[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin hopped on one foot, then the other. It was only his first month in UAU and he'd already lost count of how many extracurricular simulations he had partaken in. Heroics department students were highly encouraged to sign up, not that such encouragement was required in his case. Farrin genuinely wanted to put himself to the test as often as possible. This was just one more opportunity to do so.
Throughout the day, pairs of the next generations best and brightest hero-aspirants were being watched by their teachers, dissected for all they brought to the heroic table. The professors were in a nearby monitoring station. Today they were judging how effectively the student pairs could potentially save hostages up in Ground Beta's larger buildings. That was all Farrin knew.
He rolled each of his shoulders, then wound up his arms. Loosey-goosey, lad, loosey-goosey. His partner of the day was one Natsumi Taiyou, who he had the pleasure of meeting a week prior. At bare minimum, she was fairly good at dissecting a situation. It was time to see what the girl could so. She hadn't arrived yet though. Farrin had showed up early. He made an effort to do so ever since leaving his younger life behind. He did his best to live up to his mother's ideals now.
Memories of ol' mum were cast away. Distractions simply would not do. He had a mission and a few moments to himself still. So what did the lad do? What he always did. Train. He started shadowboxing the air. Jab, jab, cross. Jab, jab, uppercut. He had limbered up, now it was time to get his head in the game. The hostages were a paid actors, of course, but he was to treat this little simulation like the real thing. Anything less was an insult to who he had to become, who he was obligated to be, and, most importantly, his mother's memory.
There we go again with the distraction.
The time-turning lad went back to his shadowboxing while waiting for his teammate of the day. No doubt she would arrive soon.[attr="class","FarrinLeft"] [attr="class","fa fa-cog"] Symbol of Heroism [attr="class","fa fa-cog"][attr="class","FarrinQuote"]Even if it's already been decided. Natsumi was admittedly a bit nervous for her first hero simulation mission. But the butterflies in her stomach were a feeling she had grown accustomed to throughout her life. She would breathe in deeply, holding her breath at the top for a slow count of five before exhaling; she had this all under control. Closing the locker door to make sure her costume was fitted correctly, she would take time to inspect it. Her costume seemed childish, but it was of her own design, a design that she had tried to update as much as she could as her time to have a costume created drew near. It was only the first iteration, and she was sure there would be more to come, so for now she would have to deal with the slight embarrassment. The simulation for today takes place on the beta training grounds; the objective is hostage rescue. A forward-looking task. Her partner for the assignment would be none other than Farrin, better known as Oberon. The duo had met before, so there would be less formality they would have to exchange to get comfortable with one another, but there was one glaring issue: they hadn’t ever discussed their quirks, so this simulation would also display how they would work with unpredictable variables. Exiting the locker room and making her way to the ground floor, she would repeatedly natter to herself. "Perfection is perfect."A mantra she had picked up as a child to accompany her breathing as she would make her way onto the ground and towards Farrin. She would see Farrin, who was doing a bit of last-minute training himself, which would help get her out of her own head, if only for a moment, as she would smile warmly. "Hi, Oberon. Ready to start?"She would emphasize his hero's name as she said it, not only to show that she had remembered it but also as a professional courtesy. They weren’t viewing each other as fellow students, as they had before, but as fellow heroes. |

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin's fists were a blur. Even outside of Chronokinesis's "temporal state," and despite the sluggishness his quirk incurred on him when he didn't utilize its full strength, his fists flew like fighter jets. Each combination of jabs and crosses carried with them enough force to break bone. For his was the art of the scrap, and learned student he was.
He only slowed when Natsumi's voice reached his ear. His left fist flew, landed a hard jab against his imaginary enemy, and the bout was concluded. Cutting his combo there, he hopped back, then turned to face Natsumi in her very brightly colored hero outfit. There was a stark contrast between their apparel. His consisted of black overwear, including a waist cape, and trousers, colored only by a few dark violet wrappings overlapped with black belts as well. Still, a hero's choice of wear had little effect on their efficiency in combat. The only question worth asking was: could they get the job done? Farrin would say yes.
"Oi, hey there, Sprite." It took conscious effect to call her by her hero alias rather than her actual name, but it was an effort he would reciprocate. It was important they respect their hero identities. While even the most well-guarded names often got out to the public, they had to at least try to keep them secret - unless the hero wanted their real name out there.
"Yeah, I'm ready ta' go. Sure the startin' bell is gonna ring any moment. Do yuh' wanna go over quirks?" Now that was a secret that was about to get out one way or another. No sense hiding their abilities now. At least not the base functionalities. "I can speed things up n' slow em' down. People too if yuh' keep close enough."
The fact that he accomplished this via time wasn't all that important at the moment. As long as Natsumi understood the basics, they could strategize effectively. Hopefully, her quirk wouldn't require an hour's lecture to understand. He just needed to the 101 of her capabilities. Then they could form a strategy for approaching the spire the hostages were held in. As Natsumi approached, she had the chance to see a bit of his warmup for the mission ahead in action; his punches were fast, much faster than she would have initially thought they would be, but given his pedigree, his speed made sense. The strikes were fast enough to blur with each punch, leaving her to see the gap between them as even with her own slightly impressive speed she would struggle to defend herself again a direct onslaught; that thought brought her mind back to the students sparring they had watched when they first met.
She wasn’t the only one who had dawned their hero attire, as Farrin also wore his own hero costume, whose color scheme was a drastic difference from her own. Where hers was intended to be bright and colorful to draw attention, his was dark and much more tactical. An odd pair to say the least, but she would only hope that their teamwork would be much less at odds than their fashion statements.
Hearing Farrin call her by her hero's name would only warm her smile further, as she saw it more as a professional sign of respect than anything else. After a brief hello, he would jump into the next big question that was soon to factor into how they would work together: their quirks. He would go first, explaining his quirk quickly and to its full extent, something that would not go unnoticed by Natsumi. In return, she would do the same, which is something she rarely tends to do.
"Your quirk sounds amazing. Is that why you punched so fast? My quirk allows me to shrink and grow wings; the smaller I get, the faster and stronger I get too!"
Although the bell was going to ring soon, Natsumi couldn’t help but ask a small question, but her mind was much more focused on the possibilities his quirk could allow her to explore. Imagine how much faster she could move at her smallest with a boost from Farrin, but eventually the range of his quirk would come into question. Something that she wouldn’t quite be sure if she should ask or if he would even answer, so she would simply not ask.

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] A small smirk raced across Farrin's face. He hadn't even fired Chronokinesis up yet. The speed at which he swung thus far came courtesy of his personal training. When he did use his quirk, his fists moved as lightning.
"Actually, I've no' used me quirk yet. It's a flashy event when I do, no' by choice though." As she would see soon enough. "Yer' hero name is certainly fittin' given yer' abilities," he replied in kind. Then, it was back to business. They didn't have long before the exercise began. "Alright. If I recall correctly, all the hostages are supposed ta' be in that buildin'" he pointed to the largest spire at the center of the fake city. "but the enemy could be waitin' fer us outside as well. I think we should blitz our way ta' the front, I'll speed us up, then we spread out n' enter from two different angles. They'll know we're comin', but hopefully, we catch 'em off guard. Or, maybe, I'll hold their attention on the lower levels while yuh' sneak upstairs n' look fer the hostages while miniaturized?"
Blitzing the building saved them the most precious resource that was time. But, once they were inside, there was too much potential for chaos. It was nearly unavoidable. They could try to control the flavor of chaos though. Either double down on breaking through the bads level by level, together or let Farrin play bait, drawing the enemies down to the lower levels and easing up Natsumi's path to the top - or wherever the hostages were being held.
Either way, the bells would ring, and when they did Farrin would fire up his quirk. Entering his Temporal State was marked by fiery white wisps fluttering around the time-turner, joined by the crackle of emerald sparks. His ruby eyes warmed to a golden hue and even took on the appearance of clock dials. Without another word, he would wrap the two of them in slight translucent-emerald fields, and the world would appear to slow to a crawl. In truth, they were moving much faster, and so Farrin would blaze the way ahead, towards the spire.

The answer to her question would be something she wouldn’t have expected: his small display of speed that served as a warmup to start the mission had been done without the assistance of his quirk. With her thoughts prior being how much she would struggle to keep ahead of the tempo of his strikes, it would only be made worse by the use of his quirk. If his smirk was any indication of his use of it, he would be much faster. But she wouldn’t expect anything less of the man who wished to be the number one of not only Japan but of the world.
His comment on her quirk would warm her smile as she nodded lightly in agreement with it. After that, he would move on to formulating a plan of action. The hostages were held in a large building that would be easy to reach, but they wouldn’t be allowed to enter and search for them freely. Her first thought would be to simply fly to the top of the building and infiltrate it from there, using the element of surprise to work their way down and clear it floor by floor. But the small hitch in her plan would be Farrin. Even at her smallest and arguably strongest, Natsumi would struggle to carry him to the top of the building, and after such a hike, she would most likely need to take a breather. But if they took a split approach, a two-pronged attack, they would split the focus of the combatants inside.
"Divide and conquer. I start high, and you start low. We worked our way to the middle of the building. More people will focus on you easily, and I can take a few out if they try to make their way from the upper floors down to you."
An interesting plan in theory, but she has always been told during her brief training to leave a margin for error, as no plan is ever fully proofed. Her margin would be combatants not splitting evenly, leaving one side to deal with more than the other. But even then, she was still fairly confident in her abilities to either fight them off or do her best to regroup with Farrin. But the most important part was that their plans seemed to align rather well; she would nod her head in agreement to Farrin just as the bell would ring, signaling the duo to begin.
Natsumi would shrink herself down, bringing her height to four feet, before she would quickly begin to flap her wings to hover in place. Her attention pulled away as she first noticed the crackling emerald energy; it wasn’t her doing, so it was safe to assume it was Farrin’s. She looked over to see him readying himself, so she would prepare herself to do the same. The slowing of everything around them would start slowly but become more aggressive until Farrin would dart forwards, and Natsumi would follow his lead as she would quickly flap her wings, following closely behind, fully intending to change her direction upwards as soon as they reached the main doors of the building.

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Chronokinesis may have slowed Farrin down outside of his Temporal State, but when he did fire up the full strength of his quirk, he became speed incarnate. Each building bled into the periphery as he and Natsumi passed, beaming in on the spire. Once she ascended, after reaching a certain distance, it would become too difficult for him to focus on her and keep the acceleration field around her stable. It would dissipate and she would return to normal speeds when that happened. Still, he could get her close to the building, then she'd only have to handle the ascent.
And so that's exactly what he did. No enemies lied in wait outside of the spire, which made sense. Most hostage situations would see the offenders taking cover within the building. This worked in the students' favor. As they closed in on the front entrance, Farrin simply pointed up. It was time for Natsumi to fly. Meanwhile, he'd make a loud entrance. Loud enough to draw as much attention to the lower levels as possible.
Farrin zoomed right up to the door, leaned back, then thrust his foot forward. A boot-sized imprint kicked dented the door, then flung the metal entrance off its hinges. A mix of smaller villain bots and UAU staff playing low-level thugs immediately met the threat. Firearms packed with stun rounds and a few standouts bringing their quirks to bear opened fire on the student. The concrete flooring just outside the building was pocked full of holes and torn apart. Dust kicked into the air and wafted into the room, but when it finally settled, Farrin was already gone. The duo's pace was amplified by Farrin’s quirk; their speed would be uncanny. It would seem that almost in an instant, they would be at the doors of the building. The outer areas of the buildings were empty, which Natsumi would find to be nothing more than poor oversight, as she would have assumed to find at least two or three sentries outside in order to relay to others if someone was approaching, but this would greatly work in their favor. At the front gates, Farrin would simply point upward, a signal for her to begin her ascent to the top of the building. Which she would find east enough, using the speed she had built and in their moving towards the main door and changing direction. A small loop as she moved forward, accompanied by shrinking herself down to her smallest possible size—ten centimeters—to ensure she could continue with her momentum, would be harder to spot from inside the building if there was someone looking out.
Her speed at this size was much faster than before, but with the dissipation of Farrin’s quirk, she would eventually slow down to her more natural speed. Blowing past the windows quickly and to the upper floor, she would make her way in undetected and find a slightly opened window with just enough of an opening that she could slip through undetected before returning to the height of four feet. The room she had entered was empty, but the closed door led to what she assumed would be a hallway. Using her wings to hover close to the door, she would press her ear against it in an attempt to hear any source of movement.
It would be a few moments before she would hear the mad squeaking of shoes shuffling quickly, meaning they had all just decided to run or Farrin had begun his assault. She would wait until she heard the squeaks pass by the door before bursting out of the room and into the hall to see three combatants who were all headed for an elevator. Moving forward quickly, she would grab the legs of the one closest to her, as his shouts would make her move further away from her back. Moving forward to meet him and skipping over the combatant in the middle, she would punch the farthest in the solar plexus, a strong and sudden blow enough to knock him unconscious, before turning and doing the same to the one in the middle, then quickly landing on the first who she had tripped. She would shake a bit as she did it, repeating herself a few times as she began to search the floor for hostages.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry."

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin fell atop the closest of the villain bots. They were the size of small cars, but the building's lobby was rather large which meant quite a few of the machines could fit - which actually worked in Farrin's favor. While students were encouraged to treat hero simulations the same as the real thing, Farrin couldn't help but hold back on the actors playing the part of smaller henchmen. He knew they trained for this, and there were always medical teams on standby, but it just felt wrong not to hold back on them. Villain bots, however, he had no qualms with absolutely destroying.
Farrin dropped onto a knee, balled up his fist, and thrust it into the top of the villain bit. It was like a battering ram through a straw gate. No werewolf huffing and puffing required. He grabbed some of the wiring inside and tore the circuitry apart. The stun gun mounted on the machine's side fired wildly. Another tool to be turned against the enemy. The time-turner pried and jerked the weapon sideways, aiming it at another of the villain bots. Stun rounds peppered its metal exterior harmlessly. That was until it shattered the glass "eye" that served as the machine's primary form of vision.
Another punch delivered to the top of the first villain bot and it collapsed. Already Farrin leaped onto the second bot, repeating the process. Even slowed in his eyes, the henchmen on the second-floor railing, which overlooked the lobby, were almost in position to pose a threat. They brought their firearms to bear, then rained stun round hell on the hero. Except, once again, he was gone.
The second villain bot was riddled with holes, collapsing in place. Farrin, however, appeared just beside four of the goons. He threw a rather restrained uppercut into the first fella's jaw, then kicked the second goon into the third. In a burst of speed, he delivered a landed haymaker against the fourth, then spun and delivered a kick to goons two and three who were still falling. Four down. Only about another dozen to go.

As Farrin would continue to fight fiercely below, Natsumi would continue to scour through rooms on the upper floors in search of the hostages, but she was beginning to see a distinctively annoying pattern. Occasionally, when locked doors were opened, she would shrink and strike the doorknob, using her enhanced strength to break it free from the door, only to find an empty room. This would continue to happen even as she forced the elevator shaft open and would descend to floors below.
From the shaft, she could hear the feint sounds of a commotion, which would only hasten her speed. The first three floors cleared quickly; random rooms were filled with mock paper, filling filing cabinets to make it seem authentic. But since there were still no people, that would change once she reached the fourth floor. Prying the doors of the elevator open, she would be met with the sudden turning of a group of six people. And a much smaller bot that she hadn’t seen before.
The men were armed with what she would only assume to be stun rifles. There would be an awkward pause as they looked at one another, taking the time to register what was actually happening. Natsumi would force a smile in an attempt to lighten the mood in hopes it would buy a few extra seconds to plan her attack.
"Wrong floor?"
As she spoke, the men would take aim and begin to fire. Quickly darting in, she would quickly, but for some time, narrowly dodge the gunfire. Once close, she would kick and push the direction of their weapons at one another, breaking some of them but also forcing a few to fire at their stun position before she realized her position was becoming too much of a hazard with their near misses getting closer and closer to hitting their mark.
Shrinking her size, she would fly into the bot, using a small gap between its shoulders to take cover inside of it, the weapons first hitting off of the paneling and making a distinctive ringing sound. It wasn’t perfect, but it would work. Flying through the boat's body, she would tear a few wires leading to its head before forcing it off, flying up and throwing the helmet towards one of the men, taking the time of confusion to then quickly take her leave, dashing off down the hallways looking for any hostages on this floor, with one of two people chasing behind her. She was confident her speed could keep her at a safe distance.
While moving down the hallway, she would zip past a cubicle, grabbing a stapler to hurtle at one of the men behind her, who was struck in the helmet and knocked off his feet. This would give her just enough time to rush back and pull the legs out of the other, which seemed to have done the trick, as she would hover in the hallway for a moment before continuing her search.

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] The staccato bursts of gunfire - even if they were only stun weapons - rang up and out of the building. Farrin danced between the streams of stun rounds meant to remove him from play. A turn of his wrist and a lightly tinted field of emerald sprung to life before him. Dozens, maybe hundreds, of stun rounds entered the field, then slowed to a crawl. Chronokinesis didn't only speed him up, it let him slow other things down.
Farrin lunged over the railing and back down to the lobby's first floor. When the temporal deceleration field above faded, the rounds peppered the wall behind his last position, shattering window glass and marble walls. The spire looked like it was supposed to be a fancy office building. Just how much was it going to cost UA to repair the place?
Farrin discarded the thought, charging the last of the larger villain bots that populated the lobby. The other small fries above were slow to realign their weapons. Farrin had a few seconds still, which felt like minutes in his time-turned mind.
The hero-student slid under the bot this time, thrusting his hand up through the metal, and repeating his earlier maneuver. He grabbed at wiring and anything else that felt important, tearing it out of the machine's gut. Only, this time, the villain bot wouldn't be going down without a fight. Resigned to its fate, the machine purposefully collapse. Any other student might have been crushed. Farrin, however, scurried into a crawl that left only his leg pinned.
The rest of the thugs were taking aim though, nearly on target now. Farrin threw up another temporal deceleration field, this one wide and tall, which would remain anchored in place for a strong twenty or so seconds before disappearing. That would give him some protection. Still, his leg was stuck from the knee down, the weight of the machine crushing down on it. It didn't hurt so much as frustrate. Pain was not unfamiliar company, but this thing was cumbersome. He crossed his fingers, metaphorically, while latching onto the machine physically, and started pushing.

As she continued to make her way through the halls of the floor, she would quickly believe that she had discovered yet another empty floor, but she was wrong. As she pushed each door open and passed by, only to find an empty room, she would eventually come upon yet another locked door. This door was slightly different than the others, both in color and general design, enough so that it would cause Natsumi to pause before she struck the doorknob, breaking it and allowing it to freely swing open. She would be met with a slightly smaller room filled with a few discarded desks and chairs and, most importantly, a hostage whose hands and feet were bound, which she was sure was for dramatic effect.
"Don’t worry, I’m here to save you."
Natsumi would say that as she quickly rushed over, she would tear the binds, freeing the hostage. She would do her best to pretend that this actor was an actual hostage, examining them before offering her hand to help them up.
"Are you hurt? Can you stand?"
To answer important questions, she would generally assume that the hostages seemed to be in separate locations; they wouldn’t know where the others were, so there would be no point in asking. With a head nod, the hostage would take hold of Natsumi’s hand as she helped them up to their feet. On her face, Natsumi wore a smile, but in her mind, she was thinking of what would be the best way to evacuate the hostages once they were free. She wasn’t sure if their weight would be an issue, along with some people potentially being afraid of heights, leaving her with the option to clear her way down to the floors until she met up with Farrin.
"Follow me, alright?"
She would say this, holding onto the hostage's hand as she walked back towards the elevator. It wouldn’t take them too much time to reach it, with the hostages stepping over the unconscious combatants and broken villain bots. The look of wonder on their faces as they tried to figure out how someone so small had done all this Looking around herself, she would quickly see an issue with continuing to send the building with the hostage in tow: what would happen if another group of combatants fired into the elevator as it opened and hit the hostage? It would be safer for them to remain hidden.
Natsumi would press the button to call the elevator a few times before turning to the hostage with a smile. She had come up with a plan.
"I’m going to have to wait in the elevator, and I’ll take the stairs down and clear the floors below. I’ll call the elevator to each floor when I know it’s safe, alright?"
The hostage would nod, and as the elevator door opened, they would enter, the door closing as Natsumi headed to the stairs, going down the stairs to the next floor.

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin leaned back, then shoves his arms forward, mustering his might and throwing it into the villain bot's carcass. His arms were taut, tightened as much as his muscled allowed, but the machine offered resistance still. Failure took the shape of gunmen prepared to fire. They represented a burning fuse, and the metaphorical bomb was about to burst. Farrin would let it. Failure was a thought not entertained. So, he leaned back one final time, then pushed again.
The villain bot budged. Farrin rolled out from under the machine, suffering only a bite on the outside of his left bicep. He was clipped, his arm numb. One of the stun rounds caught him.
"Shite," he cursed under his breath, lunging up into movement.
He could work with one arm. He had to. So, he burst into a blur of movement again and took to the second floor. He leaped, grabbing onto the base of the railing that lined the second-floor overpass, then pulled himself up. His muscles cried in protest, feeling the effects of the stun round even in other parts of his body, but Farrin batted down those cries and sprang to life, pulling himself over the railing and tackling the row of gunmen.
A few flashes of firearms fire, and the thuds of traded blow, and the scrap was over. Farrin rose, victorious over the gathering of goons. The first and second floors, at least around the lobby area, were clear. The battle had not come without a cost, however.
His left arm was as lifeless as a phantom limb. Though its presence was an undeniable fact, he could not will the appendage to move. He sighed, trekking over to the stairwell. Whether his left arm recovered soon or not, he had a job to do. It was time to start moving up the building. Hopefully, Natsumi was having better luck.

With the hostages safely hidden in the elevator, Natsumi would continue her descent, clearing the floors below. Each floor was another battle, which quickly became a war of attrition. A floor filled with standard combatants with stun batons, followed by another floor filled with combatants armed with stun rifles, and a few that had both, with the occasional addition of the smaller humanoid villain bots; those were by far the worst. When fighting them, the issue became their ability to track her quick movements, and even as sporadic as she attempted to make her movements, they would somehow manage to find patterns in her randomness. Whereas before she had cleared the first few floors flawlessly, she was now lucky to get by without being struck or grazed once or twice.
It was becoming clear that even with their divide and conquer method, there would still be enough to become a nuisance. But with almost every other floor she cleared, she would find another hostage to rescue, and as she reached the halfway point, she would have a total of about six hidden in the elevator. After she cleared her current floor, she would take a moment to catch her breath, but she wouldn’t do this in front of the hostages. It was important for a hero to seem strong regardless of the odds, so when she stood with them, she wore a bright smile. Even with the scrapes and bits of dirt that would begin to build on her costume.
Although she was finding time to catch her breath, she was uncertain if Farrin would have such an opportunity. The rumbling on the floors below seemed to only echo up the empty staircase as she would utilize them to make her way down, and it seemed that every time she entered, the noise would continue. And so, knowing his battle was still dragging on, she would have to cut her already short break to gather herself even shorter. Taking a deep breath, she would head down the staircase again, finally making her way to the halfway point, only to find the floor completely empty. It would have appeared that their plan worked, with half of the buildings forced to be separated.
With this realization came a bit of terror; if they had all separated evenly, with some sitting on the upper floors and the others heading down to the lobby, that would mean that when she found her way down in waves with small breaks, he might have gotten the onslaught all at once. The feeling of dread set in as she would shrink herself down to her smallest size, speeding off along the floor, quickly striking each door as she moved, breaking each door open in a mad dash to clear it.

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] One by one, Farrin cleared each floor. The brunt of the enemy force had crashed against him in the lobby, but even in fewer numbers the villain bots and actors proved more difficult as he rose. A limp left arm wasn't making the situation any easier. He had taken a few blunt strikes from metal rods and stun batons on the way up, but the time-turner was in one piece.
Unlike Natsumi, however, Farrin had only found three hostages. He searched every corner, under every table and chair, and meticulously studied every floor. He wasn't missing any, but more were certainly stored up in the higher level closer to Natsumi. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too much weight, bogging her down. Farrin three followed the student through the stairwell, though they remained two levels below him at all times. With their back secured, he knew, with enough distance, they would remain safe.
When he made it up about halfway through the building, it was to a larger office, this one probably two stories in height, with more of the larger villain bots. "Ere' we go again," he sighed.
"Stay down!" He shouted for the hostages to hear.
They would remain two floors below, while Farrin ventured forward. He leaped, taking another stun round to his boot. The shock zapped at his leg, but the armored boot ate some of the damage, saving the limb. The time-turner crashed into the villain bot, then thrust his fist into its leg. Again and again, he pummeled on the metal appendage. And that's when Natusmi burst into the room as she ventured down the stairwell Farrin had risen from a moment prior.
