[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin leaped up into the air, as high as his Temporal State allowed. His eyes burned with the golden clock dials of his quirk's full strength. Pearlescent wisps of temporal flame burned in and out of existence around him, accompanied only by the emerald crackle of lightning-like energy around him and the blur of his every move. Then, despite the dramatic display of his Chronokinetic might, he fell hard on arse.
"Oi, feckin' hell!" He cursed under breath.
Luckily, his landing was padded by the grass of his hill, the Dojo, rather than the rest of the training field's gravel. He had crashed quite a few times already, and by the looks of it, he would do so several more times before making any modicum of progress. Shadowboxing, track running, weight training, all of it was far more entertaining than what he was going for today, but should today's training bear fruit, he might be able to fly. Well, not really... but kind of.
The time-turner picked himself up and dusted himself off, slapping the dirt off his UAU gym attire. Then he was at it again. He leaped up as high as he could. Below his boot a one-foot by one-foot tile of nearly translucent emerald power formed. He landed on it, his boot slowing to a crawl. His upper body fell forward, then as the field disappeared and lost its hold on the time-turner, he fell back to the ground crashing against the grass.
"Son uv a!" He shouted this time.
The objective was to slow the space in fields just below his boot to such crawling states that the matter within could barely be said to be moving. If he did, he just might be able to land on the field and hop off of it. It would be like running through the very air... if he succeeded. Questionable at best, but he wasn't stopping now. So again, Farrin took to the sky. And again, he crashed.

The day stretched out like the rolling fields of eastern Europe, allegedly, and for once Robin had actual plans. Not like training or class weren’t real plans, but they were near mandatory. A hoop to jump through in order to maintain this cover. Something she did because she had to, not because she wanted to. Well, the target practice was always a welcome distraction but that wasn’t really relevant at this moment. She slipped on her helmet, various sensors whirring to life as it went on. Different Heads up Displays blinked to life, throwing up information about the climate, vision options, and even a satellite image of her approximate location. It was all advanced stuff, but in order to show why it was really cool she would need a wide open space. Her gait was bristling with energy as she walked to the Physical Education Grounds, attache case in hand and gun bag slung over her shoulder. They were the closest fields to the dorm and the test bed for today’s demonstration. She flipped through various vision enhancements as she trotted. The world went from bright green, to blobs and smudges of white on black, and back again before they settled on a magnified view of the grounds and the boy who was already there. Farrin. He was unusually highly driven for a student here. Sure, everyone here had a goal in mind, but it felt like Farrin would be the one to reach it first, through sweat and blood and tears. It was admirable, almost inspiring if Robin was being honest. She would almost assuredly hesitate pulling the trigger. She approached the field without a word to the time turner, he was busy running into the sky and it was rude to interrupt. Flipping through the various modes, she noticed a small square appearing under his steps as he stepped up. The infrared would blur, and the temperature would drop with each step. Even in natural light, the dust he was kicking up seemed to get stuck within this square, even if just for a split second. She set her case and bag onto the ground before plopping down next to them feeling like she was having a peek behind the curtain. Farrin

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] No amount of focus saw the field frozen solid. Mustering a temporal deceleration was like slowing one's pace while caught in the river current. Stasis, however, was more akin to willing the earth's waters into complete submission. If it was possible, he sure couldn't do it. Without stasis, he had to try slowing the air molecules caught in his field to a point of near-stasis, only then would he be able to step off of the field without passing through it. The exercise was not going quite as planned.
Farrin crashed for the umpteenth time. The air simply would not submit to his limited control over the temporal tides. This time, he crash hard on his side and rolled toward the bottom of his grassy hill, and out into the gravel of one of the training fields.
"God dammit, why the feck won't it work. It should work," he sighed, staring skyward toward the clouds.
It was taxing work and required far more of his mental resources than throwing up any other field due to the precise nature of the maneuver, but he couldn't quit now. So, Farrin pushed himself up off the ground and took to the top of the hill again. He kicked off the earth and into the sky. Though his eyes were locked on the heavens, his mind was just below his boot, focusing, willing, demanding the deceleration field that burned into being to wrestle the very air into static submission.
And it worked. Farrin was standing in the air. He could see the entirety of the field, and beyond. Everyone was going about their day, scurrying between the dorms and UAU's main lecture hall or the other training facilities. He saw a familiar face below too. Or, at this distance, it was more like familiar wings.
"Oi, hey there, la-"
The field collapsed, Icarus's wings burned away, and so Farrin went arse to grass again. Another tumble down the hill. This time he sort of rolled in Robin's direction though he hadn't crossed the full distance. The cut of his momentum was marked by a fit of coughs and his hand rubbing at his head, though, eventually, he would sit upward and look in the avian arsenal's direction.
"Eh, like I was sayin', hey there, lass. What're yuh' up ta out 'ere?"

“Oh hey, nice of you to drop in.” She spoke without breaking her attention from the task at hand. It wasn’t unusual for the Irishman to fall like this, honestly speaking he’s probably fallen more times than the bird. Memories came to mind of many bruises and injuries sustained while learning to fly. She was pretty sure she had even broken a limb, although it wasn’t like it would’ve been an issue for long for her. Pain was distinctly seared into her memories though, the only reminder of her past failures. Of course, it all helped her to be the bird she was today. Good with the bad, she supposed. “Me, Oh, I’m just playing with a new toy.” she stated plainly, her hand tapping the attache case. “Just normal, boring stuff really. Though, what was that? Coming in on my turf?” she would smirk from under her helmet for purely her own benefit. Maybe deep down she did feel territorial about the air. It was her space, she was the one with the wings and the hollow bones and the low red blood cell count. It didn’t seem fair that someone with a quirk like Farrin’s would be able to also walk on thin air. He never had to go through the pain of breaking a limb from bumping into a counter, and don’t even get her started on stubbing her toe. As she would listen to Farrin speak she would stoop down and unclasp the case at her feet and from it she pulled a small quadcopter styled drone. It was wholly unassuming, but it was just a prototype at the end of the day. She tapped the power button once and after a short delay received a confirmation in her helmet that the devices were talking. A new screen popped up in the corner of her vision displaying what the drone’s camera saw. Of course, this was just her and Farrin… for now. She looked back at the Time Turner, “Isn’t it cute?” A genuine smile forming across her face. Farrin

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin dusted himself off as the avian spoke. Robin was certainly a peculiar one. Theirs was certainly an odd bunch, but take away the temporal alarms that rang around Leo, and Robin perhaps ranked as the absolute oddest.
Farrin now knew that Thea's dosed-up demeanor came courtesy of her quirk - which explained away some of the peculiarity. Zenkai was mostly a gentle, if lazy, giant. He had his secrets for certain, but who didn't? Farrin would dig into the nature of his quirk one day. Leo? Again, temporal alarms. They flew him to the tippy top of Farrin's sus list, but nothing of his character threw Farrin off. It was all about time and how it acted around the former tyrant. That left Robin. An enigma framed with wings and a rifle. How many heroes brought an arsenal to school? Well, an arsenal of firearms and military-grade tech. Unlike Thea, at first glance at least, it didn't appear as though the girl's oddities stemmed from her quirk. So who was she really beneath that helmet?
"Somethin' like that," he responded with the slightest smirk, eyeing the case she unlocked. "Not flight, per se, but I think I've figured somethin' similar out." He left the details behind his temporal trickery at that for now.
"Did flight come naturally to yuh' once yer' quirk emerged or did it take time ta' develop?"
The method of potential air travel was too different for him to glean anything of use from Robin's experience, but maybe this would lead to the first piece of the Robin puzzle. Maybe he'd even uncover why she felt so familiar to him too.
Farrin eyed the drone. "Cute is certainly a word wit' which ta' describe it." It was certainly an interesting device, but he lacked the affection for such "toys." It was pretty cool though. "How yuh' plannin' on usin' this thing? I mean, yuh' already have wings. Though I suppose it's much easier ta' get a stable bird's eye view wit' a drone, no pun intended."

“Well, you know how baby birds get pushed from their nests?”The truth was she was literally a natural in the air. Sure, it had taken time to develop the muscle memory required to control her flight with each feather being its own tiny rudder in the air. But from as far back as her memory could allow, she had always been airborne… except all the times she had fallen early on of course. Memories flashed through her mind, the sounds of impact and the snap of bone. She had broken a lot of bones. Nothing builds confidence quite like deterrence however, and you tend to get pretty good at things if failure means several minutes with a shattered femur. “...let’s just say my parents were very excited for me to get flying and find a hobby.” She finally shrugged after spending a moment lost in her thoughts. “And pain was an excellent motivator after all. You tend to perform better if the alternative is writhing on the ground.” “Well, contrary to popular belief, flying does not provide a stable firing position. Sorry to be the one to break the news.” Part of her wondered if she should fabricate a reason for the drone. Surely there was no harm in actually telling Farrin a reason, just not The reason with a capital T. Not yet at least, besides, everyone here would find out in time. “So, to cover my bases, enter… this? Should really come up with a name for you…oh well, not important. So like, while I’m doing whatever, or I simply can’t be assed, it can be in the sky for me giving me live updates about the surrounding area. Much more reliable than a satellite image, at least, that’s the idea behind it.” “Not everyone can be everywhere, but with this I can at least be in two places, ya know?”
“At the end of the day, it’s solid intel that wins wars. Not boots on the ground.” Her mouth recited those words in an almost robotic trance. Each letter had been drilled into her ever since she could fly. And for just a moment, she felt homesick. Farrin

[attr="class","Farrin"] [attr="class","KC1"] [attr="class","FarrinBG"] [attr="class","FarrinTop"] [attr="class","FarrinContent"] Farrin's response was limited to a few nods at first. Robin had certainly found her hobby. The world had issued her a rifle - and wings. Aerial superiority in human shape. How had she not ended up in The Howlett Institute or one of the other American Hero Academies? Back home they had a far greater penchant for firearms and general lethality. Not to the degree some out here believed, but there was no denying the step or two taken toward ruthlessness in American heroics.
"I dun' see any weapons on it. Can yuh' attach weaponry ta' it without throwin' off its weight n balance?"
Farrin was wholly ignorant to military-like tech. He understood how a gun worked, and that was about as far his waters washed on those shores. Weaponized drones were a thing, but could she just slap a gun on this thing and make it work? The latter points fit together easier in his mind. Even if she possessed superior eyesight, how high could she fly before everyone looked like ants across the anthill? A drone could soar & hover, and then zoom in on a suspicious target. Still, curiosity stretched its limbs and threw another question out there for consideration.
"Yer' no worried though that while yer focused on the drone that yuh' might be less in tune wit' what's happenin' around yuh? I dun' know the specifics o' yer' quirk, but will multitaskin' like that no' be in an issue?"
His gaze shifted from Robin's helmet to the drone, then back. A person couldn't actually think of two things at one exact moment. Multitasking was actually about how precisely one could act on each thought while quickly shifting back and forth. Farrin mostly achieved this by virtue of the world feeling slow around him, but it was entirely possible she was that good.
"Yuh know, I'm sort o' surprised yuh' came 'ere rather than join up wit' the JSDF or some sort. Dun' get me wrong, I'm glad yer 'ere." He wasn't sure why that was. He barely knew this girl, but it was a genuine sentiment radiating from that temporal place in his brain, "n' there are heroes use similar tools, just maybe no' so high grade. At least no' from what I've seen out 'ere."
