin had to cut short and step aside as an unfamiliar face appeared to be waiting for something - to enter the dorms perhaps? 

"Sorry there, lass," he started, apologizing for nearly bumping into her, "eh, yuh alright? Know where yer' goin?" She looked bewildered? Confused? Something like that. Or was it awe? He didn't recognize the girl but the same could be said for most of his cohort. The truth only became apparent as he looked past her to the luggage being delivered. So that was it. She was new.  

"Need any help?"

Jo's thoughts had been cut short and danger vibrated through her body. Her head cracked to the side while the fellow ran up. For a moment she felt as though she was about to get bum-rushed only for him to stop right in the nick of time.

Before she could say one greeting wind had gushed from him stopping himself and it overcame her for a moment. Hell, if she ended up going on that diet like she kept telling herself to do back in New York she would've been blown away at that moment.

"Well, thank you for the sudden wind gust, the only thing this day was missing was a good breeze." She spoke while checking herself before readjusting her bra and fixing herself.

"So are you a student, teacher, teenager, or man whatcha go by stranger?"

arrin turned his head away, fixating on the unloaded luggage as the new girl fixed herself up. Yup, definitely a new student. She wasn't the first to arrive after the start of the semester. Even after the first few weeks of classes, new students continued to pour into UAU. That's what happened when youngins from around the globe fought their way, both physically through practical exams and academically through written testing, to make it here. 

"Glad ta' be o' service," he offered jokingly. "A few o' those categories dun' seem mutually exclusive. Teenager, though legally an adult, n' a student. Yup, that's me' answer." 

Eighteen was the age of adulthood in Japan so by that definition he was an adult man, though technically also still a teenager. And, well, he was definitely a student. By Freja's words, one of the best in their class. He would accept that title, graciously of course. 

"N' the names Farrin, Farrin O'Rourke. How 'bout yerself, lass?" 

Clearly, she was a student too. A teacher wouldn't be dropping their stuff off at the dorm. Most had their own homes in the city, and those that did live on campus had their housing on the opposite side of campus from Heights Alliance. Unless... the luggage being unloaded from the truck belonged to someone else entirely, but there wasn't a soul in sight.

Wow, she 'really' almost said that one fact out loud and completely blew everything he did to get her in here in the first place. Yea, that would've been a great first day, first mission, city escape. Run from the future and make it out of one of the biggest concrete jungles on the planet. Definitely would've put a damper on the week, but on the bright side, she remembered her adopted name so win-win.

"So you're the first student I'm meeting here, so aside from providing gust to the gustless O'Rourke what else do you do other things around here? Ya know, like knowing where things are? They forget to make a common sense man when creating these grounds honestly,"

Was that a lie? Yes, odds are she'd immediately be able to map this place out with two hours in her head. Did she also almost blow her cover and need something to change the subject far from that? Yes, yes she did.

arrin blinked a few times Josephine introduced herself. She certainly seemed to be an eccentric. Normally the sort Farrin steered clear of unless necessary but, despite her apparently being older than him, she was the new kid to UAU. If he was the first student she had bumped into, then he really should give her hand. 

"Nice ta' meet yuh, Joesphine," he offered, "n' yeah, I could give yuh the lay o' the land if yuh want. Fair warnin though, the campus is rather large."

Grounds Beta and Gamma were essentially their own small cities. While they weren't literally inside the campus walls, they weren't too far away. It was one of the reasons UAU had been built in Tokyo's outskirts, far from the hustle and bustle of the massive metropolis. There were even some woodlands divvying the university from the rest of the world, a line of demarcation to deter curious eyes and ears. It was something Farrin appreciated. 

"Well, clearly this is the dorm," he said, pointing behind him, "e'ery room comes packed wit' air conditioning, a personal bathroom, a bed, fridge, closet, n' a balcony. They're fairly large. Some students room together. Others no' so much. The first floor has a common area wit' a communal kitchen n dinin' area n' lounge. Then there's the main lecture hall, the big H lookin buildin yuh must've passed as yuh entered the front gates. That's where the bulk o' are classes are held," he continued, taking a few steps further from the dorm. "Yuh sure yuh wanna commit ta' th' full tour before settin yer stuff in yer room?"

"Well, that's good. I'll be real with ya I'd be a little disappointed if I traveled all the way from Idaho to find out this place was only about two sticks and a pebble. In any case, so far it's about four sticks and a couple of rocks. Thank you for the tour."

She smiled while in her head thanking that she remembered for once it was Idaho the papers said she was from and not Ohio. Lord knows on the connecting flights how many times she got held up. All because Idaho and Ohio are basically the same damn thing. Somewhere in the middle of the United States and no one cares to search more than that. Hell, she was boring her own thoughts thinking of the two places.

While he started listing everything she started to make note of the bigger vents on the building, if she could fit it'd at least be wise to find out later where they end up going.

When she noticed he stopped talking, she blinked once, and roll her head on her shoulders.

"Well, I'd rather have the tour, I have a fella from the moving company who's taking my stuff to my room, and it's not like it's going anywhere, ya know? So tell me rooms come with all that is it safe to assume they all have wifi as well? I mean it doesn't need to be super strong, just enough to see the news and all that stuff. Though I guess that is neither here nor there. Alright, lead the way O'Rourke lets see this school through the eyes of who ya supposed to see it through."

Giggling at her own joke she smiled awaiting the tour to commence. Truth be told he didn't need to know that she was one of the people rooming alone so she kept quiet on that nugget of information.

daho? So Josephine knew English then. Most in Japan knew a little bit of his home language, but not enough to really converse in. Idaho was basically across the country from New York, but they both could call the United States home... even if Farrin wasn't actually born there. 

<Oh, so yer from the States,> Farrin started in English, walking away from the dorm building and down the lane towards the training fields, then continued, <I'm from New York meself.>

Their fellow students would come into view as Farrin and JoJo approached the training grounds. Speedsters, who Farrin was faster than of course, ran circles around the track. One student with a fire-breathing quirk battled against another student with iron skin in one of the sparring circles. Further, in the distance, a few students made displays and taunted one another as they lifted absurdly sized weights. 

<So, the place is packed wit' high-quality equipment. E'erythin yuh' need ta' train up yer quirk, body, n' mind all packed in the several training facilities,> Farrin pointed to a few buildings that lined the edge of the open field, <they've programmable trainin' bots, yuh can request personal training sessions n' matches wit' the professors - most o' which are former or part-time pro-heroes.>  

Though Farrin had dusted most of his peers in a scrap, Leonid had nearly broken his arm - though Farrin had nearly toppled the professor so those were certainly some results. Dauntless was another of the pro-heroes Farrin faced down in a match. Another loss, but not bad considering both battles happened within the first few weeks of Farrin's arrival.

Pretty crazy stuff.> Though UAU was packed with people, too many for Farrin's liking, he couldn't deny the quality of equipment and sheer scale they went to create the perfect training grounds for aspiring heroes.

Thank GOD, New York City was a gigantic concrete jungle and she was able to live her entire life without ever running into this guy. Because she would be up a creek without a paddle right now and that was twice her entire past was almost given away in less than thirty seconds.

Personally speaking in English for a little while would be a welcome treat to the new student. Rolling her neck on her shoulders she smile and started to follow him folding her hand behind her head and enjoying the sudden tour.

<You know how high the weights go here? Cause those several back there look like there handling all the weight they can muster right now. Those speedsters need ta work on their form at least a bit, honestly, they look like ostriches. Those two seem more interested in showing off than winning in the center.>

She laughed a little at her own observations, it was always fun to watch people learn how to better. That was until a voice crept up in her head and spoke to her in the most eloquent way. 'Hey Stupid you're supposed to be a ditzy bimbo right now, lose the smart and make with the wow.'

A little blunt, but it was right. She needed to at least be the surprised short one right now, not an observant andy.

The switch was almost immediate she followed and gave a little wow at the possibility of fighting a part-time pro hero and gollied at the chance to go up against a professor.

onestly, he hadn't a clue how much UAU's heaviest weights weighed. As strong as he was, he was nowhere near the top in terms of raw strength. Leonid had made that quite clear. Though, Farrin suspected the professor's unique hero suit had something to do with that final, overwhelming strike that put the time-turner on his ass and nearly broke his arm. He was confident in his speed and sheer fighting prowess. There hadn't been an opponent yet, at least among the students, that had been able to outrun or outfight Farrin. Springs was the only perhaps on Farrin's level in those regards, at least that he knew of. But, in terms of strength, there were a few that outperformed him still. 

"Can't say how high the weights go. I dun' consider meself a noodle by any means, but I've no' come close ta' whatever the heaviest weights here are. I can definitely outrun those fellas," he nodded toward the same speedsters Josephine had commented on, "speed is kinda me' thing, but in terms o' raw strength, I'm definitely not among those that can handle the school's heaviest weights at the moment." 

Nothing wrong with a little honesty. 

"N' no' quite," he nearly chuckled, "no frats 'ere I'm aware of. Those are just the name o' the fake cities we use as 'em trainin' grounds, ta' simulate what it's like doin' hero work most often."

Farrin continued further down the path through the training fields. More and more students came into view. Everyone training their quirks and physical prowess. Farrin could see the grassy hill he typically trained atop on the farthest side of the field. It was an isolated spot he had come to make his own. Instead of heading that way though, he led them closer to the buildings between the main lecture hall and the other training facilities. 

"Over there," he pointed to a few isolated buildings, "is the library n' the support labs. The support department students there are nothin' short o' geniuses, n' cook up all sorts o' tools n' tech fer us ta' use."

Interesting, so he was one of their quickest but not one of their strongest. Definitely need to find out how high that went, but she could figure that out on her own time and schedule not like it was an absolute. As far as she was concerned and his reaction to the speedsters it would be safe to assume she was likely talking to the fastest in the academy. Now whether that was something to be proud of or not, who knows after all he made for one hell of an air conditioner but if ya gave um one good punch in the gut he might be out for the rest of the day.

Who knows, but moving on.

"So have you done hero work or are you still on the student calling card for now? I can't imagine being brought into those types of situations especially when it's one of ya first." She lied as naturally as she breathed responding to the first one.

Though maybe it would be a good idea to head to that simulation, of course, she needed to remember to figure out a different way to use her quirk than usual. Cant exactly come here and start using it bar for bar like before, classic way to get caught. Actually, she was thinking too much about this too last thing she needed was a mind reader to walk by and gasp.

"So if that's where all the geniuses are is that where your guy in the chair is? I assume at least every hero needs one of those at least once in their life."

arrin considered his words carefully. He was without a doubt a student and a student only. The Preliminary License Exams were still quite a ways off so, technically, he wasn't supposed to partake in any heroic actions outside of campus unless he was in danger. And, well, he had been in danger those times he chose to act. The problem was, he was in danger pretty often. Once with Zenkai, once with Freja, another time with Kei, and twice now with Thea he had been attacked. Not a full month in and he had found all sorts of criminal trouble. 

"Student. Preliminary exams haven't been held yet. I have patrolled a few times wit' a local agency that sort o' been watchin out fer me while I'm in Japan. Also ran inta' trouble a time or two while headin inta' the city. Shinjuku, in the heart o' the city, can be pretty dicey. It's where some o' the most people gather, but also has the highest criminal activity level in Tokyo." 

Turning back to the support labs, Farrin considered who his "guy in the chair' really was. The closest approximation would have to be Kei. He didn't really supply intel during the hero simulations... or when Farrin was actually out there dealing with criminals, but he was a good fella and created most of Farrin's gear. That was close enough to the "guy in the chair," right? 

"Well, there is one student that's been helpin me build some kit fer me hero outfit n' such. Originally, I wasn't thinkin' I'd use all that much gear, but me' time here quickly taught me that we need ta' have as many tools in the arsenal as possible. I do suggest yuh' stop on over there if yuh' need somethin' built."

She blinked once followed by a second quick blink when he bluntly said student. That was the word of someone who definitely had broken that no crime-fighting rule. She encour- he should be ashamed of going out and doing what's right without some license.

Though as he spoke, she made a mental note that Shinjuku was still the area that if she had a change of heart that would definitely be where she would start. Nothing like truly striking fear in places where they think they're the safest, then you rip um out and drag um kicking and screaming.

Jo blinked once more to clearly get across the airhead that this guy clearly believed he was talking to and smiled at the end of his words.

"Well that does sound like a good idea, maybe get a suit in black of course I feel like every student would want something black. There are more colors than just that, though I do feel like I would need to think about it first and get the right colors in my head. The real question lies in do you have a baggy outfit or a skin-tight one. That's where the real question lies in this case. Though too many tools in the case aren't the smartest idea either, they might be able to turn um against you on the field!"

arrin's outfit was in fact almost entirely black. The only exception was the dark violet bands of capture tape around his arms he could use in lieu of handcuffs to apprehend criminals - or student opposition during hero exercises as of current. There was little one could do to properly camouflage themselves during daylight hours, but a black outfit would certainly be of benefit while patrolling at night. The white wisps that accompanied the entrance of his temporal state would be problematic, but from far away nobody would notice. 

"Yeah, I try ta' keep it simple. The student I mentioned from support built me some ranged weaponry integrated inta' me' hero outfit, but they function like low-level air guns, wit' me usin' me' quirk ta' speed up the munitions. This way, they dun' require any advanced mechanisms, gunpowder, or anythin' else that might be turned against me so easily, n' I can modulate how fast the rounds fire so I can incapacitate pretty easily, rather than worry about killin." 

The sounds of sparring matches and other quirks in action grew as the duo crossed into the training field proper. They walked beside the bleachers that overlooked the tracks, and just past that were the sparring circles that other students trained in. "So, if yuh' no mind me askin, what's yer quirk?" Farrin would ask as they passed the track and started moving toward the indoor training facilities.
