I

t was a simple exercise. Farrin stood at the ready, fists held high and ready to go at the heart of Grounds Beta. A little off-time he convinced his friend, Jo, to use in practice. Josephine was among his closest friends around campus at this point, but the lass hadn't been seeing her quirk improve quite as fast as their peers. Given that the time-turner remained unaware of her identity as the Peacekeeper, he offered (and pushed) and for her to let them train together, so here the duo were. Taking shots at battle bots. 

The machines weren't unlike those used for some of the students' entrance exams. A little tougher but otherwise nearly indistinct. He wasn't sure what sort of test Josephine had gone through, but it was likely she utilized stealth and acquired points through rescue tactics rather than battle, given the quirk display she gave him when she first arrived. So, where better to start this process than the basics? 

Farrin's fist tore through the "knee" joint of the closest scorpion-looking machine. He pulled, ripping through metal shards and wiring to dislodge his hand. With an odd pop, it came free. He brought the cannon back up, ready to fire and finish the bot off, but the bot's massive tail stabbed down at the time-turner, forcing him to hop back three steps. 

"Yuh' holdin up okay o'er there?" He shouted behind him.

He hadn't caught Josephine's exact circumstances so far, but he was keeping two bots distracted, leaving only one to her for now. A few more would arrive soon to reinforce the villain bots they first encountered, but it would be another minute at the least. If she needed help, he could kick up his chronokinesis a level and tear through the robotic trio, but hopefully, she handled things herself over there.

"I feel as though you enjoy this too much due to the robo-racism ya got going on over there,"

Jo spoke while sprinting towards the opposite side of the room breathing heavily though she had no reason to be breathing heavily, the idiot forgot she acted so tired during their hike. Couldn't all of a sudden jump up and be like surprise I actually have an incredible amount of stamina.

"Look Mr bot cant we talk this out!"

She yelled out while swerving another way and getting out of the way of another attack coming. Granted she couldn't dodge it completely and it scratched at the uniform she was wearing rather than wearing casual clothes for such an operation.

The sounds of her screaming along with her heavy footsteps slapping the ground this way and that, was all that resounded throughout this area while she moved.

Granted in her head she was still trying to figure out how to defeat it while making the procedure look like an accident.

A

 comical scowl, rooted in mock-rebuttal rather than anger, built across Farrin's face. "Fer one, yuh' can't be racist against robots. That's no' a race! Two, they're no' sentient!" Farrin bounced in place twice, then sprung forward toward the damaged scorpion-bot he was engaged with. With his newfound, time-turned strength, Farrin's fist was a high-pressure water jet tearing through... well almost anything. The reinforced steel used to build the bots offered resistance initially, but nothing that held up for long.

The tail retracted, folding in on itself after the last strike. A second tail whipped around, then stabbed down, crushing concrete and spewing debris. It all moved in slow motion to Farrin. He sidestepped the tail strike. The shrapnel, however, pelted his sides. Little flares of pain bubbled where each stone hit him, but he didn't slow. Farrin shot ahead and drove his fist into the machine's face like a spike. 

"Third, they're no' even alive! They're programmin' behind metal n' wires," Farrin said, yanking his fist back. 

The other scorpion-looking bot was already charging. But with seconds passing like minutes in his eyes, there was plenty of time still. Jo hadn't been able to bypass her own enemy's defenses yet. Maybe he could give her a hand without doing all the work? 

Farrin landed atop the ruined bot, latched onto the edge of its tail, and pulled. The tip of the tail tore free. With a spin, he threw the tail like a spear, its edge ripping through the leg of Josephine's opponent. That might give her an opening. At the worst, her enemy would be slowed. Now, back to his own target.

"That feels like alota excuses to tell ya self while performing ya casual murders!" Jo yelled back and saw out the corner of her eye the scorpion trying to come at her again. Mind you she could see this bumbling mechanical scrop coming from a mile away right now. However, she couldn't risk possibly doing anything that Windy would recognize from his adventures with Peacekeeper.

The real problem here was that Windy had seen a lot of moves from Peacekeeper so if anything she needed to do something that he hadn't seen before, or make sure that he saw nothing.

While in the middle of running the hair on the back of her neck stood up and she cracked her neck to the side, only to see Windy throwing a part of his conquest like a spear. Now at first she was about go full mask off catch the thing and throw it back.

However, he wasn't doing this to kill her having found out her secret. Instead, he gave her a chance to actually fight back and hopefully not see anything that would happen...

Thank god she was petite.

When the leg got taken, cleanly off, that's when Jo 'tripped' and the scorpion looked for a moment like it was gonna fall right on top of her. Instead, she waited until he was turned around again and the thing covered her enough to strike. Rolling over and making a fist she smashed her arm right into the center of the robo scorpion. Her force easily penetrated and went straight to the center of the bot crushing its operating center.

However, she allowed it to stay on top of her for a second and let more of her uniform get dirty. She could pass it off as her arm took the brunt of it all.

A

 thunderous crack roared as Farrin went high speed. He was a flesh and blood rail shot ripping through the battle bot. Emerald sparks crackled around Farrin, immediacy and impatience apparent. The sooner he wrapped up this fight, the sooner he could check on Josephine and either back her up or watch her maneuver around a now-weakened enemy. UAU had higher difficulty villain bots, made from tougher materials and possessing a stronger armament, but knowing only of the novice facade Jo wore, he opted for weaker machines, which did feel a little like bullying to him. 

"Oi, if they possessed some sort o' sentience, artificially developed or otherwise, yuh' might have a leg ta' stand on," he started, leaping out of the mess he made of the bot's leg and onto its back. "But," he grunted, driving his fist down into the robot's head in a similar fashion to the last bot he took out. "That's no' the case. So donja go makin' accusations that've no' basis 'ere." 

Farrin tore the bot's inner circuitry apart, then leaped off to the side as it collapsed. Simple enough. Dust plumed upward and outward, riding a wave of smoke and framed by sparks that shot out of the machine. The urban canvas lacked any stroke of danger for the moment, so Farrin allowed himself to look Josephine's way only to find... she did it. She had taken one of the bots out. 

"Ayyeee, deadly job there, Jo, yuh' doin' okay?" He shouted, only just catching a glimpse of her uniform below the bot. "Need help gettin' the t'ing off o' yuh?" 

Farrin crossed the distance, ready to pry the machine upward to give his friend some wiggle room. A resounding thud followed by a distinct crunch sounded from behind him. Farrin spun. Two more machines. They leaped from the building tops to the street below, then charged. Farrin grabbed the fallen bot, lifted it, and tossed it over, freeing Josephine from below. 

"C'mon then, we're no' done yet."

Josephine sat there with the robo-creature atop her and didn't move or wiggle, looking like a snail that had accepted its fate. Granted it was a fake accepting fate, but still accepting a fate was the accepting of fate regardless.

Well, one was taken care of, so now that left her some time to think about how to deal with the rest. She couldn't keep making these look like accidents, or could she? Hold on a second! Maybe she could!

That's what she could do for the rest of this! Bumble her way and return to that ditz that half the people at this university fell in lust with! (No seriously some of the looks she had gotten at classes have been just plain weird from the girls and boys and in-betweens.)

After he got the robot off her, she stood up and dusted off some of the metal particles. Jo couldn't go full force, but she was already used to being a ditz so she decided to take it up a notch a little here.

Jo didn't even acknowledge any of his words instead simply nodded and took off in another sprint, not looking back behind her and instead listening to the crunk of the robo behind him.

There had to be a way to ditz her way outta this. Others were always finding a way to ditz into people surely situations had to work too!

hese two accounted for the last of the machines' ranks. Given Josephine's budding combat experience, Farrin really had tailored the challenge so that he could rip through the bulk of the battle bots and then turn to analyze the way his friend held her own. Both ready to give pointers after the fight or come to help her if necessary. He hadn't had the opportunity with the first wave. Hopefully, things would be different this time. 

Space and time parted with the wind as Farrin slipped between the laws of physics and into a temporal field that was his own. He crossed more space in less time and slammed into the machine on the right. Force bundled up and blew ahead, knocking the bot backwards, off balance. Its twin tails swung wide, missing Farrin by miles. Even a machine mind required some fraction of a second to adjust to new parameters. These basic bots weren't acting on prior knowledge, so it couldn't have known Farrin would move that fast. 

With the machine reeling, Farrin leaped up and snatched both tails out of the air. His feet landed hard on the concrete, then he tugged, drawing the robot backward. The time-turner spun into a roundhouse kick that tore both machine's tails off. With its rear defenses in ruins, he sprinted into a slide and threw his fist up from below, piercing the belly of the mechanical beast. 

Immediately, the machine collapsed. This time, it was Farrin who was pinned. "Feckin hell, yuh' gota be kiddin' me," he swore, pushing it up and over. He could handle the weight, but his view of Josephine was blocked. How could he give her input if he didn't see anything? Even a few seconds of the fight could be critical. Still, a breath later, he shoved the bot fully to the side and picked himself up, rounding its remains to check on Jo.

Jo had to go about this the correct way, and once again start sprinting away from the situation. Lord and behold Jo had her opening to ditz her way through this mess. She could turn the corner and when one of the scorpions launched themselves at her politely help them be crushed into the wall.

So, in other words, it wouldn't be too hard, maybe after another five minutes the opportunity would present itself.

That was until god decided to smile at the woman. Almost out of earshot, Jo heard Windy shout out and it seemed he was now stuck in a situation similar to that of her own earlier on. So in other words, if there was ever a moment to turn this corner and mask off for a second it'd be now.

Turning that corner Jo saw both of the bots follow her and immediately two tendrils came out of her sides and penetrated dead through the center of the final two bots.

With a smile on her face, she brought both bots close to her and let out a horrid scream. Smashing the heads into one another, the hair that made up the tendrils fell to the ground in nothing but strands.

Laying on the floor covering her self up with both she breathed heavily making it look like they almost got to her and the most they got outta her was two huge holes in her uniform.

Ya know, perfect plan.

acant pavement and the wind greeted the time-turner. Farrin hadn't seen Josephine lure her pursuers around the corner, but the din of combat and a distinct scream were quick to draw his attention. He nudged his boot against the fallen bot at his side. It elicited no response. So, that was that. He could move on now. 

There was no time to waste. The air cracked as Farrin started down the street and around the corner. This time, he was met with the scene of sparks of heavy metal. Bulky machines collapsed, partially obscuring Josephine. She wasn't caught directly below as Farrin had been a moment ago or as she had been after the last battle, but it was clear the two villain machines nearly had her. She was tattered and down but breathing. 

"No' bad," he said a whistle, looking the bots over. 

Heads smashed together, and matching craters burrowed through their chests. How on earth had she mustered the strength? Everyone had a beast caged inside, but he had yet to see Josephine's unleashed. Well, as far as he knew. 

"Who's the one abusin' the bots now?" He asked, jokingly. 

Farrin knelt beside one of the bots, took hold of its underside, and lifted it, giving Jo some wiggle room to get out from underneath again. With that, the practice simulation was over. Farrin looked to his friend once she was on her feet. "Come on then, let's go grab somethin ta' eat. Yer gonna have ta' tell me how yuh' managed ta' take these two out.
