I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Right. Student orientation. That was certainly a duty that was expected of him, now that he was an educator. A small sigh escaped Leonid's muzzle as he shook his head, taking one last moment to prepare himself. He had been running a few seminars, some hero studies classes, since he had officially returned to the world of heroics, but he had never exactly been the first impression of the school and its facilities to the student body before. But, at the end of the day, who better than him? He was a name, once upon a time a case could have been made that he was the name in, if nowhere else, the local Tokyo area. Having an established hero giving the freshmen the introduction, well... He understood the logic, if nothing else.
Looking out towards the the stage ahead, he took note of the fact that a fair amount of students had already gathered by it. Not surprising, while the official call for orientation day had been for the freshmen, the old lion had gone out of his way to let the entire student body know that they were welcome, to introduce the school to the new students, to introduce themselves to the new students. It was only good form, after all, that the more experienced looked after those who had yet to learn. Gods, he could have done with that lesson far earlier in his life.
Well then, it was just about time. Enough dilly-dallying, as it were.
With slow, surprisingly silent steps considering his sizeable frame, the aging pro hero stepped forward, hands folded behind his back, as he emerged on the stage and took his place by the podium. One more glance around, scanning over the countless heroes-to-be before him, then a glance down at the microphone in front of him. A small flick of his finger turned that thing off, he was not going to need it.
"Welcome." He spoke, just a touch of the deep, powerful rumble of his mutation being seeped into the syllables, giving them enough strength to effortlessly cut through the chatter and idle noise of the gathered students, booming out without being deafening, and commanding silence. Had to be careful about how much of that he added now, did not need to shatter any eardrums today. "To U.A. University. Welcome, all of you."
"My name is Leonid." Though if you did not know that, that these days quieter but still very present prideful side of him quickly added, you really ought to not even be here. Learn the damned business before you enter it. Or, ask your parents. He was actually not sure how relevant he was, these days. "And I am one of the Hero Studies educators here on campus. It is my pleasure and privilege to introduce you, the very best that Japan has to offer for potential heroes, to these facilities."
"For that is what you are, and never forget that." He continued, the rumbling growl of the lion's voice continuing to effortlessly fill the room without any kind of speaker to assist him. "You, you are elite. This may be uncouth of me to say, perhaps some educators would advice against it, but I choose to speak the truth. You are the newest addition to an establishment that has been deemed the finest of its kind for the last fifteen years. That means that you belong to a select few, you belong to the hallowed group of the best in Japan. For the next four years, I will ask you to understand this. To understand your potential, and to nurture it. Take the talent, the gifts that you possess now, and develop them into something exceptional, for it is you that Japan will rely on when it is tested. It is that potential, honed and grown, that will become the sword and shield of the people who cannot defend themselves."
"'Plus Ultra' are the words U.A. and, I promise you," The lion took a moment to scoff, his muzzle curling upwards into something that could have been a smirk, had it been on a human face. "By the end of your tenure, you will have grown so sick of them that you will wish to scream whenever they are repeated. But, I believe that they have a very important meaning. It means to go beyond. Go beyond your potential, go beyond your talent, go beyond your gifts. I just described you as the finest that Japan has to offer, and that is true, but you must know this. If you believe yourself to be exceptional now, you are still the rawest form of yourself."
"They say that, in ancient times, this nation's smiths would take the limited steel that they had, and they would fold it upon itself several times. This was to purify it, to work out all imperfections and produce the finest blades that they could possibly make. And you? You may be the finest of all steels available, but you are yet to be folded. That is what Plus Ultra is, to refine what you have, to rise beyond it, and to became something that you never thought it possible for you to be. This philosophy is how U.A. University continues to create the greatest heroes of our country, year after year after year. If you can commit to that ideal, if you can take what is already so very promising and make it great, then there is no limit to how far you can go."
"But." He trailed off, taking a short pause before continuing his speech. "Before all that, you need to be familiarized with the school grounds proper, I'd reckon. I am here today to answer any questions that you may have. In addition to me, you will find that all students present here today are not first-year. Once we are wrapped up here, we will split up into groups, each group managed by one of your seniors, who will make sure to show you the school grounds and give you an introduction to where everything is, our expectations of our students and other prerequisite information."
"Well then." He finally rounded off, sharp, blue gaze scanning across the crowd. "Anyone feeling the impulse to ask our first question for today?"

Department of Heroes Freshman
The first word rumbled hard, and made Miroru sincerely consider reaching for her earbuds to help filter down the volume, but it was a one-time thing, apparently- there were no more eardrum-wobbling groars (was that a word? It felt like it should be a word) coming from Leonid. That, gratefully, made it much easier to follow the rest of what he had to say.
The redhead scrunched her lips up a little at the idea that they were the very best. It was optimistic- but factually unlikely. Her family just trained internally, blitzed the license exams, and went at it. It'd only be accurate to say this was the very best of those who sought out to develop their potential here.
But that didn't make for a very good speech.
The more Leonid talked up the student body, the more uncomfortable Miroru felt. It wasn't at all his fault. The speech was perfect for energizing a student body ready to be hyped up. Her quibbles were largely semantic in nature, and she recognized that.
It did raise an interesting question. What made for a better motivational speech? Did it go better when facts were molded to suit the content's intended effect? Clearly it wasn't foolproof, or she'd be on board too. But going the other route was sure to lose some people operating more on feel than fact, wouldn't it?
She took notes as he spoke- mostly on speechcraft theory and postulation- her silhouette dimming fractionally as she absorbed some of the light hitting her to repurpose as wireless keystroke signals to transcribe her thoughts without seeming pre-occupied while waiting to see what questions were going to crop up in such a setting.
That wasn't a guillotine she intended to stick HER neck into, at least!
I can pay no price too great for justice.

The very best Japan had to offer?
The loud powerful rumble in his voice had startled Freja and ever since he first started talking she had only managed to catch a few of the words he was saying. While she stood there shoulder to shoulder with other students, all she could think about was how the hell did she get here? How had someone like her managed to get through the entrance exam and ended up going to class with a bunch of monsters with powerful quirks? She knew she shouldn't be, she knew they were all technically on the same team, but she was scared of not only her teachers, but her peers as well.
More like the very best Japan had to offer and one imposter.
She got the feeling that his words were supposed to be inspiring somehow, but it only left Freja asking herself more questions. The talent and gift she possessed? She didn't even have the faintest idea what that was.. Maybe if things hadn't turned out the way they did, maybe if it was the real Freja at the helm she could have used her flame quirk to pull off something properly impressive. Instead, bad luck had dictated that Elias was the one who survived, bad luck had placed them here today. In a crowd of monsters getting an address from yet another monster.
When he asked for any questions Freja took a small step forward, fumbling slightly as she raised one hand. ''Excuse me, Mr. Leonid-sensei,'' her voice started loud enough to be heard, but grew more and more meek as she asked her question. Feeling less and less sure about whether she should even have asked anything at all. ''Do you think.. quirkless people can become heroes... too?'' She immediately lowered her head in shame, trying to hide her blush of embarrassment from anyone that might have looked in the direction of her voice.

for the first time in forever though, haru tachibana finally feels like her time has come. she's away from the prying eyes of people who feel like they have any stake in a life that is purely and wholly her own. she's under the undulating spotlight emanating from a lion-headed man at the mast of a ship of theseus heading into the great big unknown. she's only a freshman, but she feels her heart swell under the postulating brightness that falls like droplets of sun from leonid's words. it's certainly a very inspiring speech, if a bit loud, and it does it's job of making haru feel as if she belongs here, somehow. there's still some anxiety, of course. maybe, deep down, she does realize that her place is not here, among the greats, amongst students far more dedicated to their craft than she is, amongst students who had more opportunities than she had, amongst students that had more things to overcome than she has, but haru still feels as if the chance to truly belong is finally within the grasp of her faltering fingertips. she hopes so, at least. staring from cokebottle glasses and between bright orange bangs at the rest of the students gathered in the auditorium, she can't help but feel that maybe she's an outlier here.[break][break]
and then she goes back to looking at leonid, and she feels all better again. he has to be right. he has to. she'll go plus ultra, no matter what it takes!

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
The silence hung in the air, as Leonid watched the students before him shift and glance at one another, as they all waited for another to pose the first question. It hardly bothered him, he had hosted enough Q&As throughout his career to recognize this phenomenon, it was only really going to last for a few more minutes at most before someone broke the silence, and once that first step had been taken, things were going to pick up...
Aaand right on cue. A hand shot up, a student stepped forward and the old lion turned towards her, pointing in her direction to indicate his acknowledgement. "You there, Miss... Helt, right?" He had taken some preparatory measures for the day, looked up all of the new freshmen, taken a few hours to memorize names and photos. Doing his due diligence to at the very least look aware and prepared ahead of public appearances was something that the veteran hero was well-versed with. As he had long since found out, it wasn't really about how much you did or knew, but how much you could make people think you did or knew. Being able to name each freshman at a glance? Well, that'd hopefully leave a positive impression.
Now as for her question... Again, the animalistic nature of his face might make facial expressions a bit harder to read than they would be on a more human figure, but Leonid could just feel a frown mounting for a moment. Quirkless? He wasn't even sure how a quirkless student would pass the practical exams for most hero schools, let alone the U.A. Yeah, sure kid. The voice of a much younger, very different Leonid echoed in the back of his head, smirking laughter in that derisive voice. Sure quirkless folks can be heroes, if you're hoping to be a C- or D-lister or something. Hey don't sweat it, parking lots need patrolling too, meanwhile the rest of us with actual talent will handle the real work-
"I don't see why not." He interrupted his own train of thought, stifling that older impulse of his, pushing it away. No, he had to lift up these people, that is why he was here. "If you passed the exams and is here right now, the U.A. facilities have clearly deemed you fit for our heroics program, which means that you not only showed promise, you showed more promise than all of the quirk-abled applicants that did not make it in. And if that is the case..." He waved his hand slightly. "You clearly possess all of the necessary skills to make it here. As I said, going beyond limitations is what this program is all about."
Grateful to move on from that particular loated question, he turned around, gaze returning to the crowd at large. "Anyone else?"

Ever since she had bared her fangs at him. A low growl emitting from her as her hair was perked on edge. Her back arching up as if to make herself big as she instinctively was making sure that her long claws were in sight. Her gaze focused solely on him as her ears arched backward. All signs showing that she sensed fear from him, and was displaying a feared aggression towards him. She was agitated and was more than happy to be gone and out of there as soon as possible. [attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Patience had been so thoroughly thrust upon the impatient. Farrin was slouched in his seat, his knee bobbing up and down in such a way that he might appear anxious to the onlookers. It was the stillness. Stasis. And it was killing him. He needed to move. Chronokinesis demanded movement. Yet, he didn't dare. Not in any meaningful way, at least. Confident as the young time-turner was, he didn't dare disrespect the hero-educator. He wasn't very familiar with Leonid's exploits but had been in Japan long enough now that he recognized the name. More than the name, however, was the man that had captivated him not with a roar but a few subtle words.
"to became something that you never thought it possible for you to be" Impatient as Farrin was, those words locked his attention in place. Four years ago, if you had asked Farrin if he had what it took to be a hero, he'd have likely laughed in your face and snatched your wallet, possibly your lunch too, before beaming off to hide hideaway under the bridge. But then, he saw it. Like a window to a life not his own. A time and place where he had been something, someone that helped people. That would have happily bled to make the world a better place. Could he be that person? Could he ever possess such strength, not only of mind and body but of character? He spent the past three years in a hero prep school, honing his abilities, becoming far stronger than he believed possible, but he could ever be that good? When push came to shove, could he put his life on the line to save another's?
A question chirped up from a girl a few rows ahead of him. A ridiculous one, perhaps, but what courage was to be found in asking anything easy? It seemed preposterous, but who were any of them, Leonid included, to shut down the hopes of one who had entered these hallowed halls? Luckily, it appeared Leonid agreed. What sort of educator wouldn't have?
A few other students down the row from him didn't seem to agree, chuckling and passing a few mumbled remarks. Smug bastards. Farrin turned his attention to the hero upfront, but only for as long as it took to ask his question. His eyes would lock onto the pompous immediately after.
"Yes, Leonid - sir. I dun' mean ta' be a rush n' all, but where's the closest place ta' scrap around... I mean spar wit' our fellow students?"
Yeah, the time-turner didn't know if he could take a bullet for someone yet, but he could knock a jerk's teeth out. That he could certainly do. He'd wait, of course, until the tour was over. No promises after that. [attr="class","FarrinLeft"] [attr="class","fa fa-cog"] Symbol of Heroism [attr="class","fa fa-cog"][attr="class","FarrinQuote"]Even if it's already been decided. I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
The laughter and snide whispers from select parts of the student body did not fall on deaf ears to Leonid - He noticed, and he heard them, and he could already tell that the girl - Miss Helt - was going to have a hard time. Not that he could call out or shame those students right in that moment, would sabotage the atmosphere that, thus far, he had done a fairly decent job at establishing and, besides, not like he could really judge them too harshly. A shamefully short time ago, he would have been right there with them.
For now, he moved on to the next question, pointing at the next raised hand. "O'Rourke." Hell of a name that, and one that Leonid butchered rather terribly, struggling with it under his accent. Lord, he didn't mind it exactly, but what was with all the gaijin in these newer classes, exactly? Nothing wrong with it in and of itself, he understood that as the leading institution of its kind, the U.A. was going to attract international eyes. It was simply so very different to how he remembered the university. Then again, the university as he remembered it was forty years ago.
Speaking of accents, hoo nelly did this kid have a thick one. The veteran's brow furrowed at the question, taking a moment to process and make sure he had understood what the hell the freshman had even said. Once he was sure that he had gotten it right, however, he couldn't help but crack a sharp-toothed grin. "Eager to get into the swing of things, son? Well, the phys ed grounds are out behind the school, big doors out south, knock yourselves out."
"But," He added. "If you're looking for action, you will all soon be introduced to Dauntless, our on-campus combat instructor. Young man is a practicing pro in addition to his educator responsibilities, and one hell of a good one. He'll see you right." There was a low, rumbling chuckle from the old king. "Your days here will never be boring, I can promise that."
With the question answered, he returned his attention to the crowd at large. "Next?"

Department of Heroes Freshman
It was a bit of a mixed bag, here. Seemed there were all sorts here with the 'best Japan had to offer,' including a pack of assholes who thought it was appropriate to snicker and laugh when someone asked, quite earnestly, whether heroism could be accomplished by somebody without a quirk. She felt her bile rise immediately at that sort of eroding, dismissive response, and while Leonid delivered the "correct" answer, her blood still pounded in her ears. Those derisive sniggering idiots reminded her of her family, a whole agency full of walking dynamos sniping at her for being unable to perform as they did and hurl out lightning on command. Of her father, smirking behind them and letting the older children tear into her and say the things they all knew he thought.
She caught someone nearby growling under her breath and trying her best to stay under control. She wasn't sure if the girl with the tiger features was responding to Leonid's presence, or the unacceptable responses, but she took note all the same. She looked strong- extremely strong.
She'd have to see if the blonde would train with her some other time.
For now, a kid with a thick accent- Irish, if his name was any indication- had his own question, a snipe and veiled threat at the self-centered jerks unable to hold their tongues. The nuance seemed lost on Leonid, though, as it did on the snide little bastards- and before she could talk herself out of it, her hand was in the air.
"Leonid, sir," asked Miroru, her tone crystal clear and steely. "-what do you have to say about the increasingly problematic segment of Heroics that approaches their role in society as one of a competitor or performer instead of a civil servant? The sort who actively look for ways to undermine and deride their "competition" in order to boost their own marketability- or ego?"
It wasn't subtle. It wasn't intended to be. Rokuhane Miroru was the child of the Pro Hero Incapacitor- and the only child of several he hadn't trained himself to join Stormcloud, the Rokuhane family hero agency. She hadn't inherited her father's quirk- and she apparently hadn't inherited his venal nature or vain personality, either. That question was as much a stab at her family as it was a slap in the face of those who would ridicule someone- someone putting themselves on the line, no less- just for lacking a "suitable" quirk to do so.
I can pay no price too great for justice.

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
It might as well have been a slap in the face.
In that moment, Leonid didn't have the absolute foggiest how to respond as a question that, from his perspective, felt almost clairvoyantly pointed was directed towards him. That had to be a jab towards him personally, didn't it? It was too specific, too out of the blue, the girl who had asked it- What was her name? He had studied all of the new students specifically so that he would be able to name them effortlessly, make them feel seen, make him look capable. Yet, who was even-
...Rokuhane, right? Yeah. Miroru Rokuhane. Incapacitator's girl. Last he had seen her, she hadn't even been old enough to form words, and now she was here, shooting barbed questions that knocked the wind right out of the veteran hero. His temper flared within him, long forgotten but now suddenly heating back up. As the old lion fell silent, waves of his personal dominance rolled off of him, the animal presence bestowed upon him by his quirk involuntarily pushing down on the room and everyone it. Take the fight. His younger self growled in his ears. Brat comes in here thinking she can question you on her father's behest? In front of your students? Show her exactly what happens when one steps up to the king-
"Huh." He dismissed the rolling wrath as quickly as it had emerged, sealing that part of himself back away, locking it tight alongside all other things best forgotten. Another small chuckle escaped the lion, and he pointed towards the smaller girl. "Rokuhane. Nice to see you, by the way. You might not remember, but me and your father worked together on some missions in the past. When I last saw you, you were no bigger than one of my hands." The lion smiled as much as his muzzle would allow him, raising one open hand to illustrate. "Now I have to say, didn't expect reporters to sneak in here today. You got some loaded question in you that'd put showbiz to shame." His tone was jovial again, joking, playing the part of the laid-back older teacher. Just like that he had flipped to the charismatic, charming character that answered tricky questions in talk shows and dismissed allegations to journalists. He had played that part for over twenty years, he could easily do it here, just needed to reapply it a little.
"No, no, I'm joking, that's a very good question, in all honesty." He went on, taking another small pause before answering proper. "The Hero Association is still a system in its early years. We are still learning how these things ought to work, and you are very correct, flaws are present and some bad faith actors go into the industry with the wrong goals in mind. And that's a shame, truly." Another small pang of irritation that ran over his mind like hot oil. Where did she find the nerve, essentially making him indirectly defend himself like this? But, he dismissed it. No. Focus now. Cooler heads must prevail. "But we must remember that first and foremost, our obligations as heroes go to the public. We must protect and we must serve. We are the ones whom they turn to in times of crisis, we are the ones who allow safety to remain in uncertain times. We are hope, we are the light at the end of the tunnel."
Once again, the lion folded his hands behind his back, finding his straight-backed posture returning to him. "For all of those people who rely on us, we must be the best versions of ourselves. We cannot allow our more immediate or self-serving impulses to rule us, and we cannot let pettier things come in the way of our purpose. We are guardians of the people, and the faith that they put in us must be answered by our absolute devotion to excellence in all that we do. They are our highest priority. All the people out there. Not fame, and not success, and not defeating our rivals among our fellow heroes, but them. And those are the values we wish to instill, here in U.A."
Leonid exhaled softly. He would like to think that he had done a decent job of absorbing that blow.
"I would love to keep discussing these more ethical and political concerns, it is something I am very passionate about." He chuckled again. "But let's save that for later and let's try to limit the questions to strictly school matters for now, shall we? Okay, next."

Freja tensed up the moment he said her last name. How the hell was a renowned hero and teacher able to recognize a background character like herself so quickly?! While she was slightly terrified, his answer surprisingly did a lot to put her mind at ease. It was one thing to hear what other students thought on the matter, but a real, decorated pro hero saying it was possible? That a quirkless person like Freja could make something of herself too, and become a hero that others could rely on? She was still scared of this path that she had chosen, but hearing him say that was a step in the right direction.
Right up until he brought up how the reason she was here was because she had showed more promise than some other quirk-abled students. Now it was just sounding like he was hyping her up to being something she wasn't!! Hopefully none of the other students took note of that, the last thing she needed was for someone to get excited and challenge her expecting the fight of a lifetime.
''T-Thank you..'' She bowed her head politely before shrinking back down into the crowd of students. Thankfully O'Rourke chimed in with a question right after so she had some time to catch her breath. Then Rokuhane, was that Rokuhane Miroru? She asked a question that was way more loaded than Freja thought her own was. It was perfect, this would surely take away any sliver of attention Freja herself had held for the few seconds it took to ask her own question.
Now she could finally relax, or so she thought.
She noticed that another student was emitting a low growl, at what, or who she wasn't sure, but it made Freja tense up again, sweating as she lowkey expected Shana to pounce at someone any moment.

Sitting in her seat, shoulders tucked and trying to take as little space as possible, Rin had her hands in her lap and her gaze locked forward as she waited with everyone else. When Leonid stepped out onto stage she couldn't help the very first thought that popped into her head:
Fluffy.
Immediately dropping her gaze down towards the base of the stage, to avoid any possibility of accidental eye contact with the Leonid, Rin was nonetheless listening intently. What he had to say was... honestly inspiring. She had been afraid that he might tell them that if they were nervous or not very strong or whatever else that they should just go home right now and give up. Would she have blamed him if he did? Probably not, but everything he said was more on the supportive and encouraging side of things. Even when a question about Quirkless people came up - Rin actually couldn't help but feel some secondhand relief on Freja's behalf there. Asking a question like that? She'd be so tense sh would feel like she'd die, and then getting a positive answer? That had to be the hugest relief ever!
A boy immediately asking about fighting reminded Rin that she wasn't at all any good at that, and she made a mental note to maybe MAYBE ask him if he had any advice later. If she could work up the courage to actually talk to someone, anyways. She probably wouldn't, but she'd try to remember his name anyways. Another question caught her attention then, and Rin felt a sense of dread wash over her - did she count as someone that was getting into heroics for the wrong reason? Leonid's joke almost seemed too serious at first, at least to Rin, and she peeked a glance for just a moment over at the other girl that had asked it - she wasn't about to get in trouble was she? But then it turned out to just be a joke and Leonid actually agreed with her and Rin wasn't sure if she felt better or worse about that. Wanting to be a better person had to be a selfish reason to be a hero but... it couldn't be as bad as being a glory-hound or something, right?
Right?
A low growling sound caught her attention and Rin glanced around in confusion until she spotted the source - subconsciously leaning away in her seat from Shana out of fear that she might somehow get caught in the crossfire if any pouncing did happen.

Post by Robin on May 30, 2023 14:10:09 GMT
It was all pomp and ceremony. Teenagers lost, desperately trying to cling onto anything that they knew. Anything that might garner them a shred of attention, fame, worth, money. It was big talk from big names in a big industry that had every intention of using you and spitting you out when you have nothing left to give. It was an industry fixated on the “Next big name in heroics” and if you weren’t that, you were worthless to the masses. No, Robin didn’t want to be here. Here in this chair, and here at this Orientation. Then again, none of the other Ronin’s wanted her to go either. The school represented the last trial of a long drawn out business deal and Robin had been selected to prove the projects worth. Even if that meant getting shoulder to shoulder with the next generation of war crimes waiting to happen. Her eyes rolled with every noble intention in the room, every aspiration to be number one, every kid trying to carve their name in the stars. It was innocence at its purest and it made her stomach roll. Whatever. At the very least data could be collected about this generation of wannabe Heroes while she was forced to sit amongst them. Leonid. Sure liked to hear his own voice. If she was being honest, the bird hadn’t been listening to anything he said since this assembly had begun. There were few other standouts in the crowd. Some guy asking about fighting, people doubting their capabilities because of course there was. And finally something that truly piqued her attention. A truly deep cut against the ethics of Heroics in the modern age. It was an all too valid accusation made at the throat of the school, one that was deflected and turned back into a life lesson to be swallowed by the students en masse. Be your best, Try hard, keep up the façade that this isn’t a small army of warrior-gods in training. No, While Leonid spoke he had very little to actually say and very little to interest Robin in. Everyone in this room had a price. A cost they’re willing to pay for their dignity. A small enough price for some to pay in order to get a literal superhero on their payroll. All this talk about ‘Being your best self’ meant ultimately nothing against the sociopolitical impact that their mere presence would have on this planet. Robin shrugged, her wings twitching upward. Not like she had any high ground to speak from of course, she was here to sell a product to the very same corporations. The difference is that the Ronin were made for this. [attr="class","RajahName"]Inoue | [attr="class","Rajahright"]Shana didn’t like this. She had been on edge this entire time. Hearing one person after another was barely even audible in her own ears as the only thing she could stay focused on, was the danger in front of her. She didn’t know what it was about him. But something just seemed to radiate off of him. Giving her that awful feeling of fear. Like he was a problem. Though he hadn’t yet done anything to trigger her to take any further action. Shana merely content to sit there, teeth bared as he finished answering some question about the quirkless. One student had already vacated their chair next to her. A few others she knew were looking her way. None of which mattered to her as some other guy opted to ask about fighting. What normally would have interested her. It was one of her favourite things to do after all. But right now she already had a target in sight. The beast at the microphone. However, it was this third question. She didn’t particularly hear what it was. But the result was clear. Because as soon as she finished asking whatever it was. A palpable fear erupted from him. One that was finally enough to push Shana over the edge. A loud growl finally emerging from her in defiance as the scared tiger reacted. Bolting up in her chair and scooping up the empty seat next to her. Large paw fitting firmly underneath the seat as in one motion she scooped her paw under it before chucking it right at the hero himself. Another defiant growl quickly to follow as she remained standing and on high alert. Ears pinned back and tail low as she was basically ready for this man to attack her at any moment with the eruption of dominance and fear he was subjugating over the crowd. She had always hated his movies for a reason. [attr="class","RajahExtra"]Tags - Notes -

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
He heard the chair before he saw it. The distinct growl picked up by his mutated form's finetuned senses, and then the scratch of plastic against the polished floor. One of his students had just lobbed a chair at him, and Leonid swiveled around to meet the sudden projectile. He wasn't as fast as he used to be, and he wasn't as accustomed to responding to attacks like these as he had once been, but this was still something that happened on autopilot. One of the lion's hands shot up, colliding with the incoming piece of furniture and snatching it out of the air with enough force to leave a thin, hairline crack along the plastic. He swung it aside, but kept hold on it, chair now held at his side as he quickly scanned the area and his eyes found the assailant. It was Leonid's turn to act on instinct now, as the raw willpower of his quirk-enhanced self rolled forth, blanketing the room for just a moment.
This was
王国
The King's Dominion "Sit down, lass!" A command that filled the entire hall with a boom, his voice rising to a level that human speech shouldn't, backed by the bass of a true lion's roar. His instinctual rage rolled off of him, and only then did he find it in him to reel it back. No, no, these were his students. He needed to control himself. Exhaling with a rolling, rumbling growl, Leonid put the chair he held down beside him, shaking his head softly. Names... Names... What was this one, now..?
"Miss... Inoue, was it?" He asked to the fearful tigress, his voice now evening out, his Dominion rolling back like the tide and contained deeply within him, limited as far as he possibly could limit it. "There is nothing to worry about, I am not angry with you, this is... An aspect of my quirk that rarely surfaces. My presence is off-putting to some animals and, evidently, a handful of mutants fall within that spectrum. We will speak in private and sort this out after the orientation, yes? If you need to remove yourself from the room for now, feel free to do so. If you wish to stay, that is also an option. I trust your judgement."
"Nothing to worry about, everyone!" He called out, now addressing the class at large again. "I apologize for raising my voice at all of you. These things happen in these times we live in, quirks interact in strange ways." He shook his head, continuing to maintain as calm and inoffensive a demeanor as he possibly could. Damn it all... "Try to settle, now."
